Timo Werner ‘wanted to join Man Utd’ over Chelsea or Liverpool before his £48m Stamford Bridge transfer

TIMO WERNER wanted to join Manchester United over Chelsea and Liverpool before his £53million move to Stamford Bridge last summer. That is according to evidence in a German court case between Werner’s agent Karl-Heinz Forster and his former associate Murat Lokurlu.

A ‘million-dollar- dispute is ongoing between the two men, as reported by Bild.
The case is set to be heard on Tuesday but documents revealed ahead of the hearing suggest Werner’s preferred destination was Old Trafford before he left RB Leipzig.
In WhatsApp messages from 2019, Werner reportedly told Lokurlu United were his ‘favourites’ with Chelsea named as ‘great alternatives’.
United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all said to have been in for Werner in 2019.
The Red Devils are said to have sent a proposal to Lokurlu via WhatsApp to which he replied: “We’ll see.”
Liverpool also reportedly submitted a concrete offer with a ‘secret meeting’ said to have taken place between Werner and the Reds.

A five-year deal on around £200,000-a-week with approximately £20m in bonuses was reportedly put on the table.
However, Liverpool eventually signed Diogo Jota, and Chelsea swooped last June.
The Blues paid £53m and pay him an eye-watering £270k-a-week.
Chelsea paid through the nose for Timo Werner
But he has failed to provide value for money so far with just 13 goals in 59 matches for the West Londoners.
His game time looked like it would be limited this season with Romelu Lukaku hitting the ground running after his £97.5m switch from Inter Milan.
The Belgian has four in seven and has already cemented himself as No 1 striker, but Werner could now form a surprise two-man attack with him after starting alongside Lukaku in Saturday’s defeat to Manchester City.

Watch Erling Haaland channel Zlatan Ibrahimovic with incredible karate kick finish in Dortmund’s win over Union Berlin

BORUSSIA DORTMUND star Erling Haaland channelled his inner Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score a stunning goal against Union Berlin. The Norwegian, 21, produced a karate kick in mid air to lob goalkeeper Andreas Luthe and seal a 4-2 victory for his current employers.

Ibrahimovic has produced countless karate kick finishes during his careerCredit: USA TODAY Sports
It was Haaland’s second goal of the game and many fans are comparing it to Ibrahimovic’s famous bicycle kick against England in November 2012.
One tweeted: “Everything about Haaland reminds me of Zlatan. This is what a FIFA or Football Manager regen looks like in real life. Exceptional talent.”
While another wrote: “If you combine Zlatan and Robert Lewandowski together, you get Haaland.”
And one supporter tweeted: “I don’t know what to say anymore. This guy is a genius.”
It’s fair to say Haaland has the same Scandinavian swagger as Ibrahimovic and is emulating his record in front of goal, too.
The promising striker has 68 goals in just 67 games for Dortmund since he joined the German giants from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

And Ibrahimovic was nowhere near as prolific as Haaland at a similar age, scoring 48 goals in 110 games for Ajax during his early twenties.
The Swedish striker didn’t notch more than 20 league goals in a season until the 2008-09 campaign at Inter Milan – when he was 27 years old.
Ibrahimovic, of course, has gone on to more than 500 club goals in his career and continues to be prolific as he approaches his 40th birthday.
Whether Haaland can emulate the AC Milan striker’s longevity and surpass his goal tally remains to be seen – but his potential cannot be denied.
The youngster’s double against Union Berlin has lifted Dortmund up to third in the Bundesliga, one point behind champions Bayern Munich.
    ZLATAN’S VIEW
Ibrahimovic certainly rates his young contemporary, reportedly telling the press in August: “Haaland will be the next star of world football.
“I like his style, I like the way he plays and above all the way he talks. He’s got a great personality.
“He talks and backs it up on the pitch. That’s how a footballer should be. I really like it.”

Chelsea in four-way Kingsley Coman transfer battle along with Liverpool as Bayern Munich winger is tipped to quit club

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS Chelsea are interested in signing Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, according to reports. It’s believed the French winger, 25, will quit the Bavarian club next summer as he has fewer than two years remaining on his existing contract.
Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Kingsley ComanCredit: Getty
According to The Mirror, Chelsea and Liverpool are on ‘red alert’ after an ex-Bayern sporting director casted doubts over Coman’s future.
Christian Nerlinger recently told BILD TV: “I don’t think he will stay in Munich. Bayern have a recent tendency to lose players for free.
“But you can’t do that in the long run, you have to sell players from time to time if the offer is right.
“Coman is an excellent player, but given the situation, I think Bayern will consider selling him.”
And, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.Net, Tottenham and former club Juventus are also keen on adding Coman to their respective attacks.
Chelsea were linked with Coman throughout the recent transfer window but were reportedly put off by Bayern’s £86million price tag.

But if the player’s contract isn’t renewed, his valuation will drop and the Bundesliga outfit may be forced into a sale to avoid losing him on a free.
Coman, a 34-cap France international, is one of Europe’s brightest talents after spells with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
The winger has already won TEN league titles during his career and scored the winning goal in the 2020 Champions League final against PSG.

Coman underwent minor heart surgery on Thursday but is expected to return to action within the next two weeks.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann told the press: “His heartbeat rhythm had a slight disturbance with a minor added beat.
“At times he had a slight shortage of breath. That’s why we opted for long-term ECG monitoring and went ahead with this procedure.”

Man Utd ‘still planning Erling Haaland transfer next summer to partner Dortmund striker with Cristiano Ronaldo’

Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Old Trafford won’t deter United chiefs from plotting a move for Haaland, despite the pair playing in the same position.
But the Red Devils will face plenty of competition for his signature, with his £64million release clause now reportedly active.
United are convinced a strike partnership of Ronaldo and Haaland would work, with CR7 revealing his admiration for the Borussia Dortmund frontman earlier this year.
The 36-year-old said: “It is hard to choose just one player to say this one will be the best.
“But I think it is exciting to see this new generation of young players, like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, who are coming through.”
Unsurprisingly Haaland has started the season with a bang in Germany.

He’s scored NINE goals in just seven games for Borussia Dortmund so far this campaign.
And with CR7 bagging three goals in two games since his emotional return to Old Trafford, the pair could form a deadly partnership at the club.
Solskjaer is eager to work with Haaland again after the two Norwegians spent time together at Molde, but cross city rivals Manchester City are also keen to vill their void up front with Haaland.
Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich AND PSG are also reportedly lining up moves for the striker.
Haaland joined Dortmund in January 2020 after a prolific spell at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, scoring 29 goals in 27 games.
Since then he has gone on to score 66 times in 66 games for the Bundesliga side, also contributing 17 assists.

His sensational scoring record has also translated to his budding international career.
In 15 games for Norway Haaland has netted 12 times already.
And United are said to be desperate to bring Haaland to the Premier League next summer to form a lethal partnership with Old Trafford favourite Ronaldo up front.

Erling Haaland says seven strikers are better than him including England’s Harry Kane and Chelsea star Timo Werner

ERLING HAALAND named the seven strikers he thinks are better than him – but would back himself in a crunch tie.The Borussia Dortmund star, 20, has burst on to the scene with a series of stunning displays over recent years.
Erling Haaland could only think of seven strikers in world football better than him right now
Scoring goals for fun, Haaland made his transfer to the German giants in the winter transfer window of 2020.
And in an interview with VG, the Norwegian sensation could only think of seven centre-forwards in world football currently better than him – and it is some list.
The seven is made up of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski from rivals Bayern Munich.
All of the remaining five strikers all ply their trade in the Premier League including Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as Tottenham hero Harry Kane.
Barcelona’s Sergio Aguero, Roberto Firmino of Liverpool and Chelsea new boy Timo Werner – who arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer – complete the elite group.
But despite the hundreds of goals between the seven, Haaland emphasised he had the self-confidence to choose himself to lead the line in a huge match.
There are, however, a few of the biggest No9 names left out.
Haaland omitted the likes of Luis Suarez, Karim Benzema and Romelu Lukaku.

But the biggest surprise sees no Kylian Mbappe, arguably the most valuable player in the world, on the Norwegian’s list.
The pair, both transfer targets for Real Madrid, may not see eye to eye after Mbappe, Neymar and their Paris Saint-Germain team-mates mocked the Dortmund star’s celebration following their comeback win in the Champions League last season.
Haaland was also a target for compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before his Dortmund switch – but revealed the “good vibes” he got from the Bundesliga side convinced him to join Die Schwarzgelben.
He said: “There were of course a couple of clubs involved, but at the same time I did not know too much about this.
“But it was I who first mentioned Dortmund to my father (Alf Inge Haaland).
“We were sitting at home in Salzburg and watching a game Dortmund played, and I said to him, ‘Oi, look at that wall behind the goal. There had been something to play there.’
“I think he was half asleep on the sofa, but suddenly it became a reality. When I talked to them, I got a good vibe. I felt a little sold after that.
“What I liked so much about them was how direct they were. They said exactly how it was right for me. I liked that.” More

The annual Bavarian beer festival has been cancelled for the second straight year due to Covid.
But that did not stop Bayern from sporting the classy new look as they notched their fourth win of the season.
Striker Robert Lewandowski made history as he became the first Bundesliga player to score in 13 home games in a row.
The Poland ace was joined on the scoresheet by four other Bayern players, with Bochum defender Vasilis Lampropoulos giving away an own goal.
Former Man City winger Leroy Sane opened the scoring at Allianz Arena with a stunning freekick.
The 25-year-old then turned provider as he set up fellow Germany international Joshua Kimmich to turn and finish.

Serge Gnabry added a third after he latched onto a neat Thomas Muller pass, who then forced Lampropoulos to cough up an own goal.
Going into the half-time break 4-0 up, the only thing that was missing for Bayern was a record-breaking Lewandowski strike.
But sure enough that came on the hour mark when the prolific No 9 extended his scoring streak from close range.
With victory more than sealed, Kimmich then doubled his tally as he turned in a Leon Goretzka header before Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting added a seventh.
Bayern could have had eight had Muller not strayed offside but victory keeps the undefeated champs top of the table with four wins from five.

Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, 25, undergoes heart surgery after suffering from shortness of breath

BAYERN MUNICH winger Kingsley Coman has undergone minor heart surgery, his manager Julian Nagelsmann announced on Friday. The France international, 25, is expected to be out of action for two weeks after receiving medical attention on a heart arrhythmia.

Bayern boss Nagelsmann told the press: “Kingsley Coman underwent surgery yesterday.
“His heartbeat rhythm had a slight disturbance with a minor added beat. At times he had a slight shortage of breath.
“That’s why we opted for long-term ECG monitoring and went ahead with this procedure.
“He will be doing cardio training again on Tuesday and won’t be out of action for any more than one and a half to two weeks.”
An arrhythmia is when the heart beats with an irregular or abnormal rhythm. This could be too fast, too slow or just irregularly.
Arrhythmias occur when electrical signals that coordinate heartbeats don’t work as they should.

Some people experience irregular heartbeats, for instance, which may feel like the heart is racing or fluttering.
Many arrhythmias are harmless but, if they are particularly abnormal or result from a weak or damaged heart, can be serious.
Several footballers have undergone minor heart procedures in recent years, such as Manchester United icon Michael Carrick in 2017.
Coman has NOT been fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) heart-starting device like Inter Milan star Christian Eriksen.
The Bayern ace is one of Europe’s biggest footballers, scoring the winner in the 2020 Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
He was part of France’s squad for Euro 2016 and Euro 2020 and has already won TEN league titles with PSG, Bayern and Juventus.

Man Utd, Liverpool and City interested in Jude Bellingham transfer next summer after shining for Borussia Dortmund

JUDE BELLINGHAM was basking in more acclaim after outshining even Erling Haaland in Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League opener.Teenager Bellingham was the star of the show by scoring the opener and then setting up Haaland’s strike as Dortmund withstood an ordeal by Turkish fire to beat Besiktas 2-1 in Istanbul.

It was further evidence of the 18-year-old’s remarkable maturity and ability to make himself a mainstay of a major side at such a tender age.
Bellingham celebrated his man of the match display by interrupting Haaland’s post-match TV interview – and planting a smacker on the Norwegian’s cheek.
The pair have become Dortmund’s new dynamic duo, with Haaland telling the cameras: “He’s just unbelievable.
“And he’s three years younger than me. It’s crazy!”
It is not just Haaland and the Dortmund fans who have taken a shine to Bellingham, who became the youngest player to score back to back Champions League goals with his strike in Turkey.
Bellingham, with a cheeky smile, said: “Now I want to be the youngest player to score in three straight games.”

BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1
But it was as much the other aspects of his performance that explained why Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City – among others – will be out to try to lure him back to England when Dortmund are prepared to sell.
That is unlikely to be next summer, with Haaland also certain to go when his £75m buy-out clause is triggered.
Having lost Jadon Sancho to United this summer, Dortmund will be desperate to hold on to Bellingham for at least another 12 months.
But his displays have seen Germany’s biggest-selling paper Bild predict: “He will be Dortmund’s upcoming £100m transfer in the next few years.”
Bellingham is keeping Belgian star Axel Witsel on the bench and coach Marco Rose said: “Jude is just a great guy. In every single way.
“His mentality, the willingness to work for the team, the intensity with which he plays football, the will to win and of course the solutions he finds on the football pitch.
“The way he assisted the second goal and scored the first himself is extraordinary. That’s why we’re glad to have such a boy with us.”

Bellingham is the future of the England midfield, too, even though he is currently one of the understudies to Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.
Yet if the former Birmingam starlet continues his rapid ascent, it is hard to see Gareth Southgate not wanting him as part of his midfield axis when the 2022 World Cup kicks off in Qatar in November 2022.
But while Bellingham’s future in the Prem is assured, one man who is set to stay in the Bundesliga is Leon Goretzka.
United were keen on landing the midfielder this summer but Bayern Munich refused to listen to any offers and have now agreed a new contract for the Germany star to stay in Bavaria until 2026.
