He was joined by BT regulars Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves.
As the trio built-up to kick-off, United fans could be heard chanting the name of the Dutch forward, who played for the club between 2012 and 2015.
Once the singing reached his ears, Van Persie broke out into a surprised smile and glanced towards the crowd.
    Fans loved the warm moment.

One said: “Makes me happy, makes me smile.”
While another joked that Van Persie had “erased” his Arsenal career, with the star spending eight years at the Emirates before heading to United.
Despite his relatively short stay at Old Trafford, Van Persie quickly became a fan favourite.
Sir Alex Ferguson raided rivals Arsenal for their top star late in the window as he looked to respond to the crushing, infamous title loss at the end of the 2011-12 season when Sergio Aguero struck.

RVP’s immediately gave United a sharper edge and the club took the title back with ease as the Dutchman hit 26 goals.
With Ferguson retiring, Van Persie could not quite match the same level over his next two seasons but did still reach double figures.
The star, now 39, visited United training this week and was seen hugging old teammate David De Gea. More

And as the popular pundit discussed reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, he seemed to suffer an unfortunate slip of the tongue.
Instead of referring to Pep Guardiola’s side as “Man City”, former Liverpool man Crouch accidentally labelled them “Manchester S****y”.
And unsurprisingly plenty of viewers watching on at home picked up on the funny blunder.
One said: “Peter Crouch love it you calling Man City Man S****y live on BT Sport at Anfield.”

And the big-game, pre-match hype was certainly justified with a bonkers clash on the slippery Anfield pitch.
Darwin Nunez flicked in after just four minutes before Thibaut Courtois’ horror moment gifted Mo Salah a second.
But Vinicius Junior curled in a superb effort to reduce the deficit for the Champions League holders.
And then he inadvertently made it 2-2 when Alisson passed straight into the Brazilian’s leg as the ball looped into the open net.
Eder Militao headed in immediately after half-time before Karim Benzema turned on the style with two goals of his own to record a staggering 5-2 win for Los Blancos. More

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s leveller on the hour mark for the Gunners made it 2-2, before a late twist.
Leon Bailey hit the woodwork late on, but it would be an unfortunate own goal that decided matters.
New Arsenal signing Jorginho let fly from the edge of the box in the 93rd minute, cannoning his shot off the crossbar.
The ball bounced out, before inadvertently striking Emi Martinez on the back of the head and trickling in.

Fans left groaning as DAZN announce shock plan to rival Sky Sports and BT Sport for Premier League TV rights

STREAMING giants DAZN have announced a shock plan to rival Sky Sports and BT Sport for Premier League TV rights – but fans are far from impressed.DAZN confirmed securing rights to Prem football is a ‘high-priority’ for the company.

The streaming giants are one of boxing’s main broadcasters and have even snatched former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua from rivals Sky.
And they plan on doing the same but with Prem football, rivalling both Sky and BT.
DAZN already forks out £747million a season to host the domestic rights for Serie A football.
They also have a ten-year worldwide deal with NFL worth close to £840m.

DAZN chief executive Shay Segev says plans to get Prem football are well underway.
Speaking to The Times, he said: “Football is obviously very big in the UK and EPL is an option on our menu.
“If the question is do we have any ambition to go to this market, the answer is of course yes. And it’s not only ambition it’s a high priority on my list.
“DAZN is a sports service and clearly we will try to get bigger packages but the maths needs to work.

“The question is the economic situation, the competition and whether we will be in a position to be strong enough to position ourselves as the best.
“I am very, very confident that in the mid to long-term we can be a big player in the UK.
“Whether this takes, two years, five years, seven years, time will tell.”
Segev says DAZN taking on English top-flight football would further boost revenue.
He explained: “In the old world there is a conflict of interest between the [sports] and the broadcasters.
“We don’t want competition and we want to pay the least we can. The new world is a partnership deal, a revenue-sharing deal.
“The clubs and leagues expect to get a specific level, then we can come in and guarantee some level of revenues and are also looking for the upside as well and we will be focused on the upside.”
DAZN have time to put together their bid ahead of next year’s auction that will see rights for the 2025-28 seasons decided.
The current deal running from 2022 and running until 2025 and is worth a whopping £4.8billion.
The Daily Mail state that there is concern that the Premier League would be unhappy with more than three media outlets hosting the rights.
That could mean one of Sky, BT, or Amazon would have to drop out.
However, DAZN’s announcement has left fans groaning.
Sports fans are already paying for Sky, BT and in the festive season, Amazon.
One said on Twitter: “The Premier League need to go on their own. Make their own app and leave the rest behind imo.”
Another tweeted: “Hope they don’t get it.

“They charge £20 a month for boxing alone. Imagine if they got PL games.”
