Tommy Fury’s fight with Paul Bamba in doubt amid weight row with Jack Fincham’s opponent Anthony Taylor eyed for rematch

TOMMY FURY’S fight with Paul Bamba is in doubt on the day of the event as a disagreement over the weight rumbles on.Bamba was left fuming after he scaled within the 175lb light-heavyweight limit, while Fury came in at 181.4lb.

The American, 33, was not happy, having conceded half a STONE, and wanted to be paid a compensation fee.
But despite two days of negotiations, no settlement has yet been reached, leaving Bamba’s intentions to fight in doubt.
He tweeted: “The promoter just told Me acting like a diva over a “little” extra weight.
“All this from a man who has never fought in his life..”

It leaves Anthony Taylor, who lost to Fury in August 2021, in line to receive an unlikely and last-minute rematch.
But his opponent, 2018 Love Island winner Jack Fincham, would unfortunately be out of the card, headlined by Floyd Mayweather, as a result.
Fury’s team actually negotiated a higher weight in his contract, believed to be 178 ½lb, meaning he was still 3lb overweight.
But this was not made aware to Bamba, who agreed to a light-heavyweight bout.
And despite being offered a financial compensation, it appears no deal was struck.
SunSport understands Jake Paul’s manager Nakisa Bidarian, would thrash out terms for Taylor, 33, to step in and rematch Fury, 23, if needed.

The two-weight world champ – who has battled addiction and depression – was 15st when he took up the challenge but looked a first-class athlete on Saturday night.
That was despite the fact that Hatton jokingly made his ring walk flanked by two nurses as he pulled himself along on a zimmer frame.
The Man City super-fan enjoyed 8x2min rounds with a few trademark body shots and even suffered a nice shiny bruise on his right cheek to prove he still loves a tear-up before both men had their hands raised in the exhibition “draw”.
And he has vowed to continue his diet and training regime in case any more throw-back legends bouts are offered up.

Hatton said: “I got everything and more than I hoped from that. I didn’t know how it would go but it was entertaining.
“I have done loads of good things in boxing – world titles to Las Vegas – but this is up there with one of the best.”

But Smith has never looked hurt or wobbled so is likely to be edging these rounds on the scorecards.
    Smith vs Benjamin – R5
Another close round with less action.
Smith’s defence very clever and he’s always hunting a counter attack.
Benjamin has been fearless against one of the UK’s hottest fighting prospects.
Team Benjamin tell their man that Smith is about to step-up his attacks.
    Smith vs Benjamin – R4
The fight catches fire with meaty shots and violent exchanges.
Smith lands the cleaner and crisper single shots.
But Benjamin always returns with quicksilver combinations that should impress the judges.
If Smith lands flush he could end it early.
    Smith vs Benjamin – R3
Smiths looks to counter Benjamin’s attacks spectacularly with an uppercut off the backfoot.
Benjamin appears to have tasted the British champ’s power and not been too scared of it.
A Smith left hook grazed Benjamin but failed to wobble the challenger.
    Smith vs Benjamin – R2
The pair swap stiff jabs but then Smith drills in his first serious right hand.
Benjamin’s knees dip but don’t buckle.
The Sheffield man snatched that round with that right hand.
    Smith vs Benjamin – R1
Kaisee Benjamin gets right at the British champion, walking him down in Manchester in the opener.
Smith lunges in at the end with his first serious attacl but nothing somes of it.
Benjamin might have sneaked that super-light opener.
    BIG PHRASE
The winner says: “I got to show everyone my repetoire.
“I needed six rounds and that shows I need to learn and work harder.
“It was a good step in the right direction. I am a 4-0 pro still learning the game.”
