‘He’s not a killer’ – Anthony Joshua called out by forgotten rival Jarrell Miller who says Oleksandr Usyk ‘beat him up’

JARRELL MILLER claimed Anthony Joshua is “not a killer” after Oleksandr Usyk “beat him up.” Miller, who failed to fight AJ in 2019 after a series of failed drug tests, still wants to settle the score with his old rival.

And he believes Joshua, 33, is damaged goods following consecutive defeats to unbeaten unified champion Usyk, 35.
Miller, 34, said on the BOXR podcast: “I’ve still got to punch that scallywag, crumpets and tea because if you watching, ever since I punked his a*** in New York he’s never been the same.
“He lost all his marbles, Andy [Ruiz Jr] smoked him, Usyk smoked him twice.
“I tell people this, media can be your worst enemy or your best friend. Media was both, it made him be something that he wasn’t.

“He’s not a killer, he’s not an animal, he’s not a savage. I know killers and savages in the ring, he’s not one of them.
“So, I always knew that, and I knew whenever he’s in front of a super tough task he’s going to crumble, he’s going to crack, and Usyk just ran from him and beat him up.”
Joshua is set to return in the new year after taking a break from boxing to recover mentally.
Whereas Miller wants to get back in the ring after being granted a professional boxing licence in Las Vegas again.

The shamed heavyweight was initially hit with a two-year ban dating back to a positive test ahead of his proposed fight with Jerry Forrest.
But the Nevada State Athletic Commission have now cleared Miller to fight just over two years on.
Miller infamously failed three Voluntary Anti-Doping Association pre-fight drug tests before he was set to face Joshua over three years ago.
He blamed his failed test before fighting AJ on a tainted supplement and stem cell shots in his elbow.
AJ went on to suffer a shock loss, the first of his career, against stand-in Andy Ruiz Jr, 33.
Miller in 2020 earned a contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank stable but again tested positive for a banned substance.
This time the ex-kickboxer put it down to a SEX PILL and was handed a two-year suspension.
Miller enrolled in VADA testing in December 2020 and has returned clean drug tests since, which saw him able to return this summer.

‘I don’t like him’ – Tommy Fury says Jake Paul fight is personal and vows to ‘break his face in’ after agreeing new bout

TOMMY FURY said his feud with Jake Paul has become personal and vowed to “break his face in” after agreeing to a rescheduled fight. Dad and coach John claimed he shook hands with Paul’s manager Nakisa Bidarian over a bout in February, set for Dubai.

The YouTuber-turned boxer was a special guest commentator at the Coca-Cola Arena as Fury boxed late replacement Rolly Lambert in an exhibition.
Paul, 25, heckled from ringside and the two later clashed post-fight with security having to restrain them as their rivalry hit new heights.
Fury, 23, told iFL TV: “I don’t like him. At the start it was kind of like, he’s a big YouTuber, I’ve just come off Love Island, it’ll be a massive fight.
“But as the months have gone down, I don’t like this fella and when I get in the ring with him, I’m going to break his face in.

“He’s one man I don’t like and that’s not for the camera, there’s no bulls*** involved in that, this is genuine bad blood.
“I don’t like him and when he gets in that ring with me, I’m going to rearrange his face.”
Twice the celebrity boxing foes have signed to fight but both times Fury was withdrawn.
He suffered a rib injury last December and then was pulled out in the rehashed date in August amid a US visa issue, which still persists.

Dad John named Dubai as the venue to renegotiate after striking a verbal deal with Paul’s advisor Bidarian.
He said: “Contracts mean nothing to me but a handshake does and my word, you can build a tower block on it.
“He’s given me his word, his manager, we fight in February. And where better place? The world of Dubai.”
Paul beat 47-year-old UFC legend Anderson Silva in his last fight in October, the biggest win in his 6-0 career.
Fury was set to return against 5-2 American Paul Bamba, 33, but the bout was dramatically scrapped on the day due to a weight disagreement.

Instead, 17-bout Lambert, 33, filled in on just hours notice but it was unable to be sanctioned as a professional fight.
Fury got six valuable rounds under his belt and vowed to become the man to stop Paul’s gravy train.
He said: “My blood boils when I see him and I’m going to do what everyone wants me to do and that’s end this man.
“Because Canelo ain’t going to put an end to him because Canelo’s out of his league completely, Canelo ain’t never going to fight him.

Deji was halted on his feet in the corner following a barrage of punches by Mayweather, but contested that it was premature.

“I’m like ‘No – like breakfast beans’. And she said ‘What is this?’ – because they don’t have beans for breakfast in America.
“So I got a picture up and she’s like ‘Oh, like barbecue beans’ – because they have barbecue stuff.

Bridges will take on O’Connell, 39, who hit out at her fellow Aussie for the way she has “gone about” building her career.
In a heated online press conference with Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn, O’Connell blasted: “I don’t like the way Ebanie has gone about things.

“We never got recognised and there was no respect in the sport for women.
“And I believe that people like Katie Taylor… everyone has worked so hard to gain that respect and then doing things the way Ebanie has done them has brought them back down.”
Ebanie then interrupted: “You’re saying I haven’t had it the hard way because I’m just a little bit different.”
O’Connell then hit back bluntly: “Well because you get your clothes off to be seen.”

British boxing’s only female promoter Susannah Schofield fighting for change and wants the sport BACK on BBC

BRITISH BOXING’S only female promoter is fighting to get the sport back on the BBC.Susannah Schofield OBE invested thousands of her own pounds to get her Unified Promotions show on in Rotherham’s Magna Carta arena last month.

And the former Royal Mail director delivered the card to the BBC’s iplayer platform, in the hope of convincing the terrestrial giant to return to the sport.
Casual fans and broadcasters get turned off when the biggest mega-money fights fall through because of doping scandals or clashing egos and companies or end with dodgy scorecards.
But the trailblazer for women’s business has seen enough of the sports positive side to know she wants to help return it to our primetime screens and she’s ready to KO some of the dusty old scams that are holding the sport back.
Schofield, 47 – who is focused on growing the female code but runs mixed cards – told SunSport: “I did twenty years at the Royal Mail so I am used to a very male, testosterone-fuelled environments.

“And I have always been a boxing fan and loved watching the era of Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson.
“I set Unified up a couple of years ago and did a couple of small shows and thankfully the BBC came and took a look at our last show and said they liked what they saw.
“They were honest enough to say it will be an uphill struggle but we had brilliant viewing figures and now we want to move forward.
“Now we need people to put their money where their mouths are because male sports are still very well sponsored but when you go looking for investment in female sports, the reaction is usually very different.

“I funded the last event personally and privately to help with our long-term goal but that cannot go on forever so we hope to make it a commercial success soon.”
Schofield has done more than her fair share of research too and shared the rancour among boxing fans who watched the Government spurn the sport during the pandemic when they dished out £300million.
Vote-hungry politicians like Boris Johnson race to local gyms to slap pads when they want more working class voters in their corner.
But when gyms were closed down it took personal donations from the likes of Anthony Joshua to keep them afloat.
Niche sports like basketball, ice hockey and badminton got handouts while boxing starved.
“What was that about?” she added? “That was absolutely crazy.
“Research tells you that if you put a boxing gym in a London town it can halve the crime rate, almost overnight because it teaches kids controlled aggression and how to work as a team.
“I love that part of boxing but it does come with some other parts – in the professional sphere – that are not so easy to love.”
Former Royal Mail director Susannah Schofield wants to deliver more for female fightersCredit: Unified Boxing
Female fighting enjoyed a surge in popularity during lockdown – at behind-closed-doors shows – but there remains a huge gender gap in pay and support that Schofield wants to shorten.
“My job is to normalise womens boxing,” he said. “You don’t think twice about seeing a woman in MMA, or taking a karate class, on a horse or behind the wheel of a car.
“If people watch more womens fights – ours and everyone else’s – they will realise the quality is there.
“I have had female friends who are put off by the idea, then they watch – mainly in support of me – and they change their minds completely.
“Hopefully we and the BBC can work together to get more and more eyeballs on the female sport.”
Certain things have to change at the British Boxing Board of Control, with some of the regulations still archaic.
Schofield – with a hint of humour – explained: “The groin protector is still one fixed height for men and women.
“That might protect a bloke’s crown jewels perfectly, but one punch in the wrong place could do more damage to a woman’s ovaries than her not wearing at all.
“That needs to be changed and maybe we need a new rules and regulations book for women because the current one – printed in 2021 – still lists what HE must and must not do, what HE can and cannot do.
“We are not an add-on anymore, we are part of the industry, it’s a serious sport and we want to be a serious part of it.

“We want to follow rules and regulations, we want to gurantee the wellbing of ALL boxers and get them all fairly paid.
“This should be a much cleaner and healthier business and the idea of doing any other way is just wrong because it’s such a dangerous sport.” More
