ANTHONY YARDE secured his January 28 world title shot at Artur Beterbiev with a warm-up comeback KO inside three rounds. The 31-year-old light-heavyweight ace has lured Russia’s WBC, IBF and WBO boss over to Wembley Arena for the start of 2023 and just had to dispatch Stefani Koykov on Saturday night to rubber stamp it.

The Beast from the East had been out of the ring 350 days since his rematch win over Lyndon Arthur.
But he only needed eight minutes to wipe out the overmatched 30-year-old Bulgarian in Telford and tee up his second world title bid.
Ahead of facing the terrifying 18-0 Soviet KO artist, Yarde said: “Stylistically, me against Beterbiev is a blockbuster fight.
    “Someone is getting knocked out.

“He has been dropped before and he has been in deep water before, he is only human.
“The belts, the history, the legacy, that is what I am in the game for.”
Koykov was a live opponent and fancied his longshot chances, chasing Yarde down from the first bell and landing a left hook.

But the visitor was cracked a couple of times by the Brit’s golden gloves, stunned by one short and sharp uppercut that rocked back his shaved head.
A Yarde right hook to Koykov’s left flank was spiteful as well but did not drop the Germany-based visitor.
Arsenal fan Yarde fired cannons into Koykov’s body in the second but the under-fire underdog did well to stay on his feet.
Yarde refused to rush his shift, after almost a year out, and when the stoppage came it was precise.
Koykov’s body was peppered with vicious hooks and then the Englishman went up stairs with a slashing uppercut and folded his man for the count.
Yarde added: “That wasn’t flawless but no performance ever is.
“But I have so much confidence going into my next fight.
“When I beat him I want his spot on the pound-for-pound list.

That prompted a scathing retort from Paul, who said: “You and your papa are both frauds.

The shocking moment occurred after the weigh-ins as Danis entered the stage to go nose-to-nose with KSI.

Floyd Mayweather claims Logan Paul bout wasn’t ‘real’ and he would have KO’d YouTuber in first round in pro bout

FLOYD MAYWEATHER claimed his exhibition with Logan Paul was not a ‘real fight’ – and would have won in round one if it was. The American legend returned to the ring in June 2021 for the eight-round spectacle bout, and gave away TWO STONE in doing so.

And Paul scored a huge moral victory after taking it the distance, meaning no winner was technically declared.
But Mayweather has now insisted had the fight been professionally sanctioned, with his 50-0 record on the line, then it would have been a different story.
He said: “I did an exhibition with the YouTuber Logan Paul. We had fun.
“People have gotta know, there’s a difference between a real fight and an exhibition. All I did was work out from time to time.

“If it was a real fight, it would’ve been a blowout in the first round.”
Mayweather hung up the gloves as a pro in 2017 after beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor in ten rounds.
But he has since returned in exhibitions, and did so firstly against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 23, in 2018.
Mayweather knocked out Mikuru Asakura in two rounds of their exhibition bout – in front of old rival Manny Pacquiao.

The two wins in one night had fans calling for a fight with Jake Paul, who is forging his own career in boxing.
And to step up his pursuit of Paul, it was confirmed KSI would return in January, with Paul’s former two-time opponent Woodley in pole position to accept a showdown.
Woodley recently came face-to-face with KSI at ringside at Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition with Deji.
Woodley demanded the paperwork be signed – but the fight now appears to be OFF.

The former UFC star went on a scathing rant on social media, accusing KSI of trying to weight-drain him, while also leaking the fight contract.
He first wrote: “Warned this b****! KSI, Why would you offer me a fight vs you then bail? Why would u send me a contract to b**** out and take a lesser opponent?
“Why would you have my name in your mouth for two years and not step up?
“Why do a poll of one million people, that all said fight me, and you run.”

Woodley continued: “When KSI blames it on Logan Paul and his injury or budget, I have two companies that will fund the purse. Try again. I’m done talking about it. My last post on it.”
In a leaked screenshot, the contract reads: “Maximum of 175lb at the official weigh-in on the day before the bout, and shall be a maximum of 185lb in the afternoon on the day of the fight.
“Promoter will use best endeavours to ensure the local commission administer this second weigh-in.
“If the boxer is overweight at either weigh-in, the promoter will be given the option to terminate the agreement and cancel the bout.”
A rehydration clause means that a fighter cannot gain more than a pre-agreed weight after the weigh-in and before the bout.
Woodley – who is considered one of the best 170lb fighters in UFC history – weighed in at 190lb mark for both of his defeats by Paul.
KSI is expected to announce a new opponent in the near future. More
