      The pair have been on a collision course for months as the fight was originally scheduled to take place in October.
      But an injury to Beterbiev set the fight back until the end of January.
      Yarde has fought for a world title before, losing by knockout to Sergey Kovalev back in 2019.
      But he had some BIG chances to put away his Russian opponent, but seemed to lack the experience to take the opportunity.
      The London man then fought twice with Lyndon Arthur, losing the first on points before winning the second via knockout.
      Beterbiev is 18-0 as a professional and has won every single one of his fights by knockout.
      It’s no surprise he is avoided by most – so Yarde already deserves some plaudits for taking on the beast

      “Since I’ve started boxing I’ve not had more than one week out of the gym,” Yarde said.
      “Beterbiev had more than 200 amateur fights and 18 professional, but I’m going to be sharp and focused.
      “In the light-heavyweight division, he has been nothing but a wrecking ball, knocking out every opponent so far.
      “He’s very powerful but I feel I’m faster and, by age, I’m fresher, but in experience, I’m behind him.”

      Jake Paul’s grudge match with Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia faces DELAY as fight announcement closes in

      THE anticipated grudge match between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury faces another delay – by just 24 hours. Fans of the two celebrity boxing stars are fearing the worst with the fight yet to be confirmed.

      But according to journalist Ariel Helwani, the bout is set to end up on Sunday, February 26, with “an announcement shortly”.
      Initially the fight was due to land a day beforehand, with Saudi Arabia all-but confirmed to host.
      The two are now trying to settle their score in the ring for the THIRD time.
      Fury, 23, was forced to pull out in December 2021 due to a rib injury and then last August amid a US visa issue.

      The travel woe still persists today, which left the UK and Saudi as frontrunners to host the bitter bout.
      Paul, 26, even offered to travel to Manchester on February 18 and fight Fury in enemy territory.
      But a more lucrative deal in Saudi Arabia a week later was proposed and looks to have won the race.
      Fury last boxed in Dubai in November in a last-minute exhibition against Rolly Lambert, 33.

      Paul was a special guest commentator that night and slammed the six-round bout from ringside.
      It came a month after the American beat UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, over eight rounds to go 6-0.
      Paul appeared to respond to concerns over his next fight and pointed towards the pregnancy of Fury’s girlfriend Molly-Mae.
      He tweeted: “Hold your horses. The man’s having a baby.”
      But Paul looks to be on track still, having travelled to Dubai to finish his camp for the Saudi fight with Fury.
      And his boxing banner Most Valuable Promotions also posted: “Jumping towards that announcement? You know what it is. Coming soon.”

      And Saudi Arabia has emerged as a frontrunner to host the historic title fight with the boxers negotiating separate deals.
      Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum confirmed an agreement to fight is in place with the date and venue to be imminently announced.
      Arum told Sky Sports: “I think both of the fighters have agreed to the fight, I think the question is where the site will be. 
      “That will be sorted out hopefully next week and we’ll have an announcement shortly.

      “If the fight goes to the Middle East it will be sometime after Ramadan and if the fight is in the UK it will be the beginning of April.”
      Arum has refused to rule out Fury, 34, fighting Usyk, 35, on home soil at Wembley Stadium.
      But he admitted the prizefighters could be convinced over to the desert, where the most money can be made.
      Arum said: “It depends what the deals are and so forth.

      Between them, they’ve won British, Commonwealth, European and world titles and dozens of championship belts.
      Having interviewed the conquering quartet many times they have always shown the utmost respect for their opponents.
      That is why I found it so shocking Liam — completely out of character — tarnished his impeccable reputation by attacking Chris Eubank Jr with homophobic insults at a press conference before their fight last Saturday.
      Liam soon realised he was way out of order and had the good grace and sense to apologise profusely for his remarks.

      The 34-year-old former WBO world light-middleweight champ said: “I apologise to anyone offended by what I said — I’m not homophobic in any way, shape or form.”
      Eubank Jr allowed himself to be provoked and retaliated with obnoxious accusations of infidelity by his rival.
      At least after Smith had blitzed his way to a shock fourth-round win they ended up hugging each other in the ring to put their unacceptable behaviour behind them.
      But that does not mean this particular unsavoury episode is over.

      The pair have been summoned by British Boxing Board of Control stewards to appear before a disciplinary hearing next month.
      When Tyson Fury previously faced a similar charge for a repulsive rant at a press conference he got a hefty fine.
      And although Liam has not stepped out of line before in a 15-year pro career he also deserves to receive a stiff penalty — if only as a deterrent to others.
      It is about time the Board got tough with fighters over this modern trash-talking trend that seems to be getting increasingly out of hand.
      Promoters and TV executives love it as they feel that kind of provocative behaviour increases ticket sales and pay-per-view buys.
      Yet it has been the case that if a fight is attractive enough it will still sell out before either boxer has said a word.
      PAY-PER-FRUSTRATED-VIEWS
      There appears to be a growing resentment among fans about the increase in the number of fights that can be seen only on PPV — many with no justification.
      A recent letter in Boxing News from a Chris Kyle summed it up.
      He wrote: “I’m at a loss to justify why I’m paying Sky and BT £20 per month for 30 days of sports in the hope that they may show at least one decent boxing show that comes included with my subscription fee.”
      Referring to the non-title clash between Smith and Eubank Jr that cost £19.95 on Sky Sports PPV, he added: “With the greatest respect to both fighters, this is hardly a battle the world has been crying out for.”
      But as it turned out the majority who paid no doubt thought they had got value for their money as they saw a surprise upset and a spectacular knockout.
      It’s interesting unbeaten Artur Beterbiev — one of the world’s elite fighters who has won all his 18 fights by KO — defends his WBC, IBF and WBO world light-heavyweight titles against Anthony Yarde tomorrow.

      It is live on BT yet it isn’t on PPV, so that will certainly please Mr Kyle.
      Brit Yarde must be given the proverbial puncher’s chance but Russian-born Canadian Beterbiev is a massive 1-8 favourite and everything points to the Ilford man being another of our gallant losers.

      “But, I am 100 per cent confident he will knock him out.
      “It’s a big ask for Jake Paul, because Tommy is much better than what he’s faced before, so fair do’s to him.

      However, his team reportedly believe Smith may have used an elbow during the first of Eubank Jr’s two knockdowns.
      And they are now considering appealing to the British Boxing Board of Control.
      Kalle Sauerland of Wasserman Boxing, told Sky Sports: “We are looking at it.”
      Meanwhile, Eubank Jr’s trainer Roy Jones Jr wrote on Instagram after Eddie Hearn claimed the Brighton man has declined under his stewardship : “Avoid Roy Jones Jr as a trainer! Never mind this elbow…… Just avoid him.

      In regards to a rematch, Sauerland added: “We obviously have that rematch clause, but we’ll let the dust settle.

      Before the fight even happened, Eubank Jr admitted he was concerned by the possibility of Smith involving an elbow.

      He said: “I was dominating the fight and then I got caught. In my mind, I’m still the better fighter.
      “Obviously I wouldn’t have much of an argument after a loss, but I have an argument to prove I’m the better fighter.
      “He caught me with a once-in-a-lifetime shot. I feel like I was dominating the fight before that happened.

      Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn has lined up the Brixton Body Snatcher for a summer showdown with AJ, although an official offer has yet to be sent out.
      The recent WBC heavyweight title challenger told The Daily Mail: “Eddie has talked a lot about the fight, but they couldn’t commit to actually making it.
      “Waste of time talking about it! We’ve had no offer for that fight or serious talks. It’s very frustrating.”
      Joshua, 33, will look to get his career back on track in April with a clash against Franklin at London’s O2 Arena.
