Tyson Fury’s team hope to miraculously save Oleksandr Usyk fight after deal broke down hours from being signed off

TYSON FURY vs Oleksandr Usyk is currently OFF with promoter Frank Warren trying to work one final miracle to save it.The deal for the Wembley April 29 heavyweight undisputed decider was hours from being signed off before a row on Tuesday grounded negotiations on the final straight.

Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas has blamed the 34-year-old WBC Gypsy King for the collapse, saying: “No matter how much Usyk compromised, he was pushed for more”.
But SunSport understands Team Fury will lay the blame at 36-year-old Usyk’s door for making unrealistic demands behind the scenes.
Southpaw mastermind Usyk undoubtedly called Fury’s bluff by accepting a paltry 30 per cent of the mega-money showdown.
And then the 6ft 9in Brit pulled off another coup by getting the rematch clause ripped up.

However he pushed his luck too far when he posted one final video mocking Usyk and his team for taking the skinny end of the four-belt showdown.
Fury’s faux pas was roaring: “You get what you’re getting, don’t worry.
“You got your fighter to accept 30 percent, you bum dosser.
“You got outwitted by a man who never went to school in his life, sausage!”

Hall-of-fame promoter Frank Warren and his Queensberry team hope the deal can be resurrected in the next 24 hours.
Despite the planned bout being just five weeks away, they had done all the groundwork to get the fight on track to be another record-breaking Wembley spectacular.
If the fantasy fight really is dead then WBA, IBF and WBO boss Usyk will have to fight Fury’s stablemate and WBA mandatory Daniel Dubious.
Fury will cancel his April 29 date and not rush into a hastily made Plan B, returning to the drawing board for a summer showdown of his own.
The frustrating talks have been rumbling on since August, when it was slated for Saudi Arabia and included a rematch.
After the Sheikh’s pulled down, Fury successfully moved the goalposts to make it a 70-30 split in his favour.

Canny Usyk snapped up the offer, on the provision Fury donated £1million to help his war-ravaged nation of Ukraine fight off Russia and rebuild.
But then Fury countered with a demand to have the rematch clause – that had always previously  been included – ripped up.
Fury then went into camp, drafted in southpaw sparring and had trainer Sugarhill Steward fly in from America but there was still no solid confirmation that all the caveats had been agreed to and on Tuesday night, the dreaded news broke.
Seen as Usyk had already agreed to a stingy slice of the pie and fight in Fury’s backyard yard where he would concede crucial home advantage, it’s no surprise he has baulked at axing the rematch.
If the London 2012 Olympic winner gets a dodgy decision on foreign soil – where Fury would have close to 100,000 fans cheering him on potentially swaying the three judges – it would be a travesty for him to have no chance at instant redemption.

Fury and his team are now sure to blame Usyk for ducking out and the Eastern European’s will return fire with claims and accusations of greed.
It’s another sorry state of affairs for boxing that needed this bout so much.

Boxing fans were counting down the days until April 29 when it appeared Fury and Usyk had managed to strike an agreement.
A fight between the pair would unify the heavyweight division.
And it would also have seen the UK finally host one of the most anticipated battles in boxing history.
Negotiations between Fury and Usyk had dragged on for months before April 29 was chosen as a date.

But it appears the bout will not go ahead after the duo failed to conclude terms over the purse.
And according to Usyk’s agent Egis Klimas, that all falls at the feet of WBC king Fury.

He said: “No matter how much Usyk compromised, he was pushed for more.”
Usyk is now plotting a mandatory defence of his belts in either June or July.

AJ’s career hangs in the balance following back-to-back losses to pound-for-pound king Oleksandr Usyk and defeat to the American could potentially put the final nail into the coffin for his world title hopes.
Hearn is relishing seeing what the Watford warrior has learned under the tutelage of Derrick James in Texas, but is worried about Franklin being a potential banana skin.
During an appearance on talkSPORT, the Matchroom Boxing chief said: “AJ’s looking good but I’m nervous.

Hearn believes the psychological effects of defeat to Usyk and Franklin’s impressive display against Dillian Whyte last November make the April Fools Day clash a tricky one for AJ.
He continued: “Let’s look at the facts: he’s coming off two defeats to the pound-for-pound No 1 Oleksandr Usyk, but you saw the emotional side to AJ in the last performance and after the fight.
“Franklin is full of confidence coming off the Dillian Whyte fight and he looks all of a sudden about 20lbs lighter as well.

“Franklin is a good fighter who is going to come well equipped but AJ has worked himself hard out there in humble, humble surroundings.”
Joshua, 33, has isolated himself in Texas in a bid to rediscover his mojo along with new head trainer James.
Hearn said: “This is just him, Derrick James and Errol Spence. Just hard work.
“I think this is the hardest he’s ever worked in camp.
“And I really hope that he can produce the performance that he deserves on April 1 because I believe he’s still in his prime.
“But he has to beat Jermaine Franklin.”

Joshua is relishing the high-stakes showdown, saying: “I have to take Franklin even more seriously than I did Usyk.
“Not comparing them, but now I just know better.
“What I went through and how I trained was not enough, so I now know that I have to put even more pressure on myself to perform better.

But recently, Plemons uploaded a video to his YouTube channel in which he spoke about a potential KSI vs Jake Paul match-up.
Plemons stated in the video, titled ‘KSI vs Jake Paul.. Is NOT Happening’, that a fight between Paul and Floyd Mayweather would sell more PPVs.
He also said that Paul would most likely want to entertain a rematch with Tommy Fury first.
But the claims have irked KSI.

What did KSI say about Wade Plemons?
“Man, f*** Wade,” KSI ranted on Twitter.
“This Wade guy plays all sides. Trying to please everyone. You are so fake, omg. F* you and everything you stand for, you two-faced c*.
“This man acts like he knows everything about boxing. He doesn’t know s***. You’re not that guy.”
KSI’s manager Mams Taylor then confirmed that Plemons had been let go from Misfits Boxing.

“It’s been long coming. I’ve been nothing but fair with Wade. People can have the wrong impression of me, I don’t care.
“But they know JJ better than that. Obviously, there is more to it than just today’s video. A lot more.
“DAZN didn’t know anything about Wade before I insisted he would be brought in.”
Paul, however, has criticised KSI and Taylor over it, backing Plemons in the process.
“Such insecure clowns,” Paul said. “Wade is quality. Plays it down the middle.
“Says things about me I don’t like, but that just means he’s keeping his opinions real. Now back to my vacation.” More

The content creator predicted, with Paul having lost to Tommy Fury, a rematch is likely to follow.
And he questioned whether that bout, and a fight with Floyd Mayweather, would sell more pay-per-views than the KSI fight.
It appeared to strike a nerve with KSI, who went on a furious rampage on Twitter.

Taylor remarked: “Have fun on KingPyn.” In reference to a rival crossover boxing promotion.
The music mogul confirmed Plemons’ sacking in a statement to Fred Beck , in which he said: “It wasn’t over today he got fired.

It did not take long for Paul to interject in the feud – which he is partially involved in – to back Plemons.
He tweeted: “Such insecure clowns. Wade is quality. Plays it down the middle.
“Says things about me I don’t like, but that just means he’s keeping his opinions real. Now back to my vacation.”

Plemons said in response: “We don’t see eye to eye on much of anything but I respect and appreciate this. Thanks man.”
KSI also denied that his anger came from a single video and pointed towards Plemons’ criticism of Misfits’ tag-team boxing match.
He tweeted: “The initial hatred towards the tag team boxing that he put out publicly but privately loved the idea.
“He literally just says and does what the public want to hear. While privately trying to please everyone.
“I’m done with it. Be your true self publicly and privately towards me.”
But Plemons hit back: “My opinions around the tag team idea was never “Hate” I had concerns over it’s safety and ruleset, and I needed to see it happen.
“When I saw it I GLADLY found that those precautious were taken. I’m not sure where JJ is getting this but “behind the scenes” I said the same thing.”
Plemons received public backing from fans, who criticised his dismissal from Misfits events.
KSI later deleted his rant but followed up with: “To you it’s an overreaction but to me it’s a build up of a lot of things behind the scenes.
“You can have a public opinion but don’t come to me on a switch up when you see me in person.
“Sorry for my outburst but I’m human, I’m gonna get angry sometimes.”

And Plemons replied: “I understand I ruffle some feathers at misfits with my takes on things, but I don’t and have never switched up on you in person or online.

Anthony Joshua was TRICKED into fighting Oleksandr Usyk after Ukrainian held back against Derek Chisora, claims Froch

OLEKSANDR USYK tricked Anthony Joshua into fighting him by holding back against Derek Chisora, claimed Carl Froch. Usyk was taken all the way to a close points decision on the scorecards by Chisora in October 2020.

The Ukrainian maintained his mandatory title shot at Anthony Joshua’s belts but raised questions over his ability at heavyweight.
Two years later and Usyk twice beat Joshua, leaving Froch to believe the ex-cruiserweight king pulled a fast one.
He said on his YouTube channel: “That night against Chisora, he just took his time. He was playing mind games with the opponents.
“He knew Anthony Joshua was watching that, and he was thinking to himself, ‘If I show all my toolbox in this first heavyweight fight, I’m going to scare him off.’

“So I think he never got out of second gear with Chisora. I’m not taking anything away from Chisora.
“Chisora will go in there with anyone, he’s lost more than he’s won at world title level but he gives them a hard fight and he certainly gave Usyk a hard night.
“But I think Usyk took his time, just used his jab, moved around, didn’t really get out of second gear, certainly didn’t get anything past third gear and got the comfortable win on points.
“And I think AJ would’ve looked at that and thought, ‘I can beat this guy; he’s struggling up at heavyweight.’

“Obviously, he took the fight AJ did and Usyk outclassed him and became unified champion.”
Joshua, 33, now returns on April 1 against Jermaine Franklin, 29, following his consecutive losses.
And Usyk, 36, is in talks to unify the heavyweight belts against Tyson Fury, 34, on April 29 at Wembley.
Although Froch fears the clock is ticking to ensure the first ever four-belt undisputed fight stays on track.
He said: “I do think it will happen, but my main concern is the six week time constraint. It’s not long for a world title fight to happen.
“But if it doesn’t happen now, it’s on Tyson Fury and I think it looks terrible for him.
“Remember Tyson Fury on the build up to the AJ fight? He was saying he’d fight Joshua for free and give the money to charity.
“Now all of a sudden the Usyk fight’s happening and he’s demanding 70 per cent of the purse.
