Conor McGregor left me a bit shy when I met him but now he FaceTimes telling me to get some sleep, reveals Eddie Hearn

EDDIE HEARN admitted Conor McGregor left him a little shy when they first met… now they catch up over FaceTime. The UFC legend has thrown his support to Hearn, who is bringing Katie Taylor back to Ireland for the first time in her professional career.
Conor McGregor with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn
In February, the pair met up at McGregor’s Black Forge Inn pub in Dublin to discuss Taylor’s homecoming fight.
And Hearn revealed he was left a little starstruck by the MMA superstar, who is now sponsoring this Saturday’s fight.
But after going into business with each other, McGregor, 34, is checking in to make sure the promoter is getting his beauty sleep.
Hearn told SunSport in Dublin: “We’re getting on very well.

“He FaceTimed me and it was almost like a brother phoning me up last night, or a dad going, ‘Alright? Good day today, I’ve seen it all.’ Good work, make sure you get some sleep, you need to go again tomorrow.’
“I was like, ‘Alright, thanks a lot.’ We’re out pushing all his brands and looking forward to seeing him tonight.”
McGregor’s Forged Irish Stout and Tidl recovery spay are official sponsors of Taylor’s undisputed fight with Chantelle Cameron.
But Hearn – who has raved about McGregor’s stout – seems to have got the ex-UFC champion’s unmatched promotional skills included in the deal.

He said: “He’s paying us but I think I’m overworking at the moment for Conor McGregor.
“But look, it works well together. I’m pushing his brands, he’s supporting Katie which is most important to him and he’s pushing the show.
“I love Conor McGregor, I think he’s amazing. I was a little bit, shy when I met him, don’t mind saying he’s a superstar.
“But, he obviously likes what we do, he knows we’re genuine, his support is genuine.
“He’ll be here tonight and he’ll add that extra element to the fight.”
Taylor, 36, returns home for Ireland’s first boxing event since 2014.
And she will move up to challenge super-lightweight champion Cameron, 32, after Amanda Serrano, 32, pulled out of their rematch injured.
Hearn, who has promoted stadium fights in the UK, Mexico and America, believes the historic Irish return could top the lot.
He said: “I can sort of tell you a dozen nights that I’ll remember forever that stand out for me, and this is well in there – and that’s before the fight.

Tyson Fury brands Joe Rogan a ‘bald-headed midget’ in X-rated rant after taking offence at podcast host’s prediction

TYSON FURY has branded Joe Rogan a “bald-headed midget” in an astonishing X-rated rant. Fury, 34, took to his Instagram story to respond to a prediction made by the controversial podcast host.

It came after Rogan predicted Jon Jones would walk out of a room with him and FuryCredit: Getty
Rogan predicted MMA star Jon Jones would be the one to walk out of a room if he and Fury were locked in one together.
However, the Gypsy King did not like the idea of his crown being challenged and took to social media to address the comments, tagging Rogan in his story as well.
He said: “I’m the baddest man on the planet.
“I heard Joe Rogan say something about me, and I’ve been off all the social medias and didn’t reply to that little p****. Little f****** midget, bald-headed midget.

“I heard him say that Jon Jones could f*** me up if we were in the room together. I don’t think so.
Fury then channelled his inner Shakespeare, adding: “Not a man born from a mother could f*** me up, in a room, on our own.
“Whatever happens in that room, I’d be walking out. Not a f****** problem.”
Fury could be seen pacing around the gym during the video, perhaps in preparation for his next bout.

But with failed arrangements against Oleksandr Usyk and Andy Ruiz Jr already this year, Fury has now not fought since December – something he blames on the rest of the division.
Following Fury’s reply, Jones – who became UFC’s heavyweight champion in March after going up a weight division – waded into the debate.
Taking to Twitter he said: “Hey Tyson, it seems like Joe may have struck a nerve.
“I’ll admit there’s no one touching you in that ring right now, but let’s not let that confuse you with what would happen if you stepped foot in my cage.
“If you ever want to put some of those questions you got going on to rest, give Dana a call. I’ll help you out.”
Jones has won 27 of his 28 UFC bouts, with his one loss coming via disqualification against Matt Hamill after 12-to-6 illegal elbows.
Meanwhile, Fury has 33 wins and one draw from his 34 fights, including 24 KO wins.
UFC commentator Rogan had said: “You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet? If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all of my chips on black.
“Tyson Fury is an amazing boxer – he doesn’t have a f***ing chance in hell of making it out of that room.

“He has no chance of making it out of that room. Zero chance. [Fury] would have to catch Jon immediately with one punch, and I just don’t see that happening, man.
“The threat of the takedown looms so large. That shot will come so unexpectedly. When he gets his hands around you, you’ll be so stunned.” More

Tyson Fury rants ‘boxing has gone to s***’ as he begs for summer fight by calling out Anthony Joshua and Usyk

TYSON FURY has blamed everyone else in the heavyweight division for his lack of action this year. The 34-year-old WBC heavyweight king tried to lure Anthony Joshua into a short-notice December showdown but the London 2012 legend pulled out.

But it was Fury who walked away from a Saudi-funded Undisputed decider with Oleksandr Usyk, after the Ukraine icon had signed his side of the contract for a 50-50 split.
And it was the Gypsy King who moved the goalposts so many times over a possible Wembley spectacular that Usyk was forced to walk away from the farcical negotiations.
Fury did enter talks for a July defence against former WBA, IBF and WBO champ Andy Ruiz Jr but the little Mexican, who stunned AJ in 2019, asked for too much money.
It looks like Fury could end up a pointless spectacle against MMA heavyweight Francis Ngannou, which would make millions but mean nitto.

And the undefeated Morecambe mastermind seems to be getting frustrated by the sorry affair, moaning on Instagram: “Since I have been away from boxing, boxing has gone to a load of s***, absolute s***.

He cried: “Zhang would have been a good little fight but Joyce wants the rematch so that’s not happening now.

I’ve sparred Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte but none hit as hard as world champion LIGHTER than them

THOMAS CARTY is the heavyweight prospect making a name for himself for his secret sparring sessions with the biggest stars in boxing. Carty is only 5-0, with four knockouts, but he has already shared the ring with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

That is despite being managed by former world title challenger Dillian Whyte, who has boxed but been beaten by AJ and Fury.
So Carty finds himself in the middle of the warring British trio – but manages to stay out of the firing line.
He told SunSport: “It is a bit weird in fairness, it’s crazy to think I’m managed by Dillian, one of the top five guys but then I’ve sparred Fury, sparred AJ.
“I’ve been in with them all really from the top level bar Wilder, it’s a weird one but sparring is just work at the end of the day.

“And I’m really sought-after sparring, absolutely it’s a tight-knit community. There’s always people looking for me to go sparring with them.
“But unless it’s worth my while experience-wise or financially, I don’t really entertain it as much. I can’t be travelling sparring all the time.”
Carty’s slick southpaw style makes him an in-demand face among boxing’s most respected gyms.
And the only sparring partners missing from Carty’s elite list is Oleksandr Usyk, 36, and Deontay Wilder, 37.
    Most read in Boxing
He said: “I’ve sparred Hrgovic, Chisora, Bryant Jennings, I’ve sparred Lawrence Okolie.
“I’ve sparred obviously AJ, Dillian Whyte, Fury, sparred some other really top heavyweights, some European guys you probably haven’t heard of.
“I’ve sparred them all really, other than Usyk or Wilder.”
Fury, 34, hired Carty, 27, earlier in the year when he looked to be in line for an undisputed title fight with Usyk.
Talks were short lived but it allowed the Irishman to get a glimpse of greatness up close and personal.
He said: “Fury’s conditioning was really frightening, it was next level to be completely honest. It really surprised me.”
And despite trading leather with some super heavyweights, it is actually cruiserweight champ Okolie, 30, who left the biggest mark.
Fury after sparring Brit prospect Carty
Fury welcomed Carty into his gym and passed on some words of wisdom
Carty said: “Lawrence Okolie has been one of the hardest hitters. He’s a  cruiserweight and a really, really sharp puncher.”
The Irishman returns on Saturday against eccentric Scot Jay McFarlane, 25, on Katie Taylor’s undercard.
Taylor, 36, challenges Chantelle Cameron, 32, for all super-lightweight titles in the first fight in Ireland since 2014.
It has inspired Carty to clean up the domestic titles before moving onto world honours.
He said: “After this, I really want to win the Irish title. Once I’ve collected the Celtic, title, then I want the Irish title to the collection.
“World rankings definitely, but I want to tidy things up domestically.
“People are skipping too much, I want to go after the Irish and the Celtic title and them move forward.

“I’m in absolutely no rush, I’m 27 years of age, with an experienced team everyone is getting me the right fights and the right time.”

Eddie Hearn open to promoting Conor McGregor but says UFC star is too rich to risk losing to a ‘plonker’ like Jake Paul

EDDIE HEARN would love to promote a Conor McGregor fight – but said he is far too rich to risk losing to a “plonker” like Jake Paul. The UFC superstar has thrown his support Hearn’s way ahead of Katie Taylor’s homecoming bout in Ireland this Saturday.

The pair have partnered up with McGregor’s Forged Irish Stout and recovery spray Tidl sponsoring the event.
Hearn met up with the ex-UFC champion at his Black Forge Inn pub to discuss plans to bring Taylor back home.
And the promoter could not help himself from bringing up the subject of McGregor getting back in the ring one day too.
Hearn told SunSport: “We talked about boxing but obviously he’s with the UFC and I respect Dana.

“He also knows what he’s doing, he’s been around and if we ever get involved in promoting a fight for him, it would be fantastic.

“I was like, ‘Alright, thanks a lot.’ We’re out pushing all his brands and looking forward to seeing him tonight.”
McGregor, 34, made his professional boxing debut in 2017, losing to American legend Floyd Mayweather, 46.

The crossover blockbuster needed the special permission from the UFC to get over the line, something the company has not done since.
That is despite McGregor being linked with facing the likes of Canelo Alvarez, 32, and Manny Pacquiao, 44, in the past.
But Hearn reckons it would not be worth McGregor answering the callouts from YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul, 26.
Asked who McGregor could box, he said: “Jake Paul, Nate Diaz, I dunno but I don’t think he needs to do it.
“He’s made his money, he’s a great mixed martial artist. You don’t want to go in there and lose to someone you don’t really like.
“It’s one thing losing to Floyd Mayweather, you don’t want to lose to a plonker.”
He also knows what he’s doing, he’s been around and if we ever get involved in promoting a fight for him, it would be fantastic. Eddie Hearn on Conor McGregor
Women’s boxing sensation Taylor, 36, moves up to challenge Chantelle Cameron, 32, for the undisputed super-lightweight titles.
It will be her only ever fight in Ireland since turning pro and the first in the region since 2014.
So McGregor would not miss the occasion for the world – and has found himself joining Hearn in promoting the event.
“It works well together,” Hearn said.
“I’m pushing his brands, he’s supporting Katie which is most important to him and he’s pushing the show.

Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder ‘almost’ signed with grudge match close to being announced for December

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s long-awaited showdown with Deontay Wilder is on the verge of being finalised.Talks over the pair’s long overdue grudge match – which is on course to land in Saudi Arabia this winter – began in April.

Wilder’s head coach has claimed the fight is ‘almost’ signedCredit: INSTAGRAM@MALIKKINGSCOTT
Unlike their first round of negotiations five years ago, talks between both camps have gone swimmingly – so much so that Wilder’s head coach – Malik Scott – expects an imminent announcement.
He told Betway: “Without going into too much detail about the business aspect of it, everything’s been said, talked about, negotiated, but nothing’s been signed.
“But signing is almost upon us. But the negotiations definitely are happening.
“The moves are being made. The business aspect is definitely being taken care of.

“And most of all Deontay Wilder is being taken care of and is going to get paid very well for his services, and that’s the most important part to me.”
Joshua and Wilder’s long-awaited meeting is set to be part of a four-man tournament involving Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
And Scott claims the December dust-ups will take place on the SAME night.
He said: “I can confirm that the aim is to make both fights in one night.

“But the only fight that I know for sure if there’s a strong possibility of it happening and is being negotiated is Deontay and AJ.”
Boxing fans were dying for Joshua and Wilder, 33 and 37 respectively, to throw down when they held all the heavyweight marbles five years ago.
Joshua, back then, was tipped by many to get the better of the hard-hitting Bronze Bomber – although the prediction pendulum has since swung the other way.
And Scott is adamant his man will turn AJ’s lights out, saying:” My prediction is a third or fourth round knockout, Deontay wins by knockout.
“I don’t want to come down too hard on AJ or anything like that but he isn’t in the same class as Deontay.
“He’s going out there with a systemised game plan now, he’s going out with a system of discipline and humility.
“And I believe if he sticks with that system there is not a man that can beat him.”
Former unified heavyweight champion Joshua hasn’t set foot in the ring since his scrappy points win over Jermaine Franklin last month.

And promoter Eddie Hearn recently revealed he’d like the Watford warrior to take another warm-up fight before throwing down with the former WBC king.
The Matchroom Boxing chief said: “If they [the Saudis] can’t get [Tyson] Fury-Usyk over the line, they will still do AJ vs. Wilder.
“You hit the numbers that we want, and then we work backward on that for the August fight that he [Joshua] will be having.
“We all believe he needs that fight in August and more time with [trainer] Derrick James, more preparation for Deontay Wilder, and then that’s it.
“Who we choose will be dependent on if we get that Wilder deal done.
“I like the Dillian Whyte fight [for Joshua]. Whether he gets the Wilder fight done or not, I like that fight.

“I think it’s a fight that AJ will get up for.
“I think it’s a fight that he can have some spite for, and it’s a fight that is dangerous.” More
