The fight was far from a classic, with their collective inexperience in the ring on show in moments throughout.
Diaz’s trademark confidence and swagger were on display , goading Paul and even pretending to stumble after the latter landed a blow.
But perhaps the most notable moment from Diaz’s performance was when he was pulled aside and told off by the referee for attempting to headbutt Paul.
And fans rapidly took to Twitter to comment on the bizarre moment, such as one who tweeted: “Nate Diaz just threw a baby headbutt jokingly to end this round 8 lmao. At least we’re entertained.”

Another said: “Nate DIAZ is an absolute legend. No care in the f**king world, raising his hands after every round, cheeky little headbutt towards the end of the round too.”
While another comment read: “Nate Diaz with his best round of the fight in the eighth.
“And true to form, ends with an attempted headbutt after the bell.”
The fight continued and Diaz grew into the bout as the rounds drew on.

However, ultimately Paul won via unanimous decision in the tenth round.
But it could have ended so much sooner, with Paul having landed a brutal left hook in the fifth round that left Diaz floored.
However, Diaz was able to continue after getting back to his feet, and was left unphased in the long run.
He would continue to show off his less-than-serious attitude throughout, raising his arms in celebration after every round.
As for the next step, while nothing is seemingly set in stone, Diaz and Paul said post-fight they would be open to potentially face off in the octagon.

    “We’re going to talk.”
    Paul booed after Diaz win
Jake Paul branded his haters ‘virgins’ as he received a chorus of boos after beating Nate Diaz.
Paul, 26, dropped Diaz in the fifth round with a neat check left hook but did little to impress those in attendance at the American Airlines Center.

Diaz confirms he will box again
Nate Diaz has revealed he plans to return to the boxing ring despite losing to Jake Paul on his professional debut.
Asked whether he will box again, he said: “100%. Talk about experience. […] I didn’t even get cut today. I get cut in every MMA fight I fight in.
“I have nobody’s [name] in mind right now, but […] next week, get back to me.
“I’m sure I’ll have a list full of motherf***ers’ asses to whip.
More from Diaz on Paul and THAT chokehold
“[The chokehold was a] done deal. In a real fight, the fight’s over, and I would have secured the win, but we were participating in a boxing match, and it was a good time, and now I know… I’ve trained my whole career in boxing with pro boxers on the highest level, high as I could get, and I’ve done really well.
“I’ve never fought in a pro fight, so I thought I’d f**k up anybody. The guillotine… that was too easy.
“The takedown was too easy too – I got the punch, his whole weight was in my chest. In MMA they smash my head and fuck me up.
“I didn’t think I won. I knew he got the knockdown, but I figured I won a good amount of rounds.”

    Paul costs Drake $1 million
Jake Paul cost rap superstar Drake a whopping $1MILLION with his win over Nate Diaz.
The Problem Child returned to the win column early on Sunday morning with a decision victory over the former UFC star in their Dallas dust-up.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul was the bookies’ favourite to win the crossover clash, but that didn’t stop Drizzy from staking a staggering $250,000 bet on Diaz.
Drake shared his pre-fight wager on his Instagram story, writing: “Jake is a dog but I can never bet against a Diaz brother.
“That’s just how I was raised.”
The Canadian stood to make a cool $1m off his bet, although Paul well and truly scuppered the massive wager.

    Diaz gives assessment of Paul
“He needed a takedown. He needed a choke. He did a good job. He’s a f***ing athletic, strong dude and he hits hard and fast, but it ain’t nothing I hadn’t seen before, and I trained with people who were [like that].
“These guys can throw down. It’s good s**t. […] I should have been throwing punches, keeping him on the outside.
“I’m not trying to make an excuse, but about a month back I hurt my […] right arm, a bit.
“I think I should’ve kept to the outside and circled, and done better stuff. But it’s all good.
“There’s no way I [wouldn’t] show up for a fight because of something like that. You gotta go regardless, no matter what. ”
    Paul addresses Fury defeat
Jake Paul insists his loss to Tommy Fury in February was a positive for his boxing career.
Speaking after the win over Diaz, he said: “The loss was seriously the best thing.
“It set me on the path I was supposed to be on and you can’t cut corners in this sport.
“I was in the gym the day after the loss.
“I flew back from the Middle East and went to the gym every single day up until this fight.”
    Paul on his training camp
“I’m a new fighter. The new team we brought in, the new strength and conditioning—- everything was new and I worked harder this camp. It pushed me to my limits.
“There were moments in the gym where I thought, ‘Damn I don’t even know if I can do this,’ but I just kept on believing in myself and now my gas tank is crazy.
“I could have kept on going. I could have gone 12 rounds and we are just stepping up and up, and after doing it in three years- I’m happy with myself.”
Paul on what it’s like fighting Diaz
“It was fun and I knew he was trying to take breaks so I would pounce on him when he was doing that.
“We were talking to each other the whole fight.
“When you’re in there with another dog, you can sense it.
“It just makes the sport more fun and this fight was probably the most memorable yet.”

The older Paul sat watching the clash in his wrestling gear as Jake, 26, claimed a unanimous decision victory over UFC legend Diaz.
But it did not all go swimmingly during the course of the fight as Logan got embroiled in an altercation with fans.

Paul made a spectacular entrance at the American Airlines Center – riding a military-grade tank.
And the fired-up former Disney star came out of the traps quickly in the opening round, backing Diaz up with power shots.

A left hook staggered the UFC fan favourite into the ropes and he looked to be in trouble.
But the ever-resilient Diaz fought it off and made it into the second round.
Paul began to invest in the body with combinations and was forced to fight back on the inside with uppercuts exchanged.
Team Paul were happy with what they saw in the early stages of the fight – in particular brother Logan.
The fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer-turned-WWE-star jetted hundreds of miles after wrestling Ricochet at Summerslam to cheer on his younger sibling.
By the fourth round, Diaz began to come forward in his trademark style, leaving Paul to stand his ground and trade back.
Paul drew first blood on the halfway mark as he dropped Diaz in the fifth round.
A check left hook on the top of the head left him tumbling into the ropes but he was soon to his feet.
Diaz actually ended the round strong, pouring the pressure and putting Paul on the back foot.

The pace of the bout slowed in the sixth and both began to look sloppier and visibly more tired.
Diaz seemed to get his second wind in the final third of the fight, pressing Paul.
But the self-proclaimed Problem Child was sharp boxing on the retreat, walking Diaz into counters.
Diaz began to pander the crowd down the stretch, pretending to be hurt and refusing to engage.
As the bell rang for the tenth round both came out with intent but it was Paul who landed the cleaner.
Diaz finished strong but it proved too little too late, as Paul boxed his way to another points win and called for a rematch in MMA.

“Make it fair, I won one, now it’s your chance in your territory, MMA let’s do it.”
Paul’s return to the win column somewhat got the taste of defeat to Fury out of his mouth.
But he was quickly trolled by long-time rival KSI for going the distance with Diaz just minutes after having his hand raised.
