Eddie Hearn reveals Anthony Joshua could take ‘ANOTHER’ fight before Deontay Wilder as negotiations are ‘slow’

EDDIE HEARN admits Anthony Joshua could be back in action as early as “December” – despite being deep in talks over a 2024 grudge match with Deontay Wilder.Negotiations over the duo’s long-overdue grudge match began before Joshua’s axed domestic dust-up with Dillian Whyte last month.

Talks over the January joust resumed after Joshua obliterated short-notice replacement Robert Helenius but have ground to a halt due to Wilder’s eagerness to have a warm-up fight.
And the potential delay could lead to a third outing of the year for the poster boy of British boxing.
When pressed on the negotiations, Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn told The DAZN Boxing Show: “It’s slow, I won’t lie.
“Obviously, it’s a massive fight and these things take time.

“Everything is kind of agreed other than the signing of the paperwork.
“We know that takes time, especially in that part of the world.
“For me, the biggest concern is AJ wants to fight in December or January, we know the Wilder fight is not going to happen in December so we’re happy to wait until January.
“But if that fight starts pushing back to February or March, don’t be surprised if he still signs for that fight but has another one in between.”

Despite being desperate to face Wilder next, Hearn admits a tick-over fight is something Joshua would welcome.
He said: “He’s loving the activity at the moment.
“He’s loving being in training camp, he’s loving working with Derrick James.
“But our full focus is to sign the Deontay Wilder fight.
“I’m not disappointed but we want to get it done.
“The conversations have to extend to [Oleksandr] Usyk and [Tyson] Fury, they could be on the same card – who knows?
“So there’s a lot of conversations to be had. I truly believe that Wilder is up for and ready for this fight. We’re in a good place.”
Joshua’s explosive victory over Helenius was his second straight win since his back-to-back losses to former pound-for-pound king Oleksandr Usyk.

Daniel Dubois formally files appeal against Oleksandr Usyk defeat following controversial ‘low blow’ call

DANIEL DUBOIS’ promoter has formally appealed against his loss to Oleksandr Usyk following a controversial “low blow” call. Dubois was beaten in nine rounds by the masterful Ukrainian world champion in Poland.

But in the fifth round he had Usyk on the floor following a shot to the midsection – which referee Luis Pabon adjudged to be low.
Usyk took full advantage of the five minutes to recover but opinions were divided on whether it was low or not.
Heartbroken Dubois and his fuming promoter Frank Warren vowed to fight the result and now they have appealed to the WBA.
Warren called for the bout to be declared a “no contest” with the loss being chalked off and a rematch being requested.

The Hall of Fame promoter argued: “Daniel Dubois was unjustly denied of his rightful status as unified world heavyweight champion.”
It also makes the claim that Usyk would not have got up from Dubois’ body shot had it not been ruled a low blow.
The appeal read: “Mr Dubois landed a body blow that dropped and severely hurt Mr Usyk and, seemingly, crowned Mr Dubois the heavyweight champion.”
They maintain the “blow was incorrectly adjudicated as low by Mr Pabon.”

Dubois was floored twice before failing to beat the ref’s count and faced accusations of quitting.
But the devastated challenger spoke out in the ring after the loss to insist he was robbed of a world title.
Dubois said: “I think that landed and I’ve been cheated out of victory tonight. What else can I say?”

And the slimmed down version of PapiCredit: Twitter @HappyPunch
Papi rose to fame by making TikTok skits during Covid lockdown.
His name is a play on SaltBae, and he would often post budget versions of the steak salesman’s video on his page.
When exploring British takeaways, he would imitate the Turkish chef’s famous technique of pouring salt from above his shoulder with a twist.
The videos allowed him to slowly build his social media following until he had over 4.2million followers on TikTok and a total 125.8 million likes across all of his videos.

His life changed dramatically when he fought Hamad Khan in March 2022.
Boxing slowly became Papi’s passion, and it saw him lose a whopping 165lbs.
After beating Khan, he then took part in KSI’s boxing event and faced Andy Warski on August 27.
Salt Papi knocked out Warski – who was making his debut – inside 15 seconds at the O2 Arena.

This caught the eye of a fellow social media star, Logan Paul who within seconds of Salt Papi’s win he tweeted: “Salt Papi vs Jake Paul.”
Salt Papi also impressed Chris Eubank Jr who said: “The guy went to sleep, incredible.
“If you look at him, he looks like he works a nine-to-five at a cheese factory, so to see him come out there, moonwalk, dance, lick his lips and then knock a guy out, that’s box office right there.”
He knocked out Josh Brueckner in January 2023.
And far from looking like he does a “nine-to-five at a cheese factory” as Eubank said, he now looks unrecognisably slim.
But he will be looking to bounce back from his last time out in the ring, when he lost to Anthony Taylor, a professional boxer who had previously fought Tommy Fury.
Papi had made considerable waves in the YouTube boxing sphere, and actually went into the fight as a slight favourite.
However, Taylor’s experience proved to be too much.
Papi will be hoping his slimmed down physique will lead to even better performances the next time he enters the ring. More

And he ramped up his work by sparring rising welterweight contender Garry with boxing and MMA rounds.
He posted a series of images and footage of the sessions to leave fans in awe as one said: “The karate stance and fluidity is back.”
Another added: “The last kick is vintage McGregor”
McGregor, 35, is yet to fight since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in the first round of their trilogy bout.

He is set to face Michael Chandler, 37, next after the pair coached on The Ultimate Fighter together.
But McGregor has been out of the UFC’s all-year round random United States Anti-Doping Agency testing.
And in order to return, he would be required to complete six months of clean USADA testing unless given an exemption, throwing his chances of a fight this year into doubt.
Garry, 25, meanwhile is building towards a title shot having recently moved to 13-0 after beating Neil Magny.

He was motivated into a career in MMA after watching McGregor’s meteoric rise in the sport.
And Garry revealed he even even has a tattoo which was inspired by his hero.
He told Sporting Post: “I always like to get a tattoo before and after a fight because I want something physical to connect in time with a memory, with moments that are powerful for me.
“I don’t have a lot of time to get tattoos, so there’s only a certain window I can use to get them. And I want every single tattoo that I have to have a lot of meaning.
“The daisy tattoo is because I made my UFC debut at Madison Square Garden at 23 years of age, and for me that was a massive dream come true. To be 23 and fighting for the UFC at MSG.
“And I won by first round knockout and Conor McGregor jumped on Twitter, and he said: ‘Ian, you little f**king Daisy.’
“And I went, that’s it, I’m going to get a little daisy tattoo and get it on the right hand that I cracked the opponent with.”
“My relationship with Conor is the same as everybody else who is a fan of him.

Jake Paul promises he will make huge KSI grudge match happen but says rival is ‘hiding’ from fight

JAKE PAUL has promised to make sure he finally fights KSI but claimed his rival is hiding behind contract clauses. The YouTubers-turned boxers have rivalled ever since KSI beat Jake’s brother Logan in their 2019 rematch following their draw a year earlier.

But KSI has since teamed up with Logan to form the surging drinks company Prime – which has caused friction with Jake.
It has set the stage for the mother of all grudge matches in the influencer boxing space but no deal has been struck.
And while speaking to Twitch streamer Adin Ross, Jake claimed there is only one man to blame for that.
He said: “It’s gonna happen, it I mean it has to happen. It has to happen, we’ll make it happen, for sure.

“I’ve been trying to do it, man. He then goes online and like lies about it. Certain clauses and stuff.
“What happens in boxing is if they don’t really want to do it, they just hide behind all these crazy clauses to make it seem like it’s the contract that’s holding everything up but really it’s the person who doesn’t want to do it.
“And it’s like look, I’ve fought everybody, every single time. Anyone who asks to fight me, I did the deal, I made it happen.
“They want ten round? OK, cool. They want this? OK, let’s f***ing do it. So I make these fights happen back to back to back to back for past three-and-a-half years.

“And people think that I’m the one that wouldn’t make it happen? It’s like, come on guys let’s be realistic here.
“And I told them, I’ll do it in the UK, you can be the A-side, I don’t give a f*** about any of that.
“So it’s like, where is the contract hold up? Oh no, you just don’t want to do it.”
KSI’s manager Mams Taylor hit back: “Does this guy actually ever stop lying? It’s so natural to him it’s scary.”
Jake, 26, was beaten for the first time in February, losing a split-decision to Tommy Fury, 24, in Saudi Arabia.
But he snubbed a rematch to instead return in August to beat ex-UFC star Nate Diaz, 38, over ten rounds.
Now Fury is set to fight KSI, 30, on October 14 in Manchester with Jake set to be in attendance with Logan, 28, fighting on the undercard.

Paul initially called out McGregor to bet $1m (£800,000) on the outcome but he then doubled the terms.
The American, 28, is yet to hear back but claimed the UFC legend, 35, has put a bet worth around £160,000 down at the bookies.
Paul said: “He’s not behind Dillon, bro.
“If he was behind Dillon he’d take my $1m bet, there’s a reason he completely ghosted me.

“Dillon mentioned that Conor put money on him in the face-to-face, he goes, ‘Conor put $200k on me.’
“And I’m like, ‘Then why wouldn’t he take my f***ing bet then. Conor knows, bro, he doesn’t believe in his fighter, his fighter doesn’t believe in himself, when I look at Dillon I see a broken individual.
“If he thinks he’s broken now? Wait until October 14, I’m going to break him entirely.”

And Paul upped the ante with his wager during an episode of comedian Andrew Schulz’s podcast.
He said: “I asked Dillon about it in the face-to-face I was like, ‘Where’s Daddy Conor, your f***ing boy, if he’s so confident in you?’
“He goes, ‘Don’t worry about that, blah blah.’ He has no answer. Conor, you know what?
“I’ll tell you what Mr Moneybags, I’m going to make this more interesting for you, how about we double it?
“We make it $2m – $2m says I beat your boy Dillon Danis. I know you’re going to see this clip, you’re coaching him, guiding him, he’s definitely going to show up?
“F*** you, both of you are all bark, no bite. $2m says I beat your boy and I’ll send you the contract tomorrow.
“But I guarantee you he’s not going to respond. All bark, no bite, both of them.”
