AJ, 34, is now aiming to continue his career rebuild with a third outing of the year in December.
Promoter Eddie Hearn drew up a contingency plan in case the Wilder fight fell through and has revealed that Agit Kabayel, Filip Hrgovic and Otto Wallin are all in the running to be the Watford warrior’s next opponent.
The Matchroom Boxing chief told SecondsOut: “If he’s going to fight someone in December, I’m not saying it’s going to be Charr, but it could be [Agit] Kabayel.
“It could be Hrgovich or Wallin out of this situation to see what happens.

“It’s not going to be Deontay Wilder, it’s not going to be Andy Ruiz, and it’s not going to be [Zhieli] Zhang. So, you have to look at the top 15. ”
Joshua could fight on the undercard of Conor Benn’s family grudge match with Chris Eubank Jr, which SunSport understands is set to land in the Middle East on December 23.
Should a suitable opponent fail to emerge, Team AJ will look to have their man take to the ring after the turn of the New Year.
Hearn said: “We’re more on the date than the opponent. He wants to fight in December.

“Because, in his head, he said, ‘I wanted to fight three times in the year.’
“I said, ‘Yeah, but you fought in April.’ He said, ‘No, I want to fight three times in 2023.’
“So, he would like to get out in December, and we have to keep a close eye on the 23rd because we don’t know what’s going to happen.
“50-50, but if not December, 100% in January.”
Joshua got back to winning ways in April with a scrappy points victory over Jermaine Franklin at The O2 Arena.
And he got his knockout mojo back in August with a brutal seventh-round stoppage of veteran heavyweight Robert Helenius.

Froch watched the fights at a pub in Nottingham and has now predicted the death of influencer boxing, even dubbing the main event a “load of c**p”.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he explained: “It’s a load of c**p as far as I’m concerned, because they’re not qualified, they’re not experienced or good enough to be in a boxing ring.
“They’d probably be better off wrestling or doing some kind of controlled cage fight, because they can’t box. Their technique is so poor that as soon as the bell goes I switch off.
“The pub I was in watching it, the bar was full of kids, 18 up to about 23 or 24, young men and women.

“And they were booing and shaking their heads and coming over to me and saying, ‘what do you think of that, what a load of rubbish’.
“I think eventually it’s going to do itself out with these performances, people are going to switch off and stop watching it.
“Who have you got, Jake Paul, Logan Paul, KSI and Dillon Danis, but who else is leading the pack? I think it may have run its course, but we’ll see.”
The card at the AO Arena in Manchester was headlined by KSI vs Tommy Fury.

Usyk and Fury had reportedly been set to put their heavyweight titles on the line in ten weeks’ time.
However, Usyk has now revealed he needs 14 weeks to prepare for each of his fights.
He has also suggested he has yet to start training and will not do so until he knows the exact date he is facing Fury.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he explained: “I can’t say that everything’s OK, but I’m fine.

“Some wounds, old injuries need to be healed. Everything’s under control.
“I do my training sessions everyday, but I need 14 weeks for my camp. It would be enough time for me.
“The first weeks I’m doing my work that helps me to get ready for the training camp. Then I’m working hard for the next 12 weeks.”
Usyk successfully defended his IBF, IBO, WBA Super and WBO heavyweight titles against Daniel Dubois back in August.

The 36-year-old secured a ninth round knockout victory over Dubois in Poland.
He continued: “I would like to known exact day and place. Knowing it allows me to plan my training camp and choose its place. All these help me to start preparing.
“I understand that promotion of the match is important and necessary – it is a component of the show.
“But when I know the day and the place I can put on my helmet, close the visor and set off.”
As for Fury, the Gypsy King is set to take on former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia next weekend.
His WBC world title will not be on the line, though, but the ten-round fight will count as an official bout. More

KSI hires lawyer as he starts legal battle to appeal Tommy Fury fight result after controversial defeat

It was eventually overturned to a unanimous after it was revealed the even score was actually totted up wrong.
KSI was left raging after the result was read out and warned that he would launch an appeal with the Professional Boxing Association.
The PBA – who sanctioned the bout – announced Chase DeMoor, Alexia Grace and Alex Wassabi had all launched appeals.
And KSI’s manager Mams Taylor revealed they are in the process of doing the same after hiring legal help.

Taylor posted: “JJ has instructed a King’s Counsel who advised the PBA yesterday that he would be appealing the result of the fight.
“For obvious reasons, we will not get into the specifics of the appeal publicly and allow the process to play out in accordance with PBA rules.”
Fury, 24, threw more punches at 159 compared to KSI’s 124 and landed one more shot at 38.
But he was less accurate with 25 per cent of his punches landing with KSI’s connecting with 31 per cent.

The YouTube, music and crossover boxing star kicked up a fuss following his first defeat and planned to take action.
He said: “We’re going to appeal. I want to appeal. I’m sorry, that is outrageous. We need to see it again. I felt like I won that.”
KSI, 30, later broke his social media silence and put on Instagram: “Appreciate all the kind messages from everyone.
“In the ring and watching it back I feel like I should have won. Either way I feel like I accomplished what I wanted to in the end.

“What is the gain for family? A minute of fame? If one of them had a strategy where they wanted to showcase themselves for some reason then yes, a great opportunity, but they don’t.”
Joshua, 34, and Fury, 35, have frustratingly failed in the past to ever get their blockbuster showdown over the line.
And AJ admitted his career would not be complete if he does not share the ring with the Gypsy King or Deontay Wilder, 37.
He said: “If I don’t fight Fury or Deontay Wilder, one of those two, then yes.
“But I am not waiting around till I’m 40. I can’t drag my career out waiting.
“In between waiting, I will have to do more fights, more training camps, more pressure.”

But first, the WBC champion returns next Saturday in a crossover clash against ex-UFC star Ngannou.
And despite the Cameroonian powerhouse, 37, making his boxing debut, Fury argued he will be tougher than unbeaten Usyk.
Fury told ESPN: “A lot of people are on about this undisputed fight, fantastic.
“But I have a much more dangerous person to deal with next, I believe.

“Francis is a bigger man, stronger, more powerful and has knockout capability. Usyk, he doesn’t really do much damage to people he hits.”
Fury has flirted with retirement in the past but has made several U-turns on when he will call it a day.
And having already lined up his next pair of bouts, the Gypsy King now hopes it will be just two of many.
Fury said: “I’m looking to sign another ten-fight deal after this, so I don’t know, I’m going to put my feelers out there and see who I can get the best deal off for another ten fights.
