      Francis Ngannou changed my life with ‘unbelievable’ payout after Tyson Fury fight, reveals UFC legend’s coach

      Ngannou was reportedly very well paid for his professional boxing debut with the 37-year-old said to have earned around £8.7MILLION.
      And the incredible sum didn’t just change his life, but also the life of his coach for the fight, Eric Nicksick.
      The Cameroon-born fighter has been coached by Nicksick since 2018 and certainly thanked the American for his help after the fight.
      Nicksick revealed that Ngannou’s generosity following his split-decision loss to Fury has flipped his life upside down.

      Speaking to MMA Junkie, he said: “It was the most money I’ve ever been paid by a fighter – it was unbelievable,
      “It was more than I expected. Obviously, Francis has always taken great care of me, but it floored me.”
      Boxers are generally understood to pay coaches anywhere between five and 20 per cent of their earnings following a fight.
      And whatever figure it was that Ngannou gave Nicksick it certainly left him grateful for the changes it allowed him to make.

      He went on to say: “When I saw my Wells Fargo account that morning, it literally brought me to tears.
      “That’s a true story. Literally brought me to tears because he changed my life – not only from a professional standpoint, but a monetary standpoint.
      “It allowed me a lot of financial freedom. To allow me to be able to enjoy my coaching, enjoy being a dad and a husband,
      “And I get to take my kids to Park City this weekend, for my daughter’s 16th birthday. It helped us buy a new car.
      “There’s a lot of things with Francis moving over to boxing, and the way he takes care of his team.
      “He loves every single one of us and he shows it. He takes care of us, and I couldn’t thank him enough.” More

      Anthony Joshua has three-man shortlist for next fight but fans say ‘only one makes boxing sense’

      ANTHONY JOSHUA has a three-man shortlist for his next fight – but fans only want one name. AJ was set for a March 9 blockbuster against Deontay Wilder until the American blew the £100million deal by losing to Joseph Parker.

      So now Joshua has to turn his attention elsewhere and Eddie Hearn wants him to fight the winner between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
      But the promoter also named Filip Hrgovic, Zhilei Zhang and Francis Ngannou as alternatives.
      Hearn told iFL TV: “Right now, we have three fights that we’re in discussions for.
      “They’re all big and that doesn’t involve Deontay Wilder for March. Our aim, and they’ve expressed this is to fight the winner of Fury-Usyk.

      “That’s all we want to do, obviously there’s the Hrgovic fight out there for the world heavyweight title.
      “There’s a Francis Ngannou fight out there which would be absolutely colossal.
      “There’s other heavyweights as well, there’s a Zhang fight possible as well with Queensberry.”
      Fury, 35, and Usyk, 36, are believed to have signed a two-fight deal that could produce a rematch between the pair.

      And it would likely mean the winner would lose the IBF title for being unable to face mandatory challenger Hrgovic, 31.
      So Joshua and Hearn are looking to capitalise by facing the Croatian for what would be a vacant title.
      Meanwhile ex-UFC champion Ngannou crossed over to boxing in October to make his ring debut against Fury.
      And he astonishingly dropped the WBC champ but was controversially beaten on points.
      Ngannou, 37, has expressed his interest in remaining in boxing with a rematch against Fury and a Joshua fight touted.
      And Zhang, 40, is riding high off consecutive stoppage wins over Joe Joyce, 38.
      Following Hearn’s three-man shortlist of opponents fans called for the Hrgovic fight.
      One said: “If AJ is serious about a legacy and becoming three time world champion, he stays away from the big money, novelty fight against Ngannou. Hrgovic is the only one that makes boxing sense.”
      Another added: “It will be Hrgovic for a title.”

      He began his camp in Morecambe but has now touched down in the Middle East to continue training – much to the delight of his fans.
      One said: “He is taking this very seriously. Getting there weeks before the fight to acclimatise to Saudi fully.
      “Adjusting to every tiny detail like he is at home. Smart choice.”
      Another added: “If he’s there that early he is taking very seriously. Let’s go the gypsy king.”

      Another said: “No question that he’s taking it seriously.”
      Fury spent Christmas with wife Paris and his seven kids, but swerved a New Year’s celebration at home to get preparations under way.
      He almost suffered a disastrous and embarrassing defeat against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou, 37, the last time he was in Saudi in October.

      Fury, 35, was dropped by the massive underdog and deemed fortunate to walk away with a controversial win on the scorecards.
      He touched down in Saudi only a week before that fight, but things look to be different for the historic unification with Usyk, 36.
      His own dad John hit out at his training camp for the Ngannou fight and claimed even now it is a “CIRCUS”.
      John even said his son’s training camp showed he was “in decline”, leading to fears he could be outclassed by Usyk.
      But Fury’s Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren was quick to speak out in defence of the undefeated WBC champion.
      Warren told Boxing Social: “Tyson’s the guy getting in the ring. His dad has obviously got his views. Everybody’s got a view.
      “Obviously his dad cares about him but, at the end of the day, Tyson’s getting in the ring and it’s his decision who he has to train him.”

      It backdated his unification bout with Usyk from December to February 17 and former super-middleweight champion Froch fears the worst.
      He told talkSPORT: “2024 is going to be a fantastic year. Hopefully with a close humdinger with Fury and Usyk.
      “I’m picking Usyk for that one, just because of where Tyson Fury is mentally.

      “Hopefully Fury can have a good camp and rekindle some of his old greatness in terms of when he fought Deontay Wilder three times.
      “He looked good, he looked different every time. I don’t know, that’s gone now. He struggles to get the weight off him.
      “He seems under-motivated. When he fought Ngannou he looked confused. Has he got old overnight?
      “Hopefully he turns up and gets the job done, because I want those titles to return to Britain, but at the minute I think Usyk wins that fight.”

      But when he stepped up to fight unbeaten boxer Tommy Fury, 24, in February, he was beaten by split-decision in Saudi Arabia.
      He bounced back in August on points against UFC veteran Nate Diaz, 38, but it would be the last time Paul, 26, took on a non boxer.
      Paul returned against little-known 10-1-1 Andre August, 35, and knocked out the seasoned American in the first round.
      Now the American is set to return on March 2 in Puerto Rico on the undercard of Amanda Serrano’s homecoming bout.

      No opponent has been named but all signs point towards another traditional boxer as Paul looks to build real credibility in the ring.
      Muhammad Ali’s grandson Nico – a 9-1 middleweight – has been left impressed by Paul’s change of lane.
      Nico, 23, told SunSport: “I give him a ton of respect. His last fight he fought a legitimate boxer, a no-name boxer and I heard he did well.
      “That’s what it’s going to take to get to contender status, to get to champ status, to get to a title fight.

      “It’s going to take fighting someone that nobody knows about, not making any money from it.
      “Just building your resume and then just fighting for millions one day.”
      Nico – whose last fight was documented in an OnlyFans series called Rise & Grind – has been linked with a crossover-style spectacle bout against Paul in the past.
      But he has no interest in stepping into that realm – such is the admiration he has for his legendary grandfather.
      Nico said: “I have so much respect for this legacy, it’s bigger than me. I can’t be selfish with it because a lot of people care for it. 
      “Just going to Africa and seeing so many people chant, “Ali” just for the love and respect they have for my grandfather was crazy. 
      “So, this legacy is bigger than me. I can’t be greedy and be like, ‘I’m going to do a money-grab and start fighting YouTubers.’ 
      “That’s insane, I didn’t get into boxing for the money. I think the money will come in time and I love what I’m doing right now, taking the long road.

      MANNY PACQUIAO appears to have announced he will rematch Floyd Mayweather – almost a decade on from their record-breaking bout. Mayweather ended years of speculation in 2015 when he convincingly bettered Pacquiao on points.

      The bout proved the most lucrative of all time with £500MILLION made and a record 4.6m pay-per-views sold in America.
      Pacquiao has campaigned for a rematch ever since the devastating loss, citing a shoulder injury for the reason behind defeat.
      And now he could finally get his wish after he looked to let slip that a rematch will take place in Japan next year.
      He said in Saitama: “I hope to see you here in Japan again with a big fight against…”

      Pacquiao paused before the president of Japanese MMA promotion RIZIN Nobuyuki Sakakibara said: “Floyd Mayweather.”
      PacMan then added: “Floyd Mayweather, yeah. I thought that you didn’t want me to say that. But I am excited about that.”
      Mayweather boxed twice more after his win over Pacquiao.
      He beat Andre Berto and briefly retired for two years before he returned to face UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

      Mayweather, now 46, beat McGregor, 35, in ten rounds and has not boxed professionally since.
      But he has fought in exhibition bouts against names from the MMA, martial arts, YouTube and crossover boxing scene.
      His last was in June against notorious mob boss John Gotti’s grandson.
      But John Gotti III – a professional MMA fighter and boxer – was disqualified in round six with a rematch now set for February.
      Pacquiao, 45, meanwhile retired in 2021 following defeat to Yordenis Ugas, 37, on points.
      Although after a failed presidential campaign in the Philippines, the eight-division champion began to tease a boxing return.
      He did have an exhibition against Korean martial arts influencer DK Yoo last December.
      Pacquaio is also set to return in a similar bout against Muay Thai icon Buakaw Banchamek on April 20.
      He was due to fight on a RIZIN card last year but talks broke down.
      Mayweather has twice featured for the MMA promotion before, beating Tenshin Nasukawa and Mikuru Asakura.
      RIZIN have stated their intentions in the past to host a rematch between Mayweather and Pacquiao.

      The Gypsy King escaped with a controversial split-decision win but his title unification with Oleksandr Usyk was delayed from December to February 17.
      But Todd DuBoef of Top Rank – who promote Fury – revealed a rematch with 37-year-old Ngannou remains possible.
      DuBoef told Sky Sports: “That’s an earned ability to get the rematch. He earned that.
      “His performance dictated that, ‘Woah, he has a chance. We never thought he had a chance’ and in that situation I think absolutely.

      “I think Tyson is regretful. He blamed himself. He thought he had an off night.
      “He said: ‘I took it lightly. It was all on me.’ Didn’t point fingers, which was good.
      “Ngannou outperformed anybody’s expectation and as a result of that you have all the components to say, hey, I want to see this again and that creates and warrants a rematch.”
      Fury, 35, and Usyk, 36, are set to contest for all four world titles – a first in heavyweight history.

      And the rivalry could extend over two bouts with the deal believed to include a rematch clause.
      DuBoef said: “I’m not a big rematch fan. I just think that it kind of takes the prize out of the prizefight.
      “It [the use of rematch clauses] is a new phenomenon that’s come in the last probably decade and a half.
      “So I’m not a big rematch fan but you have to understand that there are rematch clauses in fights and it’s more of the norm today.”

      He would later link up with Derrick James but the American was not available for his most recent win over Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia.
      Instead, Davison led the charge for the first time in Joshua’s career and oversaw the fifth round domination over Wallin.
      And the young coach – who shot to fame working with Tyson Fury – believes he can help AJ finally overcome the undefeated Usyk.
      Davison told Boxing News: “Being selfish, I’d really like to put that Usyk fight right for him.

      “I don’t know if that’s even doable. But that’s something that I would love to help him do.
      “That’s something I said to him first when came down to the gym, that I’m really confident that we’d be able to help him put that right.”
      Joshua had beaten Jermaine Franklin on points and stopped Robert Helenius under the guidance of James.
      But the Texan was in camp with Ryan Garcia in Dallas by the time AJ was announced on seven weeks notice to fight Wallin.

      So he decided to remain in the UK for his camp and switched camps to Davison’s gym in Harlow.
      Joshua’s next step remains uncertain after Deontay Wilder blew their super-fight worth £100million by losing to Joseph Parker.
      And even Davison is unable to say for certain whether he will continue working with AJ going forward.
      He said: “I don’t know. I can’t comment on that. It’s a pleasure to work with but we’ll see.”
