AJ currently stands as the WBC’s No1 ranked challenger meaning if he is victorious, he could be mandated to face Fury.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Gambling.com: “He has had a sensational career and if he beats Francis Ngannou, then he is number one in the WBC while Francis Ngannou is number 10 so the winner will certainly be positioned for great things in the immediate future.”
Ngannou put his MMA career on hold last year to fight Fury on his boxing debut.
And he amazingly scored a knockdown only to be beaten via controversial split-decision.

Fury, 35, now faces Oleksandr Usyk, 36, on February 17 in Saudi for the undisputed heavyweight crown.
Meanwhile Joshua, 34, takes on Ngannou, 37, just three weeks later.
Winners of the two super-fights could meet but as it stands, Fury and Usyk are already contracted to a rematch.
But WBC boss Sulaiman would consider altering plans if promoters requested.

He said: “The WBC already sanctioned Fury v Usyk and the rematch.
“We received the request and have already accepted a rematch if the promoters put it together so that’s where the WBC stands.

But Fury has insisted despite the historic and monumental occasion, he will put no more than a month’s worth of training in for it.
In a leaked face to face with Usyk for TNT Sports, he said: “I train four or five weeks for these fights.
“Please, like I trained 12 weeks for Wilder and everybody else! Four or five weeks, how much training does a man need?
“Three or four weeks of sparring and one week of resting, done. We’ve been boxing for all of our lives since young boys, how much training do we need?

“I’m sure we aren’t going to forgot how to box and it’s not a fitness competition is it, so I don’t think you need anymore than five weeks.”
When asked to respond, Usyk, 36, replied: “I can keep on boxing non-stop for five weeks.”
Fury, 35, has since flown out to Saudi to prepare for his training camp.
He briefly had ex-IBF cruiserweight world champ Jai Opetaia, 28, in camp with him but the sparring only last five rounds.

He said: “I’ll bring in some southpaw left-handed fighters for sparring obviously, just the same stuff as usual.
“What can you do for a fighter? Can’t do much for me or him. It’s a boxing match, if he’s better than me he will beat me.

And with a UFC 300 headliner yet to be announced for April 13, fans were hoping it would mark McGregor’s comeback.
Now, the former two-weight champion has teased the news supporters around the world have all been waiting for.

Tyson Fury ready to tell head trainer to ‘sod you’ and ignore instructions for mouthwatering Usyk fight, says dad John

JOHN FURY reckons his son Tyson can beat Oleksandr Usyk with his own off-the-cuff tactics. The Gypsy King takes on Usyk in their undisputed bout next month.

Fury Snr is convinced that Tyson has what it takes to beat the Ukrainian heavyweight without the help of his trainer SugarHill Steward.
The 59-year-old has been critical of Fury’s long-term coach after the Brit’s disappointing performance against Francis Ngannou last year and labelled Steward’s instructions as “pathetic”.
And now he has claimed that Tyson will tell Steward to “sod off” if his tactics aren’t working ahead of his fight with Usyk.
Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “The best team and the best man will win on the night.

“Can I compare SugarHill and with what I’m seeing with the rest of the team, with Usyk? From the last showing, definitely not.
“Everyone is entitled to the benefit of the doubt, but if they get it wrong, it’s a bad place to be wrong, the Heavyweight undisputed Championship of the World. It’s a bad place for an error.
“But Tyson’s that good, his balls are that big, and he’ll just say, ‘sod you’, just get me a drink and let me do my own thing.
“Like he did in the last three rounds with Ngannou. The instructions he was getting last time were pathetic.”

John Fury didn’t stop there either as he called on Steward’s team to improve on their coaching from Fury’s last bout.
He explained: “They’ve got to give it a 100 per cent improvement. Anything less, well, they’ve dropped the ball, haven’t they?
“Whether they can or whether they can’t, I don’t know. What I heard last time, it was all about this 12-week camp… all they need to do is start impressing me.”
John Fury has previously called on Tyson to sack SugarHill while likening him to “Judas”.
The countdown to Fury’s fight is well and truly on as boxing fans anticipate an all-timer between the two heavyweight titans.

Meet Chev Clarke, the undefeated cruiserweight on the brink of winning British title and potential new star of UK boxing

CHEV CLARKE is on a mission to become a household name this year – which he hopes to end with a British title in his possession. The 2020 Olympian has blown through all cruiserweight comers since turning pro in February 2022, racking up seven wins on the bounce.

Three of those victories came in what most would have deemed to have been an active and impressive seven-month spell month last year.
But not Jamaican-born Brit Clarke, who told SunSport: “I would’ve liked to have had a few more fights, if I’m being honest. Especially last year.
“A lot of people would gas it up a bit more, but it’s been okay. I’ve won and for now the boxing people like me. So long may continue.”
He added: “I’ve levelled up each time I’ve fought. And I’d love to fight a bit more frequently.

“A lot of people would say it’s frequent, but when you know what you can do and you know what you signed up for [it’s a bit frustrating].”
Clarke’s ambitions for 2024 are crystal clear: become a recognised name in as many outings as possible and get his hands on the British cruiserweight title.
“I’ve been the mandatory [challenger] for eight months before Issac got the belt,” Clarke lamented. “So to be fighting for another mandatory is a bit mad considering I’m already mandatory.
“But I’m not the one who pulls those cards. Also, people need to put more respect on the fact and realise I was mandatory for the British [title] after six fights.

“Nobody wants to talk about it or nobody wants to push it. But put some more respect on it.
“Out of all the Olympians, who is doing what I’m doing? Other than Galal Yafai, who is doing what Chev is doing? There’s no one.”
Clarke insists it will be his fists, not his mouth, that will do the talking as he chips away for more recognition.
“I feel like there should be a buzz [about me], he said. “But like I said, other than Galal, I’ve made the most progress in terms of being a professional.”
He added: “I’m just gonna work hard, turn up and execute.”
One can forgive Clarke for having the British title – which is adorned around the waist of Issac Chamberlain – on his mind ahead of his ring return tomorrow night as he was mandated to fight for the belt last June.
Cross-promotional issues have seemingly delayed his bid to get his hands on the prestigious belt, which has resulted in the booking of a Belfast bust-up with Tommy McCarthy on Saturday night.
On paper, former EBU cruiserweight champion McCarthy will present Clarke with one of the tougher challenges of his professional career.
Some have even gone to describe the fight as a potential “banana skin”, a notion which amused Clarke.
He said: “Every fight is a banana skin. It is, isn’t it? Every fight is a banana skin. People are talking like you come into these fights and the opposition ain’t got no chance.

“We’re big guys, all it takes is one punch. From middleweight or super-middleweight upwards, all it takes is one punch.
“So to say this is, ‘Oh, this banana skin,’ I that’s like basic boxing talk. You don’t really know what you what you’re saying. Every fight is a banana skin.”
He added: “It is [a step up] in terms of what he’s done and attempted to do but that doesn’t mean nothing to me.
“When we fight, what I’ve done, what he’s done is irrelevant to me because it’s a new fight, it’s a new day and I will win on the 27th.”
Clarke is brimming with confidence ahead of his first outing of the year but is refusing to make a flat-out prediction for the fight.
He said: “You can plan all you want and you can say, ‘I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that’.
“But when a man is in front of you and you have to think on your feet, that’s when you really see a person.
“You can talk all you want. Outside the ring, you can talk all you want.
“But it’s when you’re in there is when you find out who you really are and if you’re really about it. So, we’ll see how it goes.”
With some of the biggest names in British boxing – Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury included – approaching the twilight of their careers, fans are turning their attention to the next crop of potential stars.
Clarke has all the makings of one with the looks, style, stopping power and even the support of the vegan community.
But he knows all the accolades that come with fulfilling his dreams of becoming a champion won’t come unless he ticks off his short-term goals one by one.

“I’d like to definitely have four fights this year – by the end of December,” he said. “And get a bit more experience with the rounds.

His big brother and fellow fighter Sean has even arranged a coach of 52 to drive up the A12 and roll with the in-form Stones.
But 26-year-old Noakes – whose 12 consecutive knockout wins earned him the nickname derived from Kazakh KO king Gennady – has got to try on wedding suits instead as he’s best man for a so-called pal in June.
“I am gutted to be fair,” the pocket puncher said. “There has been a real buzz around the town, shops and pubs are busier and lifted by it.
“It sounds like there are dozens of coaches heading up there, die hard fans and just local people who fancy the day out.

They’re both throwback fighters who prefer to let their hands do the talking.
But Portsmouth 25-year-old Chambo’s next fight being booked for March 8 in Saudi Arabia has whispers rife that the showdown will land in the kingdom this summer.
    “Let’s hope so,” Noakes laughed.
“The fight between us has been suggested and speculated on for so long now, but we are still two fights away, he has to win his and I have to win mine.
“I went to Saudi Arabia for the Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou fight and I will be back out there just after mine for Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
“It’s a long way away from Maidstone and Portsmouth but it’s where all the big fights are headed and it would be great to be a part of it.”

I’m a 6ft 9in former basketball star but I quit the sport… now I’m a boxer who could secretly help dethrone Tyson Fury

SIX years ago Darren Sealy walked away from professional basketball to pursue boxing – now he is involved in the world’s biggest fights. The 6ft 9in heavyweight shot hoops in Spain and Lithuania before returning to the UK to play for London-based sides.
Sealy is now a professional heavyweight boxerCredit: Instagram @darrensealy
But after picking up personal training as a side hustle due to a lack of funding on the court, Sealy soon began coaching full time.
That is when he was introduced to boxing, and given the chance to put his towering frame to use in a whole different way.
Sealy told SunSport: “I was always in a team sport, but I knew I’d love to give it a go one day.
“I would always train, I always knew what I had to do, just with the basics, but I never took it seriously until I was in my mid to late 20s.”
    READ MORE IN BOXING
Sealy had 14 fights before turning pro, five in the white collar circuit and eight as an amateur.
He was then granted a professional licence from the British Boxing Board of Control in August of 2022.
But Sealy’s life would change forever when a year later heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury signed to fight MMA star Francis Ngannou.
Realising a gap in the market for 6ft 9in sparring partners to replicate Fury’s size, Sealy reached out to Ngannou’s camp.

And following talks in London after a press conference, Sealy was invited to spar the ex-UFC champ.
After a successful rehearsal, he would later travel with Ngannou for two weeks of sparring in Saudi Arabia.
He revealed: “I was in contact with Dewey Cooper, his head coach and obviously he had his fight with Fury. I’m relatively the same height, same build. It just made sense really.
“The sparring partners they were looking for needed to be the same height and same build and, speaking to Dewey, I went out to Saudi and finished up camp with them.”
Ngannou, 37, almost caused the mother of all upsets when he floored Fury, 35, only to lose a controversial decision.
But the performance did not surprise anyone in the Cameroonian’s camp, including Sealy.
He said: “I wasn’t shocked by the performance whatsoever because I saw the work rate that they were putting in.
“I saw his performances in the sparring and saw how much he was putting in, which was great.
Francis Ngannou brought Sealy into his campCredit: instagram @darrensealy
Ngannou finished up his sparring with Sealy in SaudiCredit: Instagram @darrensealy
“I wasn’t shocked on the night as well because the man’s power cannot be uncredited.
“You don’t want to be hit clean by him, and when Fury was we saw what happened.”
Fury’s split-decision meant his undisputed title decider with Oleksandr Usyk remained intact, although postponed from December to February 17.
One of Ngannou’s sparring partners was also recruited by Usyk, 36, who then recommended Sealy to the Ukrainian.
Before long, Sealy was back in camp tasked with the job of mimicking the Gypsy King.
He said: “It’s all about connections, building connections and relationships and being confident to put yourself out there and put a good performance on.
“Putting your best foot forward and putting the best Darren on like I did in Saudi it enabled me to come into camp with Usyk because he’s fighting the same opponent.”
Usyk’s southpaw skills and eccentric personality remains somewhat of an enigma in boxing – but Sealy revealed he is as down to earth as they come.
Sealy is now in camp with Oleksandr UsykCredit: instagram
He said: “If someone walked in the room that didn’t know boxing you’d almost have to tell them, ‘That’s the heavyweight champ.’
“Because he doesn’t carry himself with any type of, ‘Hey, look at me.’ Or, ‘You can’t come near me.’ He’s a very, very relaxed person, has time for everybody.
“You can always ask for a little bit of advice from him, English might be a different language to him but he still respects you and wants to listen to you.
“For someone of his credibility, his accolades and achievements, I think he’s one of the nicest people in boxing that I’ve ever met.”
Fury and Usyk will meet in what is the heavyweight division’s first ever four-belt unification bout.
So the historic occasion is not lost on Sealy, who said: “I reflect on it when I’m not sparring, when I’m having my own personal time.
“I think it’s important to reflect and live in the moment because if I’m thinking too far ahead or thinking what’s next then I’m not soaking up the atmosphere, not relishing the opportunity.
“I know there’s not too many people that are my height and have the privilege to be a part of these camps.
“So by all means I am living up to the opportunity but I am living up to the expectation. It’s been two amazing experiences, two amazing camps.”

The victor of their Riyadh rumble will be crowned the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era and the first in over 25 years.
Fury and Usyk, 35 and 37 respectively, have had three fiery face-offs in the last 13 months – the most recent of which took place in London.
And the eagerly-anticipated sitdown face-off they took part in after their last presser last November has prematurely made its way online.
The pair took part in a lengthy chat with TNT Sports’ boxing expert Steve Bunce, where they fielded questions on their long-overdue unification clash.

Tensions, understandably, were high between the pair – who have been on a collision course for the best part of two years.
And footage circulating online shows Fury attempt to land a verbal jab during their sitdown by mocking Usyk for wearing an earring.
The WBC heavyweight king said: “I know he can’t beat me, I know he can’t.
“A man who wears an earring can never beat Tyson Fury, ever.

“Not a chance, no-one who wears earrings can beat him.”
Usyk was cool as a cucumber as Fury took aim at his donning of an earring, which is a to homage to his warrior heritage.
He said: “I can explain about the earrings. It’s Ukrainian warrior, Cossack.
“They were the people who defended my country from our enemies for many years.
“This is just the proof of my Cossack lineage – they never lost to anybody.
“There is no beauty or fashion in this.”
Fury was respectful of the fact that Usyk’s earring was an ode to Ukraine’s ancient Cossack warriors.
But he was adamant it makes the former undisputed cruiserweight champ a lesser man in his eyes.
He said: “Listen in Ukraine it means he’s a good fighting man, for him.
“But where I’m from it means he’s a p***y with an earring in.”

He said: “It’s going to be one of the fights for the ages.
“I believe we are both destined to be here and to be in this big fight in Saudi Arabia.
“And there’s only one winner, and I am destined to become the undisputed champion.
