Eddie Hearn blasts world champion for leaking negotiation emails as £7.8million offer for big fight is revealed

EDDIE HEARN has hit out at Gervonta Davis for leaking negotiation emails over a potential fight with Conor Benn. The Matchroom Boxing chief tried to pit the WBA (regular) lightweight champion against the Brit after their back-and-forth on Twitter earlier this month.

Negotiations, however, ended last week – prompting Davis to share an email he received from Hearn on social media.
A frustrated Hearn told Boxing Social: “I don’t know why I waste my time with this guy, [he’s] like a baby.
“If you’re not willing to sit down and have a sensible business discussion, like, he doesn’t even know the details of the offer.”
Hearn, 44, told SunSport earlier this month that he expected his opening offer to be knocked back by Davis.

But he’s adamant it’s much more than he’ll make for his proposed domestic dust-up with Frank Martin.
“He’s going to make somewhere between 15 and 25million [dollars] to fight Conor Benn, pending how it does on pay-per-view,” Hearn said.
“I don’t know what he’s getting for Frank Martin.
“I hope he’s getting 20 million [dollars] because that’s a tough fight, but we’ll see.

“We made him an eight-figure offer with plenty of upside.”
Hearn believes Davis’ team are to blame for the rejecting of the offer but bears no ill will towards the Baltimore bruiser.
Watch Gervonta Davis demolish punch machine and beat scores set by Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder
He said of Davis: “He doesn’t even want to discuss the upside because he just gets ill advice.
“But, anyway, I wish him all the best. Great fighter and good luck against Frank Martin.”
Davis hasn’t fought since his seventh-round stoppage of Ryan Garcia last April.
Benn, meanwhile, was last in action early this month against Peter Dobson – whom he comfortably outpointed. More

Dubois landed a shot just below the belt line which caused Usyk to fall to the floor in agony.
It was deemed an accidental but illegal low blow, dividing opinions across the sport.
Dubois argued it was a legal shot and that he was robbed of the heavyweight world title.
Meanwhile Usyk’s team were left furious and none more so than his wife Yekaterina.

Promoter Alex Krassyuk told Betway: “Let me tell you, Usyk’s wife was shouting at Oleksandr after that to tell him, ‘beat the s*** out of him’.
“Oleksandr only took four minutes and why did he not take five minutes?
“He didn’t because he could see that his opponent was getting rest too. He recovered, came back, and knocked the other guy out.”
Dubois and his team appealed the result with the WBA but lost their case.

But along with Frenchman John Mbumba, their roles became even more important last year when Ngannou put on hold his MMA career to cross over to boxing.
But Cooper admits neither him or Mbumba can take credit for his devastating power.
Instead, he puts it down to Ngannou’s years spent working in sand mines in Cameroon for £1.50 a day from the age of ten.
Cooper told SunSport: “As far as his punching power, no that was something that he naturally had.
“He dug sand mines as a kid all the way up to his early 20s.

KSI claims Wayne Rooney sent him private message at 4am as Man Utd legend pitches stadium blockbuster fight

But according to KSI himself, it was actually Rooney who made the first move over a year earlier.
KSI said on the Sidemen podcast: “Alright, I’ve got it, 5th of December, 2022 at 3.50am.
“(Rooney text), ‘Hi mate, what you think on me and you having a boxing fight. I think we could generate a lot of money. You up for it.’
“No question mark, just full stop. He’s not asking! (The text continues), ‘We could sell out stadium with right support and both make good money.'”

It is not the first time KSI has claimed Rooney reached out to him personally.
He said in a December 2022 press conference: “It’s funny – I hope he doesn’t get annoyed that I said this – but Wayne Rooney hit me up being like, ‘Oh, we should fight.’
“And I said no. I just don’t want to do that. If Wayne Rooney is down, of course I think it would be good to have him in this space.”
Rooney, infamously knocked out in a boozy kitchen spar-gone-wrong by Phil Bardsley in 2015, is an avid boxing fan.

KSI, 30, has headlined four events but lost his last bout to Tommy Fury, 24, via controversial decision to lose for the first time in seven outings.
Rooney, 38, finally broke his silence on the rumoured boxing offer but insisted he is focused on his managerial career.
He said on The Overlap podcast: “Obviously Misifts have been in, and that’s been all over the news or whatever, but listen, I want to focus on getting back into management. That’s my focus.
“I’ve seen all [the headlines] over the last couple of days, but my main focus is getting back into football.”
Despite Rooney’s revelation, KSI has left the door open to welcoming the ex-England captain to Misfits.
He said: “It would be great to just see him fight someone. And if he annihilates that person, then yeah fine, let’s f***ing go.”

I sparred Francis Ngannou years before Tyson Fury fight… I remember staying out of the way of his dangerous power

WHEN Francis Ngannou knocked Tyson Fury down and took him to a split-decision the boxing world watched in shock – but not Joe Joyce. That is because before Joyce beat Daniel Dubois in 2020, he sparred then-UFC contender Ngannou in Las Vegas.

What Joyce did not know is that three years later, Ngannou would put his MMA career on hold to make a sensational switch to boxing.
And on his debut bout, he dropped Fury in round three only to lose a controversial decision.
Joyce insisted Ngannou proved he could compete at the highest level of boxing, something he found out first hand all those years ago.
He told SunSport: “I thought he boxed a great fight there, even knocked him down.

“I thought it was very close. It just shows he can mix it at the top level.
“And from sparring him, I just remember staying out of the way of those power shots, the ones coming to the body and head.
“But I was a little bit more cute with my boxing, because I only train for boxing whereas MMA guys have to train in three disciplines.

Ngannou won the UFC title two years after sparring Joyce but in 2023 he walked out on them to pursue boxing.

Ngannou, 37, now faces Anthony Joshua, 34, on March 8 in Saudi Arabia in just his second boxing bout.
Meanwhile Joyce, 38, is coming off his second consecutive defeat to China’s Zhilei Zhang, 40.
The 2016 Olympic silver medallist now returns on March 16 against Kash Ali, 32, in Birmingham after refusing to retireme.
Joyce is back with the freedom of not having to protect his unbeaten record as he eyes bigger bouts in the future.
He said: “Right now, there’s so many different characters at the top of the heavyweight division where you’d like to see the match-ups.
“You wanna see me fight everyone really, everyone should fight everyone and especially now I’ve taken a loss, I don’t need to look after that coveted 0 and be scared to take fights.
