Tyson Fury reveals argument with ‘bully’ Anthony Joshua over the phone and says ‘it didn’t fare too well for AJ’

TYSON FURY claims that he encountered the ‘true Anthony Joshua’ during a heated phone call with his rival, labelling the two-time world heavyweight champion a ‘bully’. Fury, 33, told The Lowdown that he once received an angry phone call from Joshua telling him what he was going to do to him when the pair eventually meet in the ring.

Fury said: “He phoned me up one day in a mood to say he was gonna do this and do that to me. It didn’t fare too well for him, let’s say that… I just told him the truth. The truth always hurts.”
The pair had a seemingly amicable relationship until quite recently, having sparred together as youngsters, talked on FaceTime and even bumped into each other on holiday in Marbella.
Fury even said in an interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap that he respects AJ and reckons his biggest rival would ‘love him’ if they got to know each other.
He also went on to say: “I respect him not only because of a boxing side of things, I respect him because he’s come from a very rough council estate.
“He was a drug dealer and all that sort of stuff in his early life – and he’s changed it all around to become a champion.”
Despite this, when speaking on The Lowdown about their bust up, Fury elaborated: “Just out of the blue. He decided to give me a call, a telling off call.

“I don’t think he liked what he heard on the end of it. There’s no telling me off anyway.

The two have often come to blows on social media, with Joshua claiming Fury would never be able to sell out Wembley Stadium without him.
The 32-year-old said: “If Fury could have sold out 90,000-capacity stadiums, then he would have done. But he never has had the ability to attract those large numbers, not until he fights me.”
Fury and AJ had previously agreed to go head to head in an undisputed world heavyweight title fight, only for the fight collapse as Fury was ordered by an arbitration judge to face Deontay Wilder first.
The fight was reportedly due to take place on 14th August in Saudi Arabia, but Fury took on Deontay Wilder in the third chapter of their trilogy fight last year in Nevada, USA.
Meanwhile, Joshua faced off against Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and lost his titles.
Joshua called Fury out on social media after their fight collapsed, claiming that the WBC champion never really intended to fight him in the first place.
He said: “Tyson Fury the world now sees you for the fraud you are. You’ve let boxing down! You lied to the fans and led them on. Used my name for clout not a fight.”

He was rushed away to hospital after being taken out of the stadium on a stretcher as Wood’s celebrations were overshadowed.
But blood-spattered Conlan videoed himself in the early hours and posted the clip online to let fans know he was doing okay – and congratulate his opponent.
The stitched-up 30-year-old said: “I’m all good just getting checked up in the hospital.
“The CT scan was all clear.
“Congrats to Leigh Wood, congrats to his team, that was the best shot of the night he got me with at the end.
“But it is what it is, I’ll be back.”
He followed it up on Twitter with a series of tweets – and is already eyeing a rematch.
Conlan added: “I’m all good folks, cheers for the messages.

But he was in no mood to celebrate with Mick’s condition unknown.
Immediately after the win, a tearful Wood said: “I just hope Michael is all right. I can’t celebrate until I know he is.
“He is so tough and it was a bad knockout so I just want to see he is all right.
“I’m in an emotional state and there have been some tears.
“I heard he is up and talking but I would like to see him.”
‘PRAYING FOR CONLAN’
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn labelled Wood’s win ‘one of the greatest comebacks’ – but reiterated ‘we’re all praying for Michael’.
Hearn said: “It looked a masterclass from Michael and coming into the 12th I could not see a way Leigh could turn the fight around.
“Michael was two ahead going into the last round – Leigh had to knock him out in the 12th and he did.
“I would love to celebrate but all our thoughts are with Michael.”
Ryan Garcia tweeted: “That was one of the greatest fights I have ever seen if you didn’t see it don’t watch anything it was amazing hope Conlan is okay.”

LEIGH WOOD scored one of the most incredible comeback KOs imaginable by smashing Mick Conlan out of the ring when he seemed just seconds from defeat.The Nottingham star, 33, seemed about to lose his WBA featherweight strap on the scorecards – in front of his home arena crowd – after being dropped sickeningly in the opening round.

But – in round 12 with just a few seconds left on the clock – he unleashed a sensational final volley that drove Conlan out of the ring leaving him needing medical attention.
Celebrations were muted after the bell as Conlan was carried out on a stretcher.
It was later reported that the Irishman, 31, was thankfully awake and responding backstage before being taken to a local hospital.

“I can’t celebrate until I know he’s alright. My thoughts are with him at the minute.”
At the start of the fight, Wood leaped over the top rope and into the action with the support of his huge home crowd.
And he bounced straight onto the front foot, as the aggressor, with Conlan keen to counterpunch.
A couple of whipped Wood right hooks sounded punishing but Conlan seemed to catch them on his arms and gloves.
Then just as the bell rang Conlan detonated a life-changing left hand from the southpaw stance that floored Wood violently.
Incredibly the defending champ beat the count and walked back to his stool but Conlan seemed seconds away from victory.
Wood was in a horrible state when the second started, barely standing up but bravely swinging on instinct.

Conlan grazed him with another left hook and his legs turned to jelly. But suddenly a gaping cut was oozing over Conlan’s left eye that needed attention at every interval and threatened to ooze into his eye.
It was a miracle Wood was still standing at the end of the second and even more stunning that he ended the session hurling big shots of his own that pinned Conlan brielfly onto the ropes.
Wood’s nose was a bloody mess by the time the third started and he was dabbing and clearing to try to save his breathing.
The fifth was a slugfest that spilled into a bloodbath as dozens of punches and head bumps left a seeping wound in the Englishman’s eyebrow.
Round six was undestandably scrappy as the fighters tried to grab their breath and recover from the blood-soaked first minutes of non-stop action.
Wood regained his legs by the half-way point and he was still throwing heavy shots at Conlan’s face and ribs.
The seventh was spectacular again as both brave gladiators gave their all. Wood looked for concussive blows while Conlan bobbed and weaved and slashed away at angles. It was magnificent boxing.
Wood had success in round eight as Conlan’s engine started to flag under the constant pressure.

But then he used that pressure against him by walking him on to a peach that had the green army roaring.
It was breathless brilliant stuff, occasionally a boxing match but more often an all-out battle with two men desperate not to disappoint their audience.
Wood started round nine with his right hand too low so Conlan cracked him with two more left hands, then tagged him a handful of times with rasping jabs.
The pair spent the whole tenth round in the pocket, joined at the forehead slashing away at each other’s body.
It seemed Wood was landing the bigger shots but some of Conlan’s defending was masterful as he slipped and slid out of range by milimetres.
Round 11 was sensational and ended in controversy, Conlan hit the deck but insisted it was a slip. But referee Steve Gray gave a count Team Conlan was furious about.

And then in something out of Rocky, Wood unloaded and knocked Conlan backwards out of the ring.
The Irishman vanished between the ropes and collapsed backwards into the VIP seats.
The crowd went wild but Wood urged the crowd to contain themselves while medics could reach the stricken ace.
Conlan, who looked exhausted in the final round, was taken off the arena floor on a stretcher.
He was dealt with by paramedics but was said to be responsive and awake backstage before being taken to hospital. More

LEIGH WOOD is looking to make a name for himself as he faces Michael Conlan in his hometown of Nottingham. Wood impressively stopped Chinese fighter Can Xu in the 12th round of their clash last summer to secure the WBC ‘Regular’ featherweight title at Fight Camp.
And the 33-year-old was immediately ordered to defend his title against Ireland’s Conlan, who is signed by American promoters Top Rank.
Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom won the purse bids for the fight, which was originally touted to take place in both Belfast and New York.
But Wood will have the hometown advantage in Nottingham, with 9,000 fans expected to attend the fight.
The winner could be elevated to the ‘Super’ world champion at 126lbs, with current champ Leo Santa Cruz not likely to return to defend his belt.

Agyarko comes close to ending the fight with a flurry of powerful right hands.
But the Mexican challenger somehow stays up right and lives to fight another round.
His left eye has taken damage however and he is receiving treatment – it doesn’t look good for Rubio.

The Belfast ace throws everything into a couple of long-range uppercuts but misses wildly.
Rubio is definitely concerned about his potential power.
There isn’t punch coming back from the Mexican so Agyarko is happy walking him down and looking for a perfect shot to end things.

Agyarko lands a cuffing left hook when Rubio dares throw a jab.
Then a straight right flies right down the Mexican’s pipe.
Rubio keeps hurling back, though, then two brutal right hands crunch into Rubio and the bell saves him on the ropes.

Rubio is a Mexican southpaw with height but his ribs will soon be tested by Agyarko’s body shots.
Agyarko boxes with his lead left hand hangling low by his waist but his reflexes are rapid as he lands with a counter right.

TWO of the world’s biggest strongmen could soon share the ring as The Iranian Hulk has been called out by his rival the Brazilian counterpart. The 390lb six feet two inches tall ‘Iranian Hulk,’ real named Sajad Gharibi, is currently preparing for a bout at London’s O2 Arena against Martyn Ford on April 30.

But he’s been called out by a fellow man-mountain who has dubbed himself
The Brazilian Hulk is considerably smaller than his Iranian namesake, coming in at 5ft 8 and 230lbs.
Back in 2019, Romario do Santos Alves, aka The Brazilian Hulk called out The Iranian Hulk saying: “I will go up to 120 kilograms (18.9 stone) and I send a message to you, the Iranian Hulk who is challenging me.
“I will go up to 120 kilograms and you will go down to 120. I will tear off your head.”
The Iranian Hulk recently responded on social media, saying: “Be brave and invite me to fight instead of hiding behind your sponsors.
“I am ready to fight you, show me what you’ve got to say in the ring.”
Before the Iranian Hulk can think about facing his Brazilian rival, he must first get past man-mountain Ford.
The pair clashed in a heated face-off in Dubai last month, with Ford pushing his opponent to the ground.
But Gharibi is confident of victory and has vowed to rip Ford’s ‘head off’.
He told SunSport: “That actor, or rather ‘joke’, disrespected me for the first time in 2018 on an Instagram Live.
“He needs to realise this fight is not a Hollywood production. There is no director. He will see and feel my deadly hook and deadly punch.

Floyd Mayweather Jr has been placed considerably higher than his rival Manny Pacquiao in the most recent Ring Magazine rankings by Ring Magazine writer Cliff Rold.Ring Magazine compiled a list of the greatest boxers of the past 100 years placing Mayweather Jr. three spots above Pacquiao at number six with Manny sitting just inside the top ten at number nine.

Mayweather and Pacquiao fought in 2015 in what is still to this day, the most lucrative boxing match in the history of combat sports, creating £470 million in pay-per-view and gate receipts.
Mayweather was able to get the win via a unanimous decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in a bout that was touted as the “Fight Of The Century.”
Speaking on how they set their ranking system, The Ring explained: “Scoring for total points and peak points relied on a base 11-point scale (i.e., a champion and the top 10 contenders).
“A win over the champion of one’s weight class, in a title or non-title fight, was worth 11 points, a No. 1 contender was worth 10, etc.
“Losses worked in reverse.
A loss to the champion was a one-point deduction sliding to 11 for a loss to the No. 10 contender.”
Since Mayweather’s and Pacquiao’s mega-money bout in 2015, both fighters have gone on to retire after incredible careers.
