CANELO ALVAREZ has swapped to a vegan diet in training to fight Dmitry Bivol. The Mexican superstar is set to move up to light-heavyweight to challenge WBA champion Bivol.

But he will not be bulking up by consuming meat as he revealed his nutritional switch ahead of his boxing return.
Canelo told ESPN:  “I’m not very complicated when it comes to food, I adapt a lot, I adapt quickly.
“It’s not something I did all of a sudden, that I left what I ate before, from one day to the next.
“All week I try to eat what is vegan and if one day I eat something else, meat, chicken, whatever, I eat it, there is no problem.

Canelo, 31, in 2018 infamously tested positive for clenbuterol – which is known to boost muscle growth and eliminate excess fats.
The boxing champion blamed the failed test on tainted beef but was still given a six-month suspension.

Canelo did later provide negative results for clenbuterol in tests taken after his positive bust.
The WBC then increased the threshold for the amount of clenbuterol that can be found in a fighter’s system before considering it a failed test.

But his shot at redemption looked to be under threat after Usyk bravely took up arms to defend Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.
AJ contemplated an interim bout in the meantime as Usyk fought a far bigger battle than anything possible in the boxing ring.
But the sensational southpaw then announced his intentions to fight Joshua once more and left his homeland to do so.
Only now has Usyk confirmed his training camp has started, while Joshua has been in the gym since the start of the new year.

GENNADY GOLOVKIN celebrated his 40th birthday by making weight to fight Ryota Murata. The middleweight boxing champion marks his return to the ring in a unification title bout with Murata in Japan.

Golovkin looked ripped and ready as he scaled inside the 11st 6lb middleweight limit on his big day.
The Kazakh legend has not fought since December 2020 when he stopped Pole Kamil Szeremeta, 32, in seven rounds.
He was due to unify his IBF belt with Murata’s WBA version in April until coronavirus restrictions put an abrupt halt to that.
But with their rescheduled date only days away, Golovkin promised it will be worth the wait.
