South African southpaw Van Heerden is, on paper, the toughest opponent of Benn’s burgeoning career.
And promoter Eddie Hearn believes undefeated Destroyer will be off to the races if he gets past the former champ.

“It’s all down to his mindset, his work ethic, the work Tony Simms has done – and obviously the genes as well, they help.

Benn has yet to face a southpaw in his professional career and Hearn believes the experience will do him the world of good.

And Hearn believes a fight with Special K – as well as showdowns with some of the big names at 147lbs – will soon be on the horizon for the 25-year-old.

As part of the WBC’s “Clean boxing programme”, testing took place on March 21, just over a month before the showdown.
And both samples came back as negative for banned substances.
The tests were carried out by VADA, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, on behalf of the WBC.
They were the second round of samples collected from the pair in anticipation of their meeting.
