And he will have had his spirits lifted as his 21-year-old lad survived a few scares to come out on top in his seventh win.
Hatton was gifted a terrible decision win last September, by a weak refereeing call, which turned some fans off of his growing story.
But his crowd-friendly style and dangerous willingness to stand and trade will win them back, with more clashes like this one with Ezequiel Gregores which was scored a 60-54 shutout.
Hatton started razor-sharp, cracking shots into the hard Argentine who had never been stopped despite nine losses.

Hatton was harder to hit in the third and landed a right hand that stiffened the visitor’s legs briefly.
Campbell was more tidy and precise in the fourth but looked like he was starting to tire after 12 minutes of bomb throwing and bouncing.
Gregores was shattered by the fifth but he enjoyed Hatton hitting him and demanded more of a thrashing, after absorbing a combination on his high guard.
Hatton spent too much time and energy looking for a sensational body-shot stoppage but when he relaxed and varied his shots he showed plenty of improvement.

But then CBS lands three right hands that shatter his opponent’s momentum.
Both men land as the round comes to a close, McCarthy looks the most damaged.

Last July Cris Billam-Smith and Tommy McCarthy slugged it out in Eddie Hearn’s Essex garden.
Bournemouth’s CBS nicked it on a split decision and they rerun the cruiserweight clash tight now.

Hatton begins the round with some nice, patient work, landing a few jabs before pinging in the right hand.
He then goes for a left uppercut off the back of a right hand but Gregores covers up.
Much has been made of how hard it’s been for Campbell to follow in the footsteps of his dad Ricky, but tonight’s been another improvement for the 21-year-old.
Gregores tries to land something meaningful in the final 10 seconds but to no avail.

Campbell’s trainer Matthew Hatton asks his nephew to get the snap back into his punches.
“Let’s not get ragged,” he adds.
And Campbell responds in kind, landing a beautiful left to the body.
“Good shot!” Matthew shouts from the corner.
Gregores looks like he’s feeling the pace of the fight so far, he’s not throwing as much as he was before.

More of the same from Hatton, who keeps coming forward and looking for big shots.
Gregores looks like he’s becoming used to Hatton’s power, however, and is probably going to get through these next few rounds.
Hatton lands a nice left to the body, but Gregores comes back with a counter of his own.

Gregores has another fight in two weeks, so he won’t want to get stopped here.
But Hatton is landing some big shots. Young Campbell looks hell-bent on getting that stoppage.
And it would increase his streak to three. Some signs also that Hatton is slightly weary of what’s coming back from the Argentine.

A little careless from Hatton to start the round, he likes to come forward but gets caught on the way out.
Carl Froch notes on commentary that Hatton can’t take those shots once he steps up his level of competition.
But some good body shots follows in the middle minute of the round.
Gregores can land a nice counter if he gets there quick enough, however.

In the following two fights he was filmed LICKING BLOOD from Wilder’s battered body — in the one-sided thrashing he dished out in the 2020 second instalment and when sharing a four-knockdown slugfest with the Bronze Bomber in last year’s decider.
And Fury reckons he feels these Hollywood-worthy moments in the same way awestruck fans do on TV.
He added: “Nothing in the world feels like when you’re about to fight.
“You’re focused, you can feel your heart beating, you feel blood pulsing through your veins.
“It’s like being in a dark room and all of a sudden an HD TV comes on and you have to watch it — boom.
“It’s absolutely fantastic, a surreal experience, and it’s why I continue to go back to the well. After all these fights, I still love this game.”
Fury got a controversial tie in the first Wilder fight and took it with good grace.
But he and Frank Warren were so disgusted by the scoring of Jack Catterall’s “defeat” to Josh Taylor in February that they successfully petitioned to have no British judges at the biggest UK fight in three decades.
It’s a deserved bloody nose for the British Boxing Board of Control, which has repeatedly failed to punish poor judging performances.
And Fury hopes it improves British officiating across the UK — especially for neighbour Phil Edwards, who scored that first Wilder clash a 113-113 draw.
The champ said: “Over the years we’ve seen a lot of dodgy decisions, so we just wanted to be treated fairly.
“We didn’t want to be a victim of one of those lopsided decisions again, we didn’t want any favours, we just wanted fair play.
“It was the British judge who gave it a draw (in the Wilder tie). Fantastic. He only lives down the road from me in Preston, cheers mate!
“We don’t need the judges anyway because I’m going to get him out of there.
“That’s the only way you can guarantee winning a fight, getting the opponent out of there. It’s one of the only sports where you have the ability to take a decision into your own hands.”
Fury has vowed to use his shovel-like hands to bury Whyte’s title hopes but he has offered to take his old sparring partner for a drink after the dance.
He barked: “This is a business and there are no friends in business. So while we’re fighting, we’re not friends. After, we’ll go for a beer no problem.” More

And he was more quick-witted and cutting than Deontay Wilder in the build-up to all three of their iconic clashes, which landed him his WBC heavyweight crown.
So 34-year-old Whyte snubbed a March 2 Wembley press conference and Thursday’s verbal face-off ahead of Saturday’s Wembley showdown.
It left ex-world champ Haye thinking his fellow Londoner had grabbed the upper hand.

TOMMY FURY wants to shut Jake Paul up once and for all by settling their “unfinished business” in a sell-out UK stadium fight. The celebrity boxing rivals were set to put bragging rights and unbeaten records on the line in a December grudge match.
