      Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers’ professional boxing debut CONFIRMED after recovering from broken nose

      AARON CHALMERS has rescheduled his professional boxing debut to June 17 in Liverpool. The Geordie Shore star was set to fight in April but suffered a broken nose, meaning his switch from MMA to boxing faced a delay.

      But Chalmers is now due to enter the ring for the first time at the M&S Bank Arena, which will be televised for free on Channel 5.
      He said: “I feel like my debut has been a long time coming now and what better place to have it than in Liverpool, it’s always a cracking atmosphere there.
      “I can’t wait to put on a show and get my boxing career rolling.”
      Chalmers left the cage with a 5-2 record, having fought four times for US promotion Bellator.

      The 50-0 boxer is said to have bought 157 vehicles from Towbin over the course of his career.
      Among those cars includes a remarkable 29 different Rolls-Royces.
      Pretty Boy has amassed his own fleet of dream motors which is said to be worth £20million.
      It includes the Rolls-Royces worth over a staggering £3million, as well as four Bugatti Veyron supercars that cost £1.7million.
      But what’s unique about ‘Money’ Mayweather’s cars is that they mostly come in two colours – white or black – and are divided between his two mansions in LA and Las Vegas.

      Romero at 26 is unbeaten in 14 fights, winning them all with 12 knockouts and is signed to Floyd Mayweather’s promotional banner.
      That is despite being a late bloomer to boxing, only starting out at 17 after watching the 2012 Olympics.
      But only three years later did Romero start taking the sport seriously, while trying win the love of a girl.
      He wanted to prove to her that he could better their lives and stay disciplined.

      Though in end after four months of trying Romero threw in the towel – but by then he had already grown to love boxing instead.
      He told SunSport: “August 2015, I tried and I tried, but that stopped around December 2015. I just focussed on boxing. 
      “I did nothing but focus on boxing from that point and I ended up getting signed by Mayweather Promotions about a year later.”
      Despite only picking up the gloves ten years ago, in truth boxing has always been part of Romero’s life.

      His dad, Rolando Sr, was a national amateur champion in Cuba and wanted his son to follow in his footsteps.
      Romero Jr though had other ideas and instead preferred to brag rather than box.
      But after talking just a little too much, he was forced to put his money where his mouth is and step foot in the ring for real.
      Romero revealed: “I started boxing at 17, watching the 2012 Olympics. I said they were chumps and I’d knock them all out.
      “My dad said, ‘No, you wouldn’t, you’re a bitch’. I said, ‘Watch me’.
      “I went to the gym, first day I put on the gloves and sparred somebody, I broke his nose. 
      “I went back the next day and broke another kid’s nose, and I was like, ‘I think I might be good at this s***’.

      “I beat the s*** out of a few people, then I got my ass beat. I was just a natural, I’ve always been a puncher. 
      “I mean, you’re either born with it or you’re not. I’ve got the blessing and I was born with tremendous power. 
      “I could just touch somebody and knock them out.” 
      The Romeros have always been fighters, both in and out of the ring.
      Rolando Sr was sent to prison at 27 for trying to flee Cuba and was fed nothing but rice and water for the first month.
      But after finishing his jail sentence, he once again sought to defect and swam across Guantanamo Bay with his friend.
      Sadly, Rolando Sr’s friend drowned and died but Romero’s dad survived and after three weeks flew him to Miami.

      Rolando Sr, now his son’s assistant coach, made it to America at the age of 30 and two years later, his boy was born.
      And despite the remarkable mission, Romero insists he is not inspired by his dad’s story – but instead by the promise he made him.
      He said: “Really, it doesn’t motivate me. That’s his journey.
      “What does motivate me about my father is that honestly, his dream was for me to be a champion and I did that at 12 fights. 
      “Now, I’m going to become a star, that’s what motivates me.
      “I don’t believe in having motivation from outside sources, I feel like it should come from inside. 
      “If you don’t want it for your damn self it doesn’t matter what the f*** anybody else wants.”

      Romero did not have a big amateur background, having only 35 fights with a 25-10 record.
      Instead, he made his mark in the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, treating sparring sessions like brutal world title fights.
      It caught the attention of Mayweather himself, who signed Romero in 2016 – but the boxer was left with a bad reputation.
      He said: “I’ve calmed down a lot, because it started to get expensive for me. No one would spar me, so I had to start paying. 
      “Then I was paying more money to spar then I was making to fight, so I was like, ‘OK, maybe there’s a little problem with that’. 
      “I was like, man from the end of 2015 all the way to August 2018, I was just going in there and my only goal was to beat the f*** out of you, knock you out.”
      Romero in 2020 won the WBA ‘interim’ lightweight title and a year later beat Anthony Yigit, 30, his biggest win to date.

      It set him up with a grudge match against long-time rival Davis, 27, which was set for December.
      But Romero was pulled out after being levelled with sexual assault allegations, which he vehemently denied.
      After an investigation, the unbeaten fighter faced no charges as the allegations could not be substantiated.
      It meant he got a second shot at Davis, who along with one other unnamed foe remains at the top of Romero’s hit-list.
      He said: “He’s the motherf***er I like the least in this sport. Well, there is one other guy I can’t f***ing stand.
      “There’s two people I just want to go up to and bitch slap. But I don’t want to talk about them right now. 
      “But Tank, we have this fight and I’m going to knock him the f*** out and become a star. He has what I want.”

      Golovkin’s tragic past after two brothers died in the army inspires epic career which will now see Canelo trilogy bout

      BREWING underneath boxer Gennady Golovkin’s epic rise is a tragic story that haunts him to this day.The Kazakhstan middleweight, who is intensely private, had to deal with the unexplained death of two his brothers who joined the Russian Army and never came back home.

      Sergey and Vadim Golovkin introduced their younger sibling to the sport that eventually would earn him over £25million, urging him to forget his football dreams and aim for a career in the ring.
      But when the family was notified of their deaths four years apart from each other (in 1990 and 1994), Gennady made it his mission to honour them.
      Since then, the man nicknamed Triple G has fought an nearly 400 times and prides himself on his iron jaw.
      He has also battled Canelo Alvarez in two epic bouts, one that ended in a draw and another a points loss that fans believe he was cheated out of.
      The pair will face-off again in September to decide the winner of their trilogy.
      Humble Gennady now lives with his wife Alina in Santa Monica, California, while training out of a gym in the mountains of Big Bear.
      However, when he turned 22 ‘GGG’ nearly turned his back on boxing because he was sick of the politics that blocked his breakthrough from amateur to professional.
      A TOUGH START
      Born in Karaganda in 1982 to a Russian coal miner father also called Gennady and a Korean mother named Elizabeth, who worked as an assistant in a chemical factory, Gennady had to survive in a state that was newly franchised from the Soviet Union.
      One of four boys (he has a twin, Maxim), living in Kazakhstan was survival of the fittest back then and his brothers Sergey and Vadim knew Gennady needed toughening up.
      When he was in nursery, they would hand-pick fights for their younger bro against older men.

      “My brothers, they were doing that from when I was in kindergarten. Every day, different guys,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
      A career beckoned in the mines, just like his dad, but his brothers had other ideas.
      Seeing that Gennady was skilled at sport, he loved playing football as a kid, they sent him straight to the boxing gym.
      “‘Just try boxing,’ they told me,” he wrote in The Players’ Tribune.
      “‘You need different activities.’ I wasn’t going to say no to them. I just nodded.
      “And when we went, I didn’t like it. I didn’t like boxing. Who wants to get hit in the face?
      “It’s a dangerous sport and I liked playing on my soccer teams. But, it came easy to me. I got it. I understood it. And I was very, very good. Right away. I remember just knowing as soon as I was in the ring, what I needed to do.
      “I remember sparring for the first time. There were a lot of tough people there, but I wasn’t scared. I was tough, too. So, I stayed in the boxing club.”
      TRAGEDY STRUCK
      In 1990 the government informed the Golovkin family that Vadim was killed in action with the Russian military.
      No explanation was offered as to how it happened, and his coffin was buried without a body.

      Then, four years later the same fate awaited Sergey, who also died in mysterious circumstances.
      “Sergey and Vadim, of course, they were like my heroes. You know, like any older brother is,” Gennady revealed.
      “We would watch Mike Tyson fights, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard. Amateur boxers from Russia.”
      HARDLY AMATEUR
      With 40 wins from his first 42 fights, one loss and a draw, Golovkin boasts an impressive professional boxing record.
      But as an amateur, his numbers were off the charts. The fear of being forced to work down the pit saw him win an astonishing 345 fights and lose just 5.
      It is said he has the hardest chin in the boxing game – having reportedly never been floored during his career.
      At the 2004 Olympics he won silver, losing to the Russian Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov on points.
      “When I got back to Kazakhstan, people recognised me. Before, I would get called a “genie,” or “magic man,” or people would say that that I was lucky in my fights even when I beat everybody in Russia or in Asia.
      “It was always that I was a small, skinny guy who was “lucky.”  But, after Athens, I came back and people said, “O.K., you really are special.”

      BUT HE NEARLY QUIT
      By the age of 22, Golovkin had become disenchanted with boxing, annoyed by the red tape that prevented him from turning pro.
      “There was only amateur fighting for me there, and I wanted to go pro. But I couldn’t get a professional contract in my country,” he said.
      “I beat other guys from other countries who were professional. I beat everyone. But I couldn’t get a contract. I couldn’t turn pro. I couldn’t. Not in Kazakhstan.
      “So at 22, I decided I would quit boxing. I was tired of the politics. I had been boxing for so long.”
      However, he was lured back in by K2 Promotions (The Klitschko brothers’ professional boxing promotional company) almost a year later and went into training in Big Bear with Abel Sanchez, the veteran trainer behind Hall of Famer Terry Norris.
      “Abel didn’t know much Russian. And I didn’t know much English,” Golovkin revealed.
      “But we both spoke boxing. And with Abel, right away, it was like with Sergey and Vadim: Whatever he told me to do, I wouldn’t say no. I look up to him.”

      CANELO
      Probably best known to a British audience because of his destruction of Kell Brook, in the US it’s Golovkin’s battles with Canelo Alvarez that are better remembered.
      They first fought at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in front of a sold-out crowd of 22,350 in 2016.
      After 12 rounds, judges scored the fight a split draw – even though pundits believed the victory should’ve gone to the Kazakh.
      In 2018, the pair returned to the ring in what was another closely fought contest.
      Alvarez was deemed the victor, with judges Dave Moretti and Steve Weisfeld both scoring the bout 115–113, while the third judge Glenn Fieldman scored it 114–114.

      Incredibly, of the 18 media outlets that were covering the event ten favoured Golovkin, seven saw it as a draw and one thought Alvarez was the winner.
      “I showed my victory with facts,” he said in the post-fight interview.
      “He was the one who was backing up. I feel satisfied because I gave a great fight. It was a clear victory.”
