      Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury sparring session: From AJ wobbling Gypsy King to mind games, coach recalls famous fight

      ANTHONY JOSHUA got the better of Tyson Fury in their infamous sparring session, his first boxing coach has claimed. The future heavyweight rivals shared three rounds together in 2010 and the story has since become the stuff of legend.

      Very few truly know what happened that day, but one of those who does is Finchley Amateur Boxing trainer Sean Murphy.
      And Murphy has given SunSport an exclusive insight into the sparring session and how he believes AJ came off better.
      He said: “At the time Josh had just won his first, I think, the ABA title. But he was relatively still a novice.
      “In Tyson’s defence he’s thinking I’m just going to move this up-and-coming kid around it will be a walk in the park sort of thing.

      The two would go on the box three rounds in the famed London gym and Murphy gave his account of how it played out.
      He revealed: “When they got in there for the first round, Tyson was just thinking it was going to be easy and light.
      “He’s quite relaxed, and Josh is hitting him with a setup one-two left hook uppercut and sort of wobbled him.
      “So, it was like, ‘Oh, f***ing hell, this is serious now.’ We won the first round.
      “Second round Tyson started to give him a little bit of verbal, sort of getting in his head. Tyson won the second round.
      “So I gave Josh a bollocking, ‘What the f*** are you doing! Calm down, you’re letting him get into your head now. He’s beating you. Go back out and box like you did in the first round.’
      “And he done that the third round and got the better of him and at the end I said, ‘Jump out.’ And Tyson is going, ‘No, no, no! One more round, one more round!’
      “I knew now Tyson is going to turn it on with Josh. I said, ‘Nah, nah, nah, you only asked for three rounds, that’s what you’re getting.'”

      Tyson at the time had offered to put his Rolex on the line to any sparring partner that could floor him.
      According to Murphy, Joshua came close to winning the luxury watch.
      And the coach admitted he would have allowed for more rounds – had Fury been willing to pay for it.
      Murphy said: “So, Josh got out, but Tyson did have another round with a lad called Stacey who was training for a White Collar fight.
      “I did ask Tyson before they sparred, ‘Are you going to weigh him in?’
      “He said, ‘What do you mean weigh him in?’ I said, ‘Are you going to pay him?’ He went, ‘No, no, no, we don’t do that.’
      “So, I did say if you had paid him I would’ve got him to do more rounds with you. I knew what the crack was.
      ‘IS THE ROLEX UP FOR GRABS?’
      “He was going to put more on in the fourth round. Josh was an amateur and at the time he doesn’t need that.
      “So we did three rounds and that was that. I asked Tyson, ‘Is the Rolex for grabs?’
      “He just laughed. He was a really nice fella, I must admit. He was a down to earth man, and he’s a genuine person.”
      The relevance of that sparring session still remains unclear, with Joshua, 32, and Fury, 33, yet to fight each other.
      After Oleksandr Usyk, 35, beat AJ in September it dashed the chances of a Battle of Britain.
      And the domestic derby faced a further knock back when Fury knocked out Dillian Whyte, 34, in April and announced his retirement.
      But, hope is not all lost with Joshua set to rematch Usyk in Saudi Arabia on August 20.

      And Fury has CONFIRMED he would be willing to come back and fight the winner, even if his price tag has started at £500MILLION to do so.
      So if AJ upsets Usyk in their Saudi sequel, and the price is right for the Gypsy King, the two could share the ring again, but for real this time.

      The 33-year-old’s decision to retire has denied boxing fans the opportunity to see him take on the winner of AJ and Usyk’s rematch to unify the heavyweight decision.
      However, he has hinted several times that he could return – even telling talkSPORT’s Jim White and Simon Jordan that he’d be up for a comeback if he got paid £500m.

      ‘I LOVE FAST CARS’
      Mayweather calls the epic space his “Beverley Hills castle” and it features an incredible wine cellar featuring hundreds of rare drinks.
      Floyd took fans on a tour of his impressive gaff, which includes a 12-car garage for all his fancy motors.
      It’s not the only luxury mansion in Mayweather’s possession, with the star also holding residences in Miami, LA and Las Vegas.
      Aside from houses, Floyd Jr owns a host of gyms in numerous locations across America.
      Sport is where Mayweather’s heart truly lays and along with his promotional work he’s now a fully-fledged NASCAR team owner.
      The 50-0 superstar owns The Money Team, who made their debut earlier this season at the Daytona 500.
      With promising driver Kaz Grala behind the wheel, Mayweather is confident his new-found passion for speedy whips can rake in wins – and even more cash.
      He said: “I love fast cars and I love to compete.
      “I know NASCAR will not be easy, but anything easy isn’t worth doing to me.”
      ‘THIS IS REAL MONEY’
      And it might not just be motorsport that Mayweather wants a piece of.
      Reports suggest that the boxing legend wants to buy an NBA team.
      Floyd revealed on June 14: “I’ve been talking to certain people for the last six months.
      “That’s something I’ve been working on behind the scenes, but I’ve never come out to publicly talk about it with the media.
      “My team and I have been working behind the scenes with the NBA.
      “I can’t say exactly where, but I’m working on getting a team.”
      Away from sport, Floyd owns a strip joint close to his digs in Las Vegas.
      The gentleman’s club – named Girl Collection – is located close to iconic hotels including the MGM, Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
      Opening soon before his 2017 showdown with Conor McGregor, the club is not far from Money’s Dog House gym.

      Forbes named Money as the highest-paid athlete of the 2010s – and Mayweather has batted away suggestions by 50 Cent that he is ‘skint’.
      50 Cent – real name Curtis Jackson – claimed in 2020 former pal turned rival Mayweather needed a boxing return because his “money’s gone”.
      Money responded in typical fashion, posting a picture of a humongous shoe closet that requires a ladder to reach the top.

      And Jake Paul – brother of YouTuber Logan who fought Mayweather in a 2021 exhibition – also claims the Money Man is actually “broke”.
      He alleged: “Floyd is broke, man. I’ve been saying it the whole entire time.

      But Mayweather was scathing in his response to the Paul brothers, insisting that they had to be patient in waiting for pay-per-view money.
      Floyd said: “This comes with the territory to them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers.
      “The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while.
      “Nothing comes right away. I’m still collecting cheques from fights seven or eight years ago.

      Cops and Francis’ employer yesterday said they were investigating, but both probes have now been dropped.
      A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers have spoken to all parties involved and have reviewed relevant CCTV.

      Francis, now 57, won 23 of his 48 bouts and famously lost to boxing legend Tyson in Manchester in January 2000.

      He won heavyweight belts during his career, including the Commonwealth and British title.
      The Londoner last boxed in 2006 and, after retiring, started a fitness company while working as a security guard.

      FORMER world boxing champ Bernard Dunne has graduated with a Masters from University of Limerick.The Dubliner has completed his course and has now graduated as a Master of Science in Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology.

      He was among more than 700 students who attended the ceremony, the first since the pandemic from the faculties of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Education and Health Sciences and Science and Engineering.
      Bernard said he “started the course a number of years ago and absolutely loved it because I was already working in the area.
      “I had no grey hair before I started this course and look at me now.”
      Speaking of the Masters, he said: “I loved it – it helped frame and gave me tools to use immediately with athletes, with coaches, with management, so that gave me instant tools that were transferable into what I was doing.
      “I get asked to work with a lot of teams as performance coach and now I actually have a piece of paper which says I can do it. It is an amazing thing to have, my wife and my daughter are here and we are having a family day today – and it is just such a big occasion to graduate with a masters.”
      Speaking to graduates during the ceremony, UL President Professor Kerstin Mey congratulated the students for their success despite the challenges thrown up by COVID-19.
      She said: “Your journey through education has been exciting, challenging and indeed not without a great deal of effort and commitment, but today you are celebrating the fact that you have excelled academically and all while we faced some of the darkest and most challenging days in recent history.
