Hasim Rahman Jr reveals Jake Paul’s ‘biggest mistake’ ahead of fight and claims he went 50% against YouTuber in sparring

HASIM RAHMAN JR believes Jake Paul taking confidence from their sparring session is his “biggest mistake”. The pair have twice sparred each other, most recently in Las Vegas two years ago.

But Rahman has insisted he was told to hold back during the rounds and warned Paul against taking stock in how they both performed.
He said: “It was not even a 50 per cent effort on my part when I was sparring Jake Paul but he believes it was 100 per cent effort.
“I think that’s his biggest mistake. This is the biggest mistake of his career.”
Paul sparred Rahman before his first two professional wins, over YouTuber “AnEsonGib” and ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 38.

But KSI – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji – announced he will face American Wassabi on August 27 in his comeback bout.
And the fight will still go ahead, despite KSI revealing that he suffered a broken nose in training.
He said: “I managed to break my nose, god damnit. This is is my nose and it ain’t looking good bruv.
“I guess it looks a bit better now but at the time that it happened it was long for man.”

OLYMPIC silver medallist Richard Torrez has told Anthony Joshua to “hit me up” for some specialist sparring ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. American fighter Torrez, 23, reckons he would be the perfect preparation for AJ as he has the same fighting style as Usyk.

Torrez won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 games in the super-heavyweight division.
And while Usyk has moved up to heavyweight from cruiserweight division, Torrez believes he can help Joshua in his bid to reclaim his world titles.
Ahead of his fight against Roberto Zavala Jr on Friday, Torrez told Sky Sports: “I was hoping that Anthony Joshua would hit me up to spar because I kind of have an Usyk style.

Speed
As the smaller man, Paul possesses the quicker hands and feet, which could be key to his success.
Rahman, coming down from heavyweight to the cruiserweight, is not known for his speed.

Not only does Rahman have over twice as many professional fights as Paul, he also has over 100 amateur bouts under his belt.
That kind of pedigree will be huge heading into their clash and one fact some pundits cannot look past.
But what Paul is more accustomed to is the pressure of the big occasion and attention, something Rahman is yet to experience.

Record
Up until now, Paul is yet to fight a pro boxer, having beaten a YouTuber, an ex-NBA player and two former MMA champs.
Rahman does not exactly have any credible names on his record, other than his last fight, losing to McKenzie Morrison.
Paul might have had more competitive bouts, compared to the journeyman Rahman once faced, but at least they were trained boxers.

Physique
As established, Rahman is heavier having last fought at 16 stone but he has signed to fight at the 14st 4lb cruiserweight limit.
And he also has to do a second-day weigh in where he is limited to 215lb, although there is no restriction to what he enters the ring at.
So although Paul is giving away a sizeable advantage, the playing field has been evened due to the rehydration clause.
