‘I loved it’ – Ebanie Bridges hits back at UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov’s comments that ring girls are ‘useless’

The Blonde Bomber, who was also a school teacher, is currently preparing to defend her belt against compatriot Shannon O’Connell.
This week she appeared on Pub Talk, and she used the opportunity to blast back at Khabib’s controversial comments.
The now-retired undefeated UFC legend had claimed “ring girls are the most useless people in martial arts” last year.
But Bridges said: “Why are people who aren’t us, trying to take our jobs away from us? We love it, I loved being a ring girl. I don’t think it’s useless.

“I loved being part of the entertainment, being paid to watch those fights. You’ve got people saying it’s sexist, it’s objectifying… maybe I want to be objectified.
“Maybe I want to make money… don’t make my mind up for me. You can’t have boxing without the ring girls.”
Bridges revealed that her love for boxing developed at an early age after noticing the ring girls – and she says she had no qualms about becoming one herself.
She added: “I was a ring girl. I love combat sports, I grew up with it, so for me to be at the fights… I loved it.

Mayweather and Pacquiao, 45 and 43, embraced before the presser got underway – but it didn’t take long for them to take sly digs at one another.
Former eight-weight world champion Pacquaio, who trained with Asakura, said: “I’m here to support my boxer who is going to be fighting tomorrow – Asakura.”
Mayweather, who got the better of the recently-retired Pacquiao in their ‘Fight of the Century’ seven years ago, replied: “There’s no blueprint on how to beat Floyd Mayweather.
“And he can tell you that in itself. When we talk about Hall of Famers, he’s a Hall of Famer. But nobody has the remedy to beat Floyd Mayweather.

“Don’t let them trick you into getting your a** whopped again.”
Pacquiao refused to take the bait, although he did make a quip about his old rival’s age, saying: “He’s older than me. I’m still young.”
The pride of the Philippines added: “What I’ve done in boxing, it’s one of a kind.
“[Winning titles] in eight different weight divisions is not that easy.
“I’m not trying to boast about what I’ve accomplished in life, but I’m just saying to repeat that because [you] might forget that.

“The best fighter in the world has humility.”
Mayweather then told Pacquiao: “I’m not here to talk about your personal life.
“[But] when we talk about what’s going on in that squared circle, I’m the best.
“No matter how you rate it, no matter how you cut it, no matter how you slice it.

“If you go 100 years back, 300 years back all the way to now, there’s only one best. And that’s Floyd Mayweather.”
Pacquiao suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Mayweather in their multi-million-pound showdown in May 2015.
Pacman went on to fight a further seven times, winning the WBO and WBA welterweight titles, before hanging up his gloves last September.

And fans watching at home can tune in for a price of £19.99 on DAZN UK.
That has sparked backlash with DAZN coming under fire for charging extra as fans already pay a subscription fee to access their platform.
One boxing fan said: “So Canelo [Alvarez] who is probably the biggest boxing name has his PPV priced at £10😂but Benn v Eubank is £20😂.”
Another added in agreement: “What do I pay my subscription for? To watch some cr***y sports documentaries??
    READ MORE ON BOXING
“Because I ain’t seen any decent boxing on there. Canelo v GGG had to pay on top, AJ v Usyk had to pay on top. Now this!! I’m out cancelling the subscription!
And a third said: “Overpriced with a terrible undercard, just cancelled my DAZN subscription as it’s a complete waist of money.”
Others have pointed out the fact Eubank v Benn is not a title and fight and could be a mismatch given the usual weight difference between the two fighters.
Benn usually fights at 147lbs in the past and has gained 10lbs for this bout, while Eubank has shed 3lbs off his standard fighting weight.

His father Chris Eubank Sr expressed concern for his son given his weight loss and rules about rehydration.
Eubank Sr said: “This fight should not be allowed to happen, it is dangerous.
“I have given my advice and I will continue giving it because I know how dangerous weight cutting is.
“This is modern day ‘gladiating’, this is not a play thing for the audience.
“We have to be strict otherwise lives are put in danger and my son’s life cannot be put in danger. I’ve already lost one. It can’t happen again.”
Eubank Jr has not shown the same worry and instead trolled Benn with his eating habits this week, devouring dessert and a piece of birthday cake when he should be losing weight.
Benn has also ridiculed his opponent, accusing Eubank Jr of having daddy issues. More

Martial arts master Joe Joyce reckons 8,000-mile trip for kung fu schooling will help him give Joseph Parker a belting

MARTIAL ARTS master Joe Joyce reckons his kung fu schooling will help him give Joseph Parker a belting on Saturday. The Putney Juggernaut, 37, missed his own graduation and blew his final student loan instalment to fly 8,000 miles and study at a Shaolin monastery in China.

Joyce — who studied fine art at Middlesex University and excelled at rugby and athletics in his youth — faces New Zealand heavyweight Parker in Manchester.
And the winner will be in line for a world-title shot at the WBO crown, currently held by Oleksandr Usyk.
After returning from another Las Vegas training camp, the 14-0 pro — who was robbed of Olympic gold at the 2016 Rio games — told SunSport: “I have always chosen to travel for training, I have never feared that or shied away from it.
“I took myself to China to do Shaolin kung fu just after I graduated. I actually missed the ceremony, so I never threw my hat in the air or wore the gown.

“I used my last bit of student-loan money to fly out to China and do four sessions a day of kung fu for a month.
“It was a camp of foreigners who each had a trainer — we would run at 5am, then power train and then do technique, sambo or wushu. I had just started boxing around that time, so they complemented each other.”
Joyce shared these incredible photos with SunSport but ruled out any potential big-money MMA switch. He said: “I do think I could do an MMA fight.
“My striking is good enough for a few fights against similar opposition.

“But I would have to do a lot of wrestling and grappling training. And I don’t really fancy rolling around having some big bloke’s sweaty scrotum stuck on my forehead.”
Computer-game super-fan Joyce is the antithesis of your usual trash-talking flashy fighter. He added: “I like to keep my personal life pretty private. I don’t feel the need to share too much.
“My girlfriend might like the celebrity lifestyle more than me or just the Chanel bags that come with it.
“The more interviews I do the more I improve.
“I get more comfortable and confident and now I have to pull my finger out and do more.” More
