‘He’s a lunatic’ – Oleksandr Usyk blasts Tyson Fury and claims Gypsy King is asking for £500m for undisputed clash

OLEKSANDR USYK has blasted Tyson Fury and claimed he is asking for £500m for an undisputed clash. The Ukrainian beat Anthony Joshua for a second time in August to retain his WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles.

It leaves a tantalising clash with The Gypsy King on the cards for 2023.
Fury had looked set to take on Joshua in December in what pundits were claiming would have been the biggest clash in British boxing history if it could have been pulled off.
But the 34-year-old dramatically pulled the plug earlier this week after AJ’s team missed the deadline to sign the contract – but some remain hopeful.
Usyk now said a fight with Fury could be on – but admits his surprise at the Brit’s demands.

Usyk told Parimatch: “I don’t know anything about what Tyson Fury is doing or thinking. We’re in negotiations talking about a match and we’re doing our best to make this bout happen. Of course, I really want to have this fight next year.
“But if Tyson Fury is not interested in a match next year, then it’s not possible to fight against him. I’m not interested in fighting any other boxer, so let’s wait.
“He’s talking about 500 million pounds for the fight. He’s a lunatic, but in a good sense I mean. I’d also want 500 million, but it’s something crazy.”
Usyk also mentioned again that any fight this year was off the cards as he recovers from injury and looks to spend more time with his family.

The 35-year-old would also NOT rule out a trilogy fight with Joshua in the future.
He said: “If Fury doesn’t agree I think we could try to have another fight. We already had a match in London and in Saudi Arabia as well, so the next one could be at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv.”
Another potential Usyk opponent emerged over the weekend after Joe Joyce knocked out Joseph Parker.
The result has left The Juggernaut in a position to set up a fight with the biggest names in the division.
Meanwhile, Fury has announced he will be fighting Manuel Charr in December following the breakdown in plans to fight Joshua. More

He has no amateur experience and says that he has “only messed around on the pads” – but that is not stopping him from trying to add more championships to the family collection.
Roman, who lives in Morecambe and trains alongside WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson and fellow brother Tommy, told VIP Boxing: “I don’t want to rush things. I don’t want to box on big bills just because I carry the ‘Fury’ name.
“You can’t run before you can walk and the VIP Boxing shows are ideal for me to learn my ringcraft and build.
“I could have had amateur fights, but I am around professional boxers and learning that side of things.

“Amateur fights would have been a nice experience, but I would rather go into the pro ranks and learn. These shows will improve me.”
And Tyson previously said: “He’s an aspiring cruiserweight champion of the future.”
Roman previously had a scholarship to become a rugby league player but got into boxing after his weight ballooned to 19 stone.
He shifted six stone after starting training with Tyson and Tommy during lockdown and is now ready to go under the microscope by following the family tradition in the ring.

Roman added: “Being criticised is in my thoughts, but that comes with my name. People look at Tyson and assume we’re all as good as him.
“I have not had any amateur experience so I am doing it cleverly. No matter what I do people are going to criticise so I have to get on with it and do my own thing.
“It’s not like I have never put a pair of gloves on. I have always done the basics of boxing from a young boy.
“I have been around boxing my whole life and I don’t consider myself a complete novice who has just put the gloves on.
“I want to go for titles. I am looking for British titles and like any boxer have ambitions to win World titles.
“I would even love Central and English titles. I would be privileged to win them because that is very, very good. Not many boxers even win Area titles.”
The Furys have a rich history in professional boxing.
Tyson is the WBC world heavyweight champion and is still unbeaten in his professional career.
Younger brother Tommy is also yet to be beaten.
Cousins Hughie Fury and Nathan Gorman are also boxers.
Dad John also has experience inside the squared circle, competing in 13 fights and winning eight of those.
His uncle Peter Fury also enjoyed a foray into the ring while Hosea Burton and Andy Lee, who are also cousins with Tyson, are boxers too.

The 37-year-old delivered an hellacious left hook to knock out Joseph Parker on Saturday in the 11th round to secure the interim title from the WBO.

Fury is now set to defend against German Mahmoud Charr, while Usyk is taking time off and is not expected to return to the ring until next year.
Joyce is expecting Usyk to be his next opponent, but he also has his eyes on several other big bouts, including a clash with his old sparring partner AJ.

    “It’s a business and it’s entertainment.
“[Dillian Whyte] would be a great fight. It could be a slug-fest. There’s many ways I could fight him.
“I’ve always wanted to be in this position and now I’m here. I still don’t feel like I’m quite there where I want to be. I think I’ve still got a few more levels and more gears to go through.

Mike Tyson says he’d ‘kick Floyd Mayweather’s a**e’ if the boxing legends ever came to blows

MIKE TYSON confidently claimed he would kick Floyd Mayweather’s “a**” in a street fight. But the former heavyweight world champion, 56, admitted it would be a different outcome if they were the same size in the ring.
Mike Tyson has taken another cheeky swipe at the American superstar
Tyson took the cheeky dig at the American superstar in 2020 as he insisted it would not even be a contest if they ever came to blows.
When asked about a street fight with Mayweather during an interview with GQ, Iron Mike said: “[I would] kick Floyd’s a**, there wouldn’t even be no match.
“[If] I was his size in the ring, he would outpoint me.”
Tyson also insisted Mayweather is nowhere near the level of Muhammad Ali.
He said: “Listen, if he was anywhere near that realm of great as Muhammed Ali, he’d be able to take his kids to school by himself.

But he was all smiles as he enjoyed a night out on the town in New York City.

Anthony Joshua offered THIRD fight with Oleksandr Usyk as Ukrainian eyes homecoming showdown at Kyiv’s Olympic Stadium

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been offered a third crack at Oleksandr Usyk once the city of Kyiv and AJ’s confidence are rebuilt. The 32-year-old Watford hero has lost back-to-back 12-rounders to the 35-year-old Ukraine ace.

Even though the August showdown in Jeddah ended awkwardly – with the Brit icon slinging a couple of Usyk’s belts on the floor and snatching the mic for a rambling speech – they parted on fine terms.
And Usyk is now far more annoyed with WBC champ Tyson Fury for dodging their undisputed showdown.
Usyk is even worried that AJ’s team – no longer spearheaded by Team GB mentor Rob McCracken who was axed after the original September 2021 Tottenham defeat – are too busy hanging on to work on a serious fight back.
The WBA, IBF and WBO boss said: “If Fury doesn’t agree to fight me I think me and Joshua could try to have another fight.

Oleksandr Usyk spotted at Ukraine vs Scotland as heavyweight champion supports country in Nations League clash

OLEDSANDR USYK was spotted at tonight’s Nations League clash between Ukraine and Scotland.Unfortunately he wasn’t there to support Steve Clarke’s side though as the world heavyweight champion cheered on his homeland Ukraine in their final fixture in the group.

He was seen proudly singing the national anthem before the match kicked off as he held his nation’s flag behind his head.
Usyk is widely regarded as one of the greatest Ukrainian boxers of all time.
He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles since 2021, The Ring magazine heavyweight title since 2022, and the undisputed cruiserweight title from 2018 to 2019.
The undefeated heavyweight extended his streak to 20 victories after overcoming Anthony Joshua for the second consecutive time last month in Saudi Arabia.
And now he is enjoying some time off as he takes in tonight’s Nations League fixture in Poland.
Aside from boxing he is a big football fan.
In another world he could have became a footballer instead of opting for the gloves as he even made his professional football debut for Ukrainian second-tier side FC Polissya earlier this year before taking on AJ in the rematch fight.
His boxing career may be coming to an end as well as the champ revealed this month that he will retire in the near future but plans to fight Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarev first.
    Most read in Sport
He said: “I can have three more fights at the very most.
“It is the most realistic to be in my top form. With Fury, Canelo and a farewell fight at Olympiyskiy.
“With Canelo he said that he wanted to fight me. It would be a freak fight just for the sake of earning money.
“I only need to beat Fury and then it is time to retire for me. The unification of all the belts is much more important than just a fight or another defence.
“I want to outbox Fury and I don’t want to work that much just for another defence. There is much more that I can achieve.”
While he’s admired across the globe for his skill and personality, you can guarantee most, if not all, of Scotland will be hoping he goes home unhappy once the final whistle goes in Krakow this evening.
