The account is shown to have sent two messages ahead of Palace’s game with Aston Villa today with one reading: “You better not score tomorrow you black c***.”
The other read: “Or I’ll come to your house dressed as a ghost.”
A disgusting image of the Ku Klux Klan, a racist hate group based in the US, was also sent to the footballer.
Zaha captioned the screenshots: “Woke up to this today.”

West Midlands Police confirmed after the game – which Villa won 2-0 – that a boy, aged 12, from Solihull has been arrested in relation to the incident.
A statement published on Twitter said: “We were alerted to a series of racist messages sent to a footballer today and after looking into them and conducting checks, we have arrested a boy.

“The 12-year-old from #Solihull has been taken to custody.
“Thanks to everyone who raised it. Racism won’t be tolerated.”

This comes two weeks after the Premier League launched a system to allow players to report online abuse.
Earlier, cops had replied to Zaha’s tweet, encouraging the Palace winger to report the sick abuse as a crime.
It read: “Hi Wilfried. We are looking into who the owner of this account is and would encourage you to report it to your local police force too.”

Both clubs were quick to condemn the vile messages and Villa vowed to ban the culprit for life.
An Aston Villa statement read: “We deplore the disgusting racist messages sent to Zaha. We condemn all forms of racial discrimination and stand with Crystal Palace.
“We are working with the police in investigating this extremely serious matter and when the culprit is identified AVFC will issue a lifetime ban.”
Palace added: “This is an absolute disgrace and should not be happening.
“We stand with you, Wilf, and anyone else who has to suffer such horrific abuse.”

I think it is right that Wilf has made people aware of it, I don’t think this is something that you should keep quiet about.”
    Roy Hodgson

The Eagles boss Roy Hodgson spoke on the matter ahead of kick-off at Villa Park, praising Zaha for making the abuse public.
He said: “It has been highlighted at the moment anyway with the Black Lives Matter movement and everyone seems to be making such an effort to eradicate this type of behaviour.
“It’s very sad that on the day of a game a player should wake up to this cowardly and despicable abuse.

“I think it is right that Wilf has made people aware of it, I don’t think this is something that you should keep quiet about.
“I think it is very good that our club, Aston Villa and the Premier League are doing everything they can to find out who this despicable individual is and one can only hope that they will get identified and they will get called to account and they will pay for these actions.
“There is literally no excuse; there is no excuse at all. He wants to put off one of our best players from playing well, but to do it in the way he has chosen to do it, it is totally inexcusable.”
A Premier League statement said: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and the Premier League stands alongside @wilfriedzaha in opposing this, and discrimination in any form. There is #NoRoomForRacism, anywhere.
“We will continue to support players, managers, coaches and their family members who receive serious discriminatory online abuse.
“Through our dedicated reporting system we can take immediate action on cases like this.”
In response to the arrest, anti-racism campaigner Steve Browne tweeted: “Some instant action and Zaha racial abuse or so it seems….Please do not be shocked at the age.”

Fellow footballers posted their support for Zaha with Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker tweeting: “This is abhorrent, and surely a criminal offence.”
In May, an Irish teenager was questioned by police after Arsenal and Palace legend Ian Wright shared racist abuse he had also suffered over Instagram private messaging.
And Tammy Abraham was targeted with vile online abuse last night after Chelsea’s defeat to Sheffield United – amid calls for social media companies to do more to prevent racist messages.

Figures from around the game posted their support for Zaha with football’s efforts to combat racism recently emphasised following the death of George Floyd in the United States.
Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker tweeted: “This is abhorrent, and surely a criminal offence.”
Former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray stated: “I credit Wilfried Zaha for dealing with it the way he has.

“He has outed the individual and then passed it over to the powers that be and they need to deal with it. I think Wilf will use it as motivation, show them that he is better than them and rise above it.
“It is a disgrace – talking about going to someone’s house, it is just disgraceful. No individual deserves it and the punishment needs to fit the crime. You have to throw the book at them, also educate, but throw the book at them.”

Premier League blasted and accused of ‘shameful’ lack of action to increase diversity by former player

THE Premier League have been blasted and accused of a “shameful” lack of action to increase their diversity.
Other than support players taking a knee and wearing Black Lives Matter logos, there is a feeling the top flight has done little to end systemic discrimination within the game.

And that is leading to increasing anger from stars past and present, who claim the biggest league in the world is doing nothing but pay lip service to battling racism.
One former player at the highest level, now working as a coach, told SunSport: “What the Premier League have done — or haven’t done, if we’re honest — is shameful.
“It’s OK for them to say the players can take a knee and that a badge will be on a shirt.
“But that’s nothing — and doesn’t change anything about the actual issue.

“We know there’s hardly any black representation, the whole point is to be open and transparent — show you are actually bothered about making a change. Thirty per cent of the players in the league are black.
“They are the ones producing, so the people at the top are rolling in it — but they don’t want to change so black people can get into senior roles within the organisation.
“The only thing we’ve seen since all this blew up is them announcing work-experience placements for six coaches.
“And even then, all those will be placed at clubs in the EFL. It’s just embarrassing.”

Darren Moore will head the new Black Participants Advisory GroupCredit: Dave Pinegar – The Sun
The Prem launched a scheme last week, along with the PFA and EFL, to hand 23-month work placements to six BAME coaches — although none of those positions will be with teams in the top flight.
The League also set up the Black Participants Advisory Group, headed by Doncaster boss Darren Moore, which they meet with regularly to help shape policies.
Yet none of those who sit on the group are employed by the top flight — and there is a belief that all those in senior decision-making roles at the Premier League are white.
The current Premier League Board is all white — three men and a woman — while there is no black representation in any of the other senior roles.
The League do publish their diversity figures which show that, of 182 employees, 12.22 per cent are classed as BAME.
But they do not drill down to reveal how many of that group are black, or even detail what the numbers are in different levels within the organisation.
The source added: “It’s easy to hide behind BAME — but do you know how that feels to be grouped into a collective?
“It’s white and then everyone else can all go in a group together so the stats look better.

Once again it looks as though the Premier League are doing the minimum.
    Sun Source

“How many of that 12 per cent are black? And in what roles? None in a senior position, I’m telling you.
“The Premier League, the biggest in the world, should be leading the way — but once again it looks as though they are doing the minimum.”
The League points to the development of their coaches programme, on top of the Elite Coach Apprenticeship Scheme, which has been running since 2015, as signs that they are working to increase diversity.
They also launched a reporting system for players, bosses and their families who receive racist abuse online and regularly meet with the Black Participants Advisory Group.
