Erik ten Hag just 2/1 to leave Man Utd before Christmas as list of likely replacements revealed

ERIK TEN HAG is just 2/1 to leave Manchester United before CHRISTMAS.Bookmakers Betfair slashed the odds of the Dutchman leaving his Old Trafford post after the latest horror show in the defeat to Brighton – their fourth consecutive loss to the Seagulls.

That home thumping comes after a tough time as he deals with off field and on field issues at the club.
However, speaking after the game he assured fans the club is NOT in a crisis.
He also called on the players to step up and turn their early season fortunes around.
But that loss made in three defeats in their opening five games – the first time United have started this poorly in the Premier League’s history.
That’s forced Betfair to act and slash the odds of Ten Hag quitting this year, while also revealing their list of most likely replacements.
And previous favourite for the job, Zinedine Zidane leads the betting as the 4/1 market leader to replace him.
Potential Man Utd replacementsShould Erik Ten Hag leave

    Zinedine Zidane: 4/1
    Julian Nagelsmann: 11/2
    Roberto De Zerbi: 15/2
    Michael Carrick: 9/1
    Graham Potter: 10/1
    Mauricio Pochettino: 14/1
    Antonio Conte: 16/1
    Brendan Rodgers: 16/1
    Gareth Southgate: 16/1
    Diego Simeone: 20/1

He’s been out of the management game since leaving Real Madrid for a second time at the end of the 20/21 campaign.
Julian Nagelsmann (11/2) is next with Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi third favourite (15/2).
Club legend Michael Carrick (9/1) and Graham Potter (10/1) are two others potentially in contention.
While Mauricio Pochettino (14/1) has been long-linked with the United hot-seat and could be looking for a way out of Chelsea after his own rotten start.
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Erik ten Hag is 2/1 to leave Man United by Christmas following his side’s 3-1 loss to Brighton. The Red Devils’ defeat is the latest of a number of casualties at the club.
“Zinedine Zidane is the 4/1 favourite to become Ten Hag’s successor, while Julian Nagelsmann (11/2), Roberto de Zerbi (15/2) and Michael Carrick (9/1) are the outsiders to take over.”

Who will win World Cup Golden Boot? Latest odds as Messi, Mbappe, Giroud & Alvarez contest for top scorer

THE fight for the World Cup final is down to just two and the bookmakers can’t split them. But there’s another battle unfolding between Argentina and France that involves FOUR big hitters from the event, with Betfair again anticipating a tight conclusion.

BETFAIR: GET £30 IN FREE BETS*
The nations meet in Sunday’s Qatar showpiece where millions around the world will tune in.
It’s set to be a tight finale to the competition, with France just favourites as the bookies struggle to split them.
The race for the Golden Boot still has four contenders, all with very live chances of lifting it, and Betfair see a tense battle between the top two unfolding here, too.
Of course, they’d trade that personal accolade in to be sure of winning the World Cup.
    But why not win both?
That’s the aim anyway, with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe leading the charts with five goals each.
Messi just slightly has the edge as the first tie breaker is assists, to which he has three and Mbappe two.
That sees him going into the game as the 4/5 favourite to lift the award, ahead of PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe at 11/8.

    Lionel Messi: 4/5
    Kylian Mbappe: 11/8
    Olivier Giroud: 16/1
    Julian Alvarez: 16/1

BETFAIR: GET £30 IN FREE BETS*

But you can’t discount the two centre forwards from either nation.
Olivier Giroud became France’s all-time leading goalscorer earlier in the competition, before planting a winning header to knock England out.
Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez bagged a double in the semi final win over Croatia and joined Giroud on four goals for the competition.
Another brace from either player in Sunday’s final and they’re firmly in with a shout of winning top scorer.
Both players are 16/1 with Betfair.
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “France are the 5/6 favourites to successfully defend their World Cup crown against Argentina ahead of Sunday’s final.
“Lionel Messi will look to lift a first World Cup with his country and they are 10/11 to do just that.
“Meanwhile, Messi is the odds-on favourite to bag the Golden Boot at 4/5, with Kylian Mbappe, who has gone two games without a goal, 11/8.”

World Cup odds: Bookies can’t split Argentina and France ahead of huge final

THE bookmakers are having a tough time splitting the World Cup finalists, with France heading into the clash as favourites….JUST!Betfair actually have both Les Bleus and Argentina as odds-on shots to lift the trophy on Sunday night.
World Cup betting odds with BetfairCredit: Getty
Lionel Messi and co are 10/11 for glory after a strong 3-0 win over Croatia in the semi final.
A Messi penalty and Julian Alvarez double was the difference on the night for the South Americans, who were never really involved in the top few in the betting until the quarter final stage.
Many see it being written in the stars for Messi in his final World Cup appearance.
He’s also tied at the top of the Golden Boot standings with PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe, which is another interesting sideshow.
Mbappe racked up his five goals in the groups and last 16 ties, failing to score in the quarters or 2-0 semi final win over Morocco.
But he has shown his incredible pace and power on numerous occasions and will of course back himself to score in Sunday’s showpiece.

Olivier Giroud and Julian Alvarez are both on four goals, so not far behind going into that game.
The French are 5/6 to lift the trophy, therefore slight favourites.

Man Utd transfer news: Bookies reveal FULL LIST of most likely forward signings in January to replace Cristiano Ronaldo

MANCHESTER UNITED are actively pursuing a new striker in January following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. And there are several high-profile targets who could join Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford during the winter, according to bookmakers Betfair.
Cody Gakpo is Manchester United’s most likely January addition, according to BetfairCredit: GETTY
BETFAIR: GET £30 IN FREE BETS*
Ronaldo, 37, left United shortly after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.
His departure was “mutually agreed” but leaves the club short on genuine striking options with 24 matches of the campaign remaining.
Reports suggest Ten Hag will look to remedy that situation in January, and Betfair think there’s one stand-out option in Cody Gakpo.
Gakpo, 23, has shone for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
He’s scored three of Holland’s eight goals, adding to the 13 he’s already registered for PSV Eindhoven in the 2022-23 season.
SunSport understand United chiefs are ready to make an approach, and could be prepared to meet PSV’s £50million valuation.
Gakpo, though, has insisted his full focus is on helping the Netherlands to World Cup success.
Man Utd transfer odds – forwardBetfair odds

He said: “I’m not thinking about that now. I’m just really focused on the tournament, trying to keep performing well and helping the team and hopefully when we become world champion then I can think about that.”
    Most read in Sport
Behind the 7/4 favourite Gakpo is Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha at 12/1.
However, Cadena Ser claim Wolves are close to winning that battle with Cunha possibly being the first signing of the Julen Lopetegui era.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney is next at 14/1 ahead of 16/1 shot Mohamed Kudus, who’s also earned plaudits for his performances in Qatar.
The final name in the frame is Paris Saint-Germain and France superstar Kylian Mbappe (50/1), who is reportedly eyeing a Parc des Princes departure.

ENGLAND have fallen someway down the betting order for World Cup glory after their goalless draw with USA.Bookmakers Betfair updated their odds after each nation had played two group stage games with now FOUR nations a shorter price than Gareth Southgate’s men.

England face Wales tonight knowing their place in the last-16 is all-but secure.
Despite blowing Iran away in the opening game, a far from convincing performance followed against the US, seeing the Three Lions move from 13/2 second favourites to 9/1 shots.
Brazil secured their place in the knockouts after just two games with a pair of wins over Serbia and Switzerland.
They are 5/2 favourites ahead of France at 11/2, who also won their opening two games.
Spain still have a bit of work to do but have been impressive to watch in racking up their four points and are strongly fancied to make the next stage.
They are 13/2 third favourites to win the competition, with Lionel Messi’s Argentina ahead of England at 8/1.

Despite a shocking defeat in the opening game, Argentina bounced back with a 2-0 win over Mexico and will need to beat Poland to guarantee their spot in the next round.
Then come England at 9/1, with more questions now being asked of Southgate after the latest performance.
Portugal are in the last-16 with their two wins and are 10/1 to win the World Cup, with Germany rescuing a crucial point against Spain in their last outing at 11/1.
Netherlands face Qatar with a win meaning they go through as group winners and they are 13/1 to win the tournament.
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom added: “England are 9/1 to win the World Cup ahead of their final Group B clash with Wales on Tuesday.
“Gareth Southgate’s side were 13/2 before their goalless draw against USA, with France, Spain, Argentina and 5/2 favourites Brazil now ahead of them in the betting.
“Unsurprisingly, England are the 4/9 odds-on favourites to beat Wales, who are 15/2 to pull off a shock result.”

ENGLAND are now second-favourites to win the World Cup – trailing only pre-tournament favourites Brazil.Bookmakers Betfair updated their odds following Argentina’s shock defeat to Saudi Arabia this morning.

The Three Lions came into the tournament as 8/1 fourth-favourites behind Brazil, France and Argentina.
Yesterday’s thumping 6-2 win over Iran saw their odds clipped to 7/1 for glory but still behind the other three nations.
But Lionel Messi and co flopping against the world number 53 side saw a major shake-up in the odds.
Brazil still lead the way as the 3/1 favourites with their opening game still to come.
Then it’s England who are now 13/2 second-favourites, just ahead of France at 7/1 who kick-off their competition tonight against Australia.
