The build-up show was due to detail the two fights their fathers, Chris Sr and Nigel, had more than 30 years ago, before throwing forward to their sons’ bout this weekend.
Now though, the BBC have replaced the programme – which was due to air at 10.40pm this evening – with period drama Victoria and Abdul.
It is not yet known whether the fight will go ahead at The 02 on Saturday night.
The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed on Wednesday that they are “prohibiting” it from taking place.

However, Eubank Jr has insisted he still wants it to happen despite reservations over the failed test.
A VADA test found an adverse finding in one of Benn’s results, with traces of the fertility drug clomifene discovered.
But, while Eubank Jr denied Benn’s claim the pair had spoken on the phone to straighten out the issue, he remains keen to face his British rival.
He said: “I am staying out of the politics, I dont know whats going on. I have heard the news, all I can do is be a professional and be ready to fight.

“I am ready, and as news unfolds we will deal with it as it goes on.
“I am prepared, I have done my job. It is now in the hands of promoters and governing bodies to make this fight happen. All I can do is be ready.
“Of course there are concerns [about the failed test]. I can’t really say too much. I am ready, I am a clean fighter, I have cut the weight, I am ready to go.”
Meanwhile, Benn has protested his innocence just hours after news of his failed test emerged.
He told DAZN: “I’ve not committed any violations. I’ve not been suspended. So as far as I’m concerned the fight’s still going ahead.
“I’ve spoken to Chris [Eubank Jr] personally and we both want the fight to go ahead.
“We’ve both taken medical and legal advice, and as I said, we want the fight to happen for the fans.
“I’ve signed up to every voluntary anti-doping testing there is under the sun.
“Throughout my whole career I’ve been tested. All my UK tests have come back negative throughout my whole career, I’ve never had any issues before.
“Even in the lead-up to this fight, my tests have come up negative, you know, so my team will find out as to why there’s been an initial adverse finding in my test.

“But as I said, as far as I’m concerned the fight is still going ahead, I’m a clean athlete and we’ll get to the bottom of this.

‘Anti-woke’ Mark Lawrenson slams BBC as he claims he was sacked as football pundit for being ’65 and a white male’

MARK LAWRENSON believes he was axed by the BBC because he is “65 and a white male”. The former Liverpool defender spent 30 years as a pundit with the broadcaster.
Mark Lawrenson hit out at the BBC over his exit in March after 30 years as a punditCredit: PA
That included a quarter of a century on Football Focus and covering six World Cups.
But he was let go in March as the BBC took the decision to move on without him.
Lawro told the Sunday Times: “The Beeb are probably the worst at giving you bad news.
“It was just, ‘We are going on the road next season with Focus. We don’t think it is really something for you.’
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
“I haven’t watched the programme since to see if they have gone on the road.
“They forget you are an ex-footballer and could get subbed or dropped or transferred.
“Somebody could say to me, ‘I’m sorry, it’s not good news.’
“And I would say, ‘OK, just tell me what it is.’

“I just wish they had said to me at the start of my contract last year, ‘You’ve had a great run, thanks very much and you are not working next season.’ ”
Asked what he thinks the true reason behind the exit is, Lawrenson added: “Well, I’m 65 and a white male, so you know…”
Lawrenson joined the likes of Mark Pougatch, Cornelius Lysaght and Alan Green in leaving the BBC while at Sky Sports Matt Le Tissier, Charlie Nicholas and pal Phil Thompson were also shipped out from Soccer Saturday duties as the broadcasters embraced more diverse punditry teams.
However, Lawrenson hit out at the Beeb’s approach and described himself as “anti-woke”.
He said: “In all my time at the BBC, nobody ever said you can’t say this or that, but the woke thing drives me bonkers.
“Whereas normally you would say the first thing that comes into your head, you’re now thinking, ‘If I say that will I get into trouble?’
“It was a bit like playing with your legs tied together.
“The BBC is the national broadcaster and I get that, but they are frightened to death of upsetting anybody.
    LAW’S FINAL STRAW
“I spoke to Tommo and it caught him completely by surprise. Is the show [Soccer Saturday] any better? No. Not as good? Yeah.
“It was just a strange, strange thing to do. Now they go around and do theatres and they’re packed out.”
Lawrenson also raged at criticism for using brand names such as Greggs and avoiding the term “walls” when talking about free-kicks following Princess Diana’s death in 1997.
The five-time First Division winner and European Cup champion with the Reds initially struggled to warm to new host Alex Scott after she replaced Dan Walker, who had been in the chair for 12 years.
But Lawrenson’s view has changed as he threw his support behind the former Arsenal and England defender, who this week opened up on her experiences suffering racism, sexism and abuse.
The 39-cap Ireland international said: “Alex was just thrown in, so from the outset we were trying to make the programme as easy as possible for her.
“It was a little bit frustrating because she would ask you a question and then move on to the next person and I would want to say something I had just thought of, but I just had to shut up because she was just learning.
“She has done well in fairness to her and she is a lovely kid. It’s a tough gig, because Dan was so good.
“Some people just don’t want her to be any good, but she has gotten better and better.”

Lawrenson has been promised a farewell lunch by the BBC and can invite 20 guests – something he is looking forward to as overall he reflects fondly on his three decades with the broadcaster.

TalkSPORT saves the day with full classified results as BBC refuses to bring back service despite fan uproar

TALKSPORT have stepped in to save the legendary full classified results after the BBC refused to bring back the service. The Beeb made the bold call to stop what has been a staple part of its broadcasting by axing the classified football results from its radio stations.
TalkSPORT have stepped in to save the classified results after BBC axed them
They had been reading out football results since the early 1950s every Saturday evening.
John Webster was the first to call them out before they were made famous by James Alexander Gordon.
He delivered the scores with his trademark Scottish accent from 1973 to 2013 before passing it on to Charlotte Green.
However, all of that nostalgic history ended on Saturday when BBC failed to deliver the classifieds on BBC Radio 5 Live, leading to a major backlash.
    READ MORE FOOTBALL
A number of football fans blasted the decision, leading to BBC saying in a statement: “We appreciate the strength of feeling towards the classified football results within Sports Report.
“It’s always difficult when a programme with a special history changes, but there are good reasons for the change.
“With the addition of the 5.30pm live Premier League match to our coverage, Sports Report has been condensed into a shorter programme – cut from 1 hour to 25 minutes.
“The classifieds were taking around 5-7 minutes to read, which would have taken up around a third of the programme – constraining the range of sport we could cover.

“We’d like to assure our listeners that results from across the football leagues will still be shared during the programme and through the afternoon.
“Results are also available in full on the BBC Sport website and during Final Score on BBC One. Having a live match at 5.30 is a great addition to the 5 Live schedule.”
However, fear not footy fans – TalkSport has moved to save to the day.
We can reveal that our sister station will still be providing the service each and every Saturday right on time at 5pm.
And they confirmed it in a tweet which read: “The classified results are important.
“That’s why we’d never get rid of them.” More

Fury at BBC after axing classified football results service at 5pm as Mark Lawrenson rages ‘talk about an OG, WTF’

FOOTBALL fans have reacted with fury after the BBC axed their classified football results service at 5pm. Former pundit Mark Lawrenson led the online backlash and labelled the decision an “own goal”.

The traditional reading of the top flight, football league and Scottish results on BBC Radio goes back decades.
Fans returning to their cars or heading home on the train from matches have been able to listen to the results service on the radio since the 1950s.
But stunned footie supporters were surprised to find no reading of the results on the 5 Live Sports Report programme, the world’s longest-running sports radio show.
Following a backlash, the BBC confirmed that since they have acquired the rights to broadcast Saturday evening Premier League matches on 5 Live, they have shaken up the schedule.

A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: “With the addition of the 5.30pm live Premier League match to our coverage, Sports Report has been condensed into a shorter programme.
“We will still offer a comprehensive goal service throughout the day on air and on the BBC Sport website as well as Final Score on BBC One.
“We would like to thank everyone who has read the classified football results on 5 Live over the years.”
The announcement sparked outrage from football fans who have spent years looking out for the classified results.

Lawrenson, the former Football Focus pundit, made his feelings clear.
He tweeted: “Can’t believe the BBC have dropped the Reading of the Classified results on Sports Report…..Talk about an OG..!! WTF….”
His tweet was followed by three facepalm emojis.
Another unhappy fan tweeted: “A certainty in all our lives for decades just dropped. Absolutely ridiculous decision.”
One footie supporter said: “It’s madness. Sports Report has been an institution for decades, and with ‘that’ music too.”
Another said simply: “End of an era right there.”
The classified results were first read out by John Webster as early as the 1950s.

The 36-year-old’s deal runs until the end of 2023 in Washington DC but there is a “Coleen release clause” in his contract that allows him to leave sooner, according to reports.
Last week Rooney confirmed he would not be joined in the States by Coleen, 36, and their four children – Kai, 12, Klay, 9, Kit, 6, and Cass, 4.

Both broadcasters want to land Rooney as he will be free to work with the MLS season set to finish at the end of October, making him available to cover the Three Lions in Qatar.
A source said: “Wayne is keen to be involved. Not only is it a really lucrative opportunity but it’s an area Wayne is keen to get more experience in.
“Wayne has appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football and really enjoyed the whole thing and broadcasting is an area he is keen to get more experience in.
“And for ITV and BBC, landing Rooney would be a massive coup. He is one of England’s greatest ever players and remains a massive fan of the national team.

“When he was at Derby he slept at the training ground to make sure he was there enough to give the job his full attention and he will do the same if he needs to in the States.
“He is working hard and has been watching DC’s previous games over and over again to try and pick up on things that can be improved. Wayne is determined to succeed.”
The entire Rooney family moved to America when Wayne played for DC United between 2018 and 2020, but Coleen struggled to settle away from home. More

“The BBC brand is synonymous with premium sport, and it will apply its extensive expertise in delivering wide-reaching Uefa Champions League coverage for fans in the market.”
