Now an inquiry has been launched after he was accused of inappropriate touching.
One of the three allegations is understood to relate to a younger member of staff who was in a relationship with Nicholls, according to The Telegraph.
That was a breach of Formula E guidelines.
All of the allegations, which emerged as he was preparing to broadcast on Radio 5 Live, were raised within Formula E, the all-electric motor racing series, and caught BBC’s F1 team unaware.

Rather than the individual believed to have been affected, two of the complaints were said to have been made by witnesses instead.
A Formula E statement read: “Formula E can confirm that an investigation was carried out in response to complaints of inappropriate behaviour received about Jack Nicholls.
“Following this investigation, Jack Nicholls’s contract to provide race commentary was terminated.”
Nicholls has now released his own statement, saying: “Although disappointed with the decision, I respect it and accept why it was taken.

“I want to take full responsibility for what I did and apologise unreservedly for a couple of isolated incidents that has made those concerned feel uncomfortable.
“I never meant any harm and I am committed to making amends and to be more mindful of my behaviour in future.”
Nicholls currently still remains at the BBC as a freelancer.
The Beeb have not received any complaints of Nicholls’ conduct.
Nicholls has been a regular on BBC since 2016 and often works as part of a team that includes ex-F1 driver Jolyon Palmer and Jennie Gow.  More

Huge summer sporting event has NO TV deal sparking ‘concern’ with bosses

BBC and ITV are under pressure to announce a TV deal for the Women’s World Cup after the governments of the Big Five European markets weighed into the ongoing row.Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer was among the five signatories stating their “concern” at the lack of agreement with just seven weeks until kick-off in Australia and New Zealand.
Some broadcasters are yet to claim rights for the Women’s World Cup despite the success of Euro 2022Credit: Getty
ITV and the Beeb are understood to have made a £9m joint bid which Fifa is expected to accept.
But broadcasters in France, Germany, Italy and Spain are said to have proposed “derisory” offers of a fraction of the bids for the men’s tournament.
They have been strongly criticised by Fifa President Gianni Infantino, who is reluctant to dig further into the world body’s funds.
And now the governments have pledged to put on the big squeeze.

In a joint statement by the senior sports ministers of all five countries, the governments said: “We have acknowledged with concern that until now, no television rights have been attributed for the matches broadcasting in our countries.
“We are aware of the legitimate interests and budgetary constraints pressuring both assignees and independent broadcasters, who need a viable economic model for each of them.
“And we also recognise the specific organisational constraints that are likely to affect the ‘market value’ of the European broadcasters’ rights, such as the hours of broadcasting.
“However, we are convinced that the media coverage of the Women’s World Cup will be decisive in improving the global visibility of women’s sports in our European countries.

“Media exposure to women’s sports has indeed a highly significant impact on the development of women’s and young girls’ sports practices.
“Because of the high potential of the Fifa Women’s World Cup and the sport and social issues at stake, we consider it our responsibility to fully mobilise all stakeholders, for them to quickly reach an agreement.
“These are decisions for Fifa and broadcasters to take independently, but we know that discussions are in progress and we are confident in Fifa and independent broadcasters’ capability to find a common path toward fair development.” More

Gow said she would not be here without her husband, Jamie
Having posted an update a couple of weeks after her frightening ordeal, she has now appeared in a short film to recount the experience.
The film, which aired on BBC’s The One Show, saw Gow reveal how her “extremely rare” stroke was caused by a cough she developed.
In the short film, she began by recounting her career as an F1 reporter before saying: “But then my life changed dramatically.
“At 45, I suffered a serious stroke. And I’ve spent the last few months learning to walk, and more significantly, to talk again.

“Just after Christmas I got sick, it wasn’t Covid, but I had a terrible cough and then my husband Jamie found me collapsed in the bathroom.”
Jamie then revealed the panic which set over him at the time.
He said: “I was trying to call your name and get you to speak to me and I was just getting nothing back from you. It was the worst moment of my life.”
Upon hearing his response, Gow could not hold back her emotions and broke down into tears.

Their daughter, Isabel, was described as a “superstar” by Jamie, with the six-year-old rushing to grab some pillows and put them under her mothers head before passing the phone to Jamie.
After being rushed to Frimley Park hospital and receiving “very prompt” treatment, Gow later posted a message on social media.
She wrote: “Hi everyone, been quiet the last few weeks, this is because I suffered a serious stroke two weeks ago.
“My husband is helping me type this, as I’m finding it hard to write and my speech is most affected.
“I’m desperate to make a full recovery and return to work but it might take some time.
“Thank you to the medical teams at Frimley and St George’s and my family and friends who’ve got me through the last fortnight X.”

Dr Thomas Pain, one of Gow’s consultants, appeared in the video to explain how her stroke was caused.
He said: “The majority of strokes are caused by a blockage in a blood vessel which supplies the brain.
“Your stroke was caused by a clot from the carotid artery, in the neck, a tear in the blood vessel due to coughing and a viral infection you had at the time.
“That clot flew up the vessel, causing the stroke on the left side of the brain.”
After being transferred to a specialist unit at St Georges’ in London, Gow had her clot successfully removed before any significant damage was caused.

Gow vowed to continue down her road of recovery, despite admitting she still feels numb down her right side and is suffering with no sense of taste.
She declared: “I’m determined to come back as strong as ever and I want to share my experiences to try and shine a light on stroke survivors – and if this can help just one person that will be enough.” More

And they aren’t short of high-profile contenders
Ahead of the change, SunSport examines six contenders to take over from Humphrey as lead presenter.

    LAURA WOODS
Popular talkSPORT host Laura Woods has been linked with a move to the new TNT Sports.
According to the Mail, positive talks have taken place between the two parties as they look to agree a deal.
In addition to her radio work, Woods hosts boxing on DAZN and presented for ITV at the World Cup in Qatar – having previously spent 13 years with Sky Sports before leaving 12 months ago.

    JERMAINE JENAS
The former Tottenham man is a regular pundit on BT Sport, but could yet be offered a hosting role.
Jenas, 40, presents MOTDx on the BBC, and has occasionally hosted European matches on BT, as well as Match of the Day 2.
The ex-England international may be in the pipeline to host more matches next season.

    GARY LINEKER
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker previously hosted BT Sport’s Champions League coverage before quitting in 2021 to follow Leicester in Europe.
His MOTD commitment has always prevented him from taking on a weekend Prem gig elsewhere, but after his suspension controversy earlier this year, perhaps he could be tempted away from the Beeb.
And with the Foxes nearing relegation, European jaunts won’t be an issue for Lineker next term.

    MARK CHAPMAN
MOTD 2 host Mark Chapman could be a target for TNT Sports’ new coverage.
The 49-year-old is synonymous with the BBC, but did replace Laura Woods as Sky Sports’ League Cup presenter at the beginning of the season.

Ian Wright makes history on Match of the Day but Aston Villa fans left fuming with coverage of their win over Tottenham

IAN WRIGHT and Shaun Wright-Phillips made history as they became the first father and son duo on Match of the Day.The pair joined host Gary Lineker, 62, on last night’s BBC show to analyse the day’s Premier League action.

Wright, 59, has been a regular on the show for years, while Wright-Phillips, 41 made his first-ever appearance on the programme.
The duo were confirmed on the line-up by Match of the Day earlier this week with many excited at the prospect of seeing their dynamics.
During the show, Lineker was keen to drop in as many jokes as possible.
The former Barcelona and Tottenham striker introduced them by saying, “We’ve got a Wright pair in the studio, Ian and Shaun. Welcome Shaun.”

The show started with an analysis of Leeds’ 2-2 draw with Newcastle at Elland Road.
The pair agreed on their opinions of the game, which led Lineker to say: “It’s lovely when father and son agree.
“It doesn’t always happen. I know from my own experiences.”
One of the funniest moments came later in the show as Lineker read out that Taiwo Awoniyi was the first player to score consecutive braces for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League since 1995.

And he joked to Shaun: “You were in nappies and he was teaching you how to wee at that point.”
The two laughed before Lineker informed Shaun he was actually 14 in 1995.
Wright jokes: “He was still pretty small though! I remember!”
Wright-Phillips hit back with, “I’m actually tall right now!.”
During the coverage of Tottenham’s defeat at Villa Park to Aston Villa was another great moment.
While Wright was giving his opinion on how Spurs should have taken advantage of Villa’s high defensive line, he was interrupted by his son.
Wright-Phillips said: “Dad are you just saying that because it’s Spurs right?”
To which Wright replied: “Did you see the offsides? If you made runs like that when you were younger, you’d be in serious trouble!”
Leading to Lineker to break up the bickering with: “Let’s move on, we don’t want any domestics! I can’t believe you said that!”
But Villa fans watching were left fuming with the coverage of their match as they argued that the defense has been greatly improved since Unai Emery’s arrival at the club.
One viewer tweeted: “Appalling analysis. Instead of praising the defensive high line (which has caught out the opposing teams over 90 times since Emery has taken charge), they instead criticise Spurs for not exposing it and instead saying Villa will get found out eventually.
    “Fresh punditry needed.”
A second said: “Thought the MOTD analysis was very poor villa controlled that game from start to finish, and all they could talk about was our high line.”
A third wrote: “Wow… how lucky were Villa today. Didn’t deserve the win, just lucky that Spurs were so bad.
