As she stood alongside fellow pundit Dion Dublin, it soon emerged that she had something in her hands, along with the ex-Coventry and Aston Villa man.
Brown-Finnis said: “I have a little welcome, a tradition here at Burnley. At half time, go and have a Benny and Hot.”
The trio then grabbed one each and proceeded to drink it as Scott let out a loud “woah” after sinking a sip.
Brown-Finnis then described it as “medicinal” before saying: “That’s why we always have colour in our cheeks and a spring in our step.”

Rather than finish it off, Scott proceeded to continue with the Football Focus show, but viewers appeared to love her willingness to get amongst it.
One fan tweeted with a thumbs-up emoji: “Alex Scott on the bene ‘n hot.”
As another commented: “Enjoying #footballfocus with @AlexScott and @DionDublinsDube.”
The unofficial matchday drink at Burnley FC for the past century has been “Benny and Hot” – the french liqueur Benedictine topped up with hot water.

And the Burnley miners’ club is the biggest consumer of the spirit outside of France.
The love of the drink dates back to the First World War when men in the 11th Battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment were billeted in Normandy.
They discovered the local liqueur and started drinking it as grog with hot water.
It soon became known as “Benny and Hot” and travelled home with the troops.
However, it was not the drink that most viewers were interested in, it was the elegant cream dress sported by Scott that they wanted to know about.
One tweeted her to ask: “Where is your cream dress from?”
And another hailed her as “the Queen of Football Focus”.
Scott enjoyed a night out celebrating with fellow England legend Leah Williamson earlier this week after her pal was awarded her OBE by Prince William.

Meanwhile, The Sun revealed that the 38-year-old Football Focus host is dating pop star Jess Glynne.
The superstar singer and the ex-England and Arsenal footy ace have been quietly seeing each other for the past two months.
The couple have enjoyed a series of dates before and after the Women’s World Cup.
Then, on Tuesday night, they partied alongside David and Victoria Beckham at their exclusive Netflix documentary premiere after-party at The Twenty Two in West London.
The 33-year-old Glynne and Scott were pictured together side-by-side in July watching the tennis at Wimbledon and were later seen enjoying a boozy pub lunch in North West London just before the Women’s World Cup in August.

They then stayed in contact as Alex travelled to Australia to cover the tournament for the BBC — before they met up again in London on her return.
Glynne is the only British female solo artist to achieve seven UK No 1 singles, while former Lioness Alex also co-hosts the One Show on BBC away from her sporting punditry.

Ten months in and already the London-born presenter has been constantly in demand.
She flew to Australia reporting on the Women’s World Cup, Monaco for the Europa League draw and even hit up the Grammys, Baftas and Brit Awards red carpets.
She’s graced the front covers of mags such as Grazia and Stylist and in her rare downtime holidays in Ibiza.
Today, football fans know the former professional footballer as a knowledgeable pundit on BBC and Sky Sports.

    The beautiful game
YET Scott made history as the first female pundit on Sky Sports Super Sunday and was the first female to commentate for the BBC at a Men’s World Cup.
She has said football – and most importantly Arsenal – is in her blood, having signed for the Gunners in 1992 at the age of eight.
Throughout her 26-year career, the 38-year-old played mostly for Arsenal in the Women’s Super League.

She has said the sport was her ticket “to get on a plane and go to China” and that football allowed her to learn things about the world.

Scott retired from the game in 2018 aged 34 after a glittering career which included playing in the squad for the 2012 London Olympics.
    Life after football
IN 2016, she appeared on Bear Grylls’ ITV show, Mission Survive, which she won.
And she said it was appearing on the show that ignited “a spark” about a world outside football and being ready for the “next chapter”.
Scott had already established her media career while still playing football, appearing on programmes such as Soccer AM with other minor roles at BBC Sport, BT Sport and Sky Sports.
She also graduated with a degree in Professional Sports Writing and Broadcasting from Staffordshire University while playing for Arsenal.
She wrote a weekly women’s football column in the Morning Star newspaper and a column in The Independent during the 2014 World Cup.
Today, Scott is a broadcaster with Match of the Day and Sky Sports.
Outside of sports, she has participated in the ancestry research programme Who Do You Think You Are?
In September 2019, she was a contestant on the 17th series of Strictly Come Dancing, paired with Neil Jones. The couple came fifth in the competition.

    Overcoming adversity
IN 2022, Scott published her memoir “How (Not) To Be Strong” – it went on to become a Sunday Times bestseller.
She candidly revealed she was beaten with a belt and talked honestly about the fear and terror she and her mum lived in lived with her now-estranged father.
She said in an emotionally-charged interview on the BBC Women’s Hour Radio show that “all that money will go to help women”, declaring her income from the book sales would go to the women’s aid charity Refuge.
Scott revealed to Steven Bartlett on his YouTube channel “The Diary of a CEO” that she had a speech impediment growing up and sought help with speech therapy.
As a child growing up in a house where she witnessed domestic abuse, she disclosed it was easier not to speak – and that her mum didn’t know she had a problem.
She said that even today there are certain things she can’t say such as cinnamon: “I have to re-word things or memorise scripts so I know that word coming up.”
Scott also said on the Steven Bartlett podcast that as a result of falling into a daily pattern of drinking alcohol, she sought therapy.

She puts her daily drinking habit in part down to the abuse she has received from social media trolls.
Nowadays Scott keeps her private life just that – yet she does say she loves holidaying on her own and regularly jets off to Portugal to walk in nature.
    Love life
WHILE she will only say she is “dating” in her memoir, she revealed that she and team-mate Kelly Smith shared a house.
The former couple were team-mates in America when they played for the Boston Breakers.
They were together from 2005 to 2013… Scott said she fell “madly and deeply in love” with Kelly.
Yet today Scott has not explicitly labelled her sexuality and has said she has been in relationships with both men and women.
Currently, Scott is in a relationship with musician Jess Glynne.
The Sun revealed the pair have been secretly dating for two months.
On Tuesday night, the couple partied alongside David and Victoria Beckham at their exclusive Netflix documentary premiere after-party at The Twenty Two in West London.
A friend said: “Alex and Jess have been a slow burn and they didn’t want to rush things or go public too soon.

“But they’re officially an item now and seem really happy. They are both strong, independent women with a shared passion and respect of their respective careers, supporting one another from the sidelines.
“It’s still early days for them, but they’ve met one another’s mates and everyone is super-happy for them.”
At the 2022 World Cup, seven European nations announced they were asking their captains not to wear the pro-LGBTQ+ One Love armband.
Scott wore the armband while reporting on the England vs Iran match on November 21 – despite the threat of sporting sanctions from Fifa.
    High honours
SHE was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to football, taking her mum, grandmother and niece to her investiture at Buckingham Palace.
Scott is a brand in her own right with paid associations with major names from jewellery brand Pandora to Garnier UK.
Financial boffins are fuzzy when it comes to her net worth, citing it as somewhere between £1million and £4m.

This year she was even awarded an Honorary Fellowship for invaluable contribution to the world of sport, social purpose and inclusion by Queen Mary University of London.

The trio also wore Pudsey Bear lapel pins to mark the TV fundraiser, which is held next month.
Earlier this month England’s Lionesses were understood to be seeking around £100,000 each in bonuses had they won the World Cup Down Under.
After losing 1-0 to Spain in the final, they were willing to accept half that amount.
According to the Mail, players were set for “crunch talks” with FA chiefs.
    READ MORE FOOTBALL NEWS
They claim that players are “aware” of their possible actions and could choose to press on with the “nuclear option” of ceasing all commercial work for the FA.
It’s even claimed that they could refuse to play until a resolution is reached, although this option has “not yet been directly suggested”.
England’s pay from the FA is currently negotiated before or after each tournament – although players want more “clarity” moving forward.
This cash pot comes from prize money and commercial revenue received by the FA for the players’ performances.

Prior to the women’s World Cup, the FA imposed commercial restrictions on their own players.
This was because chiefs were concerned that individual player deals could upset their own.

However, in the heat of the moment, the Spanish forward dropped a major F-bomb.
Player-of-the-match Garcia boomed into the microphone: “I’m so f***ing tired.”
She then continued: “It was a tough, tough match, we fought and we must rest for Friday when we have a match so we need to be ready.”

But before the Beeb’s Jo Currie asked her next question, she interjected: “Apologies for any slip of the language there.”
The cameras then cut back to presenter Alex Scott, Fara Williams and Ellen White laughing under their umbrellas pitchside at Villa Park.
Scott added: “First interview live on BBC and that happens.”
However, those watching on could not get enough of the expletive from “legend” Garcia.

And a final user referenced Mary Earps’ iconic “f*** off” during the Women’s World Cup and commented: “Lucia Garcia saying the F-word on BBC2 is probably my favourite thing since…”
Villa wore their controversial ‘wet’ home kit for the WSL clash and were reduced to ten players when Kirsty Hanson saw red on 74 minutes.
Just two minutes later, though, Rachel Daly fired the hosts ahead before Garcia’s sweet finish on 79 minutes.
Then Rachel Williams headed in a 92nd-minute winner for the Red Devils in dramatic scenes. More

Speaking on the BBC podcast, the Newcastle star said: “Where’s Michail? Has he run away after his shambles of a performance?
“If he’d have said that statement and [West Ham] had gone and beat Liverpool, Michail would be sitting here tonight under any circumstances.
“The fact he made that prediction, had no goals, no assists or shots on target, no aerial duels won, lost the ball 10 times, played 75 minutes before being dragged, for me personally I wouldn’t show my face either!”
Speaking about West Ham’s Premier League season in a previous episode, Antonio said: “I’m backing myself over Liverpool. You know what, I think we are going to finish higher than Liverpool this season. I’m putting it out there.”
