Arsenal blow as Ajax star Noussair Mazraoui ‘completes Bayern Munich medical after agreeing free transfer terms’

MIKEL ARTETA has been dealt a blow in his pursuit of Noussair Mazraoui after the Ajax star reportedly “completed” a Bayern Munich medical. Arsenal were said to be keen on recruiting the out of contract right-back to provide competition to Takehiro Tomiyasu.

But after talks with Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and CEO Oliver Kahn, Mazraoui has decided to link up with the Bundesliga champions.
The 24-year-old has now successfully completed his medical with the club, according to German outlet Bild.
And while he is yet to officially put pen to paper, terms between Bayern and Mazraoui are fully agreed.
An official announcement is expecting in the coming days, forcing Arsenal to pursue alternative targets.

Mazraoui revealed back in January that he was likely to leave Ajax in the summer – joining Erik ten Hag in walking out the door.
That had alerted the Gunners to the possibility of signing the Moroccan international.
Barcelona were also reportedly keen on adding Mazraoui to their ranks.

Further reports had claimed Ten Hag was eager to bring Mazraoui with him to Ajax, but he is now targeting Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries instead after missing out on the Moroccan.
Mazraoui has played 33 times in all competitions this season, chipping in with five goals and four assists from right-back.

Manchester United and Barcelona would likely be among the frontrunners for Lewandowski’s signature, especially if Bayern landed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

ARSENAL are keen on bringing Marcel Sabitzer to the club in a deal that could be worth £13million according to Bild. The Bayern Munich midfielder arrived at the Bundesliga champions last summer from RB Leipzig but has only started 23 per cent of their league matches.

Therefore, he could be made available for a transfer to the Gunners but they may face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid.
He has another three years on his contract at the Allianz Arena but Bayern could allow him to leave much sooner.

BARCELONA are waiting for Erling Haaland’s response to their offer before moving ahead with a deal for Robert Lewandowski, according to reports.The Catalan giants are concerned they may not be able to afford Borussia Dortmund star Haaland.

But they have still put a proposal forward to the 21-year-old Norwegian and are awaiting a reply from the superstar striker – who has a £64million release clause.
According to Sport, a rejection from Haaland would see Barcelona go “full steam ahead” in pursuit of Bayern Munich marksman Lewandowski.
The Polish forward’s contract with the Bundesliga champions expires in the summer of 2023.
