Cancelo has become disruptive amongst the Man City squad and the club are willing to let him leave, according to the Daily Mail.
The report suggests that the Citizens have approved a loan move to Bayern Munich, and the club will have the option to buy him for £61million at the end of the season.
However, with his exit nearing, the Manchester club will have to find a replacement or risk being short at the back.
Left-back options at the club were already short, with centre-back Nathan Ake filling in at times.

Chilwell has not played in the Premier League since picking up a hamstring injury in October.
However, manager Graham Potter is expecting him to be back for the Blues’ match against Fulham on February 3.
Chelsea will need to axe some players from their squad following the heavy investment since last summer.
And this could lead to a potential sale of Chilwell if the club received an acceptable offer from City. More

People are just realising why Joao Cancelo wears No7 at Man City… but he’s set to be denied number at Bayern Munich

The versatile full-back, though, won’t get to extend a rather strange tradition that has seen him wear a “special” shirt number usually reserved for attacking players.
That is because former Arsenal ace Serge Gnabry has been wearing it for years at the Allianz Arena.
The Portugal international has been choosing the No7 jersey throughout most of his career because of his mum.
The 28-year-old revealed recently that it is mother’s favourite number and it also marks the day she was born.

Cancelo told City’s official website during pre-season: “This is a special number for me.
“It’s my mother’s birthday and it’s also her favourite number.
“I decided to choose this number because I think it brings me luck and I hope it brings luck to the team too, so this year we can win many titles.”
Cancelo wore the No7 shirt at Valencia and Inter Milan before joining Juventus in 2018.

That was the same year that saw Cristiano Ronaldo switching Real Madrid for Juve, and there was no way CR7 would be denied his favourite number.
Cancelo moved to City a year later and was initially allocated the No27 shirt because Raheem Sterling already occupied his top preference.
However, the Portuguese ace got what he wanted last summer after Sterling left for Chelsea. More

Joao Cancelo lands in Munich to complete loan transfer with £62m option to buy after falling down Man City pecking order

BAYERN MUNICH have sealed a shock swoop for Manchester City’s unsettled defender Joao Cancelo – who has landed in Germany to complete his medical.Sunsport revealed last week that several clubs were monitoring the former Juventus star’s situation after he lost his place at the Etihad.

AC Milan were among them but Bayern made significant progress over the weekend.
And they secured the Portugal international’s services on an initial loan deal on Monday.
Cancelo arrived in Munich this afternoon and will undergo a medical this evening.
SunSport understands the shock deal includes an option to buy the 28-year-old at the end of the season for around £61.5 million.

That would see the English champs make a small profit on the player they signed in a £60m deal three-and-a-half years ago.
Even so, it would still be a surprise move for Man City given their well-documented problems in the full-back areas.
Yet, his career at City has stalled since he returned from the World Cup last month.
He started the defeats against Southampton and Man Utd but was an unused sub in the two games which followed.

His only other start since the restart was the win at Chelsea – but he was hauled off at half-time by Pep Guardiola.
The Etihad boss has opted to use youngster Rico Lewis and centre-back Nathan Ake as his full-backs recently.
He was an unused sub in the FA Cup win over Arsenal on Friday night and post match Guardiola referred to him as ‘Mr Cancelo’ – hinting at a possible problem.
Cancelo only signed a contract extension with City 12 months ago and is currently tied to the club until summer 2027.
Fellow full-back Kyle Walker has also found himself marginalised this season – and that has seen Turkish giants Fenerbahce show an interest.
Cancelo is believed to have brought the offer from Bayern to City’s attention and the champions decided to listen.

They are aware he wants to play more regularly and felt that may not happen for the remainder of the season at the Etihad.
Guardiola has been utilising a different style and formation recently and does not feel Cancelo’s game is best suited to it.
The speed of Rico Lewis’ emergence has taken Guardiola by surprise and gives him valuable cover in the full-back area.

Whlle City’s only recognised left-back is Spanish youngster Sergio Gomez, both Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte can fill in there.

They have had to dive into the January market after Manuel Neuer broke his leg on a skiing trip last month.
With negotiations over Sommer stalling, Bayern turned to Nice to enquire over Schmeichel, according to Foot Mercato.
The Danish keeper has only been in France since August after his shock departure from Leicester City.
He has been a regular with Nice ever since his transfer but they reportedly allowed Bayern to begin negotiations.

But the deal never materialised with Sommer successfully negotiating his exit from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Manchester United had been repeatedly linked to Sommer as they ponder the future of David de Gea and their no.1 jersey.

Michelle Walder, chair of Brighton’s women’s team added: “Jens was our number one target from the start, and the process was similar to the one we recently undertook when appointing Roberto De Zerbi as men’s head coach.
“He has great experience at the very top level of women’s football in Europe: winning the Bundesliga in 2021 at Bayern Munich.
“He consistently finished in the top two during his three seasons there and guided them to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2021.”

The interim Seagulls manager led the team to two wins and a draw in four games across all competitions.
Walder added: “The excellent results during Amy’s time as interim coach and having the winter break took some of the time pressure off us, and allowed us to go through a thorough process which reaffirmed Jens as our first choice.
Technical director David Weir added: “Amy, Perry (Northeast) and the staff have done an excellent job over the interim period

“We will also have our new women’s and girls’ managing director Zoe Johnson, who is joining us from Sheffield United, starting with us early in the New Year.
“Both appointments underline our chairman Tony Bloom’s and the club’s commitment to women’s football.” More
