Barcelona launch crackdown on Man Utd fans for Europa League clash with English IP addresses banned and no child tickets

Last season Eintracht Frankfurt’s fans are estimated to have bought 30,000 tickets to the Europa League clash at the Nou CampCredit: AFP
The German club’s fans managed to get their hands on a reported 30,000 tickets for the fixture at the Nou Camp, way more than their allocation.
This led to Barcelona’s home leg feeling a lot more like an away fixture due to the atmosphere created by the Frankfurt supporters.
To stop this from happening for the Europa League tie against the Red Devils, the Spanish club have implemented measures to reduce the risk.
The fixture has been deemed as high-risk by the Anti-Violence Commission, which has seen the measures come into action.

The club has created an internal transversal committee which will block computers with an IP address coming from England from buying tickets.
It has also reduced the number of tickets an individual can purchase from six to four.
The fixture will also not have child tickets available.
Tour operators have also been hit as only 1,000 tickets will be sold to them to pass on to customers.

On the day, there will be random checks on fans, and those who have received a seat from a season ticket holder will have to have the correct form to hand.

The Red Devils are estimated to have a ticket allocation of 4,700 for the fixture at the 99,354-seater Nou Camp stadium. More

People are only just realising why Lionel Messi wears No30 shirt after being forced to go back to it after PSG transfer

DURING his time at Barcelona, Lionel Messi’s No10 jersey became absolutely iconic.Arguably no-one has worn the number in more esteem than the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

However, after leaving Barcelona, Messi no longer dons the ’10’ except for when he plays for Argentina.
Instead, Messi sports the No30 at Paris Saint-Germain, with team-mate Neymar occupying the No10.
It was even reported Neymar offered to let Messi have the shirt, but the 35-year-old turned it down.
So why does Messi really wear the No30 now?
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Well, it turns out he wears it for sentimental reasons.
When a fresh-faced Messi made his Barcelona debut in 2004, he sported the No30 on his back.
Messi carried on wearing the number for the next two seasons, also wearing the No19 before inheriting Ronaldinho’s No10 in 2008.
With the No10 unavailable in the French capital, Messi went back to the No30, believing it would bring him luck.

But while he wears the No30 in the league, it would be incorrect to say he has never worn the ’10’ for PSG.
Last year, Messi featured in the Coupe de France which maintains a tradition whereby all starting players must wear numbers 1-11 when reaching the knockout stages.
PSG had one such game against Nice, with Messi starting and consequently wearing the No10 shirt while Neymar was absent.
However, there were added complications with Messi taking the No30.
Ligue 1 rules dictate the No30 is reserved for goalkeepers, meaning PSG had to be granted special permission from league chiefs in order for Messi to take the number.
But ultimately fans did not seem to care about the swap, with it selling out in HALF AN HOUR after he completed his move to the Parisiens.
A number of major football stars around the world also wear shirt numbers some may consider odd. More

That sets up an exciting El Clasico between the two sworn enemies amid an intense LaLiga battle – with Los Blancos only five points behind Xavi’s leaders.
But British fans may not be able to watch it as no TV channel on these shores has bought the rights to the Copa del Rey.
That is why no one got to see the exciting Madrid derby, in which Real equalised in the final few minutes and turned the game on its head during extra-time with a 3-1 win.
This comes as a major surprise considering that Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime and Viaplay combined cost more than £1,000 per year.

The two rivals have faced off twice already this season and are scheduled to meet once more in LaLiga.
Real beat Barcelona 3-1 in the league back in October at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo led Carlo Ancelotti’s side to a comfortable victory with Ferran Torres scoring a consolation goal.
But the Blaugrana returned the favour with the same score three weeks ago in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Barcelona have attempt to register Gavi as first-team player REJECTED by LaLiga and are now banned from adding to squad

BARCELONA’S attempt to register wonderkid Gavi as a first-team player has been REJECTED by LaLiga – and the Spanish giants are banned from adding to their squad.Gavi, 18, is currently listed as an academy player despite being a full Spain international.

The midfielder signed a new contract in September and Barca thought it followed LaLiga’s criteria for a first-team player.
And so they were confident their request to register Gavi would go through when they sent over the documentation.
But according to The Athletic, Barca’s attempt to register the La Masia wonderkid was turned down.
Barca are now unable to register any new contracts on their wage bill due to LaLiga’s salary caps.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
The Nou Camp club had thought the departures of Memphis Depay and Gerard Pique would allow them to register Gavi.
Barca have a negative balance, which is largely due to their Champions League exit in the group stages.
And so LaLiga did not validate Gavi’s extension.
Barca will have to significantly reduce their wage bill in summer, or find new sponsorships to register contracts.

They will also not be able to call upon last summer’s tricks and pull any more economic levers.
It allowed Barca to register players but this avenue has been stopped after LaLiga changed its rules to reduce their impact on the salary limit calculation.
Barca have been saving the No6 in their squad for Gavi since last summer.
They wanted to hand Gavi the iconic shirt worn by current manager Xavi.
But he will have to stick with the No30 as he cannot wear a squad number below 25 due to technically still being an academy player.
Defender Ronald Araujo is in the same situation as Gavi.
He agreed to a contract extension until 2026 but is still not registered with LaLiga as a first-team player. More
