PSG wanted Lionel Messi transfer during Barcelona row and thought ‘is it f***ing possible?’, admits chief Leonardo

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has revealed the club were considering making a move to sign Lionel Messi this summer.
The 51-year-old has stated the club’s interest in the Barcelona star was peaked when he handed in a transfer request at the Nou Camp.

Manchester City were believed to be favourites to land the 33-year-old should the Blaugrana have allowed him to leave.

But the LaLiga side were demanding any potential suitors to stump up £630million after stating Messi was not allowed to depart for free.
This led the six-time Ballon d’Or winner to perform a U-turn on his future, with the player to now see out the final year of his contract in Catalonia.

And PSG chief Leonardo has declared Les Parisiens weighed up bringing the Argentine international to France, comparing the deal to when they signed David Beckham.
Speaking to Telefoot via Goal about whether the Ligue 1 outfit were keen, he said: “Today when you think about the financial situation it’s complicated.
“When we are told Messi wants to leave, we are tempted.
“You say to yourself, will it be f***ing possible?

“They are players completely out of any discussion.

    3

“I don’t know, David Beckham ended up at Paris Saint-Germain, Messi ending up in Paris? I don’t know.
“It’s football, in the end, everyone’s sitting at the table, everyone knows everything, and it’s moving forward.”
It has now been said that Messi will not decide on his long-term future until the next Barca president is announced.

Barcelona star Arturo Vidal ‘demands £5.3m payoff to leave’ after being made to train alone ahead of transfer

ARTURO VIDAL wants Barcelona to pay him for the remaining year on his contract before he leaves the club, according to reports.
The Chilean midfielder is closing in on a move to Inter Milan after being told he does not fit into the plans of new Barca boss Ronald Koeman.

But according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vidal is demanding Barcelona first pay him the £5.3million he would be due if he saw out his contract, which expires in 2021.
Although Vidal’s request has delayed a move to Inter, boss Antonio Conte is confident the deal will be completed.
The 33-year-old will sign a two-year contract at the San Siro, with the option of a third.
However, Inter have made it clear they will not pay a transfer fee for Vidal after discovering he has been frozen out by Koeman.

Further discussions with Barcelona are expected to take place tomorrow in an effort to speed up his departure.
Vidal also believes he is owed an additional £2.1million in bonuses which could hold up any agreement.
A move to Inter would see Vidal reunite with Conte, who has made no secret of his desire to work with the mohawked midfielder again following their time together at Juventus.
Provided negotiations are concluded swiftly, Vidal is expected to complete his medical with the Nerazzurri some time next week.

Vidal looks set to be the latest casualty of the Barcelona rebuilding job, following the departure of Ivan Rakitic last week, while Luis Suarez is also on the chopping block.
Suarez and Vidal trained away from the rest of the first-team squad yesterday, with the Uruguayan reportedly closing in on a move to Juventus.
One man who won’t be leaving the Camp Nou this summer is Lionel Messi, after the Argentine completed a dramatic transfer U-turn by announcing he would be staying at Barcelona.

Juventus will aim to bring back ex-Chelsea flop Alvaro Morata instead of Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, claims agent

JUVENTUS want to bring back Alvaro Morata instead of signing Luis Suarez, according to an agent.
Giovanni Branchini claims ex-Chelsea flop Morata is on the radar ahead of a rumoured move for Barcelona outcast Suarez.

Branchini told Radio Deejay: “I don’t think Juve’s next centre-forward will be Moise Kean, Suarez, Edin Dzeko or Edinson Cavani.
“I believe Juve will aim to bring back Morata.”
The Old Lady are on the hunt for a new striker with another former Blues ace Gonzalo Higuain set for the exit.

Higuain has been linked with a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami after new Bianconeri boss Andrea Pirlo revealed his contract will be terminated.

And Uruguayan Suarez was thought to be the frontrunner to replace him in Turin.
Reports in Europe suggest Suarez has agreed personal terms on a two-year deal worth £256,000 a week.
And he has even reportedly phoned Juve ace Giorgio Chiellini to clear the air after the 2014 World Cup bite incident.
But another option for Pirlo is to seal the return of Morata from Atletico Madrid.

    4

The Spanish striker bagged 27 goals and 18 assists in 93 appearances in all competitions across a two-year spell at Juve that ended in 2016.
Morata was bought back by Real Madrid before being sold to Chelsea a year later but has failed to rediscover the scintillating form he showed in Italy.
Reports in Spain suggest Atleti will want at least £71million for their striker if he is to make a sensational return to the Allianz Stadium.

Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov appears to confirm Georginio Wijnaldum transfer from Liverpool is on

BARCELONA icon Hristo Stoichkov has dubbed Georginio Wijnaldum “the next No8” of the LaLiga giants.
The Dutch midfielder has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou, with just a year left on his Liverpool contract.

    1

Reports suggest personal terms have been agreed between the player and Barcelona.
There is not said to be any movement in negotiations over a transfer fee with the Premier League champions.
On Saturday night, however, Stoichkov appeared to welcome Wijnaldum to his old side.

Accompanying an Instagram photo of himself with the 29-year-old, he wrote: “The next number-8 of my dear Barca.”

Stoichkov, 54, spent seven years with the Catalan club over two spells in the 1990s.
He won five LaLiga titles and a European Cup as well as the 1994 Ballon d’Or.
New Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is thought to have enjoyed a good relationship with Wijnaldum during his time as Netherlands boss.
The Blaugrana are hoping to improve their squad after the expected sales of Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal, following Ivan Rakitic out the exit door.

And it is said a £17.7million bid may be enough to tempt Liverpool into a sale, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly happy to accept Wijnaldum’s departure if he wants a new challenge.
The Reds could use the transfer as a means to free up space for Thiago Alcantara.
Touted as a long-term target for a £27m move from Bayern Munich, the Spaniard’s future remains far from certain amid rival interest from Manchester United.

Lionel Messi urged to stay at Barcelona by team-mate Antoine Griezmann after incredible transfer U-turn

Messi revealed he will STAY at the Nou Camp on Friday after a huge transfer saga.

The 33-year-old superstar previously told club bosses he wanted to leave sparking mass hysteria in the football world.
But the club captain had a change of heart after his kids burst into tears and a costly legal battle over the release clause in his contract looked to be the only way out.
And Barca team-mate Griezmann has joined the voices backing Messi to continue in Catalonia.

Griezmann told M6: “We are trying to stay updated with the issue, but it is between him and the club.

“We only hope that he stays.
“I am trying to stay focused on the national team and prepare well for the next two games.
“We have heard a little of everything but we don’t know anything else about all this affair.”
The Barca pair were previously hit with reports of a training ground bust-up and Griezmann put their relationship under the microscope last year after admitting Messi barely speaks to him.

Tottenham transfer blow as Barcelona block Jose Mourinho’s move for Lucas De Vega after £1.8m bid rejected

TOTTENHAM have reportedly pulled out of the race for Lucas de Vega after Barcelona rejected a £1.8million bid.
The 20-year-old impressed on loan at Cartagena last season and has been eyed for a regular spot in the Catalans’ B team.

Jose Mourinho had also picked up on de Vega’s ability and tested the water with a bid in the week.
However, according to Sport, Barcelona have asked for around double the £1.8m offered – in the knowledge Spurs would pull out of the deal.
Barcelona have struggled to keep their top prospects in recent years with Manchester United newboy Marc Jurado and Instagram-famous midfielder Xavi Simons just two youngsters to leave.
La Masia did send teen sensation Ansu Fati to the first-team last year but star talents have been few and far between lately, contributing to the angst around the crisis club.

With next season’s third-tier Segunda B season coming ahead of a rejigging of the Spanish lower-league system, the club are desperate for Barcelona B to achieve promotion.
Therefore coach Garcia Pimienta has been allowed to keep de Vega and make him a focal point of the Blaugrana reserves.

Tottenham get their season underway at home to Everton on Sunday, September 13 with four new signings under their belt.
Joe Hart, Matt Doherty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have all signed up, plus Wigan youngster Alfie Devine.

Milan Skriniar has reportedly been identified as a fifth summer buy.
The Inter Milan centre-back could replace Juan Foyth after the Argentine was transfer-listed by Mourinho, along with Serge Aurier and Tanguy Ndombele.

Messi breaks social media silence with photo of his boys after revealing they cried at thought of his Barcelona transfer

LIONEL MESSI has broken his social media silence by posting a picture of his three boys.
It comes after Messi, 33, confirmed he would be staying at Barcelona, having pushed to leave this summer following 16 seasons at the Nou Camp.

    2

Lionel Messi announced he will stay at Barcelona this season

The Argentine superstar opened up about about the transfer saga which sparked a “brutal drama” in the Messi household because the family did not want to leave their home.
Messi has three sons with wife Antonela Roccuzzo, Ciro, two, Mateo, aged four, and Thiago, aged seven.
And in his first social media post since the entire saga began, the forward uploaded a picture of his kids.
The news their dad wanted to leave the Spanish giants came as a devastating reveal for the brothers, who cried at the thought of him moving elsewhere.

Speaking to Goal, Messi said: “When I communicated my wish to leave to my wife and children, it was a brutal drama.
“The whole family began crying, my children did not want to leave Barcelona, nor did they want to change schools.
“But I looked further afield and I want to compete at the highest level, win titles, compete in the Champions League.
“You can win or lose in it, because it is very difficult, but you have to compete.

“Mateo is still little and he doesn’t realise what it means to go somewhere else and make your life a few years elsewhere.
“Thiago, he is older. He heard something on TV and found out something and asked.
“I didn’t want him to know anything about being forced to leave, to have to live in a new school, or make new friends.
“He cried to me and said ‘let’s not go’. I repeat that it was hard, really.
“It was understandable. It happened to me. It is very difficult to make a decision.
“I love Barcelona and I’m not going to find a better place than here anywhere.
“Still, I have the right to decide. I was going to look for new goals and new challenges. And tomorrow I could go back, because here in Barcelona I have everything.

    2

“My son, my family, they grew up here and are from here. There was nothing wrong with wanting to leave.
“I needed it, the club needed it and it was good for everyone.”
Having gone on strike previously to miss training, Messi is still yet to link up with new manager Ronald Koeman.
According to TyC Sports, Messi has not had a Covid-19 test, which prohibits him from linking up with his team-mates.
He is expected to return on Monday – when he will have had his results back
It will allow him to join up with Barca for the first time since it was revealed he wanted to force a transfer away.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez ordered to train alone by Ronald Koeman despite risk of upsetting best mate Lionel Messi

BARCELONA have told Luis Suarez to train alone with a physio ahead of a rumoured move to Juventus.
ESPN reports new boss Ronald Koeman made the call despite the risk of upsetting Suarez’s best mate and club skipper Lionel Messi.

Messi made a sensational U-turn and announced he would STAY at Barcelona on Friday, despite previously making official his desire to leave the Catalan giants.
The 33-year-old icon was seeking a new challenge but had a rethink after Barca stood firm and a costly legal battle over his release clause loomed.
Uruguayan Suarez, 33, got the chop from Koeman with the former Holland boss suggesting he was not part of his Nou Camp overhaul.

The former Liverpool man was reportedly ‘very upset’ after a brutal one-minute phone call virtually ended his Blaugrana career.

European rivals Juventus are hoping to poach Suarez on a free transfer.
The Old Lady are reportedly aiming to seal a bargain transfer by only paying Barca performance-related bonuses for Suarez’s signature.
Messi and Suarez are close pals and the rash treatment of his colleague is not believed to have sat well with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Suarez was spotted visiting Messi’s home with his family on Friday in what could have been an emotional farewell.
