Chelsea and Man Utd target wonderkid ‘with greatest name in history’ but Brazilian, 16, has £52m transfer release clause

MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea have joined the bidding war for Brazilian wonderkid Messinho.Palmeiras starlet Estevao Willian, who earned the “greatest name in history” thanks to his love for Lionel Messi as well as his performances, has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest hitters.
Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on Palmeiras wonderkid Messinho
The 16-year-old has been linked with Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea and United have joined the transfer war for the winger’s signature.
However, the Blues and the Red Devils will have to cough up some heavy cash once more as Messinho – who also goes simply as Estevao – carries a €60million (£52m) release clause.
The forward signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras in April with a hefty asking price as his agent Andre Curry has claimed his client could win the Ballon d’Or one day.

The rising star is turning heads in the ongoing Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia with three goals and four assists in four games for Brazil.
Chelsea and United, though, are facing intense competition with Real contacting Palmeiras on Wednesday.
Plus, a representative close to Messinho as well as Los Blancos star Vinicius Junior has offered to work as an intermediary.
A bid will also prove to be tough for the West Londoners and United as the player has previously revealed his desire to play for Barcelona and emulate his idol Messi’s success at the Nou Camp.

PSG recently made a €40m (£35m) offer which quickly rose to €50m (£43m).
However, Messinho is waiting for a bid from Barca as he is adamant he prefers the Catalan giants.
But the player will not be able to move abroad until he turns 18 due to Brazilian law.
However, Messinho’s bidders can seal a deal that will see him making the move in two years when he becomes an adult, just like Real did with his Palmeiras team-mate Endrick who is currently 17.
Estevao has yet to make his senior debut for the Brazilian giants but great things are expected from him, which is why he signed a sponsorship deal with Nike at the tender age of 10. More

Football saved my life after a prison sentence at 19, I was a plasterer and bricklayer before making it, says Ian Wright

But Wright, who turned 60 this month, is now working hard to ensure football helps prison inmates forge a new path on the outside.
Ex-Arsenal chairman David Dein set up the Twinning Project in October 2018, linking football clubs and prisons to provide education and support.
Dein’s first recruit was Wright, who he signed for the Gunners from Crystal Palace for a then club record £2.5million fee in 1991.
There are now 73 English clubs partnered to local jails.

Wright has previously recalled how he broke down in tears after being put in a cell in Chelmsford Prison in 1982 for non-payment of driving fines.
He later became a plasterer and bricklayer before his football career took off.
During a visit yesterday to Pentonville Prison — a mile’s walk from the Emirates Stadium — with Dein and Justice Minister Edward Argar, he took part in a graduation ceremony for 15 inmates who had completed an FA coaching qualification alongside the Arsenal Foundation.
Wright said: “Football saved my life but people are still in two minds about giving an offender a chance.

“By the time I got my opportunity at Palace at 22, I was ready because I clawed myself away from the bad elements in my life, doing silly things.
“People say the straight and narrow, it’s not straight and narrow, it’s twisty, it’s a nightmare, storms and hurricanes. What I would say to them now is: ‘You’re choosing to go on this path. It’s not easy but you have to stick with it’.”
Asked if Wright’s conviction made him think twice about signing him 32 years ago, Dein said: “No.
“He served his time. Going to prison is the punishment, losing your job and self-respect. Being in prison should be for rehabilitation.” More

Cotcher has become one of the most sought after young talents in the country after starring for Sunderland’s youth side.
The forward scored nine goals in 25 games for Sunderland’s under-18s and also featured in the FA Youth Cup for the Championship side.
Cotcher, who can play up front or out wide was an unused substitute for the Sunderland first team in their third round FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury last season.
He made his Arsenal under-18s debut against Middlesbrough in October and scored and assisted for the 18s in a game against Crystal Palace.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
During his training session with the first team yesterday, Cotcher was given a special training kit to indicate he was a trialist.
Arsenal have not yet made a decision on signing the youngster.
If Arsenal do opt to sign the forward after his trial, they will be required to go to a tribunal to decide on the fee owed to Sunderland for his services.
Arsenal are joined in the race to sign Cotcher by Scottish giants Rangers.

If Rangers were to win the race to sign Cotcher, they would be required to pay a significantly lower fee than Arsenal owing to playing in a different league system to Sunderland.
Cotcher could also still sign for Sunderland on a scholarship deal but is understood to be interested in moving elsewhere.
Brighton have also expressed an interest in signing the youngster and have an excellent track record on bringing young players into their first team. More

Toney is training again while serving the remainder of an eight month ban he received in May for breaking rules on betting.
And as he warms up for a long-awaited return in January, the Premier League’s big clubs in the Capital are starting to circle.
Chelsea and Arsenal have long-established interest in Toney, 27, who scored 21 goals for The Bees before copping his ban towards the end of last season.
But insiders at Stamford Bridge are also convinced that Tottenham are lining up a bid to buy Toney as a replacement for Harry Kane.

Spurs have played down speculation linking them to Toney, claiming they are more focused on adding defensive cover in the new year.
But sources at Stamford Bridge are not convinced and are preparing to go head-to-head with their city neighbours in the transfer market.
Kane quit Spurs for German giants Bayern Munich in the summer and he hasn’t been directly replaced despite the £47.5 million signing of forward Brennan Johnson.
Arsenal have been tracking Toney for some time to boost their forward line as they bid to push defending champions Manchester City for the Premier League title.

However, the North Londoners are already planning ahead and are set to seal the goalkeeper’s future at the Emirates at the turn of the year.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, a deal to complete the Spain international’s move in 2024 is “all guaranteed”.
The Premier League giants will complete the switch by triggering the 28-year-old’s £27million release clause.
Raya has already penned a “potential long-term contract” with Arsenal that comes into effect in June.
    Read More on Arsenal
Brentford have also accepted the structure of the deal due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
This poses as a major boost for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who rates his fellow Spaniard very highly.

So much so that Arteta established Raya as his new No1 almost immediately after his arrival at the Emirates last summer.
The Spanish tactician has received plenty of criticism for his decision to omit Aaron Ramsdale as his starting keeper.

A series of errors by Raya also fuelled protests from fans demanding the return of Ramsdale to the starting line-up.
However, Arteta doesn’t look set to budge any time soon now that the Spanish shot-stopper is ready to commit his future in North London.
That could force Ramsdale out of Arsenal as he will need consistent first-team football to seal an England call-up for the summer’s Euro 2024 finals in Germany. More

The Toffees could be forced into drastic sales as they fear a £300MILLION compensation claim.

That left Burnley, Leicester and Leeds preparing to sue, with a potential £100m for each club at stake if they win the case.

So apart from dropping into the drop zone with the points penalty, the Toffees could lose prized assets in the next transfer window.

And Prem giants are expected to circle for the Three Lions’ first-choice stopper, should Everton decide to cash in.
Meanwhile, Onana has reportedly been on the radar of at least four top-flight rivals.

But West Ham too showed interest over the summer – as a long-term replacement for Arsenal’s £105m buy Declan Rice.
As for Calvert-Lewin, the 26-year-old’s progress has been blighted by injury since earning 11 caps up to 2021.
But Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq have pondered offering the hitman a massive pay deal.
And aside from Prem clubs, Jose Mourinho has been considering Calvert-Lewin as a fill-in for injured Tammy Abraham. More

Arsenal legend William Gallas names Mikel Arteta’s biggest transfer ‘mistake’ saying ‘something is very wrong’

Mikel Arteta’s decision to buy him has raised eyebrows and Havertz is yet to convince critics on the pitch.
He has scored just one goal and managed the same disappointing number of assists in 19 games this season.
Gallas is not surprised the transfer has not worked out, telling Genting Casino: “I said at the beginning of the season that Havertz would struggle for Arsenal.
“I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but he is still struggling.

“I think it was always going to be difficult for Havertz to adapt to the way that Arsenal play and the way that Arteta wants to use him.
“I don’t think he was the type of player that Arsenal needed to sign in the summer.
“When you look at the squad, in my opinion, there were different types of players that they should have prioritised.
“It looks like it was a mistake to sign him.”

Despite his struggles, Havertz regularly starts for Germany and he bizarrely played at left-back for the first time ever in their 3-2 friendly loss to Turkey on Saturday.
Manager Julian Nagelsmann hinted that he could experiment with his position again.
Gallas, who played 142 times for Arsenal, said: “At 24-years-old, Havertz is playing as a left back four his country? Seriously? Something is very wrong.
“For me, to make this decision, it seems like Nagelsmann doesn’t respect Havertz as a player.
“I’m completely confused. I’m trying to think about it from the player’s point-of-view – this doesn’t look good.
“I don’t like this decision, this is a complete lack of respect from Nagelsmann.”

The midfielder went on to help Fernando Diniz’s side win their first ever Libertadores title earlier this month and that could finally clear the way for a move to England.
According to Canal do Nicola, Fulham could be the ones to land the Brazil international.
The Cottagers stole a march on their Premier League opponents and Andre could put pen to paper “in the coming days” after the international break.

However, this is not a done deal and United, Liverpool as well as Arsenal could come back for Andre.
Reports previously suggest the defensive midfielder verbally agreed to move to Anfield.
