Arsenal cult hero Nicklas Bendtner caught up in horror stabbing incident as video emerges

Collected a few crosses well under pressure and was alert and speedy with his distribution to get Arsenal moving.Jurrien Timber – 7Had the ball in the net and unlucky not to keep it that way as VAR intervened – eventually – to give offside on Mikel Merino in the build-up. A solid display.William Saliba – 8Had a real battle on his hand against another giant of a man in Taiwo Awoniyi, not that it bothered him too much. As always, he was up to the task without ever losing his cool.Gabriel Magalhaes – 7With Forest’s target man focused on Saliba, this was a fairly comfortable afternoon for Gabriel, who didn’t even have any decent set-pieces to attack.Riccardo Calafiori – 7Was a bit vulnerable on the counter in the early stages, perhaps showing his fitness levels are not there just yet after a lengthy spell out with injury. However, he regained his composure and was a rock defending crosses and set-pieces.Jorginho – 6A rare start and did his best to solidify things in midfield, but his needless yellow ultimately saw him subbed at half-time with Arteta not willing to take the risk.Martin Odegaard – 9My word, have Arsenal missed this man. Back in the team and back in the groove, dictating the tempo and providing that creative spark with fluidity and finesse.By the end, Forest’s players looked like they had been beaten to submission.Mikel Merino – 7With Jorginho sitting deeper, the Spaniard had the freedom to play the ‘Rice role’, roaming forward at will, and provided a real attacking intent, driving into the box.Bukayo Saka – 9Showed off his samba hips with some silky dancing between tackles in the box before thumping a stunning effort into the top corner.Forest left-back Alex Moreno had a torrid afternoon, especially after he let Saka cut inside again after the break to tee up Partey’s strike from distance.Gabriel Jesus – 6Still looking for just a third goal this calendar year. Gave his all and had a curling effort go narrowly wide in the first half, but it just isn’t happening for the Brazilian at the moment.A real chance missed to stake a claim in this starting XI.Leandro Trossard – 7Should have put Arsenal ahead inside the first two minutes but scuffed his close-range effort and saw another well saved by Matz Sels before the break.Despite hobbling off for Belgium in mid-week, he looked as sharp as ever.SUBSTHOMAS PARTEY (JORGINHO, 45) – 8Was only on the pitch seven minutes before curling a beauty into the far corner – an inspired substitution.OLEKSANDR ZINCHENKO (CALAFIORI, 67) – 6Did what was needed. Positioned himself for inverted passing lanes to get Arsenal out the back with Forest piling pressure on with time ticking away.ETHAN NWANERI (ODEGAARD, 82) – 8More minutes for this impressive academy talent and already has a trademark finish of curling into the far corner with his left foot. He almost pulled this off less than two minutes into coming on.Then, soon after, he slots in from Sterling’s cut-back for his first Prem goal. Memorable.RAHEEM STERLING (SAKA, 82) – 7Really needed to make a difference off the bench to get his campaign up and running, and he did, providing the assist for Nwaneri’s historic goal.JAKUB KIWIOR (TIMBER, 87) – N/A”But I can confirm that it’s me on the video – it’s hard to run away from.”New York police said Zinberg’s mother reported him after recognising him on TV news.Ex-Arsenal striker Bendtner shows off new look in shock appearance in Denmark World Cup 2022 squad announcement video He reportedly has a long criminal record as well as mental health issues.Mayor of New York Eric Adams said of the incident: “We walk past people every day that we know they do not have the ability to make the right decision to take care of themselves.”This is a problem that was created when we closed the psychiatric facilities many years ago. “We closed them without giving people the support that they deserve.”Bendtner spent nine seasons with Arsenal, scoring 45 goals in 171 games. He also played for Birmingham, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland as well as Juventus and Wolfsburg. He announced his retirement in June 2021 following a brief stint with Danish fourth-division side Tarnby FF. Why Arsenal fans may have to wait years to see Ethan Nwaneri regularly as Mikel Arteta hatches Bukayo Saka-style plan

IT IS the bulk, not the brains, that still has Mikel Arteta hesitant when it comes to Ethan Nwaneri.Arsenal academy product Nwaneri, 17, is in the Premier League’s history books as the competition’s youngest ever player – coming on as a 15-year-old sub at Brentford in September 2022.Ethan Nwaneri has been sensational for Arsenal in the Carabao Cup this season – here he celebrates one of his two goals in the win over BoltonCredit: GettyThe 17-year-old (right) also scored a cracker against PrestonCredit: PANwaneri with boss Mikel Arteta during training – but the Spaniard does not fully trust him to be a regular yet in the Premier LeagueCredit: GettyAnd this season has provided glimpses of the young midfielder’s seemingly limitless potential.Three Carabao Cup goals in his first two Arsenal starts have been followed by notable substitute appearances away at Tottenham, Newcastle and Inter Milan. For Arsenal fans, the next logical step is for Nwaneri to get a Prem start. The Emirates faithful are desperate for another teenage sensation to idolise and adore.READ MORE IN FOOTBALLIt is why social media erupted when Arteta claimed: “The boy is ready” after the 5-1 Carabao Cup third round win over Bolton – with two goals from Nwaneri on his first start. There is no doubt that he possesses the technical ability to make an impact in this Arsenal first team, but these days, it is Prem-proven physicality that really wins over Arteta. The Gunners boss is obsessed with height and power and since the start of his tenure in December 2019, Arteta has transformed this squad from tiny toddlers to towering titans. It is understood that under Arteta, certain players have three or more sessions a week of heavy lifting in the gym to get them to the required standard. Most read in FootballFOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALSAnd gazing over his starting XI now is like staring at a city of skyscrapers. William Saliba, Gabriel, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey are all six foot-plus and strapping. This big-man obsession has influenced recruitment too. Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino [both 6ft 2in] were signed this summer with exactly that in mind.Arsenal wages 2024-25 revealedArteta wants Nwaneri to bulk up like Bukayo SakaCredit: GettyNwaneri may have the maturity of a seasoned pro, but with the body of a kid standing at 5ft 9in, there appears to be a long way to go before Arteta takes the plunge from the off.And with giants like Rice, Partey and Merino to choose from in midfield, Arteta is unlikely to stray from what he knows gets results in the Prem. The good news is that Arteta has proven to be patient when waiting for players to beef up with varying methods – and it certainly pays off.The best example is Bukayo Saka – a spindly baby-face when he made his debut in November 2018 under Unai Emery as a 17-year-old, and had barely changed by the time Arteta took over.In order to protect him from being bullied by physically-superior opposition, Arteta kept Saka at left-back until he was ready bulk-wise to take on a demanding right-wing role.Saka’s mindset and dedication off the pitch has also been vital, having a home gym installed at his home, putting in extra rehab hours to stay fit and admitting to relying on his mother’s nutritious Nigerian home cooking. While Saka’s talent shone through in those early years, Arteta still demanded more from him physically. The big change came in the summer of 2023 where Saka’s body shape went from boy to man. It took four years, but Saka is now at the expected level.Ben White was another. A skinny, fresh-cheeked talent when he joined from Brighton for £50m in July 2021 as a 23-year-old, criticised on his Gunners Prem debut in a 2-0 defeat at Brentford for being too soft.Fast forward three years and White sent Arsenal fans crazy this summer when pictures emerged from pre-season of the right-back bench pressing 40kg dumbbells.Arteta’s other means of bulking is through the loan market, sending a 19-year-old Saliba out to Nice and Marseille between 2020 and 2022 to get to grips with men’s football. Now, the French centre-back is one of the best and most intimidating defenders in the division, able to match the likes of Erling Haaland for pace and power. It does not always work. Arteta signed Fabio Vieira for around £30m from Porto in June 2022, and instantly put him on a programme to make him more muscular. For whatever reason, the 24-year-old playmaker never really appeared to adapt to the Prem and was sent back to Porto on loan this summer in a bid to resurrect his career.READ MORE SUN STORIESNwaneri is unlikely to have a major growth spurt any time soon to suddenly become a starter – his physical development will take time and Arteta will continue to protect him. But, as 5ft 10in Saka has shown, it will be worth the wait. Signing for the club I’ve supported and my mum was so happy for me – she even cried!“My family are so important, they’re my motivation, I’ve got two younger siblings and an older sister that mean the world to me.”Heaven flourished under former Arsenal U18s coach Jack Wilshere, helping him get chances in the first team and training under Arteta at London Colney. The teenager added: “The intensity is crazy! You get dizzy sometimes because it’s at such a quick tempo. The difference between under-18s, under-21s and the first team is unbelievable.”I don’t know how many players are able to do that on a stage like this at his ageARTETA AFTER PRE-SEASON GAME AGAINST MAN UTDWHAT ARE THE EXPERTS SAYING?Arteta is not one for over-hyping a young player too quickly, but the Spaniard had some nice words to say about Heaven after the pre-season victory over United. He said post-match: “At 17, I don’t know how many players are able to do that on a stage like this.“He’s lost a duel against one of the strongest and fastest players in the world, it can happen.“But the reaction afterwards, the composure, the quality, the body language that he had were all remarkable.
