Chelsea join Arsenal in Joelson Fernandes transfer race after Gunners have £29m bid ‘rejected by Sporting Lisbon’

CHELSEA and Manchester City have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Portuguese prodigy Joelson Fernandes, according to reports.
The Sporting Lisbon starlet, 17, has been dubbed the next Cristiano Ronaldo due to his phenomenal wing-wizardry.

Chelsea and Manchester City have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Joelson Fernandes
Under-17 international Joelson made his Primeira Liga debut for Sporting in June and has a £41million release clause in his contract.
Arsenal have just had a second offer of £29m turned down by Sporting officials after failing with an £18m opening bid.
The Gunners are expected to test the Lisbon club’s resolve with an improved offer later this week, with boss Mikel Arteta eager to land the teenager.
But reports in Portugal claim both Chelsea and City have contacted Joelson’s advisor Kia Joorabchian to discuss potential deals.

Meetings are understood to be planned with both the free-spending Premier League clubs in the next few days.
And either Blues chief Frank Lampard or Etihad boss Pep Guardiola could yet pip Arteta to Joelson’s signature – with Sporting insisting they want the full £41million for him.

Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have also shown interest in the youngster.
Guinea-Bissau-born Joelson is the latest in a line of wing wonders produced by Sporting, following in the footsteps of Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Nani.

He has 16 Portugal youth caps from Under-15 upwards, scoring four goals.

Arsenal in Dani Ceballos transfer blow with Real Madrid now ‘wanting to KEEP midfielder in U-turn’ after stunning form

ARSENAL face losing out on signing Dani Ceballos this summer with a surprise return to Real Madrid now on the cards, according to reports.
Ceballos starred on loan for the Gunners towards the end of last season, playing a key role in their FA Cup triumph and manager Mikel Arteta had been keen to extend the Spaniard’s stay in North London.

    1

Real Madrid have decided they want Dani Ceballos back for pre-season
However, it seems Real Madrid now want the 24-year-old to return to the Spanish capital for pre-season following their Champions League exit to Manchester City.
Arsenal have been locked in talks with the Madrid hierarchy over the past few weeks with a view to renewing Ceballos’ loan spell but Real have now left the negotiating table.
Given the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the Spanish champions believe Ceballos represents a low-cost option to revitalise their squad.
The ex-Real Betis midfielder was signed by Los Blancos in 2017 as a long-term replacement for the ageing Luka Modric who, now aged 34, has just one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Real manager Zinedine Zidane will run the rule over Ceballos in pre-season before deciding on his future.
Ceballos is open to a return to Madrid but will demand assurances over playing time as he targets a place in Spain’s squad for the Euros next summer.
Speaking last month, Arsenal boss Arteta was hoping the Gunners could find an agreement with Real for the Spanish international.
He said: “Yeah, we are talking to the club.

“Obviously we don’t own the player, he’s not in our hands so the clubs will need to have a communication and see what we can do.

“I’m really happy with him, the way he’s evolving, and I love how much he likes to play football – the passion he puts into every training session and every game, you just have to see his celebrations.
“I think he’s evolving in the right way and he’s becoming a really important player for us.”
Ceballos was pictured yesterday wearing a Real Betis shirt while on holiday with pals, leading to speculation he might be eyeing a return to his boyhood club.

Willian confirms Chelsea exit as Brazilian says ‘it’s time to move on’ while he nears free Arsenal transfer

WILLIAN has confirmed his departure from Chelsea in an emotional open letter – paving the way for a switch to London rivals Arsenal.
The Brazilian, 32, spent seven seasons at Stamford Bridge but was unable to agree a contract extension.

He told fans: “The time has come to move on. I am certainly going to miss my teammates.
“I will miss all the staff at the club who’ve always treated me like a son and I will miss the fans.
“I leave with my head held high, safe in the knowledge that I won things here and always did my best in a Chelsea shirt!”
The winger had been at loggerheads with the Chelsea hierarchy as his time as a blue came to an end.

Willian made it clear he was only interested in a three-year deal, but was only offered two years by Chelsea.
Manager Frank Lampard insisted he and the club had “done everything” to keep the forward at Stamford Bridge.
Willian’s departure comes as Arsenal push on to sign the playmaker on a free transfer.

It is understood the Gunners are ready to offer him a three-year deal, with £100k-a-week deal already agreed.

Defender David Luiz last summer made the switch across London in an £8million move.
It came a year after Olivier Giroud traded red for blue.

Arsenal desperate for James Rodriguez transfer ahead of Atletico and PSG with star’s Real Madrid career finished

ARSENAL are reportedly desperate to land James Rodriguez from Real Madrid but face a fight with Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Gunners are keen to snap up the Colombian ace after it emerged his Los Blancos career was over.

Spanish outlet AS reports Mikel Arteta’s side are the team most interested in rescuing Rodriguez from the Bernabeu.
European big-hitters PSG are also thought to be keen on the 29-year-old as he is offered around by agent Jorge Mendes.
And it was previously reported that Rodriguez was set for a sensational cross-city move to join Real’s rivals Atleti.
Talk of a £13.5million deal to swap Madrid sides began after it became clear he had no future under boss Zinedine Zidane.

Rodriguez returned from a two-year loan spell in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich last summer.

But he has failed to resurrect his Galacticos career – making only eight La Liga appearances in the 2019-20 season as he struggled with form and fitness.
It now appears Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Real Sociedad in June will be the last time fans see Rodriguez in the white shirt.

He reportedly asked Zidane not to play against Athletic Bilbao on July 5 and that was the final straw for the French manager.
Rodriguez burst on to the scene in the 2014 World Cup, bagging six goals for Colombia on his way to claiming the Golden Boot.
His displays in Brazil earned a £63m move to Madrid but he has failed to deliver on his promise in the last six years and despite having one year left on his deal, is likely to be moved on.

The former Porto man spoke about his struggles as the traditional No10 role became marginalised in the modern game.
In 2017, he told Bundesliga officials: “I think there are no more classic No10s left in the world.
“Football today is tactical and very physical, with no place for a No10.”

Ryan Fraser’s Bournemouth walk-out looks set to backfire as Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool transfer interest dries up

RYAN FRASER’S decision to walk out on Bournemouth looks like it could backfire.
The Scot rejected a Cherries deal of around £67,000-a-week — but Crystal Palace are offering nearer to £50,000 a week for the winger, who had hoped to earn a move worth at least double that.

Fraser, 26, is available on a free and was being tracked by elite clubs such as Arsenal and Tottenham after his stellar 2018/19 campaign, when he scored seven Premier League goals and 14 assists.
After failing to repeat that success, neither club has made a move.
It means Fraser’s options could be limited to Palace and West Ham, who are also interested.
And with the pandemic affecting football finances everywhere, the wages on offer may not be as lucrative as before Covid-19 struck.

Fraser snubbed a short-term contract in June, so sat out the rest of the campaign as Bournemouth slumped to relegation.
Having signed for the Cherries back in League One, he made over 200 appearances but has not played in almost five months.

The 2019/20 season saw Fraser score just once, against Everton in September, with four assists.
Bournemouth were relegated on the final day of the season despite completing a league double over the Toffees.

After the coronavirus shutdown, they picked up only two wins in nine games as they finished a point from safety.

Arsenal, Man Utd and Leeds miss out on Jonathan David transfer after he ‘agrees £27m Lille move’ from Gent

ARSENAL, Manchester United and Leeds have been dealt a bitter blow after Gent striker Jonathan David reportedly agreed a £27million move to Lille.
The highly-rated Canadian forward, 20, had been targeted by Mikel Arteta as a possible Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement.

But as reported by Goal, the whizkid looks set to replace Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen at Lille after he joined Napoli for £45m last week.

It is understood that David will pen a five-year contract at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.
The Canada ace has made no secret of his desire to join the Ligue 1 side this summer.
Speaking to L’Equipe in July, David said: “Yes, I want to come to Lille.

“I have had a very good season. For me, my next step, is Ligue 1.
“And the footballing project at Lille is fantastic. They are a very good team in France.
    “The Lille project interests me.
“I already speak French. That will help during my adaptation period.

“And Lille is very close to Gent geographically. So I will be able to concentrate on the pitch.”
Gent’s chairman Ivan De Witte had reportedly confirmed an offer from Leeds following their stunning Championship title win.

Manchester United had also enquired about the Canadian hotshot and the club had sent scouts to keep tabs on him.
While Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Spurs and Leicester have also been linked with the in demand forward in the past few months.
It’s comes as no surprise as David has emerged as one of the top young forwards on the continent having scoring 37 goals and assisting a further 15 in just 83 games.
