Mikel Arteta began to cast his eye over Smith Rowe when pre-season training began on Monday.
The Mail report on Monaco’s early approach being rejected with Arsenal rating the 20-year-old at between £10million and £15m.
Leeds and Fulham are also named as interested parties in a loan deal for Smith Rowe.
While his hometown club Crystal Palace have made their interest in a permanent deal known.

Football.London believe the club have told Smith Rowe he will be in Arteta’s squad for the start of the coming season.
Having impressed in cup competitions for Arsenal across the last two campaigns, he has accrued experience with Huddersfield and German club RB Leipzig.
And Arteta recently declared: “I am excited to work with him.
“I have been talking with him and I have followed him during his spell on loan. I think he’s someone who can be pretty impressive.”

A huge squad overhaul is underway at Emirates Stadium which may promote Smith Rowe closer to the starting XI.
Incomings have been the order of the day so far with Willian in the bag, Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari’s loans being made permanent, and Gabriel Magalhaes on the way.
Alexandre Lacazette may be allowed to leave for £30m while Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil are thought to be up for sale, along with Wolves-bound Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Coutinho has spent the season on loan with the German champs after his time in Spain turned sour.
He even scored twice against his employers in Bayern’s stunning 8-2 thumping of the Catalans in the quarter-finals.
But speaking after lifting Champions League silverware, the 28-year-old refused to rule anything out.
He said: “Of course, I have to go back to Barcelona and then we’ll see what happens.

“I haven’t really thought about it much, I’ve only been focused on the final.
“What I can say is that I really want to work hard to have a great year, but let’s see what happens.”

New Barca boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly due to hold talks with Coutinho in a make-or-break meeting on the playmaker’s Barcelona future.
Koeman is thought to be impressed with Coutinho’s skills on the pitch and is likely to try and persuade him to stay at the club, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Nou Camp giants, who also lost their LaLiga crown to rivals Real Madrid, are reportedly having to tighten their purse strings following the coronavirus pandemic and football financial crisis.
It is thought the club, who are facing a battle to hold on to skipper Lionel Messi, are having to flog some of their biggest stars.

Former Liverpool frontman Luis Suarez is among the names who could be headed for the Nou Camp exit ahead of next season.
One newspaper in Spain, The Catalan, even reported that Arsenal had “agreed personal terms” with Coutinho.
They claimed that Coutinho visited the Gunners’ Colney Heath training complex and is keen to join this summer.

Kia Joorabchian says Arsenal have been warned it will take ‘big numbers’ to secure Coutinho transfer from Barcelona More

Bernardeschi has been linked with Manchester United
Wolves’ Raul Jimenez – who hit 27 goals last season – remain Juve’s No1 target.
But according to Nicolò Schira, Arsenal striker Lacazaette has emerged as an alternative.
And with the Serie A kings looking to reduce their wage bill, they may try to include attacker Bernardeschi in any deal with the Gunners.
Bernardeschi has been linked with Manchester United and despite playing 38 times last term the Italian’s career in Turin remains uncertain.

Reports in Italy say Pirlo has a seven-man shortlist as he targets a new centre-forward.
Alvaro Morata, Karim Benzema, Edin Dzeko, Arkadiusz Milk and Duvan Zapata also feature.
Pirlo has already stamped his mark with Juve having terminated the contracts of three players.

Blaise Matuidi was the first to go, joining David Beckham’s Inter Miami in MLS.

Now Higuain and Sami Khedira have followed, with talks between the club and the unwanted pair are ongoing as they seek a payout.

And it appeared the Gunners moved into pole position to sign the 22-year-old and even agreed a five-year contract with Mikel Areta’s side.
But despite reports Gabriel competed a medical after Lille accepted Arsenal’s £22million bid – Manchester United look to have hijacked the move.
It is understood United have bid for the Brazilian, causing him to consider his next step.
According to The Telegraph, following interest from Old Trafford, Gabriel is “more than happy to wait before making a final decision”.

Gabriel was believed to have given himself the weekend to think things over, but that suggestion has now been quashed.
United could now indeed be in the driving seat now as they can offer higher wages than Arsenal.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will also be playing in next season’s Champions League.
Arsenal thought they had a deal done after seeing off interest from Napoli.

But Arteta could be forced to look elsewhere following United’s game-changing move.

Arsenal should sell Hector Bellerin for right transfer fee along with Mustafi and Sokratis, says legend Charlie Nicholas

ARSENAL should sell Hector Bellerin this summer, according to Gunners legend Charlie Nicholas.
Boss Mikel Arteta is poised to continue re-shaping the squad this summer, and the defence will clearly be a priority.

And while Nicholas expects the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis, Calum Chambers and even Rob Holding to be fearing for their future, Bellerin is a surprise name on his list of possible exits.
The Spanish defender, 25, joined Arsenal from the Barcelona academy in 2011, and has gone on to make 204 appearances in all compeitions.
Speaking to Sky Sports, on the prospect of flogging Bellerin, Nicholas said: “I would contemplate and look at, people have been mentioning, somebody like Bellerin if the right money came.
“Now, Bellerin has been a star but since his bad injury he’s never really recovered fully.

“If we can get him fit again and get him going again, then I’m all for Bellerin staying here.”

Arsenal are believed to be close to completing the signing of centre-half Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille, provided they can fight off a last-minute move by rivals Manchester United.
And with William Saliba back from his loan and fighting for a first-team spot, that could mean the end of the road for a whole clutch of players.
Nicholas added: “Mustafi will be sold. He’s injured just now but he will be sold, he has to go.

“Sokratis I think will say: ‘At my stage, I have to go’.
“Rob Holding, nothing against him, I don’t think Arsenal’s helped him. It was the wrong move at the wrong time for the lad. I think if the right offer comes in, he’ll go.
“Obviously Calum Chambers, who has been in and out of the club unbelievable amounts of times, will have to go for his own sake, rather than his long-term future at Arsenal – it doesn’t exist.
“So they’ll be four out, you get the money in, you replace them.”

The Premier League opening day fixtures for 2020-21 have been revealed

Bellerin wasn’t letting any rumour of his future affect his summer break as he spent time with family and friends in Lake Como.
The fashion-loving Arsenal ace was spotted with a cigarette in his mouth during dinner, as his dad sipped on a glass of wine.
The group also enjoyed a boat trip on the lake, with Bellerin whipping off his blue and cream shirt to soak up the last of the summer rays.

Arsenal outcast Sokratis wanted in Roma transfer as Italians look at alternatives to Man Utd defender Chris Smalling

ROMA are considering a move for Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to reports.
Italian media have named the Greek defender as a possible alternative to Chris Smalling, who remains the Serie A side’s primary target this summer.

Stumping up the £20million fee for Manchester United loanee Smalling is proving tough for Roma, requiring them to look elsewhere.
And the Giallorossi are drawn to Sokratis, according to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness.
Mikel Arteta has dropped the Greek centre-back down his pecking order since arriving in North London.
Sokratis has been afforded just one Premier League start under the coach, as a makeshift right-back in the March victory over West Ham.

And, at 32 with just a year left on his contract, a sale may be tempting for Arsenal.
Recently purchased by American billionaire Daniel Friedkin, Roma are still thought to be pushing for United man Smalling.

The 30-year-old starred in a loan spell at the Stadio Olimpico this season and reportedly wants to remain in Italy.
Inter Milan and Newcastle are also understood to be monitoring his situation.

But, a surprise reprieve at Old Trafford is not off the table with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talking up the Englishman’s “value” to United earlier in the summer.

The manager stated: “I think Chris has shown over his Manchester United career how valuable he is at Manchester United.
“This season was about him being a regular and going to Roma and showing how good a centre-back he is, I wanted to give Harry [Maguire], Victor [Lindelof] and maybe Axel [Tuanzebe] a chance.
“It was best for him to go and play for a year in Roma and he has shown he will be valuable, I’ve been speaking to Chris throughout. I’ve been delighted with his season.”

James Rodriguez hints at Premier League transfer amid Arsenal interest and hits out at Real Madrid for freezing him out

JAMES RODRIGUEZ has opened the door to a Premier League move having grown “frustrated” under exile from Real Madrid.
Joining Gareth Bale in being pushed towards the Bernabeu exit door, Rodriguez appeared only once in LaLiga in 2020 having previously been sent on loan to Bayern Munich.

    1

Arsenal, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid, are linked with the Colombian and he is ready to contemplate a switch to England.
James told Daniel Habif’s podcast: “Now there are many things, everything is over now, the virus stopped everything.
“There are many clubs that do not have so much, in a few days I know where I am going.
“I still don’t know; Italy, Spain, England. It’s a question that I have and I don’t know, but I do want to go where I can play, where I can be happy and where I feel that I am loved by everyone.

“I’ve already played in France, I’ve been in several good leagues. Only Italy and the Premier League are missing.
“I have to see where I want to go or where they want me to go…

For a Colombian to go to Bayern, Real, France and then the Premier League would be big.
    James Rodriguez

“[England] would be a good thing, it would be a ‘top’ league.
“And for a Colombian going to Bayern, Real, France and then the Premier League would be big.

“I have to see, I place everything in the hands of God so that he can show me the way and give me a lot of wisdom to choose well.”
Having earned his move to Real Madrid in 2014, the attacking midfielder quickly slipped down the pecking order and was sent on a two-year loan spell with Bayern.
And a fresh shot at Zinedine Zidane’s team this campaign has not gone well, with just a single goal in 14 matches.
Rodriguez described his situation as “frustrating”, explaining: “Because I know that I have the conditions for me to be able to play – not a little, to always play.
“But for other people I cannot do it. And for me it is frustrating because I know that I can be there.
“I say, ‘If I were bad, I couldn’t play’, then I would stay calm. But no, as I said before, I am a person who always wants to win, always be, for me it is super frustrating.”
    SNOW BOTHER
That could open the way for a relatively cheap move but James, 29, admits that he has struggled to adapt to other cultures – with Germany’s cold weather a particular issue for the South American.
He continued: “Although I was treated spectacularly, [Bayern] is a club that loved me a lot, living was not easy, it is cold in -20ºC.
“There were days when that I would go to work at 9am, I would start the car and when the temperature was at -28ºC. And I would say, ‘What am I doing here? What am I doing here in -28ºC?’.

“Munich is a city with a high quality of life. But I couldn’t be comfortable… They only think about work, work and work. They are machines. They are incredible.
“They arrive, ‘Hello, good morning, good morning’, they change, they train and, ‘Goodbye, bye’. Each one with their own life, they train and are ‘little machines’. It’s incredible.
“When they drink these 5-litre beers, rather, they gulp it all in 25 minutes, it’s incredible…”
