Arsenal make Houssem Aouar ‘No 1 summer transfer target with Arteta looking to build side around Lyon midfielder’

MIKEL ARTETA has remain tight-lipped over Arsenal’s pursuit of their No1 target Houssem Aouar.
The Lyon ace has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates, though it will take the Gunners £55million to prise him away from the Ligue 1 outfit.

According to ESPN, the French youth international remains Arsenal’s top priority this summer with Arteta a huge fan of the player.
They claim that the ex-Manchester City assistant manager wants to build his side around the 22-year-old.
Man City and Juventus have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, but Arsenal are understood to be leading the race to sign him.
It has been stated that Aouar is keen to depart Lyon, with his future to potentially be resolved in the next two weeks.
And speaking ahead of the Premier League season opener against Fulham, Arteta was quizzed about signing the player.

He told reporters of Aouar: “I don’t want to talk about players at other clubs.”
Arteta did however state that Arsenal are looking to bring in more players following the arrivals of Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes and Dani Ceballos on loan.
The 38-year-old said: “We are still active in the market. We are looking at different options, with players in and out.
“At the moment the squad balance is not ideal and what we want to achieve. There is still some work to do but we have to bear in mind the complication of this market and the complexity as well.

“Numbers wise, some positions are overbooked and some others, in terms of specific qualities that we need, they are still not there.
“But it’s going to be very difficult to achieve what we want in one window or two windows.
“It’s a process, it has to be evolving and most importantly it has to be a sustainable model that we can consistently fit in using our academy players.”

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG’S new Arsenal contract will reportedly see him become the highest-paid player at the Emirates.
It was initially believed that his new deal would see him pocket £250,000-a-week, but it has now been claimed the 31-year-old will top Mesut Ozil’s wages.

The German playmaker is on £350,000-a-week in North London, but The Athletic have stated Aubameyang will become the top earner at the club.
No figure has been mentioned by the news outlet, only that his current £200k-a-week deal will be vastly improved.
Mikel Arteta is said to have been instrumental in negotiations, with the club’s former head of football Raul Sanllehi playing a huge part in talks before his departure.
An official announcement of Aubameyang’s stay is expected to be made imminently, and could take place before Saturday’s clash with Fulham.
Ozil will now be the second top earner at Arsenal following his contract extension in January 2018.
Following him in third place is summer arrival Willian, who rakes in £220,000-a-week after joining on a free transfer.
In fourth is Alexandre Lacazette who earns £182,000-a-week, with club-record signing Nicolas Pepe completing the top five thanks to his £140,000-a-week deal.
Brazilian defender David Luiz then follows with £125,000, with right-back Hector Bellerin down in seventh (£110,000).
Then there are three players all earning £100,000 per week – Sead Kolasinac, Bernd Leno and Granit Xhaka.
Gunners fans have also been buoyed by the news that the club remain keen to sign Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar.

Arsenal reject Hector Bellerin loan offer from PSG as French giants turn to Roma star Alessandro Florenzi

HECTOR BELLERIN’S potential switch to Paris Saint-Germain is off after Arsenal rejected a loan bid from the French side.
It has been claimed that the Spanish right-back was keen on a move to Les Parisiens after nine years in North London.

And it is understood that the Gunners would be willing to part ways with Bellerin if they received around £35million.
PSG were said to have tabled a £30m bid for the 25-year-old, but Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that they wanted to bring Bellerin in on loan.
Having been knocked back in their approach for the defender, they have now turned their attention to Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi.
Romano tweeted: “Alessandro Florenzi is set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
“Agreement reached with AS Roma on loan with buy option.
“Arsenal have turned down last PSG bid to sign Bellerin on loan – Florenzi is coming to PSG.”
But Bellerin could still be on his way out of the Emirates this summer, with Barcelona said to be keen to bring him back to Catalonia.
Bellerin left the Blaugrana in 2011 to join Arsenal’s academy, but he has been linked with a return to Spain.

It has been claimed that Barca officials have begun talks with Gunners technical director Edu about signing Bellerin.
However the move depends on whether Ronald Koeman’s side can offload Nelson Semedo.

ARSENAL reportedly face competition from Manchester City in the race to prise Houssem Aouar away from Lyon this summer.
The 22-year-old has already been the subject of a player-plus-cash deal from the Gunners, but the offer was swiftly rejected by the Ligue 1 outfit.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for Aouar, but a switch to the Premier League is believed to be his priority.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that the North London side remain keen on bringing him to the Emirates.
He has revealed that the Arsenal board are huge fans of the player, but as of yet, no new bid is on the table.
He tweeted: “Arsenal board [as Arteta too] are convinced that Houssem Aouar is a real ‘top player’.
“And Aouar would love to move to Premier League. But after refusing Guendouzi as part of the negotiation, OL don’t want to accept any swap deal.
“Price tag €60m (£55m) and no new bid yet from #AFC.”
According to the Mirror, Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the playmaker who was instrumental in Lyon’s Champions League semi-final run.
And Pep will now battle his former assistant manager Mikel Arteta in the race to secure his services.

Commenting on the player’s future, Lyon’s sporting director Juninho said: “I get on very well with [Arsenal technical director] Edu, we spoke on the phone.
“Aouar is really appreciated by Mikel Arteta. Guendouzi was discussed during the call, he is a great player, but he is the wrong profile.
“We are not interested in that at all, we cut the conversation.”

The 31-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but the Gunners have been desperate to extend his stay at the Emirates.

Aubameyang – who has scored 71 goals in 110 games for the club – was at London Colney on Wednesday for the Arsenal first team photocall.
And according to ESPN, official confirmation of his new deal will be announced imminently.
They have even stated that the North London side could confirm his stay prior to Saturday’s Premier League clash against Fulham.
His £250,000-a-week contract will see him become the second-highest player at the club behind Mesut Ozil.
Former head of football Raul Sanllehi is understood to have been key in negotiations before his departure from Arsenal.
And ESPN have also added that Alexandre Lacazette is set to speak to Arsenal to discuss what his role will be in the side this campaign.
The French forward was benched in a number of games following Project Restart with Eddie Nketiah preferred instead.
And with the 29-year-old having two years left to run on his deal, the ex-Lyon ace wants clarity over his future.

The French keeper spent last season providing back-up for Real Madrid No1 Thibaut Courtois, 28.

Areola told FFCtv: “I am very happy everything is done. Scott Parker called me and I had a good feeling. He said he really wanted me.
“Fulham is a historic club in London and I have heard a lot about the stadium.
“I hope this season will be a good one for us. I want to bring my energy and do everything for this team to keep us where we belong to be.”
The Frenchman was keen to move on from PSG as he bids to keep his place as France’s third-choice stopper for the European Championships next summer.
It is understood he also favoured a move to the capital, having brought a house in London.

According to FabrizioRomano, Arsenal are in talks with Aouar’s agent ahead of an improved bid.
But Lyon have made it clear they will not entertain anything lower than their £54.5m valuation.
And they are also not interested in any move involving a swap.
Lyon’s sporting director Juninho revealed Arsenal attempted to offer Matteo Guendouzi, 21, in a deal for Aouar, 22 – but they rejected the proposal.
Juninho told Top of the Foot: “I get on very well with Edu, we spoke on the phone.
“Aouar is really appreciated by Mikel Arteta.
“Guendouzi was discussed during the call, he is a great player, but he is the wrong profile.
“We are not interested in that at all, we cut the conversation.”
Arsenal boss Arteta will need to sell this window, as they cannot afford to match Lyon’s asking price for Aouar.
Emiliano Martinez, 28, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, 32, Rob Holding, 24, and Lucas Torreira, also 24, are among those linked with an Emirates exit.
Hector Bellerin, 25, has also attracted attention from Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen and PSG.
