Arsenal should make Jerome Boateng transfer to get best out of Gabriel and William Saliba, claims Kevin Campbell

ARSENAL have been urged to sign Jerome Boateng in order to get the best out of defenders Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.
Gunners legend Kevin Campbell claimed the Bayern Munich defender could help Arsenal’s latest centre-backs fulfil their potential.

Former Manchester City defender Boateng, 32, has won eight Bundesliga titles and two Champions League titles since arriving at the Allianz Arena in 2011.
His current deal expires at the end of the season and he was linked with a number of clubs in the summer – including Arsenal.
Former striker Campbell, 50, told Football Insider: “You can never have enough quality and you can never have enough players who have done it at the top level.

“Looking to maybe recruit someone like Jerome Boateng shows where the club is at.
“Gabriel and Saliba would benefit from having somebody like Boateng at the club.
“I am not sure how long David Luiz will be at the club so Jerome Boateng could be that experienced player who helps others fulfil their potential.
“I am not sure how long David Luiz will be at the club so Jerome Boateng could be that experienced player who helps others fulfil their potential.

“If you put it out to the Arsenal fan base they will say, ‘Oh he is too old.’ But beggars cannot be choosers and we need experience. He is a serial winner.”

Gabriel, 22, arrived in North London from Lille in a £27million deal in the summer after Arsenal fought off competition from Manchester United for the Brazilian’s signature.
Saliba, 19, finally linked up with the Gunners after the Ligue 1 season was curtailed by Covid-19 having been loaned back to Saint-Etienne after signing permanently at the Emirates for £27million in 2019.
But Arteta has decided he needs further first-team development before fitting into his side and Saliba is set for another loan move after failing to make an appearance in England.
Boateng, a 2014 World Cup winner, has been ditched by the German national team and coach Joachim Low.
But after the 6-0 drubbing by Spain, he found support in Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil.
The £350,000-a-week German midfielder tweeted: “Time to take Boateng back.”

Arsenal ‘offered Christian Eriksen in swap transfer for Granit Xhaka’ as Inter look to offload ex-Tottenham flop

ARSENAL could bring Christian Eriksen back to North London in a swap deal involving Granit Xhaka, according to reports.
Inter Milan are considering selling the Dane only a year after signing him from Tottenham.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Eriksen will be put up for sale in January unless he can pull of a considerable turnaround under coach Antonio Conte.
The pair have sparked a war of words in the media with the midfielder speaking of his disappointment at being left out the side.
The 28-year-old has started just 12 Serie A games for the club and is yet to register a goal or assist in 2020-21.
That has led to Inter reportedly seeking a good return on their £17million signing.

One idea that is said to be under consideration at the Giuseppe Meazza is a swap with Arsenal for Granit Xhaka.
Conte wants to bring a defensive midfielder to Milan but first-choice signing N’Golo Kante is not available from Chelsea.
Xhaka, 28, is seen as a good alternative and Inter may be able to convince the Swiss star to move given Thomas Partey’s increased prominence in the Gunners’ side.
No bid has been launched yet and Eriksen is still thought to have time to improve before Inter commit to a sale.

Tuesday’s Corriere dello Sport links Eriksen to the Gunners
Should the deal be completed, the ex-Spurs star will join a select group of players to turn out for both North London clubs – including Pat Jennings, Emmanuel Adebayor and Sol Campbell.
During the international break, he complained to Danish media that his move to Inter has been far from perfect.
He told TV2: “This isn’t what I dreamt of.
“All players want to play as much as possible, but the coach decides who gets to go on the pitch.
“It is a strange situation, as the fans want to see me playing more and so would I, but the coach has different ideas and as a player I have to respect that.”
He later added: “I don’t want to sit on the bench for the whole season. I hope this isn’t the coach’s or the club’s intention.”

Inter boss Conte has been unapologetic in rotating Eriksen in and out his side, with the playmaker only completing the full 90 minutes twice during his Serie A stay.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “All the choices I make are always and only for the good of Inter, not for that of the individual player.
“I am a hammer, but this is the only way to grow. Without a culture of victory, you can never get to success, but that comes through work and discipline.
“When I leave Inter one day, I hope in the distant future, I am sure of one thing: the Inter I will leave will be better than the one I found, from all points of view. That has always happened in every club I have been to.”

Adebayor reveals he persuaded Thomas Partey to make Arsenal transfer ahead of Man Utd and Chelsea

THOMAS PARTEY was advised by Emmanuel Adebayor to reject Manchester United and Chelsea to sign for Arsenal, the striker has claimed.
The Gunners paid £45.5million to sign the Ghana international in a deadline day switch from Atletico Madrid.

But they were not alone in tracking Partey, according to Adebayor, who even believes Arsenal can WIN the Premier League having signed the midfielder.
The 36-year-old told reporters in Ghana: “About six months to a year ago, he was telling me about contacts he had had from England.
“He mentioned Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea.
“And I told him, ‘Listen, if I have a chance to play in England, a chance to play for Arsenal, the place you to have go to is Arsenal’.

“Because he is young, he is still learning and Arsenal are a family club, and I’m very happy and impressed with his first steps in the team.
“Unfortunately we all saw what happened against Aston Villa at home but he is a great player, a great personality.

“He is like a younger brother to me who is always looking for advice and we get along very well.”
Adebayor says he has helped Partey, 27, settle in London and wishes he had a similarly experienced pro to guide him when signing for Arsenal from Monaco in 2006.

He continued: “When I went to Arsenal, I didn’t have anybody to tell me what to do or where to go.
“I even told him the area where to stay, where he can find a beautiful and calm house. Because you need to be calm to play better on the pitch.”

If Leicester won the league four years ago, I think Arsenal with Aubameyang, Lacazette, now Thomas Partey – they have a big chance.
    Emmanuel Adebayor

A stop-start season has seen Mikel Arteta’s side lose as many league games as they have won, with Aston Villa claiming a 3-0 win at Emirates Stadium a week ago.
Yet, given the unpredictable nature of the Premier League, Adebayor believes the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette can lead the club to a shock title win.
The striker, who is currently a free agent, added: “If Leicester won the league four years ago, I think Arsenal with Aubameyang, Lacazette, now Thomas Partey – they have a big chance.
“It is going to be difficult, if you see the way Liverpool are playing now, it is going to be very difficult.

Arsenal joined by Bayern Munich in Dominik Szoboszlai transfer chase, confirms Matthaus who likens him to Kai Havertz

BAYERN MUNICH have joined Arsenal in the transfer chase for Dominik Szobaszlai, claimed Lothar Matthaus.
And the German holds high hopes for the Hungarian ‘gem’ as he compared the youngster to Kai Havertz.

The Gunners are hopeful of landing a creative midfielder when the transfer window reopens.
And it was reported talks have already taken place between Edu and the Red Bull Salzburg and Hungary star.
However, Matthaus – who spent 12 years as a Bayern Munich player, managed Hungary and coached at Red Bull Salzburg – is sure Bayern are tracking Szobaszlai for a transfer.
Speaking to Munchner Abendzeitung, the 1990 World Cup winner said: “He is a gem. He’s like Kai Havertz.

“He could move to RB Leipzig in January, but I’m convinced that every top club in Europe has him on their list, including Bayern.
“In Hungary, Szoboszlai is already being compared to the great Ferenc Puskas.”
Arsenal could see Szoboszlai as a cheaper alternative to Lyon’s Houssem Aouar because of the £22.5million release clause in his contract.
And Gunners fans have urged the club to secure his services following his dramatic winner against Iceland to book Hungary’s place at next summer’s European Championships.

But they face plenty of competition with Real Madrid among the interested parties – and it is little wonder with the left-sided midfielder already racking up five goals and nine assists in 13 games for Salzburg this season.
Arsenal were dealt a blow when Hungarian national team boss Marco Rossi suggested Szoboszlai may head from Austria to Germany.
He said: “My feeling is that he is more likely to end up in Germany.
“He is ready to make the leap, going to the Bundesliga the pace is less.
“The Austrian football of Salzburg is similar to that of the Bundesliga.”

Arsenal draw up transfer plans for next summer with Houssem Aouar and centre-back top of Mikel Arteta’s wishlist

ARSENAL are reportedly lining up a bid for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar next summer after falling short this year.
The Gunners are getting their list of targets for the summer transfer window drawn up ahead of time.

And the Lyon attacking midfielder is still on manager Mikel Arteta’s wishlist after interest earlier this year, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Local lad Aouar, 22, has risen through the ranks at Lyon and was named in the Champions League squad of the season last year.
He was pivotal in Lyon’s run to the semi-finals, where they beat Juventus and Manchester City before losing to Bayern Munich.

Ornstein added that the Gunners are also after a right-sided centre-back where there could be a potential shortage in the squad.
He said: “I’m not sure about an attacking midfielder coming into Arsenal in January.
“What I am hearing is that Arsenal are already well ahead in their planning for the window of summer 2021 & talks are taking place about potential recruits.
“The sense I get is that they would be looking, understandably, to bring in a creative attacking midfielder in that sort of No 10 role but perhaps who could operate towards the right as well because they’re fairly well stocked on the left.

“They pursued the signing in the summer of Houssem Aouar of Lyon, so I don’t imagine that interest would necessarily go away.
“The other position I’ve heard a little bit about is the right-sided central defender.
“If David Luiz & others were to go, then there could be a bit of a shortage there.”

Arsenal failed to sign Aouar in the summer because their offer was “below market value”, according to Lyon chief Vincent Ponsont.
Ponsont revealed THREE clubs were chasing Aouar in the summer.
And he claimed Arsenal offered too little, even considering they were willing to give them a “discount” due to the financial repercussions of coronavirus.

Ponsont told L’Equipe: “We had three big clubs for him. The first one was more for next season.
“The second one was related to the departure of a player, and with this club, we could have come to an agreement.
“The third club was Arsenal, who offered below the market value.
“We discussed it with the player’s entourage, and together we took the decision to say no.”
