How Arsenal would line-up with Emi Buendia and Yves Bissouma transfers as Gunners consider moves for midfield duo

ARSENAL are plotting a midfield overhaul with moves for Emi Buendia and Yves Bissouma.
Mikel Arteta is eager to bolster his ranks in the middle of the park and is keen on Norwich playmaker Buendia who has dazzled in the Championship, carving out 62 chances for his side.

The Gunners are reportedly planning an ‘imminent’ bid for the 24-year-old to test the Canaries’ resolve.
Last month it was claimed Arsenal were weighing up a move with Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock potentially included in the deal.
And now the Gunners are looking at Brighton’s Bissouma who is known to be a huge fan of the club.
The Mali international, 24, is not short of admirers but reportedly would choose Arsenal over any other Premier League side.

But how could the two new additions fit into Arteta’s starting XI at the Emirates?
Buendia may take the place of impressive youngster Emile Smith Rowe behind main striker Alexandre Lacazette.
And Arsenal are thought to be hoping to pair up Bissouma with Ghanaian Thomas Partey.
Dani Ceballos is set to return to parent club Real Madrid at the end of the season and with doubts over Granit Xhaka and Joe Willock’s future, Bissouma is likely to slot in ahead of Mohamed Elneny.

Alternatively, Smith Rowe – who scored in extra time to help Arsenal edge past Newcastle in the FA Cup – may keep his spot after a series of eye-catching showings in the No10 role.
Gunners outcast Mesut Ozil said the side looked good with the 20-year-old ‘difference maker’ in the line-up.
Buendia could play on the right, with England international Bukayo Saka shifting to the left to accommodate the Argentine.
Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could then be used through the middle instead of Lacazette.

Arsenal keen on Yves Bissouma transfer with Brighton ace ‘huge fan of Gunners and would pick them over any Prem team’

ARSENAL are reportedly interested in Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma who is a ‘huge Gunners fan’.
The 24-year-old Mali international has caught the eye for the Seagulls and Football London reports a close pal of the star said he would choose the Gunners over a move to any other Premier League side.

The source also revealed Bissouma ‘loves the Premier League’ and is therefore likely to remain in England if he chooses to leave Graham Potter’s side.
Boyhood Gooner Bissouma joined Brighton from Lille in 2018 for a £15.2million fee.
He is said to still speak regularly to former Lille team-mates and Arsenal stars Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel, which could help facilitate a move.
The report states the Gunners have already made contact with Bissouma’s agent Michael N’Cho.

But a move this summer appears to be a more realistic possibility than a transfer this month.
Mikel Arteta is set on a more creative midfield addition in January, with reports heavily linking the Gunners with an ‘imminent’ move for Norwich star Emi Buendia.
And with the futures of Granit Xhaka and Joe Willock uncertain and loanee Dani Ceballos set to return to Madrid, the North Londoners will be looking to bolster their midfield ranks at the end of the campaign.
Bissouma attracted attention from Arsenal and Liverpool before the transfer window had even opened for business.

The Reds are monitoring his situation with a view to signing a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum with the Dutchman out of contract at the end of this season.
Manchester United and Monaco have also been linked with Bissouma.
The Malian has two years left on his contract and has impressed European giants Real Madrid who are believed to be keeping tabs on his progress.
But there are slight concerns over his discipline – he has been booked five times and sent off once in 16 Prem appearances this season.
He ranks joint fourth in the league for fouls committed with 28 but the Gunners are still considering swooping to pair Bissouma with Thomas Partey in the middle of the park.

Arsenal star Rob Holding signs new long-term contract with 25-year-old defender seen as ’emerging leader’

ARSENAL defender Rob Holding has reportedly penned a new long-term deal at the club.
The 25-year-old centre-back has extended his contract that was due to expire in 2023, claim The Athletic.

Holding came close to joining Newcastle on loan in the summer with a view to guaranteeing him more game time but boss Mikel Arteta blocked the transfer.
And it’s proved a good call with Arteta starting Holding in ten out of the Gunners’ last 11 Premier League outings.
When asked whether Holding had signed on the dotted line, Arteta said: “It’s something that we will announce as quickly as we can, but it looks like it.”
The report states the Spanish boss and technical director Edu now see Holding as one of the side’s ’emerging leaders’.

And they are looking to build the team around senior professionals like former England Under-21s star Holding alongside fresh new talent.
It had looked ominous for the Englishman when central defenders Pablo Mari and Gabriel arrived on permanent deals in the previous transfer window.
Holding hovered near the exit with some club chiefs keen to reduce Arsenal’s bloated squad.
But the Bolton youth product has instead taken his chance at the Emirates – playing 1,214 minutes of top flight football so far this season.

It is a far cry from the torrid run with injuries he has endured for the majority of his Gunners career.
Holding ruptured his ACL in December 2018 and has only made 96 appearances for the club since arriving in 2016.
And 18 of those have come this season after he grabbed his latest opportunity with both hands – even being handed the captain’s armband against Everton in December.
Meanwhile, the report states Arsenal could send back-up keeper Alex Runarsson out on loan to gain more experience if they can secure a replacement to serve as Bernd Leno’s No2.

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney lined up for shock transfer by Napoli after Italians missed out on move last season

ARSENAL star Kieran Tierney is a shock transfer target for Napoli after the Italians missed out on him last season, according to reports.
The Gunners went head to head with the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2019.

But it was Unai Emery who came out on top by landing the Scotland international from Celtic for £25million.
Now, though, The Telegraph report Napoli are plotting to go back in for Tierney.
It is thought they have made the 23-year-old their long-term target as the solution at left-back.
A January switch is unlikely, meaning Napoli hope to secure a short-term fix before a summer swoop.

Taking Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri on a six-month loan until the end of the season could be one option the Naples side consider.
However, it would take a big bid to convince Arsenal to sell Tierney – especially with Sead Kolasinac’s career in North London seemingly over.
After an injury-hit first season, the Scot is now settled at the Emirates and is a key player under Mikel Arteta.
Tierney has missed just one Premier League game so far this season and his standout performances in recent weeks coincide with the club’s upturn in form.

He particularly shone in the 4-0 thumping of West Brom – scoring a beauty and adding an assist at the Hawthorns.
That came after the rock-solid Tierney famously warmed up in the Midlands snowstorm then played in just shorts and a short-sleeve t-shirt, despite many of his team-mates wearing tights.
