Arsenal interested in Ismael Doukoure with 17-year-old Valenciennes defender also being tracked by Leicester

ARSENAL are reportedly one of three clubs that are keen to sign Valenciennes starlet Ismael Doukoure in the summer.The 17-year-old centre-back only made his professional debut in October, but he has impressed for the Ligue 2 outfit where has has featured in 15 games.

Doukoure has started the last six league games for the French club having become a key player for Olivier Guegan’s side.
And his performances haven’t went unnoticed, with Foot Mercato claiming the teenager could be set to depart Stade du Hainaut at the end of the season.
They state that the Gunners are eyeing up a move for the defender, who has been likened to the club’s former target Dayot Upamecano.
Arsenal were known to be long-term admirers of the RB Leipzig star, but have missed out on his securing his services after he agreed to join Bayern Munich.
And the North Londoners could miss out on Doukoure’s signature if they don’t act fast, with Leicester understood to be monitoring his progress.
The Foxes dipped into the French market last year to lure Wesley Fofana away from St-Etienne, and they could look to raid one of the country’s top prospects again.
Foot Mercato have also declared that Ligue 1 side Strasbourg are aiming to keep him in France, with the club already approaching the player about a possible move.
Doukoure joined Valenciennes from Lille on 2017, and was rewarded with a three-year deal last summer.

Arsenal already boast a number of centre-halves in their ranks, and are set to welcome back William Saliba and Dinos Mavropanos when their loan spells come to an end.
Big things are expected of Saliba at the Emirates, who is yet to make his debut despite joining the side in 2019.
And Gunners fans are desperate for Mavropanos to challenge for a place in the starting XI after starring at Stuttgart this season.
The 23-year-old made his Greece international debut on Sunday as a reward for his fine form, as he helped the Euro 2004 champions beat Honduras 2-1.

Plenty of scouts are likely to have been watching the 21-year-old in action with as many as five teams ready to wrestle over his signature.
According to Calcio Mercato, Arsenal are joined by Roma, RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan in monitoring Vlahovic.
The Gunners are set to continue their squad overhaul at the end of the season with high-earning fringe players such as Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi already cut.
Fresh attacking talent may be a top priority with Martin Odegaard set to leave when his loan ends, and Nabil Fekir is another player linked.
Vlahovic signed for Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in 2018 and emerged as a leading light under Cesare Prandelli this season.
The Italian coach’s recent exit from the club, citing personal difficulties with managing the role, came after huge praise from his star forward.

Vlahovic explained: “I’ve said many times that I cannot describe with words what I owe to Prandelli. He arrived when I was in a bad period of form, he gave me confidence and I must repay his faith in me.”
Before his resignation, Prandelli heaped praise on the youngster.
The 63-year-old said: “This is the most delicate moment of Dusan’s career, because people expect things from him now.
“He has to keep it simple and focus on the basics.
“He’s certainly motivated, I practically have to push him off the pitch, as he would like to stay there for hours. I think it’s the kind of pressure he can deal with.”
Former Fiorentina star Valeri Bojinov has been impressed by Vlahovic for many years, and claimed the player previously likened himself to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The ex-striker told Transfermarkt, via Football Italia: “I told [then-Fiorentina chief Pantaleo] Corvino to sign Vlahovic when he was 15 or 16.
“Vlahovic was crazy, really crazy. He used to tell me, ‘I am a Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Belgrade, I will play for the strongest clubs’.
“I liked his arrogance. I thought he would become a strong player.”

Manager Mikel Arteta appears keen on keeping the attacking midfielder on a permanent basis but Los Blancos have yet to decide whether he is part of their plans for next season.
According to Goal, the two clubs have decided to wait until the end of the season before holding talks over a possible permanent deal involving the 22-year-old.
Arsenal are reportedly worried that his parent club will demand a staggering fee of £50million once they return to the negotiation table.
The Gunners also fear stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea, who could hijack their star man in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keeping tabs on the Norway international but Real may not be keen on selling him at all.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has advised his former club to axe the Norwegian from the first team until they secure a permanent deal.
Merson said: “Martin Odegaard looks a really good player and I hope Arsenal have a chance of signing him permanently.
“Because if they don’t have a chance of making his loan permanent next season, why is he playing?
“If they know he doesn’t want to stay, he shouldn’t be playing because he’s taking opportunities away from people like Emile Smith Rowe.
“So I hope Arsenal have done their homework and know what the situation is – I’d be disappointed if they haven’t already made a bid to be honest.”

The centre-back has put together a raft of impressive displays for the Bundesliga side, earning an international call-up by Greece manager John van’t Schip.
The 23-year-old finally made his international debut in Sunday’s international friendly against Honduras and played 90 minutes for his country, who won 2-1 thanks to a brace by Willem ace Vangelis Pavlidis.
Arsenal fans watched Mavropanos’ bow for Greece and were so impressed that they now see him as someone that can improve their error-prone defence next season.
One supporter took to Twitter and called on the north Londoners not to cash in on the talented defender: “This is someone we really shouldn’t sell.”
Another fan claims Mavropanos should stay: “We have some assets if we truly want to sell and rebuild in the summer. I wish he stays though.”
A third recognises the Greece ace’s immense improvement: “This guy’s improvement has been great, we should definitely [keep] an eye on him.”
This Arsenal faithful insists Mavropanos should get a chance next season under manager Mikel Arteta: “He deserves a chance when he’s back from loan.”

And another fan is confident he hasn’t seen the last of the Greece international: “Think he’ll play for us next season.”
Mavropanos was rock-solid at the back throughout the friendly encounter with Honduras and left plenty of promise for Greece ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
He has made a total of 16 appearances for Stuttgart across all competitions this season and has become a regular for the Bundesliga outfit.

The Gunners hoped to sign Fekir from Lyon in 2018, and also showed interest in him a year ago.
Boss Mikel Arteta is now understood to favour a summer move for the Lyon-born ace if Arsenal are unable to make Martin Odegaard’s loan move from Real Madrid permanent.
World Cup winner Fekir has amassed 25 caps, but has recently been left out of France’s senior squad.
He is tempted to raise his profile with a move away from Seville-based Betis to the Premier League.
Fekir has just signed for a new agency, Promoesport, which also handles the interests of Manchester United’s Eric Bailly and Wolves ace Adama Traore.
The winger has an eye-watering £79million release clause in his contract.
However Betis would accept a far lower sum, having paid Lyon just £19m for the forward in 2019.

Seville sports daily Estadio Deportivo claims both Arsenal and Barcelona are eager to sign Fekir.

Goals against Tottenham and Olympiacos, as well as a starring role in the comeback draw with West Ham, have made him an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
It is said that the Premier League side are very open to the idea of keeping Odegaard past the summer.
But, according to Madrid publication Marca, Real are not contemplating a sale.
Zinedine Zidane gave the Norwegian his first run in the team at the start of the campaign but a knee issue and a lack of match action hindered his form.
With the coach unable to guarantee a regular role post-January, he was allowed to leave but no purchase option was agreed as part of his loan.
Madrid reportedly want to provide Odegaard with a fresh crack at proving himself at the Bernabeu.
The 22-year-old, who was signed as a teen prodigy in 2015 and excelled at Real Sociedad last term, accepted a pandemic pay cut before heading for North London.
And he is thought to be determined to prove himself at the Bernabeu, even if he is thoroughly enjoying his time with Arsenal.

The Lyon ace was heavily linked with a switch to Arsenal last summer, only for the club to prioritise the signing of Thomas Partey instead.
And that decision could cost them with Juve believed to be interested in him to potentially replace Dybala.

It’s been reported that Barcelona must pay Liverpool another £17m if the Brazilian plays 100 games – a target he’s 10 shy of – which could encourage the cash-strapped Spaniards to sell.

The Aston Villa skipper continues to be linked with a big-money move away from the Midlands, with Manchester City the latest side to register an interest in him.

Speaking in November, he said: “Grealish, amazing. It seems like he could be a player that Arsenal missed.
“With his ability, he was one of the guys in the middle who can play beautiful football. He controls the ball, assists and can score goals.

Odegaard – who limped out of Norway’s 3-0 World Cup qualifying win against Gibraltar on Wednesday – has featured in 12 games for Arsenal since January.
But the North London giants failed to secure an option to buy in their agreement with Los Blancos, however Wright is desperate to see him remain at the Emirates.
The 57-year-old is a huge fan of the playmaker’s quick thinking, passing and his ability to get himself out of trouble thanks to his dribbling.
And Wright has also stated that Odegaard brings good vibes and energy to Arsenal, as well as boasting immense quality.
Speaking on Ringer FC’s Wrighty’s House podcast, he said: “Watching Odegaard play for Arsenal, I’m so happy and I’m so sad.
“Simply because when you look at Odegaard’s contribution, and I was thinking with this West Ham game, it’s going to be different, he’s got [Thomas] Soucek and [Declan] Rice.
“He’s going to be playing in that area where he has got some real ballers with him, and I said before the game, I want to see how he does, and not only does he excel, we go 3-0 down, and the man is literally just showing up.
“On the half-turn, his quick thinking, his passes, as soon as he gets it, he already knows what he’s doing. We have to find a way to sign him. I don’t know how it’s going to happen. He’s the one.

“For him to come to the Premier League, we’re talking about a guy who looks very slight but he doesn’t get himself in that traffic and trouble.
“He did a move the other day where he got the ball on his left foot and he’s coming back towards his own goal, then he turned sharply on his left foot and went back around West Ham’s box and passed it to the right.
“You’re thinking that’s the quality and composure Arsenal need. Arteta must be on the sideline thinking, ‘oh my god, this is what I need, this is the guy’.
“His contract runs out in 2023 with Madrid, we’re going through a spell where there’s not a lot of money about, Madrid need money, if Zidane stays there can you see him putting Odegaard in his team?
“You’re thinking to yourself if he carries on playing like he is, because we’re looking at Modric and Kroos and they’re going to have to get replaced by someone at some stage now.
“Whether that’s Odegaard or they might sell Odegaard to finance getting somebody else. When you look at him, this is serious business with Odegaard, this is a player we need, and I don’t know how they’re going to do that.
“For me, I think £45million to £50m, even though we’re talking about someone who’s been on loan to Holland, Spain and now here, he’s played a handful of games but he looks so impressive.
