And it has been reported that the club want to secure Smith Rowe’s future as well as sign a new central playmaker.
According to The Athletic, the 20-year-old is being lined up to follow in Folarin Balogun’s footsteps and commit his long-term future to Arsenal.
Academy graduate Smith Rowe has played 31 times for the Gunners this season, scoring five goals, and is currently tied down to 2023.
He played the full 90 minutes of Friday’s defeat to Everton, a game loanee Odegaard played only a small part of as he returns from injury.
Arsenal are thought to want the Norwegian on a permanent basis but will not be flushed with cash unless they can qualify for the Champions League.
In any case, Real Madrid are reportedly very keen on seeing the 22-year-old return to Spain next season and finally take a leading role in their side.
Arsenal have let £163.5m worth of signings quit for free since January 2018
Mikel Arteta admitted last week that leaning too heavily on young forwards Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka will not do the team any favours.
Julian Brandt is one player linked with moving to North London as the Gunners assess their options for the upcoming market.
Arteta said: “They know that playing every game is impossible, so we have to change those stats.
“That’s what we have to do. We have to find that solution.

“It tells a lot about what has happened this season.
“Eight months ago, if anybody had said we were going to rely so much on these two guys to get a result, you would have said we were not going to be in a strong position.
“That is our reality as well. We have to change that reality because it doesn’t go in our favour.”

Arsenal ‘approve Hector Bellerin transfer’ with PSG ‘best placed’ to sign £22m defender ahead of Barcelona

A huge overhaul of Mikel Arteta’s playing squad begun last year and could see the club cashing in on Bellerin.
The right-back arrived as an academy starlet from Barcelona in 2011 and has gone on to make almost 250 appearances for the Gunners.
But, according to Spanish publication Sport, he is ready for a new challenge.
And Arsenal are described as willing to sell Bellerin, 26, if negotiations with PSG are successful.
Les Parisiens have reportedly enquired about the defender to his agent with the hope of reducing the £22m asking price.
The right-back spot has been identified as an area of improvement for Les Parisiens.
Roma loanee Alessandro Florenzi and Colin Dagba have been rotated in the position this season, although PSG are set to sign the Italian on a permanent basis for £8m.
Barcelona have long been rumoured to be interested in their former player but are well-stocked in that department with Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be able to fall back on Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares if Bellerin leaves.
Chambers has made a strong comeback from a long-term knee injury to appear in four of the last six Premier League games.
Arteta is thought to be prioritising recruiting a left-back in the coming summer, to provide an alternative to Kieran Tierney.

Arsenal outcast Ainsley Maitland-Niles wanted by Leeds and Crystal Palace in summer transfer after West Brom loan

AINSLEY MAITLAND-NILES has reportedly caught the eye of Leeds and Crystal Palace while on loan at West Brom.In the Baggies’ bid to beat the drop, the England international has not missed a minute of football since arriving in February.

And his performances have caught the eye of other Premier League clubs, as well as Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the Mirror, Palace and Leeds are monitoring the situation with Maitland-Niles’ Arsenal deal expiring in 2023.
Whether Mikel Arteta sees a space in the squad for the midfielder next season remains to be seen.
The 23-year-old opted for West Brom despite their relegation battle for a chance to play in the centre of the park.
While the Gunners have often switched their academy product to the flanks, a position he does not see himself in long-term.
Palace are thought to be plotting an overhaul of their aging squad in the summer, with manager Roy Hodgson’s contract up.

And Leeds will aim to add further quality to Marcelo Bielsa’s side with SunSport revealing their interest in Rangers star Ryan Kent.
Maitland-Niles has enjoyed the switch from working under Arteta to Sam Allardyce.
The Baggies boss was recently described by the player as ‘very direct and very honest’, with Allardyce providing his take on how he can improve.
He said: “[Maitland-Niles] wants to play in midfield for us, he’s got the energy to do and he has excellent ability with both feet.
Ainsley needs to be adding assists and goals – that is what he needs to keep working on.Sam Allardyce

“There’s got to be a better finishing quality about him.
“Like any attacking midfielder who plays box to box, he needs to be making assists and scoring goals – that is what he needs to keep working on.
“But by him not playing often enough in midfield, that is something that will hopefully come to him quickly.
“His overall game I’m very pleased with, hopefully he’ll just get a bit better.”

Lucas Torreira again begs Arsenal to let him join Boca Juniors after death of his mum and suggests loan transfer

LUCAS TORREIRA has again pleaded with Arsenal to let him join Boca Juniors and suggested the Gunners could sanction a one-year loan deal. The Uruguayan midfielder is desperate to return to South America after the death of his 53-year-old mother from Covid-19.

The 25-year-old is on loan at Atletico Madrid but is pushing for a move to the Argentine side after what he describes as two unhappy years in his career.
In his latest bid to quit Europe, Torreira told YouTube channel Perfil Bulos: “I want to go to Boca Juniors now.
“I am 25 years old and I know it’s a club that plays for great targets.
“I’d like to make the fans happy… but I know it’s not easy.
“Boca should reach an agreement with Arsenal for a one-year loan.”
Last week Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said it was ‘not the moment’ to sell Torreira after his emotional request.
The Spaniard said: “We have spoken to him and we know how difficult a time this is for him. He was really attached to his mum and he’s really attached to his family.
“It’s a hard time for him and emotionally there is a lot of thoughts that will go through his mind. When things are like that, it’s not the moment to make decisions.

“I understand how he’s feeling emotionally. He probably feels the need and responsibility to be closer to his family.
“But it’s not the moment to make any decisions and it certainly is a decision that has to be made by different parties. Now, nothing is going to change. It’s just an interview with some comments. Let’s see what happens.
“We know that when you recruit a player from a foreign country, when they have that struggle sometimes to adapt to a new culture, a new language, a new way of doing things.
“This risk is there and then you have to be able to manage that risk and make the right decisions at the right time.”

Reports suggested the Gunners would let Torreira leave in the summer for a cut-price £15million having signed him for £26m in 2018.
But the latest speculation suggested a move to Boca was ‘unlikely’ and Torreira could be stuck.
According to local media TyC Sports, Arsenal are willing to allow Torreira to move on loan, but would demand a £1m fee and expect his £75,000-a-week wages to be paid in full.
Torreira grew up in Fray Bentos, close to the Argentine border, and supported Boca as a boy.
