    WRIGH OH WHY
Arsenal legend Ian Wright revealed his dismay at the stark contrast between his old club and Leicester’s heartwarming FA Cup glory.
The Foxes lifted the trophy for the first time on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Chelsea in front of 21,000 fans at Wembley.
And Wright told BBC Sport that the moment was ‘magnificent’ – but left him with a touch of ‘jealousy’ as a Gooner.
The ex-striker, 57, said: “I tell you what, look at him with the players, with the manager.
“The jealousy I feel, knowing an owner can be like that… Honestly, it breaks my heart.
“I’m absolutely delighted for Leicester and him. Magnificent, magnificent. Brilliant.”

“If he keeps working hard, keeps his cool and is disciplined, I think he might play for top clubs in Europe.
“Going to Arsenal or Real Madrid depends on him. I think he has the quality. If he has the mindset, I think he can make it.
“He has to continue to do his best for his club and hopefully the bigger clubs will come one day knocking at the door.”
    WILL I NEVER
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed Arsenal will demand around £30m before they even consider selling Joe Willock this summer.
Speaking on the Arsenal Lounge, he said: “Arsenal are not going to accept €15 million or €12 million or €20 million.
“They want around €30 million, €35 million to start negotiations. Let’s see if they can find an agreement.”

Nicolas Pepe could reportedly depart Arsenal in the summer should they receive a suitable offer.
Commenting on his future, Fabrizio Romano told the Arsenal Lounge: “The feeling around the player is that Arsenal will try again with him, will try with Arteta also to build this consideration in Europe and let’s see what happens next season.
“But if an important bid will arrive Arsenal are open to consider, but at the moment it’s really difficult to have this money for this player.”
    ‘WIDER IMPLICATIONS’
Arsenal have spoken to Mohamed Elneny about his pro-Palestinian social media post.
“As with any employees of Arsenal, our players are entitled to express their views on their own platforms,” the club told Sky Sports News.

“As a club we are committed to confronting and eliminating all forms of discrimination and continue to champion the need for equality and diversity across all areas of life.”
    OUT OF TUNE
Ian Wright threatened to walk off from BBC’s FA Cup final coverage after Gary Lineker aired his 1993 music video.
Wright joked about leaving after his timeless attempt at pop stardom was shown on TV.
Wright joked: “No! Why are you showing this? I’m going, I’m not staying, get it off!”
Lineker returned the favour on Wright after footage of the BBC presenter’s awkward dancing and miming along in an England Euro 88 song.

Youri Tielemans glorious strike gave Leicester FA Cup final glory at the fifth attempt as Chelsea had a last-minute goal controversially ruled out on VAR.
Tielemans hit a 25-yard top-corner special on 63 minutes – before the video assistant referee adjudged Blues’ sub Ben Chilwell millimetres offside when his cross was deflected home by Foxes’ sub Wes Morgan.

    NO SALE
Arsenal have denied receiving a takeover approach from the club legend consortium led by Spotify founder Daniel Ek.
The Swedish billionaire, 38, has claimed to be formulating a £1.8million bid to buy the Premier League side from unpopular owner Stan Kroenke.
Fan protests against the American have escalated since the Gunners’ attempt to join the doomed European Super League.
Arsenal supporter Ek promptly announced his intention to buy the club with the help of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.
But a spokesperson for the North London outfit has denied receiving any official approach.
Kroenke Sports Entertainment insist they have no intention of letting the club go despite the fan fury.

Campbell, who won 73 caps for the Three Lions, previously bossed Macclesfield and Southend.
Boothroyd is leaving this summer when his contract expires after presiding over a second successive group-stage exit from the Euros.

“I think that we’ve got young players coming through who should get an opportunity in front of Ceballos.
“If he’s going to do anything to stay at Arsenal it would’ve been seen already by now.”
Wright has not been convinced by Ceballos during his time at the Emirates and believes the club should put their faith in younger players.

Nicolas Pepe could reportedly depart Arsenal in the summer should they receive a suitable offer.
The Ivorian winger is in his second season at the Emirates, where he has chipped in with 12 goals and five assists in 45 games in all competitions.
But he has yet to justify his £72million price tag, with the ex-Lille ace failing to nail down a regular starting spot under Mikel Arteta.
Commenting on his future, Fabrizio Romano told the Arsenal Lounge: “The feeling around the player is that Arsenal will try again with him, will try with Arteta also to build this consideration in Europe and let’s see what happens next season.

Arsenal defender Dinos Mavropanos could extend his stay at Stuttgart beyond the summer IF he is not in boss Mikel Arteta’s plans going forward.

Stuttgart manager Pellegrino Matarazzo loves him, and said: “He’s our gladiator!
“He’s a monster in terms of physique. And when he makes a mistake, he hums around some Greek swear words. I like that. He’s just a tough dog.”
The praise of Mavropanos didn’t just come from manager Matarazzo.

Arsenal are reportedly ready to bring a handful of players to the club in the summer, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on the Arsenal Lounge YouTube channel, he said: “I can guarantee you 100 per cent that they are working on some positions in particular.
“Right-back, centre-back, midfielder and number 10, if Odegaard will leave, since February. So they are already talking with people, with agents and with clubs to be prepared.
“The market this summer will be particular, as always when we have the Euros or the World Cup, the summer will be the end of May or the start of June, they will start something and I expect Arsenal to do something at the beginning of the market.
“At the beginning of the market, Arsenal will be ready to do something, let’s see if it will be the right-back, the absolute priority is at right-back at the moment, that and the midfield.
“So I expect that at the beginning of the market they will be close to signing two players in these positions.”

    TRANSFER BATTLE
Arsenal will reportedly go toe-to-toe with bitter rivals Tottenham to sign Lyon defender Joachim Andersen.
Anderson, 24, spent the season on loan with the recently-relegated Fulham but impressed in what was a disappointing campaign for the Cottagers.
The centre-back’s displays for the west Londoners are said to have caught the eye of Arsenal, who are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements following a dismal season.
But they’re also said to have impressed the Gunners’ north London neighbours Tottenham.
And according to The Daily Telegraph, Spurs are ‘in pole position’ to sign the Denmark international.
It’s been reported Tottenham are willing to splash out close to £35million to add Andersen to their collection of centre-backs.

    TAKE XHAK
Arsenal star Granit Xhaka is reportedly seeking an exit away from the Emirates in the summer.
The Gunners midfielder could be on of a number of players that could depart North London in what looks set to be a busy window for the Gunners.
According to The Athletic, the Swiss international ‘intends’ to leave the club he has been at since 2016.
Xhaka has arguably been Arsenal’s most consistent midfielder this season.
Should he depart, Arsenal could replace him with either Yves Bissouma or Sander Berge.
    RYAN AIR
Leicester have joined Arsenal in the bidding war over the departing Southampton ace Ryan Bertrand.
Bertrand confirmed on Wednesday that he will be leaving St Mary’s once his contract expires on June 30 and a raft of clubs have reportedly shown interest.
West Ham and Crystal Palace are said to be keeping tabs on the left-back, who will be available for a free transfer in the summer, and the same also goes for Arsenal.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers and manager Mikel Arteta is believed to still be keen on the 31-year-old.
According to the Evening Standard, the same goes for Leicester, who were linked with Bertrand last year.
Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers was reportedly open to reuniting with the player he worked with during his time at Chelsea’s coaching staff.
    NOT THE MAINE MAN
Jermaine Jenas believes it is right for Arsenal not to offer David Luiz a new contract.
The Brazilian defender will depart the Emirates after two seasons when his deal expires at the end of the season.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live if he is surprised about the news, Jenas said: “Probably not.
“Making 30 appearances I wouldn’t have thought it’s based on his age, I know he has had more injuries than he would have liked this year.
“I think Arsenal do need to start rebuilding. I would imagine David Luiz is one of the higher earners at that football club.
“And I think it’s a smart move from them to free up some cash and go a bit younger and try and start that rebuild essentially.”

Yorkshire Live refuted claims that the Norwegian could be available for a cut-price £12m after the Blades dropped out of the Premier League.
Berge is still £10m cheaper than United’s original £45m asking price due to a relegation clause in his contract with the future Championship outfit.
Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked with moves for the 23-year-old, who has just returned to action following a lengthy injury.
The 23-year-old appeared in the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday in his first start since suffering a hamstring problem back in December.
The Norway international became United’s club-record signing at £22million when he joined from Genk in January 2020.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka ‘wants to leave club this summer’ with keeper Bernd Leno also looking for transfer

GRANIT XHAKA and Bernd Leno are among a string of Arsenal players set to leave this summer, reports say. Xhaka has been a vital part of manager Mikel Arteta’s reign, playing as a central partner for Thomas Partey and also as a makeshift left-back.
Granit Xhaka and and Bernd Leno reportedly want to leave this summer
And keeper Leno has been the Gunners No1 since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018.
But according to The Athletic, Arsenal staff are growing concerned the experienced pair will push for a transfer in the summer.
And it gets worse, with defender David Luiz, 34, and striker Alexandre Lacazette, 29, also facing uncertain futures.
Luiz, signed from Chelsea in 2019, has been in and out of Arteta’s starting 11 this season, having also battled injuries as his deal expires this summer.
But with William Saliba, 20, set to return from his successful loan with Nice, Arsenal are comfortable they will have a ready-made replacement at centre-back.
And should Lacazette, whose contract expires next summer, decide to also depart, the Gunners have strength in depth going forward.
But they would be forced into recruitment if ex-skipper Xhaka, 28, and stopper Leno, 29, leave.
Arteta’s decision to bring in goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana has also been questioned after his recommendation of back-up keeper Alex Runarsson.

Runarsson, 26, failed to impress when called up to replace Leno and the club later swooped for Mat Ryan, 29, on a free from Brighton.
The report also states Hector Bellerin, 26, and Willian, 32, are also ready to go.
Bellerin has faced a spell on the bench in recent weeks with growing speculation linking him with a move away.
And Willian, who joined from Chelsea on a free, has failed to hit the heights he once showed on the Blue side of London.
With only ONE goal this season, the Brazilian forward has been overlooked on either wing following the emergence of Arsenal’s young forwards.

According to the Evening Standard, Leicester have renewed their interest after being linked with Bertrand last year.
Brendan Rodgers, who worked with him during his time at Chelsea’s coaching staff, said last year: “Ryan’s a player I know very well. We took him into Chelsea at 16 and he’s had a brilliant career.

“There have been games where I watched him and thought I would have hated to play against him. He’s got all the attributes.
“But there are other times when he gets into what I would call ‘Arsenal mode’.
“I don’t want to see him like that, I want to see him high energy in that midfield running games. Next season that is what he needs to do.
“He needs to come into next season absolutely flying because his performances have been too up and down for my liking.
“But next year we will see the real Thomas Partey.”

    THROWBACK
Arsenal’s new away kit for next season is inspired by the away kit from 1971!

‘I think that we’ve got young players coming through who should get an opportunity in front of Ceballos.

The 23-year-old has impressed whilst on loan in Germany, and could prove a money saver if Arteta was to keep him and use him.
Sporting director Sven Mislintat weighed in saying: “He (Mavropanos) says very clearly – if he doesn’t play a role in Arsenal’s planning, he wants to stay with us.”

The stylish yellow jersey, made by Adidas, is inspired by the Gunners’ triumph in the 1971 FA Cup.
And it also features a new club crest featuring just the iconic cannon – the first change in 31 years.
The shirt will remind older fans of Arsenal’s incredible Double in 1971, when they won both the league title and FA Cup. As for the cannon, the last time it was used by Arsenal was on their away kit between 1988 and 1990.
And it will be the first time it is used as the club’s badge in the Premier League era.

    WILL I NEVER
Newcastle have been given a boost in their quest to permanently sign Joe Willock with Arsenal reportedly willing to sell him for £20million.
The 21-year-old has starred during his loan spell at St James’ Park since joining during the winter transfer window.
Willock has been instrumental in helping the Magpies avoid relegation having fired in five Premier League goals in 11 games.
Four of those strikes have come in his last five outings, having found the back of the net in the draws against Tottenham and Liverpool, and wins against West Ham and Leicester.
And according to the Telegraph, the Gunners expect to part ways with the England international in the summer. The North Londoners believe they can offload the midfielder for £20m due to his fine form.

    GOOD MORNING GOONERS
Arsenal are reportedly close to finalising a new five-year deal with Emile Smith Rowe.
Fabrizio Romano claims an agreement is near with all parties ‘optimistic’ it can be completed soon.
Smith Rowe, 20, is also said to be ‘happy’ under Mikel Arteta and ready to commit the next stage of his career to the Gunners after a stellar season.
The versatile attacking midfielder has played 31 times in all competitions this term, scoring four goals.
Smith Rowe’s latest strike came in last night’s 1-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners are set for a hectic summer and former defender Ashley Cole has called for the big bucks to be spent.
He said: “They need to invest if they want to go to the next step and play the Arsenal way, that quick, enjoyable football to watch.

    FIN LINE
Real Betis favourite Finidi George has told Nabil Fekir to keep working hard if he wants to earn a move to Arsenal.
Previously linked with the Gunners and Liverpool, Fekir has hit four goals for Betis this season.
And ex-Nigeria international George told Tribal Football: “Nabil is young and he is a good player.
    FULL-TIME AT OLD TRAFFORD
Liverpool have claimed a 4-2 win over Manchester United, in a blow to Arsenal’s European football bid.
Roberto Firmino’s double, plus goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah, cap a comeback win to put the Reds within a shout of a top four finish.
But they are now five points clear of Arsenal, who only have two left to play, making fifth place all but over for the Gunners.

    ‘JOKE CLUB’
Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has launched a scathing attack on Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he dubbed the Gunners a ‘joke club’ who are going ‘backwards’ because of those at the top of the organisation.
Jordan remarked: “The fact of the matter is that despite advancing the thought that Mikel Arteta was going to be a good manager, by people like me… I’m beginning to think that’s unwinding
“But I also think the reason for that is that Arsenal are a joke football club right now, in lots of ways.
“They’ve got an owner who is disengaged and happy with mediocrity. A director of football who I don’t think is pulling up any trees. And a manager who sounds good on paper, but when it comes down to it, I’m not sure he’s got the chops to do what Arsenal need him to do.
“Arsenal have just gone in a self-appointed organisation of the top six clubs… but they’ve worked their way backwards in the league and they are now a big club in image and reputation alone, because they are not a big club in any other department right now.”
    STILL INTER YOU
Thomas Partey is being eyed by Serie A champions Inter Milan, according to reports.
Spanish site Fichajes reckon Antonio Conte is a huge fan of the midfielder and could be considering a summer swoop.
    HART TO ART
Mikel Arteta has been backed to keep his job despite a ‘disappointing’ season.
Former Arsenal striker John Hartson has credited the coach with improving over the course of the campaign with the win over Chelsea an example of his progress.
The Welshman told PA Media: “I’m not saying he has had a great season because it’s been disappointing. But he’s a young manager and there have been some positives and improvements as well.
“The club made the decision to bring him in and I think they’ll back him. I think that’s the right thing to do.
“I know people are suggesting he’s not experienced enough, but he’s made some big calls in terms of leaving players out. He’s shown that steeliness you need when you become a manager.
“He showed again at Chelsea that he can win the big games when Arsenal are disciplined and defend properly.”

    DON’T ZETTE ON IT
Alexandre Lacazette could be sold in the summer as Arsenal reportedly consider cashing in on the striker.
Despite a strong season in front of goal, the Frenchman may be let go ahead of his contract expiring in 2022.
According to the Telegraph, he is ‘unlikely’ to be offered a new deal by the Gunners.
    FULL-TIME AT VILLA PARK
A 0-0 draw between Aston Villa and Everton drops Arsenal into ninth place.
The Toffees nudge up a position but will be ruing a missed opportunity to gain major ground in the race for Europe.

    AUBA IT
Glenn Hoddle has backed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his glum reaction to being substituted last night.
The striker cut a forlorn figure after being subbed in the 79th minute, and former midfielder and manager Hoddle insisted it was far better than him being delighted.
He said: “I wouldn’t be to bothered about that.
“I’d be absolutely distraught if I’ve got a smiling player coming off the pitch. That would concern me and say he doesn’t care enough, he’s happy to come off.
“You want that, they’ll be alright.
“Tactically I thought it was the right thing to do from the manager’s point of view he got it spot on. If it was 0-0 at half-time Arsenal wouldn’t have played like that but they had something to hold on to.”

    WRIGHT ON THE MONEY
Ian Wright has admitted that he does not trust Arsenal to sign Martin Odegaard permanently.
In discussing the busy summer ahead for the club, the ex-striker told Premier League Productions that the signing of Willian shows the Gunners transfer department is flawed.
He said: “You say who’s vulnerable, you look at [Lucas] Torreira and [Matteo] Guendouzi, Joe Willock is doing very well at Newcastle, [William] Saliba’s doing well as well.
“You look at it and you think to yourself those players, every one of them apart from [Konstantinos] Mavropanos who’s not really had a chance [and] Saliba, maybe those players should be where they are.
“I’d like to see Joe Willock get an opportunity but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
“Odegaard is somebody who I’d like to see sign, but at the same time the people who are going to oversee who’s coming in and who’s going out are unfortunately the same people who signed Willian for three years.”

    EMILE A MINUTE
Arsenal’s winner last night came from a training ground routine designed to push opponents into making mistakes, Emile Smith Rowe has revealed.
The young midfielder hit the only goal of the game at Stamford Bridge after a poor backpass from Jorginho was snapped up.
And he told Sky Sports: “We worked on that in training this week, the pressing, the high pressing, so I feel like we did well to make them make a mistake and then Auba set me up.
“This happens sometimes, I’m happy it went in, but it was a lucky finish.
“It means so much to score for this fantastic club. I just want to keep pushing on now.”
    MONTEMURRO LEAVES
Joe Montemurro has officially left his role as manager of Arsenal Women.

    ARTETA DELIGHTED WITH WIN
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has expressed his delight at last night’s 1-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Arteta said: “[It was a] Great win.
“It shows how tough it is to come here and win against a fantastic team. I think what Thomas [Tuchel] is doing is great. They have so much quality, really good organisation and make it really difficult for you.
“From the beginning, we showed that we were coming here to try to win with the right spirit, with the right attitude, we showed moments of real quality as well.
“We got the goal and then we had to defend in long periods. To do that, you have to be really committed and resilient. We needed some luck and we had it tonight.”
    WHAT IS THE CONFERENCE LEAGUE?
Should Arsenal finish in seventh, they will most likely qualify for the inaugural edition of the Europa Conference League.
But what is Uefa’s new tertiary competition?
The ECL will run alongside the Champions League and Europa League.
It is designed to let even more clubs across the continent experience European football.
Whichever English team qualifies will enter at the Play-Off round before a familiar looking Group Stage.
The competition will be held on Thursday nights throughout the season, culminating in a final on May 25, 2022, in Albania.
    AMN LATEST
Manchester United are interested in a shock transfer for Ainsley Maitland-Niles, according to reports.
The Arsenal academy graduate, 23, has spent the second half of this season on loan at West Brom.
And despite the Baggies getting relegated, the England international impressed with his performances under Sam Allardyce.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are considering an approach to Arsenal when he returns to his parent club.
However, the report adds they would face competition from three other Premier League sides – Everton, Leeds and Southampton.

    WAS THIS A GOOD SAVE?
Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno kept a clean sheet last night in their 1-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners’ social media team have highlighted this save from the German stopper – but was it actually any good?
    You decide…

    SPL-ASH THE CASH
Ashley Cole has told Arsenal they MUST invest big in players this summer to take ‘the next step’.
The Gunners face a battle to bag a Europa League spot this season, but a 1-0 away win at Chelsea on Wednesday put themselves firmly back in the frame.
Speaking before the Chelsea victory, the 40-year-old said: “When Mikel Arteta came into the job he definitely shored up the defence, he really got that defensive shape and organisation.
“But now, in the middle third and the final third, I think they’ve been lacking that sharpness, that real quality and intensity to go and grab a game.
“I just think they’ve struggled. As I mentioned, big players have not turned up.
Next season will they invest? They need to invest if they want to go to the next step and play the Arsenal way, that quick, enjoyable football to watch.
    “They need changes.”

    HOLDING HAPPY WITH WIN
Rob Holding has expressed his delight at Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Chelsea.
The defender told the club’s official website: “I managed to block everything, head everything that came my way.
“We just sort of defended first and then anything we could do with the ball, we did.
“It’s nice to get a double over Chelsea for the season. We got a good one at home and then it’s nice to grind out a result here.”
Holding is also hoping the Gunners can end the season strongly.
He continued: “We owe the fans a lot after this season.
“We’ve let them down a few times, so if we can wrap up some points, wrap up some wins and give them something to look forward to going into next season.”
    SIMA SOON
Slavia Prague forward Abdallah Sima is keen on a move to the Premier League, according to the Evening Standard.
The 19-year-old, who’s scored 11 league goals this season, is believed to be a target for Arsenal and West Ham.
Reports suggest the Czech club want £50million for the player, although they are expected to accept a smaller bid.
Sima has one senior cap for Senegal.

    ‘PLAYS WITH COURAGE’
Arsenal’s ‘shining light’ Bukayo Saka is being ‘used and abused’ by Mikel Arteta, according to Ashley Cole.
And the former Gunner thinks Saka’s versatility might hold him back from becoming a ‘top, top player’.
Speaking on Sky, Cole said: “As Jamie [Redknapp] says, [he’s] a shining light in this Arsenal team. He plays with courage, [he’s] fearless at times.
“But I just feel when you don’t cement down one position, it’s very, very difficult to nail that down and be a top, top player.
“As a manager, you love it because he’s adaptable and he can play in three or four positions, which is brilliant.
“But I feel for him at times because I think he’s kind of used and abused.”

    BISSOUMA TO UNITED – WRIGHT
Ian Wright believes Yves Bissouma should join Manchester United – and not his beloved Arsenal.
The £30million-rated midfielder has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Brighton.
He’s been linked with a move to United, Liverpool and the Gunners.
Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, the Arsenal legend said: “Bissouma’s making it clear now he wants to leave.
“You’ve got to choose between Liverpool and Man United in the current climate.
“I’m probably going to go with Man United… You look at Man United and what Man United are on the cusp of doing, it’s a much more attractive proposition right now, much more.”
    GUNNING FOR BERGE
Arsenal are serious about signing Sheffield United’s Sander Berge, according to Yorkshire Live.
The 23-year-old midfielder needs to find another club if wishes to stay in the Premier League following the Blades’ relegation to the Championship.
Mikel Arteta’s assistant, Albert Stuivenberg, previously coached the Norway international at Genk.
It is believed Arsenal are hiring a new network of scouts and the applicants have been asked to prepare dossiers on Newcastle loanee Joe Willock and Berge.
The Sheffield United player is said to have a £35million release clause.

    ICYMI – JORGINHO’S HOWLER
Chelsea lost 1-0 to Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last night following an awful back pass from Jorginho.
Here’s the moment, just in case you missed it…

    TUCHY SUBJECT
Thomas Tuchel knows exactly which player rotation caused Chelsea’s loss to Arsenal.
The Blues lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday and the German blamed himself and the line up he picked after the game.
He said: “I am not happy with my line-up. There were too many changes and I should not have done it like this.
“It was something in particular but I don’t want to tell you.”
🗣”It is totally our fault, no one elses, we lost the game, we made an own-goal a total gift.” Thomas Tuchel took blame for making too many changes to the Chelsea starting line-up and called it a wake up call pic.twitter.com/kMXnJCjT6M— Football Daily (@footballdaily) May 12, 2021

    ARTETA’S MEDIA RANT
Mikel Arteta has slammed the press following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Chelsea last night, claiming they are ‘putting words in his mouth’.
The Gunners boss told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I don’t accept somebody putting words in my mouth that I don’t say.
“When it’s related to my players, they’re going to hit a wall.
“They can try to give their opinions from the outside, that’s fine, but to try to break what we have inside there is not possible.”
    MORNING ARSENAL FANS
It will be a welcome feeling for Arsenal fans this morning to wake up after a positive display from their team.
For all the negatives about the 2020-21 campaign, Mikel Arteta’s side showed grit and determination to defend resolutely and earn themselves a 1-0 victory over London rivals Chelsea.
Emile Smith Rowe’s first half goal gave the Gunners a much-needed win and one that lifts them up into eighth place in the Premier League table.
Speaking after the match, Arteta said: “It’s been a really tough season because we’ve faced something unprecedented in the outside world and in this football club.
“But we put all our passion, our energy, our knowledge and our togetherness to get through any obstacle and try to be as good as we can.”
The Spaniard also hit back at what he felt was an incorrect depiction of his words before the game surrounding the motivation of his players.
With the victory, Arsenal have now given themselves an outside chance of Europa League qualification next season.
And goalscorer Smith Rowe felt it was a huge win that the team desperately needed.
The 20-year-old said: “I feel like it was an important result, and for our season.
“It was really tough, and we had to work hard and dig deep. We worked on [the high press] in training this week, and I feel like we did well to make them make a mistake.
“I think it showed our character, and just how much fight we’ve got in us. We defended really well in patches and after this tough season, it was a good performance.”
    GOOD NIGHT FOR ARSENAL
So, Arsenal pick up a much-needed London derby win at Stamford Bridge as their quest for European football goes down to the final few games.
Mikel Arteta’s side now finish off their Premier League campaign with matches against Crystal Palace and Brighton.
Can they make the Europa League for next season? We wait to find out.

    CRAZY STAT
Absolutely bizarre statistic. Shows how much Lampard struggled at the end of his reign at Stamford Bridge.
Over the last 25 league games, Arsenal and Chelsea have taken exactly the same number of points (42). My brain cannot compute how this can be the case.— Daniel Storey (@danielstorey85) May 12, 2021

    ARSENAL STUN CHELSEA
Arsenal have shocked Chelsea with a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge. Emile Smith Rowe scored the only goal of the game after a horror backpass from Jorginho in the first half.
The Gunners move into eighth place in the Premier League table. Chelsea’s spot in the top four remains a little uneasy.

    OFF THE BAR TWICE
Chelsea have just hit the bar twice in the final minute of normal time against Arsenal. The Gunners are clinging on.
    MAIT A MOVE
Manchester United are interested in a shock transfer for Ainsley Maitland-Niles, according to reports.
The Arsenal academy graduate, 23, has spent the second half of this season on loan at West Brom.
And despite the Baggies getting relegated, the England international impressed with his performances under Sam Allardyce.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are considering an approach to Arsenal when he returns to his parent club.
However, the report adds they would face competition from three other Premier League sides – Everton, Leeds and Southampton.

And the Gunners are willing to sell Hector Bellerin for around £35m, with Max Aarons of Norwich a potential replacement.

    AMBITIOUS ARTETA
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta remains confident the Gunners will be able to attract big names to the club this summer despite being without European football.
The North London side sit ninth in the Premier League table with just three games remaining and were knocked out in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
But Arteta remains positive about the transfer window, saying: “Every player that we have been linked with or had some communication with, I haven’t seen one that was refusing to come here.
“In fact it’s the complete opposite. Everybody is very willing to join our club.
“When I signed for Arsenal as a player it was because I always admired this club, the way they did things and the way they used to play.
“So that was an easy decision for me.
“Now, in order to take the club to where we want it to be, we need players who are willing to accept the situation that we have today and help us achieve what we want in the future.”

    ALL IS NOT FAB
Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has become embroiled in a spat with ex-Liverpool and Man Utd striker Michael Owen on Twitter…
People are genuinely giving as much credit to a players number of assists as they do to number of goals nowadays. Literally 1 in 10 goals are genuine assists yet someone who plays a 5 yard ball to his mate who screams one in the top corner from 30 yards gets as much credit.🤔🤯— michael owen (@themichaelowen) May 11, 2021

I don’t completely agree there Michael. Making & creating can be sometimes twice as hard than making a run or scoring a goal. Don’t underestimate the little time/space we have in midfield to take best decision for you guys + the imagination/creativity we should have to find u. https://t.co/aSC0koteVY— Cesc Fàbregas Soler (@cesc4official) May 11, 2021

And Rio Ferdinand also got involved…
@cesc4official & @themichaelowen respectfully without US defending & protecting your goal you guys don’t have the platform to perform all of your frilly attacking stuff! We do the HARDEST part – respectfully 😂😂😂😂— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) May 12, 2021

    KAHN’T IMAGINE
Bayern Munich legend Oliver Kahn claims the Bundesliga champions can’t sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland in the summer.
Kahn, who will succeed Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as CEO later this year, believes the prospect of Bayern spending over €100million (£86m) for a player is “unimaginable”.
The club director told Bild: “Sorry, whoever spoke about that didn’t understand the situation.
“A package that costs – as we heard – over €100m is unimaginable for FC Bayern at the moment.”
This works as a major transfer boost for Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona who’ve been keeping tabs on Haaland
    ESL PENALTIES
As reported earlier, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are under UEFA investigation for their involvement in the suspended European Super League project.
The three elite clubs are facing a two-year ban from the Champions League unless they agree to give up on their controversial ESL plans.
Last month, 12 clubs, including Arsenal, attempted to break away and form this closed competition but nine of them pulled back and signed a declaration with UEFA promising that if they ever try to break away they will be fined €100million (£86m).
However, Real, Barca and Juve are not giving up on their plans and thus an investigation has been launched that could lead to a two-year ban from UEFA’s elite competition and subsequently a £100m loss per year
    KROENKE STANCE
Arsenal staff have been informed that the Kroenke family are not planning to sell the club despite all the fan dissatisfaction.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim the announcement was made during a staff call on Monday.
This poses as a blow for Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek, who is trying to buy the club with the help of Invincibles legends Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.
Gunners fans have staged two protests against majority shareholder Stan Kroenke’s ownership after the European Super League fiasco and are planning another one on their final Premier League match of the season against Brighton on May 23.
    BERTRAND STATEMENT
Southampton star Ryan Bertrand has announced that he will leave St Mary’s when his contract expires in the summer.
Bertrand has been linked with a move to Arsenal and AC Milan, who will now weigh up their options.
The left-back shared the following statement:

    ARSENAL TEAM NEWS
Arsenal take on Chelsea tonight at Stamford Bridge in a last-ditch effort to climb up a few Premier League spots and advance for either the Europa League or Conference League next season.
However, manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed the Gunners will be without David Luiz, who is dealing with a hamstring problem and thus won’t be able to face his former club.
Arteta also stated he has some other injuries to contend with but didn’t drop any names.
The Arsenal boss said: “There were some issues over the weekend again. We are playing every three days and there is no time to train yet, [Tuesday] is the first day so we will have to wait and see”
    CHELSEA TEAM NEWS
Chelsea are going to be without Mateo Kovacic and Andreas Christensen for tonight’s match against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Kovacic has been out since mid-April with a hamstring injury whereas Christensen picked up a tendon problem in Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League win at Manchester City.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed they will both miss the clash against the Gunners and are facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s FA Cup final against Leicester.
Tuchel said: “Kova is not ready for tomorrow. So his personal race is on to make it to the squad to Wembley.
“For Andreas, it’s better than we feared, much better… it will be also a tough one, but the season is not finished for him hopefully.
“So we have realistic hopes that his latest comeback will be against Aston Villa [on the final day of the season]”

    UEFA ACTION
UEFA have opened a disciplinary investigation into Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus over their involvement in the European Super League debacle.
Last month, 12 elite clubs joined forces in their bid to form a closed competition which caused global outrage from fans, players, coaches and pundits.
Last week, the other nine ‘founding members’, including Arsenal, signed a ‘Club Commitment Declaration’ with UEFA that saw them agree to a €100million (£86m) fine if they entered into a similar breakaway project in the future.
UEFA released the following announcement: “In accordance with Article 31(4) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors have today been appointed to conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework by Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus FC in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project.
“Further information regarding this matter will be made available in due course”
    ARSENAL REACTION
Arsenal players are “concerned” by manager Mikel Arteta’s appointment of goalkeeper coach Inaki Cana
That is according to The Athletic, who claim that there is concern among the playing staff about Cana’s suitability for the role.
There is a feeling that the Gunners have become weaker in the goalkeeping department after some high-profile errors by Bernd Leno.
Cana was also the one who recommended the arrival of Runar Alex Runarsson, who has failed to stand out.
    BELLERIN REPLACEMENTS
Arsenal are lining up two possible replacements for Hector Bellerin ahead of the summer transfer window.
Bellerin seems to want a new challenge in his career and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta won’t stand in his way.
The right-back has been linked with a move to AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal are reportedly eyeing Norwich ace Max Aarons as well as Real Betis’ Emerson as potential successors.
    MOUSS-IC TO THEIR EARS
Arsenal have been linked with Atletico Madrid loanee Moussa Dembele.
Dembele enjoyed an impressive campaign last season with Lyon as he netted 20 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
However, the striker has struggled at Atletico as he has only managed one goal in 22 matches.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is aiming to rebuild the squad ahead of next season and the France international poses as a potential replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, who could be on his way out of the club, according to the Daily Telegraph
    YES WE CAM
Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga’s agent has given Arsenal a big boost in their pursuit of the star midfielder.
Jonathan Barnett stated that although Camavinga is good enough to play Champions League football, he is not looking only at clubs in Europe’s elite competition.
Barnett said: “Playing games is the most important thing at his age. Playing in a good club is nice. And learning, for him.”
Barnett also refused to rule out Camavinga staying at Rennes for another year, even though his contract expires next summer so that option may not be preferred by the Ligue 1 club.
Arsenal sit in ninth place in the Premier League table, mathematically out of Champions League contention and almost certain to miss out on the Europa League as well

    GOOD MORNING ARSENAL FANS
Arsenal take on Chelsea tonight at Stamford Bridge and can’t afford to drop any more points if they wish to qualify for Europe next season.
A top-four finish is officially out of the Gunners’ reach, but they can still challenge for fifth, sixth and seventh place in the Premier League table.
The north Londoners will be missing David Luiz due to a hamstring injury and thus the defender won’t get to play against his former team.
Manager Mikel Arteta also revealed that he had some other injury problems to deal with but didn’t include any names.
Arteta said: “There were some issues over the weekend again. We are playing every three days and there is no time to train yet, [Tuesday] is the first day so we will have to wait and see.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal are planning for next season following a poor campaign that has seen them drop to ninth place in the table.
The Gunners are among Europe’s top hitters who are keeping tabs on Rennes star midfielder Eduardo Camavinga ahead of the summer transfer window.
Camavinga has also been linked with Real Madrid as well as Bayern Munich and insists no decisions have been made about his future yet.
The Frenchman recently said: “It makes you feel flattered and it’s nice that teams like Real Madrid or Bayern are interested in your situation.
“I’m not going to lie, but I have not yet thought it over with my family.”
Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe looks set to be offered a new deal at the Emirates following a breakthrough campaign.
However, club legend Ian Wright has warned the hierarchy that a lack of progress could see Rowe and fellow prospect Bukayo Saka leaving the Emirates.
Wright said: “Talking about him [Smith-Rowe] and Saka, you’re hoping Arsenal can match their progression because if they don’t, then clubs will try and take them off of us.
“It is a massive concern. It is a massive concern that are Arsenal are able to sort out whatever is going on upstairs, with the manager, with the players that are going to come in, whoever he is going to bring in to try and execute whatever game plan he wants to do, because these guys are going to be a major part of that.
“If they continue to play well, if we do not progress as quickly as these guys progress, then you have to be worried about their ambition and what they want to do because they’re fantastic players”
