Cristiano Ronaldo was subjected to ‘insults and beatings’ from Arsenal when the former Manchester United star tried tricks.
That is the revelation by ex-Arsenal attacker Robert Pires on a harsh start to life in England for Ronaldo.
Ronaldo’s introduction to English football was greeted with plenty of harsh challenges and Pires admitted opposing players did not appreciate the star’s showboating.
Pires told Record: “Cristiano made feints and the English didn’t like it. It was just a beating.

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Ben White from Brighton.
Brighton are holding out for a £50million fee for the centre-back, with the Gunners claimed to be willing to hand over £45m plus add-ons.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein tweeted: “Arsenal moving closer to agreement with Brighton for Ben White.
“#BHAFC want guaranteed ~£50m, #AFC offering ~£45m + £5m.
“Face-to-face talks have taken place & negotiations continue over add-ons, payment structure etc. No other bidders yet.”

Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos is set to depart to Stuttgart imminenently.
The Greece international is expected to return to the Bundesliga side where he spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan.
Football.london journalist Christ Wheatley tweeted: “Dinos Mavropanos to Stuttgart should be announced today.
“Loan with obligation to buy.”

Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo is wanted by Norwich, Arsenal and Newcastle following the Cottagers’ relegation, according to reports.
Promising loan spells at West Brom and Blackburn earned the centre-back a move from Manchester City to West London last summer.
But he could be set for another switch amid rumours of a £10million release clause.
Adarabioyo cost an initial £1.5m a year ago and City are thought to hold a 20 per cent sell-on clause for his next move.
According to Sky Sports’ transfer centre, Adarabioyo is among a number of targets for the newly-promoted Canaries.
SunSport revealed earlier this week that Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is wanted for a season-long loan move.

According to Foot Mercato, Mikel Arteta is keen for the 20-year-old to continue his development elsewehere.

Arsenal have allowed another youngster to depart the club as Cardiff City confirmed the signing of Mark McGuiness.
The 20-year-old defender has penned a three-year contract with Mick McCarthy’s Championship side.

Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, according to reports.

He told Euro Game Day Live on talkSPORT: “I am a big Ben White fan.

“But I am a big fan of his. I have liked him ever since he was at Leeds on loan.

Arsenal are plotting a move for Porto wide man Jesus Corona, according to reports.
The Daily Mail are reporting that the versatile winger is on Arsenal’s long list of transfer targets this summer.
Corona would provide competition to help push big money signing Nicolas Pepe.
But the 28-year-old can also operate as a right-back, which is an area Arsenal need to strengthen in.
SALIBA AVAILABLE ON LOAN
Arsenal have notified Newcastle United that they will let young defender William Saliba leave the club on loan IF they complete the signing of Brighton’s Ben White.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle have an interest in the 20-year-old French defender.

Arsenal are keeping an eye on Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez, according to reports.
Spanish outlet Marca is reporting that the Argentine has impressed since joining Betis from Mexican club America.
And is considered one of Betis’ most valuable assests alongside Frenchman Nabil Fekir.
The report states that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old and watched him throughout last season.
Rodriguez has a £68million release clause.

Juventus could beat Arsenal to Sassuolo ace Manuel Locatelli by offering £26million, plus Radu Dragusin.
Locatelli scored two goals in the 3-0 win over Switzerland in Group A, showcasing his attacking ability.
According to Goal, Juventus are readying a bid worth £26m plus Dragusin, hoping to persuade Sassuolo.
However, the midfielder, isn’t looking too much into the speculation.
Locatelli said: “[The transfer rumours are] just talk. I will decide after the European Championship. There’s such an important competition to play in, and I’m only focused on this.
“I rely on what happens on the pitch, the real things, everything else is just gossip, it’s useless to talk about it.”
Meanwhile, Brighton ace Ben White is keen to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners saw an opening bid for White, worth around £40m, rejected by the Seagulls but talks continue.
