Brighton are playing hardball with Arsenal over the fee for defender Ben White
The clubs are locked in talks with Albion owner Tony Bloom refusing to back down.
Arsenal, whose first bid was £40m, are discussing a potential offer of £45m plus £5m in add-ons.
But Brighton still insist they want even more.
A string of other clubs had been interested in the England centre-back, 23, including PSG, Tottenham, Liverpool and Dortmund.
Meanwhile, Kieran Tierney has committed his future to Arsenal by signing a new five-year contract worth £120,000 per week.
The Scotland star, 24, confirmed the deal after returning from the Euros.
He said: “The club have been brilliant with me so I am more than happy to sign this contract.
“It was amazing to hear when the manager told me ‘we want to extend your deal because we’re so happy with how you’ve come along’.
“Working with the manager and all the players is an absolute joy and the vision and the expectations of the club are why I signed.
“We’re not where we want to be right now but we’re going in the right direction.”

“It’s a pleasure to work with KT. He is already one of the most exciting players in the Premier League and a hugely important part of our team.

Arsenal ‘make Eduardo Camavinga No1 transfer priority this summer with Rennes midfielder Mikel Arteta’s top target’

Beefing up the midfield is understood to be one of the Spaniard’s main priorities.
And according to reports, the 39-year-old has placed Camavinga at the top of his summer wishlist.
The 18-year-old – who has drawn comparisons to Gunners legend Patrick Viera – has made waves at Rennes since making his debut in the 2018-19 season.
Camavinga already has a whopping 82 first-team appearances to his name and has impressed many with his displays for the Ligue 1 side.
Arteta is said to have been so impressed by the France international that he’s willing to sell FOUR players in order to finance a move for him.
That’s according to The Express, who reckon Bernd Leno, William Saliba, Matteo Guendouzi and Eddie Nketiah are all at risk of being punted.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Camavinga would suggest they’re no longer interested in signing Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
The north Londoners tabled two bids for the midfielder last summer but saw both offers rejected.
Arsenal were unable to meet the French club’s asking price for the creative midfielder, but Arteta hopes club owner Stan Kroenke will back him in the transfer market this summer.
He said: “The squad needs changing.
“There were already a lot of changes in December, something that has not been done in years, but it tells us where we were.
“Things are going to have to change and the owners are going to back it up.”

Kroenke appears to be willing to splash the cash this summer as the Gunners are closing in on a deal for Brighton and England defender Ben White.
The Emirates club are currently in talks over a £50million deal for the centre-back, who had previously been scouted by Manchester United and Chelsea.
Arsenal had a £40million bid for the 23-year-old rejected by The Seagulls earlier this month, although talks over a potential deal continued.
The Gunners will hope to have White on their books well before the Premier League season kicks off on August 13.
Arteta’s troops will begin their domestic campaign against newly-promoted Brentford before facing title contenders Chelsea and Manchester City.

Speaking to TMW, he said: “He wants to come back to Italy.
“There are proposals from Spain, France and Russia but Lucas wants Serie A.
“Arsenal understand the situation and now they’ll help us.”
According to Fabrizio Romano, Lazio are ahead of the pack and are working on a deal.
Torreira, 25, started his career with Italian side Pescara before moving to Sampdoria and then Arsenal.
He fell out of favour under boss Mikel Arteta and spent last season on loan with LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal are expected to take a significant loss on the no-nonsense midfielder having landed him for £26m in 2018.
Arteta is eager to offload his fringe playes during the summer and raise transfer finds to improve his first team.

Defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has rejoined Stuttgart while Sead Kolasinac is closing in on a move to Fenerbahce.
Meanwhile Arsenal are closing in on a move for Brighton’s Ben White in a deal that could rise to £50m.
Defence is one of his main priorities and the versatile White, who can play right-back, centrally or in midfield, is one of Arteta’s major targets.

And the deal will be made permanent in a deal worth up to £5million should Stuttgart avoid relegation, according to The Athletic.
They will be obliged to pay £3million for Mavropanos, and bonuses up to £1.5m are also included in the deal.
The 23-year-old has agreed a three-year deal should the permanent transfer clause be activated.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have not agreed a sell-on fee with the German club.
But after signing in 2018 for a fee in the region of £2.2m, the Gunners will make a small profit on the Greece international, whose career at the Emirates never kicked off.
He was signed by Arsene Wenger but only made eight appearances for the club, failing to impress Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta.

The Seagulls want £50m for the centre-back but the Gunners are plotting a deal worth £45m, plus £5m in add-ons.

White was rewarded for his impressive form at Brighton with a place in the England squad for Euro 2020 after Trent Alexander-Arnold pulled out through injury.
Arsenal reportedly offered £40m for the 23-year-old but Brighton are determined to hold out for £10m more.
Mikel Arteta wants to revamp his squad after the Gunners missed out on European football for the first time in 25 years.
Defence is one of his main priorities and the versatile White, who can play right-back, centrally or in midfield, is one of Arteta’s major targets.

White was released by Southampton as a teenager before finding his way to Brighton and Euro 2020 via loan spells with Newport and Leeds.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer as they bid to rebuild their squad after another disappointing season.
If White completes his move to Arsenal, it is likely defender William Saliba will again be sent out on loan.

The 20-year-old returned to Saint-Etienne immediately after signing for the Premier League side and was left out of Mikel Arteta’s 25-man squad for the 2020-21 season, leading to a fresh loan move with Nice from January.
In 22 games on the Mediterranean coast, he did enough to make the shortlist for the Ligue 1 Team of the Year.
However, Arsenal are still not sure that he is ready for a place in the team.
Another stint away from the club is deemed likely, as reported by French outlet FootMercato.
Arteta is set to take a look at Saliba when pre-season begins but is described as leaning towards a loan transfer, with the player under contract to 2024.
As many as nine clubs are already named as interested in a potential deal.

Southampton and Newcastle are the two English sides reportedly keen along with Bayer Leverkusen, Nice, Rennes, Marseille, Lille, and two unnamed clubs in Italy.
David Luiz is leaving Arsenal once his contract expires at the end of the month, leaving Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers as centre-back options for Arteta.
But the coach is reportedly still determined to bring in a new face with Brighton’s Ben White strongly linked.
Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo is another rumoured target for the Gunners.
As the 20-21 campaign ended, Arteta insisted that Saliba will get his chance to impress next season.
We will make a decision based on an agreement of the role each player is going to have in our squad.Mikel Arteta

He said last month: “William is our player for sure and that’s the decision we’re going to be taking soon.
“When we finish the season we will sit down and discuss the roles of every member in our squad and how they can fulfil that role.
“He’s our player so he’ll be back here for sure.
“After that, we will make a decision based on an agreement of the role each player is going to have in our squad.”
