Ramsdale then emerged as a surprise name on Arsenal’s summer wanted list with the future of Bernd Leno unclear.
Yet according to the Star, any deal for the 23-year-old would have proved difficult while he was away with Gareth Southgate’s squad.
But the report adds that Arsenal are understood to have told the Blades to expect an offer for Ramsdale once the Euros are over.

The Gunners’ opening bid is said to likely fall short of United’s £40million price tag but will prove the club are serious about a deal.
Emirates boss Mikel Arteta has a major goalkeeper issue this summer with No1 Leno linked with returning to Germany.
Brighton’s Mat Ryan spent the second half of last season on loan in North London but looks unlikely to return to Arsenal.
Ramsdale meanwhile suffered a tough season with Sheff Utd following their relegation from the Premier League.
He returned to his old club last summer in a £20m move from Bournemouth – again as a replacement for Red Devils stopper Henderson.
Ramsdale, who was in England’s initial 33-man squad, is one of three goalkeepers involved in the Three Lions set-up for Euro 2020.

The former Chesterfield loanee was also part of the country’s Under-21s Euros squad that crashed out in the group stages in March.
He is currently behind Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Sam Johnstone of West Brom in Southgate’s pecking order.
SunSport previously reported that Arsenal are set to be active in the market this summer after they were linked with signing Italy star Manuel Locatelli.

But it is thought Mikel Arteta’s side could face stiff competition for the Austria international’s signature.
The club’s bitter rivals Tottenham and AC Milan and Roma are thought to be keen on the star.
And the Gunners failure to qualify for competition in Europe next season could give their Italian and North London rivals an edge.

Milan, who finished second in Serie A last term last season will play in the Champions League next term.
And Roma and Spurs will both be competing in the Europa conference next term under their new respective bosses Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.
It is reported Sabitzer, 27, who moved to Leipzig in 2014 from Austrian giants Rapid Wien, would prefer to join a club competing in Europe.
The midfielder, who made his senior debut at 16 at Austrian side Admira Wacka, netted 8 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances in the 2020-21 season.
The versatile player can operate in a deep-lying central position as well in an advanced attacking number 10 role or on the wing
And the midfielder, who started in all four of Austria’s Euros games including their last 16 loss to Italy, has been compared to David Beckham by Bundesliga.com,
Sabitzer’s current contract with Leipzig – who finished second behind in Germany’s top tier behind Bayern Munich – runs until 2022.
And it is thought Arsenal and Tottenham were interested in the Austrian in January but were put off by his £43m price tag.
Reports claim the Gunners have also made an attempt to sign Sassuolo midfielder Manual Locatelli, 23, following his impressive performances for Euros favourites Italy.

It is believed Sabitzer could be eyeing a move away from RB Leipzig this summer rather than seeing out the rest of his contract.
In June The Athletic claimed that Tottenham had been pursuing the Austria star for more than a year.
And Austria boss Franco Foda described the midfielder as a player who “has some good technical moments” and “gives everything for 90 minutes.”

Willian’s Inter Miami transfer collapses after Arsenal star demands more than DOUBLE top earner Gonzalo Higuain’s wages

INTER MIAMI have pulled out of a move for Willian.SunSport understands the Arsenal man wanted around £8.7million a year – £167,000 per week – to play in MLS which is too much for David Beckham’s side.

It’s a blow for boss Phil Neville who hopes to offload Mexican international Rodolfo Pizarro this month to a club back home in Liga MX.
That would then free up a designated player spot which Neville wanted to use for Willian, 32, before his demands proved too much.
Out-of-sorts Gonzalo Higuain is the club’s current top earner, bagging an annual salary of £4.19million or £80,500 per week.
Willian’s Arsenal contract expires in 2023 but he wants to quit the Gunners after a difficult first season.
Becks, though, needs a star signing in south Florida to start producing now with former Real Madrid and Argentina frontman Higuain struggling with his fitness levels.
The 33 year-old was dropped from the Inter Miami squad for the trip to DC United on June 19.
However, he came off the bench to score in last weekend’s home defeat to Orlando, Higuain still has work to do to reach the desired level.
Higuain has been put on a specialized fitness plan at the club’s Fort Lauderdale HQ.

The second offer, in the region of £30million, was turned down by Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to the future.
Smith Rowe, 20, has two years left on his current contract but the Gunners are determined to sign him to a new deal.
The midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough season under Arteta, scoring four goals and providing seven assists across all competitions last season.
Arsenal insist the player is not for sale at any price.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Smith Rowe will sign a new contract at Arsenal and end speculation over his future.
He adds how the starlet will pen a new deal once he returns from his summer holiday.
Romano said: “Before Emile was going to holiday this summer, he had like a verbal agreement ready with Arsenal, this is what I know.
“So he’s waiting to come back from holiday and then to meet with Arsenal, complete some details and then sign the new contract with Arsenal.

To which Sanches replied: “I’m wait for your invitation [sic].”
The 23-year-old has become one of the hottest talents in Europe again after a tricky start to his professional career.
Sanches burst onto the scene at Benfica in 2015-16, making 35 appearances in all competitions to help the Portuguese side win a league and cup double.
His performances at domestic level saw him included in Portugal’s squad for Euro 2016, starting their historic win against France in the final.
But Sanches struggled after the tournament, making just 17 league appearances at new club Bayern following a high-profile move.

An unsuccessful loan spell at Swansea followed – featuring just 12 times for the relegated Premier League side – before he was allowed to join Lille in August 2019.
Despite making just 42 Ligue 1 appearances in two seasons at the French club due to injury, he has reinvented himself – inspiring them to a shock title triumph last term.
Sanches’ form has seen him linked with a host of top European clubs – including Arsenal, who are said to be keeping tabs on the player.

Former side Bayern and six-time European champions Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested in the youngster.
The Gunners are reportedly monitoring several midfielders as they face losing Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka to Roma.
The Premier League side have also been linked with Brighton star Yves Bissouma and Lyon talent Houssem Aouar.
