Sergio Ramos ‘rejects £10m Man Utd offer after talks over free transfer as Arsenal and PSG eye Real Madrid legend’

REAL MADRID legend Sergio Ramos has attracted interest from the Premier League after his exit from the Santiago Bernabeu, reports suggest.Ramos’ 16-year stint at Real came to an end last month after the player and club president Florentino Perez failed to reach an agreement over a new contract.

Los Blancos were willing to offer a one-year deal on reduced terms but the 35-year-old defender held out for a two-year contract and that standstill led to the former team captain’s departure.
According to the Daily Star, Manchester United approached the Spain international and proposed a £10million deal, with the option of a second season.
But Ramos rejected that offer and reports suggest he is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, where he has been handed a straight two-year deal with his annual salary slightly minimised.

According to Goal, however, there has been no agreement between the player and PSG.
The same source, though, confirms that the Ligue 1 giants and Ramos have indeed come in contact without a formal offer being tabled.
Arsenal have also asked to be kept in the loop regarding the star centre-back’s future.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to sign a top defender to partner up with Harry Maguire at the back.
However, the Red Devils appear to be prioritising the likes of Real star Raphael Varane and Villarreal ace Pau Torres.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, on the other hand, would also like someone to lead his backline but seems to be prioritising the signing of a midfielder.
If Ramos ultimately joins PSG then he will reunite with former Real team-mates Keylor Navas and Angel Di Maria as well as fellow Spain players Ander Herrera and Pablo Sarabia.

Arsenal transfer for Ben White all-but complete for £50m from Brighton and will be sealed after Euro 2020

BEN WHITE’s Arsenal move appears to be reaching its closing stages despite Man City and Everton vying with the Gunners for the centre-back. Football London claims the club’s deal to buy the Brighton ace is all but done with the switch due to be finalised after the Euros.

The Toffees, who confirmed Rafa Benitez as their new manager, are thought to have held negotiations with Albion officials over a possible £50million switch.
And Football London says the Goodison Park giants were reportedly preparing to make an offer that would have bested the package tabled by Arsenal.
It is thought Mikel Arteta’s side are offering £42m guaranteed with a further £6m in add-ons.
This reportedly follows initial bids of £40m and later £45m plus £5m in add-ons, with Brighton chiefs reportedly eager for a higher bid.
And although White, 23, is believed to prefer an Emirates move it is thought the Seagulls player was impressed by the efforts of transfer chiefs at Everton.
However, a move to North London after the European Championships is thought to be looking the likeliest option for the England international.
And Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate hinted that summer deals involving some of his players could be in line to be completed after the contest.
The centre-back, who was born in Poole, made 36 top-flight starts for Graham Potter’s Seagulls helping them to avoid relegation.

White, who began his senior career at Brighton in 2016, enjoyed loan spells at Newport County, Peterborough and Leeds between 2017 and 2020.
The England centre-back was listed in the PFA’s Championship Team of the Year for the 2019-20 season following his successful one-year stint at Leeds.
And the player featured in 46 second-flight games that season helping the club to win promotion to the Premier League in July 2020.

Parris, 27, was speaking to journalists after Arsenal confirmed her £68,600 club-record transfer following her two-year, trophy-laden spell with Lyon.
And the pacy forward, who won a Champions League crown with the French juggernauts, reckons the competitive edge of England’s top-flight is a major draw.
Parris said: “Just watching from abroad, the games are so much tighter and [there is] so much more talent spread across the teams.
“I’m not an Arsenal fan, but growing up I loved Julie Fleeting and Thierry Henry so I followed the team a lot.
“And when I spoke to Claire Wheatley [Arsenal Women’s Development manager] I thought let’s give it a go.  Let’s move to North London.”
Parris, who was born in Toxteth, Liverpool, was the WSL’s all-time top scorer with 49 goals when she departed for France from Manchester City in 2019.
The striker began her senior playing career in 2011 at Everton before embarking on three silverware-winning seasons at City from 2016 to 2019.
At City, she won the Women’s Super League, two FA Cups and two WSL Cups.
A 2020 Women’s Champions League and the Coupe De France Feminine were among the titles Parris won during her first season at Lyon.

Paris is eager to reclaim the WSL’s top scorer crown currently held by her goal machine Gunners’ team-mate Vivianne Miedema.
And the Lionesses heroine will don Arsenal’s famous No 14 jersey, a shirt worn by club legend and lethal finisher Henry.
Parris said: “The 14 [shirt] speaks for itself because of Thierry Henry.
“Growing up he was my role model and I had the pleasure of being interviewed by him.
“Just being able to speak to him about Arsenal and about football, it’s crazy how much our similarities and thought processes align, so the 14 shirt felt right.
“The goalscoring record is always on the top of my mind. I’m a striker and I want to score goals and I want to make history in every team that I’m in.
“I want to leave a mark and if I can leave a mark at Arsenal and in the WSL at the same time, let’s go for it.”

Arsenal ‘keeping tabs on Sander Berge but face transfer battle with Liverpool and Napoli for Sheff Utd midfielder

ARSENAL are keeping a close eye on Blades ace Sander Berge with a view to bolstering their midfield ranks ahead of Granit Xhaka possible departure. But the Gunners are facing a transfer tug-of-war for the Sheffield United player with Napoli, Lazio and Liverpool reportedly after his signature.

The Sheffield Star claims the Norway international midfielder is among the names on the club’s ‘for sale’ list following the arrival of new manager Slaviska Jankovic.
Bramall Lane chiefs are thought to be eager to boost funds following the club’s drop from the Premier League.

And Berge, 23, who is reportedly unenthusiastic about the prospect of playing in the Championship, is believed to have a £35million clause in his contract.
Arsenal, who finished eighth last term, are looking to strengthen their midfield options with wantaway star Granit Xhaka heavily linked with a move to Roma.
Earlier this month it was reported the North London giants had a £17.2 m bid for Berge rejected by Bramall Lane officials.
However, the Star claims a concrete bid for the Norwegian is yet to be put forward.
And it is thought Blades chiefs are keen to get the full relegation release clause fee.
Berge, who has 24 senior Norway caps is keen to continue playing club football at the highest level.
And the midfielder is a national team-mate of Gunners former loan star Martin Odegaard.
Berge joined the Yorkshire side from Genk in January 2020 for a club record figure of £22million.
However an injury-hit season has seen the Norwegian restricted to just 15 Premier League appearances last term netting once and providing one assist.
And surgery on a hamstring in December 2020 forced him out of action until May this year.
It’s reported Berge’s lengthy spell on the treatment table has led Napoli to baulk at his £35million valuation.

And officials at the Serie A giants are thought to have requested access to the player’s medical records.
The Italian side and Arsenal are reportedly also keen on Blades keeper Aaron Ramsdale.
However, it is reported the idea of Jankovic sanctioning a sale of the England Under-21 stopper would be unpopular with Blades fans.

Arsenal and Chelsea defenders William Saliba and Malang Sarr withdrawn from France’s Tokyo Olympics squad

The tournament at the Olympics is due to start on July 22.
The final will take place on August 7, which would mean those involved would miss the majority of pre-season.
Now the duo are amongst several names to pull-out of the final squad prior to kick off in the Far East.
Saliba will now report back to the Gunners for their pre-season training under Mikel Arteta.
Chelsea’s Sarr, who spent last season on loan at Porto, is another along with Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, 18, to withdraw.
Saliba will now be trying to persuade Arteta that he has the talents to warrant a regular spot in his side.
The defender still has not played in a senior game for Arsenal since his £27million transfer move from Saint-Etienne in 2019.
He featured in their pre-season campaign a year ago.

But he was overlooked by Arteta once the season got underway and was sent back to France.
He left the North London outfit in January to spend the next six months on loan at Nice.
Meanwhile Sarr is wanted by Fenerbahce.
Sarr signed for Chelsea last summer, before joining Porto on loan.
And he could depart on a temporary basis once again, with Turkish newspaper Takvim reporting Fenerbahce’s interest.

So Everton have moved straight in to tell Brighton that they will pay the guaranteed money they are looking for, and are now attempting to put together bonus packages to try to get the deal secured.
New boss Benitez highlighted signing a new central defender as one of the key areas to strengthen when he was in negotiations to take charge.
And he made it clear White, 23, is his number one choice and the Merseysiders would rather not mess around so told the Seagulls board they will match the £50m they are looking for.
In contrast, Arsenal have only gone as far as offering £42million guaranteed with a further £6m in add-ons, a bid that was quickly dismissed.
There are also concerns that to make the deal affordable the Gunners need to offload one or two players first, which has not come close to happening.
The feeling at Everton is not to mess around, offer the money, then negotiate the structure of payment, add-ons and potentially a sell-on clause.

Then it would be down to Benitez to convince White that a move to join his new era at Goodison Park is the right one at this stage in his career.
The defender remains focused on being part of the England squad throughout the Euros, though is aware of the interest being shown in him by other Premier League clubs.
The clubs are locked in talks with Albion owner Tony Bloom refusing to back down.
Arsenal, whose first bid was £40m, are discussing a potential offer of £45m plus £5m in add-ons.
But Brighton still insist they want even more.
Earlier in the summer White was also linked with other clubs like PSG, Tottenham, Liverpool and Dortmund.
But until Benitez’s arrival at Goodison, Arsenal have been the strong frontrunners for his signature.

The Scotland star, 24, confirmed the deal after returning from the Euros.

He said: “The club have been brilliant with me so I am more than happy to sign this contract.
“It was amazing to hear when the manager told me ‘we want to extend your deal because we’re so happy with how you’ve come along’.
“We’re not where we want to be right now but we’re going in the right direction.”
