This was the post the Arsenal winger ‘liked’ on Instagram
He made just eight first-team appearances last season, with no Premier League starts.
And that has led to speculation surrounding where he will be playing his football next term – despite coming off the bench in the 2-2 friendly draw with Rangers on Saturday.
The Hale End graduate, who joined Arsenal aged nine, is into the final year of his Emirates contract.
But he may have given a clue where he is heading by hitting the heart on a post from BHA Media, a Brighton fan page on Instagram.
The image showed Nelson playing for Arsenal with the Brighton badge in the corner.
It was captioned: “REISS NELSON TO BRIGHTON?”
Reports have already linked Nelson with Brighton while Crystal Palace and Brentford are also in the hunt for the England Under-21 international.
The Gunners and the Seagulls remain in close contact sorting out Ben White’s £50million transfer from the south coast to North London.
Brighton ace Yves Bissouma could also be a transfer target for Arteta this summer.
Nelson spent the 2018-19 season on loan with Hoffenheim and could return to Germany with Bundesliga clubs interested.
Meanwhile, Olympiacos have also entered the race.

However, teams abroad know they can arrange a free transfer for next summer as early as January due to his contract expiring.
CBS Sports state Arsenal have offered an extension to his current deal but negotiations have stalled.
Nelson further sparked exit rumours when he placed his £3m, six-bedroom North London mansion on the market.

Reports claim Inter are leading the race for Bellerin after selling Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.
And Marotta has now confirmed the Serie A champions have Bellerin in their sights.
He told Sky Sports Italy: “Bellerin is a player we are following, but I can’t say any more.”
Marotta also revealed Inter are interested in re-signing Manchester United left-back Alex Telles.
He added: “Telles? I can’t exclude this possibility but we’re making plans and we’ll see.”
Should Arsenal decide to cash in on Bellerin, it’s reckoned they would demand £15million for their longest-serving player and vice-captain.
And Ian McGarry says Arsenal are ready to cash in as they look to strengthen other areas of their squad.
He told the Transfer Window Podcast: “It’s our information that Bellerin and his representatives are in talks with at least three different clubs with regards to a transfer this summer.

“We’ve also been told by very senior sources at Arsenal that Bellerin is one of the players they believe they can actually cash in on in terms of their financial difficulties and their ability to purchase new players.”
As for Telles, reports claim Man United have no intention of letting him go one year after his move from Porto.
That’s despite added interest from their former boss Jose Mourinho, who wants to loan Telles to Roma as a replacement for the injured Leonardo Spinazzola.

That is after they previously had bids of £40m and £42m rejected.
It will make the 23-year-old one of the most expensive English defenders of all time.
And it matches the fee Manchester United paid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019.
Personal terms have also been agreed for Three Lions star White.
Now he is set to sign a five-year deal with the North Londoners.
His medical will not take place until he is back from holiday following his exertions at Euro 2020.
White was a late call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad for the tournament following the injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
He made his Three Lions debut in a friendly against Austria last month off the bench.
The former Leeds loanee then played the full 90 minutes to earn his second cap in the 1-0 win over Romania but was unused at the Euros.

The breakthrough is a huge boost for Mikel Arteta, who saw off late interest from Chelsea, in his plans to revamp his Arsenal squad this summer after a poor campaign.
While it continues the stratospheric rise of versatile ace White, who was playing on loan at League Two Newport County just three years ago.
Brighton plan to use a significant chunk of the money from their record sale into buying a new striker.

And after weeks of negotiations, a deal is said to be close.
Mourinho apparently wants Xhaka, 28, to partner Italian Euro 2020 winner Bryan Cristante in a midfield pivot.
Xhaka’s transfer to Rome would bring to an end his tumultuous five-year stay at the Emirates.
The midfielder joined Arsenal from Gladbach in 2016 for around £30m and made 220 appearances, winning two FA Cups in the process.
His influence saw him made Gunners captain before being stripped of the honour in 2019 after an infamous public falling out with fans.
Xhaka would become Mourinho’s second signing of the summer, with Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio confirmed earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Roma are reportedly keen on a loan deal for Manchester United left-back Alex Telles.
Leonardo Spinazzola could miss most of next season after a cruciate ligament rupture at the Euros.
But the Red Devils look set to resist their former manager’s advances.

Arsenal transfer boost with Martin Odegaard available for Real Madrid exit after LaLiga demand club slash their wages

ARSENAL’S dream of bringing Martin Odegaard back to North London could be on once again amid reports of financial woe at Real Madrid.Los Blancos are subject to a decreased wage limit this season after suffering a collapse in revenue during the pandemic.

LaLiga enforce a salary cap that has come into focus during the coronavirus crisis, with Barcelona at particular risk of exceeding their allocation.
According to The Athletic, a number of stars have been earmarked for a potential sale after Real’s limit dropped by over £140MILLION from its pre-pandemic figure.
First-team players Eden Hazard, Isco, Marcelo, Mariano Diaz, Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane have all been described as up for sale.
Two players potentially joining them are 22-year-old Odegaard and fellow former Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos.
While Ceballos will decide his future after playing for Spain at the Tokyo Olympics, Odegaard is already in pre-season training.
A ‘significant’ fee would be required for any club to sign either midfielder – and Arsenal are tipped to spend big this summer.
Although, a wide range of targets are on their radar from Brighton’s £50m-rated Ben White to Italy star Manuel Locatelli.
A central midfielder who can play the ball is well known to be a priority although SunSport revealed this week that paying £35m for Wolves’ playmaker Ruben Neves is not the club’s preference.
Instead, Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga is set to arrive for a more modest £17m.
Odegaard impressed in a loan spell through the second half of last season and Mikel Arteta confirmed afterwards that Arsenal would hold talks over his future.

The coach said in May: “We need to respect that he’s a Real Madrid player.
“We’ll have those communications. We’ve tried to make everything that we could to get Martin performing for the team, which I think he’s done.
“And he has adapted really well to our way of playing and to our football club.
“Hopefully we have given him the hope and the feeling that this could be a good place for him.”

Smith Rowe netted an excellent volley in Tuesday’s 2-1 friendly defeat by Scottish side Hibernian.
The Gunners are at risk of losing the promising midfielder this summer as there are just two years remaining on his Emirates contract.
Villa have reportedly had two offers of £25million and £30m rejected for the midfielder and it is believed they are preparing a third bid.
It is understood Smith Rowe wants to stay in North London and is set to sign a new five-year deal with the club despite Villa’s interest.
He’s also expected to receive a new shirt number, upgrading from No32 to either No8, No10 or No11.
But with Smith Rowe’s new contract still to be signed, fans remain anxious about the player leaving for pastures new.
Responding to a video of Smith Rowe’s goal on Arsenal’s official Twitter page, one fan wrote: “You know what to do. Announce his contract extension!”
While another tweeted: “What a player, he will lead us to great things.”
And one replied: “Announce his new number and contract ASAP.”

Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Smith Rowe will stay at the Emirates this summer after the Hibs defeat, refusing to discuss Villa’s reported bids.
He said: “Without a question. Yes. He [Smith Rowe] will stay here – 100 per cent.”
The Gunners boss also confirmed Joe Willock remains part of his plans after spending the second half of last term on loan at Newcastle.

The 21-year-old was in sensational form for the Magpies, scoring eight goals in 14 games to win the Premier League Player of the Month award for May.
Arteta revealed: “Joe is part of our plans, he’s our player and in the time that he is here we will try to make the most out of him.
“He had a great experience on loan. He was, I think one of the most important players for their survival.”

Arsenal in talks over Ruben Neves transfer with agent Jorge Mendes and Edu in contact over £35m Wolves midfielder

JORGE MENDES is still in contact with Arsenal technical director Edu over a move for Wolves star Ruben Neves. The Gunners are interested in the Portuguese midfielder as a potential new partner for Thomas Partey with Granit Xhaka linked to a switch to Roma this summer.

And SunSport understands that Neves’ agent Mendes is in constant communication with Edu in an attempt to get a deal over the line as soon as possible.
However, the £35m price tag on Neves is still a stumbling block in the negotiations.
And SunSport also understands that despite another of Mendes’ clients Nuno Espirito Santo – former Wolves boss now at Tottenham – still being a huge fan of Neves, he is unlikely to join Arsenal’s North London rivals.
Arsenal are set to have a busy transfer window, and look to be getting their business done early ahead of their Premier League opener against Brentford on August 13.
They have already snapped up left back Nuno Tavares from Benfica for £7m.
And they are close to completing a move for Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga for around £15m.
Brighton’s Ben White, Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Leicester’s James Maddison could also potentially be arriving at the Emirates in the coming weeks.
Lokonga plays in a similar position to Neves, but the latter’s Prem experience could convince Edu and boss Mikel Arteta to take the plunge for added reinforcement.

Neves’ contract runs out in 2023, but Wolves are desperate to raise funds to strengthen their squad and see the 24-year-old as replaceable.
Swiss midfielder Xhaka is keen to end his five-year stay in the capital after an impressive Euros, but Arsenal and Serie A side Roma are still yet to agree a fee.
Roma are willing to pay £15m while Arsenal are looking for a price closer to £20m.
