ARSENAL boss Mikel Arteta has jetted out to America to meet the club’s owner Stan Kroenke as he pushes for new signings.The duo were spotted together as they witnessed the Colorado Avalanche beat Chicago Blackhawks 2-0 in the National Hockey League on Monday.

The meeting in Denver comes with the Gunners reportedly preparing to offer the Spaniard a contract extension – although the manager’s initial concern is the January transfer window.
Arteta is desperate for attacking reinforcements but looks to have missed out on his No.1 target Dusan Vlahovic, with the Fiorentina star seemingly set to join Juventus instead.
He also wants to bring in Arthur Melo from Juventus, but the Premier League side only have a week left to bolster their ranks before the window closes.
A number of other forwards have been linked with Arsenal over recent days, including Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic.
And Sun Sport understands that Arteta used his trip to the States to try and persuade billionaire Kroenke to splash the cash over the coming days as they discussed transfer funds and targets.
Arteta, whose team have gone four games without scoring, will soon be leaving the US to join his squad in Dubai for some warm weather training due to their 18-day gap between matches.

Arsenal are staring at a blank February calendar of just two games after being dumped out of all cup competitions.

But hopes of signing Fiorentina star Vlahovic are looking increasingly remote in spite of repeated attempts to secure a deal.
And now they are considering a last-ditch move for Vlahovic’s Serbian international striker partner Jovic.
Fiorentina are ready to cash in on their 21-year-old superstar, with Arsenal indicating that they are willing to pay £50million plus on-loan Lucas Torreira to get the deal over the line.
But the Serie A club believe that Vlahovic has set his heart on a move to Juventus and could even stick in Florence for the next 18 months before leaving as a free agent.
Fiorentina sporting director Joe Barone admitted: “We’re open to negotiate but we want Vlahovic and his agent to be clear on the future and they’re not answering.”
And with time rapidly running out to bolster their flagging forward line, Arsenal are now beginning to look around for alternative strikers.

Real Socidead’s Alexander Isak is one potential option, although there might not be enough time to thrash out a deal for the Swedish international who is thought to be valued at £75m.
But they have been told by Real Madrid that Jovic could become available on loan to help Arsenal through their short-term crisis.
The two clubs have a good relationship after Arsenal loaned Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard from the Bernabeu in the past.
And 24-year-old Jovic, who cost £50m when he moved to Spain from Benfica in 2019, is believed to be eager to prove himself in England.

Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal offered to take him for the rest of the season with an option to buy in the summer.
But according to The Athletic, the Gabon international remains motivated to continue playing at an elite level in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be interested in signing Aubameyang.
But his mammoth £350,000-a-week wages may prove a stumbling block.
Aubameyang is also said to be training alone, away from the first-team squad and at different times.
That – coupled with a potential transfer before Monday’s deadline day – could mean he does not travel to Dubai for Arsenal’s warm-weather training on Thursday.

RENATO SANCHES has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in signing him as he dropped a major hint that he will leave Lille.The Portuguese international, 24, has rebuilt his career after years in the wilderness and is currently starring for the French club.

The midfielder played a key role in Lille’s Ligue 1 title-winning success last season and he has made 18 appearances this term.
Sanches, who moved to Lille in 2019, still has 18 months left on his contract but does not want to sign an extension.
That has alerted Arsenal to his potential availability, with boss Mikel Arteta desperate to add reinforcements to his squad.
And now the star has confirmed in an interview – via the Mirror – that the Premier League are keen.
Discussing the transfer speculation, Sanches said: “Maybe Milan and Arsenal are interested but I don’t know.
“I spoke with my agent, I know which clubs are calling me but I can’t say right now. But I know I’m ready. If an offer comes in, I’ll find out what’s best for me.”

And the Clarets have been in talks over a temporary switch in the last few weeks.
Shaun Dyche’s strugglers would be able to pay nowhere near Ramsey’s reported £400k-a-week wages.
But Ramsey, 31, may still consider the move after an initial rejection – with Juventus desperate to get him off their books.
He hoped for Crystal Palace, but Patrick Viera’s side have not come in.
Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri confirmed earlier in January that Ramsey is free to leave, describing him as surplus to requirements.
Allegri said: “Ramsey, he returned today after we had given him a few days off to work, to train separately, in England.
“In any case, he’s an outgoing player.”

Reports recently suggested Ramsey has irritated Juve by rejecting a loan move to Newcastle, who are looking to boost their bid for Premier League survival.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is determined to beat his rivals to the star’s signature and has made the Serbia forward his No.1 transfer target this month.
Vlahovic is under contract with the Italian side until June 2023 but is putting pressure on Fiorentina to sell by so far refusing to agree to an extension.
His employers are growing increasingly concerned by the situation and him to commit his future to them as uncertainty mounts.

Crystal Palace pull out of Aaron Ramsey transfer race but £400k-a-week ex-Arsenal star set for Premier League return

CRYSTAL PALACE have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Aaron Ramsey. The former Arsenal midfielder is pushing for a return to the Premier League after Juventus confirmed plans to sell him.

Palace were among English clubs linked with Ramsey, who is believed to be open to working with Gunners legend and Eagles boss Patrick Viera.
But according to the Daily Mail, Viera’s side have now decided against signing the Welshman, who is on wages of £400,000-per-week.
Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri confirmed earlier in January that Ramsey is free to leave, describing him as surplus to requirements.
Allegri said: “Ramsey, he returned today after we had given him a few days off to work, to train separately, in England.
“In any case, he’s an outgoing player. ”
It then sparked interest from across Europe, with the Italian giants receiving several loan offers for the 31-year-old.

Ramsey has suffered greatly from injuries since moving to Italy in 2019, playing just 69 times, scoring six goals.

BAYERN MUNICH have reportedly joined Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.The 25-year-old has entered the last six months of his contract and is unwilling to consider staying at Monchengladbach once it expires.

The German side are open to cashing in on him whilst they still can, with Arsenal and Manchester United both interested.
Reports last week suggested that the Red Devils had already offered the player a contract and would rather pay a fee this month than wait until the summer.
But, Bayern Munich are now seriously considering a swoop and are the current favorites to secure his signature.
The Bundesliga title holders are said to be hopeful of signing Zakaria on a free transfer in the summer as a replacement for Corentin Tolisso, whose contract also expires in June.
Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg recently tweeted: “He [Zakaria] is a potential candidate to replace Tolisso in summer.
