‘Anxious’ Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli ‘could force transfer exit’ over lack of playing time

GABRIEL MARTINELLI could reportedly force through an Arsenal transfer exit due to his lack of playing time. The Mirror claims Martinelli, 20, is becoming ‘anxious’ over his Gunners future after featuring just twice in the league this season.

The Brazilian has been an unused sub in Arsenal’s last five games.
And with stars including Bukayo Saka, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe in good form, Martinelli may have to wait a while until he gets another shot.
That could prompt the youngster to seek a solution in January.
Since joining from Ituano in July 2019, Martinelli has only played 30 times in the Premier League.
And with a one-promising career now grinding to a halt, he may push for a change of scenery in order to gain vital minutes.
But the final decision lies with boss Mikel Arteta, who warned Martinelli last season he needs to be giving more on the field.

“There are a few things that have to be better and one of those is to manage when he doesn’t play.

Arsenal ‘trust William Saliba 100 per cent and plan to bring defender back from Marseille loan transfer’

ARSENAL intend for defender William Saliba to return to the club following his loan spell with Marseille. The 20-year-old, who has featured as a full-back and as part of a back three for the Ligue 1 side, joined the Gunners for £27million in 2019.

But he then continued to play for Saint-Etienne for the 2019-20 season before returning to Arsenal.
However, he did not play a single game for the Gunners in the first half of the 2020-21 campaign and was subsequently loaned out to Nice.
Then at the start of the new season he has embarked on another loan spell, this time with Marseille.
Yet despite not yet having played for Mikel Arteta’s side, it is now being reported that the Premier League outfit are still keen for him to eventually play a part for them in the future.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Arsenal are following William Saliba’s progress closely – they are really happy with the French centre back.
“Arsenal told Saliba weeks ago that they trust him 100% for the future, he joined OM on loan to play all games as starter then he’ll be back.”

Saliba has featured in seven of Marseille’s eight Ligue 1 matches so far this season.
They currently sit fifth in the table heading into the second international break of the season having won four, drawn two and lost two.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have recovered from a shocking start to the season by going on a four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Arteta’s men picked up wins against Norwich, Burnley and Tottenham before drawing with Brighton at the weekend.
They now sit 11th in the table as they look to recover from three defeats at the start of the campaign.
Next up for the Gunners is a home match against Crystal Palace on Monday, October 18.

Seven transfers we could see in January as Arsenal move for Calvert-Lewin and Watkins and van de Beek in Man Utd exit

THERE is less than three months until the transfer window swings wide open again and clubs try and find some New Year deals. The likes of Luis Suarez, Bruno Fernandes and Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang arrived in the Premier League during previous winter windows

And there is already plenty of speculation surrounding who will be going where in the first few weeks of 2022.
So SunSport rounds up some of the biggest transfers that could get over the line in January…
Ollie Watkins or Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Arsenal
The Gunners need a new striker with Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
And as revealed by SunSport, they are eyeing two of the Premier League and England’s hottest young strikers to lead the line long-term.

Donny van de Beek to Everton
He wanted out of Old Trafford in the summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked a last-minute loan to the Toffees.
But now clearer than ever he is not in the plans, Van de Beek could be allowed to make the switch in January – or may return to boyhood club Ajax.

    Raheem Sterling to Barcelona
The England winger continues to struggle for game time under Pep Guardiola this term and Barcelona could be set to pounce.
Apparently, the Catalan giants have the funds, despite their financial mess, to stump up £60million for Sterling.

    Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea
The RB Leipzig midfielder, who scored a hat-trick against Manchester City in September, worked under Thomas Tuchel at PSG and could be reunited with the German.
The 23-year-old’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has confirmed he is in talks with Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid over a 2022 switch – but the Blues may swoop and get a deal done early.
Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is also a target but Chelsea face competition from Juventus for his signature.

    Paul Pogba to PSG
The ongoing saga surrounding Pogba continues with his current Manchester United contract expiring next summer.
The Red Devils want him to make a decision on his future by Christmas but failure to do so could see the club sell him on the cheap in January rather than lose him for free with PSG ahead of Real Madrid and Juventus in the race.

    Pau Torres to Man City
That’s right – Manchester City are being linked with yet another centre-back with the Etihad club ‘well positioned’ to land the Villarreal ace.
United and Tottenham have wanted him in the past but Pep Guardiola likes his compatriot and wants him as further competition for Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nathan Ake.

    Allan Saint-Maximin to Liverpool
Newcastle’s exciting winger certainly catches the eye with his dazzling runs and trickery – and it has not gone unnoticed at Anfield or Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool looks the likeliest destination but it would surely take a mammoth bid to convince Mike Ashley to sell one of his best players amid a relegation dogfight.

Arsenal target England duo Calvert-Lewin and Watkins transfers as Arteta looks to axe £180k-a-week flop Lacazette

ARSENAL have already started drawing up a target list of strikers as they prepare for the departure of Alexandre Lacazette. And England internationals Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins have both been mentioned as potential replacements.

Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins is also on the Gunners’ shortlistCredit: Getty
French international Lacazette, 30, is in the final year of his £180,000-a-week Emirates contract and has not been offered a new deal by the club.
There is a chance that Arsenal could look to sell him in the January transfer window rather than losing him as a free agent at the end of the season.
But manager Mikel Arteta will only allow that to happen if he is able to sign another striker to act as back-up to skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
And after spending £148million on six new recruits this summer, the club are not looking to make another big investment in January.
Lacazette, a £52m recruit from Lyon in 2017, has not started a Prem game this season after contracting Covid on the eve of the new campaign.
Yet he is the only experienced alternative to Aubameyang and Arteta does not want to leave himself short of attacking options for the second half of the season.

But the meticulous Gunners boss is constantly planning a long-term strategy for the club and has already alerted technical director Edu to the need to begin the search for another target man.
And he is looking for a young goalscorer with Premier League experience to fit in with his policy of building a squad around youth.
Both Calvert-Lewin, 24, and Watkins, 25, match Arteta’s criteria but are under contract at their current clubs to 2025 and will not come cheaply.
Ambitious Everton will fight tooth and nail to keep top scorer Calvert-Lewin, who has established himself as Harry Kane’s England back-up over the past year.
Alexandre Lacazette could leave Arsenal in JanuaryCredit: Getty
He signed a long-term Goodison deal worth £75,000-a-week last year and it would cost upwards of £50million to prise him away from Merseyside.
That would represent a massive profit for Everton, who only paid £2.4million when they signed him from Sheffield United five years ago.
Aston Villa paid £28million when they bought Watkins from Brentford last year and, like Everton, are in no mood to sell their star striker who made his senior England debut in March but missed out on the Euros.
But Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is prepared to back Arteta with further recruitment funds for an established goalscorer to challenge and eventually replace Aubameyang.

Arsenal ace Eddie Nketiah ‘to force January transfer exit to land first-team action with Leeds, Villa & Brentford keen’

ARSENAL ace Eddie Nketiah wants to leave the North London club in January, according to reports. The striker, 22, is yet to feature in the Premier League this term and three teams are thought to be interested in signing him.
Eddie Nketiah is reportedly considering his Arsenal futureCredit: Getty
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.Net, Nketiah will try to leave Arsenal this winter in a bid to get more game time.
The 17-cap England U21 international has made just one appearance for the Gunners this term, scoring against Wimbledon in the League Cup.
And Brentford, Aston Villa and former club Leeds are all reportedly keen on luring him away from the Emirates.
Nketiah spent the first half of the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Elland Road, scoring three goals in 17 Championship fixtures.
His game time appears to have been limited by Arsenal’s lack of European competition this season.
Eight of Nketiah’s 29 appearances under Mikel Arteta last term were in the Europa League, with just 17 of those coming in the Prem.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET RONALDO TO SCORE A PENALTY AND MAN UTD TO WIN AT 100/1
Arsenal have never given the promising forward a proper run of games in the top-flight, starting just 11 of his 38 Prem outings.
Nketiah’s existing deal runs out in June, although his next club will need to pay the Gunners compensation for developing the player.
The Londoner was linked with various teams throughout the recent summer transfer window, including Crystal Palace.
But a move never materialised and he can negotiate his next contract with foreign clubs – to start in July – from January.
Nketiah’s situation, therefore, may force the Gunners to accept a low transfer fee this winter – putting suitors on red alert.

Arsenal boost as Fiorentina president reveals he’s struggling to tie down transfer target Dusan Vlahovic to new contract

The 21-year-old has caught the eye of a number of top clubs after notching 21 goals in 37 Serie A games last term.
Atletico Madrid were even reported to have had a £51 million offer for him turned down over the summer.
The Serb is under contract at Stadio Artemio Franchi until June 2023 but Commisso revealed he has been offered a new five-year deal worth £34.6million.
Commisso said: “I don’t know if he’ll sign, let’s all just stay calm.
“We’ve been working on it for months, some days are more positive than others. I speak to Dusan and he says he’s only focussing on the pitch and I should talk to his agents, then I talk to his agents and they say I have to speak to the player.
“What I will say is that this would be the highest salary ever given to a Fiorentina player, including Gabriel Batistuta and Manuel Rui Costa.

“I told Dusan that he is taking a huge risk not signing this deal. We are offering him a five-year contract worth €40m.
“I had to work a whole year to earn what he would in two or three days. I don’t know how football reached this stage.”
Arteta is assessing his attacking options as he attempts to maintain his side’s new momentum following a woeful start to the season.
Alexandre Lacazette is one forward who could be leaving the club in January with Arsenal considering him as part of a swap deal for Youssef En-Nesyri.
Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has another two years to run on his deal but will be 34 by the time it expires in 2023.
