Blackstenius confirms BK Hacken exit with striker linked to Arsenal and a Women’s Super League move

STINA BLACKSTENIUS could be set for a WSL switch this month with the striker heavily linked to Arsenal.News outlets in Sweden claim the North London side is a likely destination for the forward following her spell at BK Hacken with the club confirming her exit.

Swedish paper Goteborgs-Posten reports Blackstenius, 25, is expected to arrive in England in days to sign for a ‘top side’.
And the player’s contract with Hacken expired at the start of this year with the forward’s departure announced by the club earlier today.
In her leaving interview with the team’s official website, Blackstenius said: “I am very grateful for everything Hacken has done.
“I feel proud to have been a part of this club. I only see the club growing in the coming years.”
In recent weeks Blackstenius was rumoured to be a Manchester United target with Tottenham also thought to be keen.
But Jonas Eidevall’s side are reported to be leading the race to sign the forward according to BBC Sport.
Blackstenius, who began her senior playing career at 15, in her hometown Vadstena, has emerged as one of Europe’s most talented strikers in recent years.

In 2015 the forward was crowned the top scorer of the Women’s Under-19 Euros netting six goals in five games.
The player joined Hacken in 2020 after stints at Vadstena, Linkopings and French Ligue 1 side Montpellier.
Her goalscoring prowess helped Hacken win the 2021 Swedish Cup.
And the side finished second in the race for the country’s league title last term with Eidevall leading Rosengard to the crown before heading to Arsenal.
Blackstenius, a 2021 Ballon d’Or nominee, racked up 17 goals and eight assists in Sweden’s top division last term.
The striker helped her nation to a silver medal win at the Tokyo Olympics with Canada claiming gold.
The highly-rated forward has scored 22 times in 72 international games for her country.

Arsenal defender Pablo Mari set to join Udinese on loan transfer as Arteta continues squad overhaul

ARSENAL are set to send Pablo Mari on loan with the defender being targeted by Udinese.According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano the deal is almost done.

The journalist released the information on Twitter, saying: “Udinese are set to sign Pablo Marí on loan from Arsenal, deal almost done.
“Final details to be agreed then Pablo will arrive in Italy.”
Mari, 28, was loaned to Arsenal from Flamengo in January 2020 before the club signed him on a permanent transfer the following summer.
Despite being a first team regular upon his arrival, he has since fallen behind Gabriel and Ben White in the pecking order.
The defender has only made three appearances this season and Mikel Arteta is open to letting him leave.
Reports suggest that the player is open to a move to seek more first team football.

However, the North London club have chosen not to specify the length of the Buckinghamshire-born centre-back’s new deal.
Williamson, who skippered the Lionesses during Steph Houghton’s absence through injury, has been at Arsenal since the age of nine.
On her new contract, the 24-year-old said: “I’m as grateful as ever to have the opportunity to do what I do here – at home – and I’m very proud to continue to represent my family playing for Arsenal and to wear the badge.”

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool, Arteta said: “Historically, this club has targeted the best players in world.
“Best players have always been attracted to Arsenal.
“That situation hasn’t changed. It is a big advantage for us.”

And Arsenal are willing to meet Fiorentina’s £60m price tag, as well as Vlahovic’s stunning £300,000-a-week wage demands.
Arsenal are also reportedly in the hunt to sign Aaron Ramsey and bring the Welshman back to the Emirates.

Arsenal missed Juan Mata transfer in 2011 because of ‘Wenger’s dithering’ over fee, before he signed for Chelsea

ARSENAL missed out on signing Juan Mata from Valencia in 2011 according to the club’s former transfer negotiator Dick Law.The Spanish playmaker had agreed personal terms with the Gunners about making the switch to North London, but the club dithered over the price tag set by the LaLiga outfit.

This led rivals Chelsea to swoop in and secure the services of Mata, who had chipped in with nine goals and 188 assists in 43 games during the 2010-11 season.
Arsenal were crying out for a creative midfielder as they looked to replace Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, who were seeking an exit from the club.
But Arsene Wenger and the club were put off by the combined value of the transfer fee for Mata as well as his contract, which would have totalled £37million.
Law had travelled to Spain to meet with Mata’s father, and he has stated that the player was keen to make the move to the Emirates.
Speaking to The Athletic, he said: “Then we waited. Juan definitely wanted to come to Arsenal, there was no question about that.”
When asked if Arsenal ever considered paying above their valuation of a player, Law declared that it was never spoken about.
He added: “I don’t think that calculation ever entered our equation.
“We didn’t have the money to say, ‘We’ll spend a bit more’.”

ARSENAL are reportedly in the hunt to sign Aaron Ramsey and bring the Welshman back to the Emirates.The 31-year-old midfielder, who pockets £400,000-a-week, has been told he can leave Juventus this month and is eyeing a return to the Premier League.

Burnley confirmed their interest in the star yesterday, with Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Everton also keen.
Now Arsenal are allegedly in the chase to sign the ex-Cardiff City man, who left them in 2019.
That is according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, who provided this update on Ramsey’s situation on Twitter.
He wrote: “Juventus, #Ramsey transfer: #Newcastle and #CrystalPalace options remain valid, still interested in the midfielder.
“Further back – at the moment – the positions of #Everton and #Arsenal.”

Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed earlier this week that Ramsey is on his way out of the Serie A giants.
Allegri said: “Aaron Ramsey returned today after his leave to work in England but he is an outgoing player.”
Ramsey spent 11 years at Arsenal and played 259 times and scored 61 goals.
He helped the Gunners to win three FA Cups during that period, scoring in two of the finals.

MIKEL ARTETA has confirmed that he wants to bring in a new midfielder to Arsenal this month.The Gunners have lost both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny to the African Cup of Nations this month.

Despite that, they are still ready to sanction the departure of versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles to Roma.
The Gunners academy graduate has struggled for regular playing time under Arteta and there is an agreement in place for him to join the Italian club on loan until the end of the season.
That has left Arsenal boss Arteta desperately short in the middle of the park.
They travel to Nottingham Forest next on Sunday in the FA Cup Third Round.
Speaking ahead of that trip earlier, Arteta remained tight-lipped on absences for the clash.
But he did reveal that there are ‘issues’ his side are dealing with.
And then he confirmed that he is in talks with Emirates chiefs to try and bring in some reinforcements.

“But this cannot be an argument only to keep a player and Ainsley came to me and explained the reasons why he thought the best thing for him and his career was to move away.
“He believed the opportunity to play and work under Jose Mourinho at Roma was really good for him.
“He is a player who has been developed and raised through the academy but he was very straight with me and we understood the situation.”
And it’s not only midfield that Arteta hopes to strengthen over the coming weeks to help bolster their top four bid.
Arsenal want to use Lucas Torreira as part of a swap deal for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Serbian international Vlahovic, 21, has been identified as a potential long-term Emirates replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners are looking to offload axed skipper Aubameyang and get his £350,000-a-week wages off the payroll.
And both Eddie Nketiah and Lacazette are also out of contract at the end of the season, which could leave Arteta short up front.
